Los Angeles Times: “The concept had been pushed unsuccessfully since 2016 by a small group of current and former government officials, some with deep financial ties to the aerospace industry, who see creation of the sixth military service as a surefire way to hike Pentagon spending on satellite and other space systems.
“A few days after the San Diego speech, Trump took a phone call at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida from Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), an Alabama Republican who is chairman of the House Armed Services subcommittee on strategic forces. He had been promoting the space force to Trump and his advisors for months.”
Said Trump: “I’m all in. We are going to have a space force.” _____________________________

White House counsel Donald McGahn “has cooperated extensively in the special counsel investigation, sharing detailed accounts about the episodes at the heart of the inquiry into whether President Trump obstructed justice, including some that investigators would not have learned of otherwise,” the New York Times reports.
“In at least three voluntary interviews with investigators that totaled 30 hours over the past nine months, Mr. McGahn described the president’s furor toward the Russia investigation and the ways in which he urged Mr. McGahn to respond to it.
“For a lawyer to share so much with investigators scrutinizing his client is unusual. Lawyers are rarely so open with investigators, not only because they are advocating on behalf of their clients but also because their conversations with clients are potentially shielded by attorney-client privilege, and in the case of presidents, executive privilege.”
Also interesting: “Mr. McGahn and his lawyer, William Burck, could not understand why Mr. Trump was so willing to allow Mr. McGahn to speak freely to the special counsel and feared Mr. Trump was setting up Mr. McGahn to take the blame for any possible illegal acts of obstruction.”
James - You realize that Donald McGahn met with Mueller's team during the time when he was representing Trump, and with the consent of Trump... back when it was the strategy to provide Special Counsel with most everything that they asked for.
Once again, the NY Times is providing "old news" as if it is "new news" and once again the gullible are fooled.
Bad news for two little boys. "Michelle Wolf’s Netflix series has been canceled after only ten episodes, and the left is bummed. The unscripted Netflix series, The Break with Michelle Wolf, premiered only three months ago and was part of the streaming giant’s incursion into late-night comedy. Wolf’s cancellation comes just ten months after Netflix canceled Chelsea Handler’s failed attempt to bring late night to the streaming world."
President Trump’s comment calling former campaign chairman Paul Manafort a “very good person,” despite 18 criminal charges against him, was a “strategic” message to Manafort that he could be rewarded with a pardon if he keeps his mouth shut.
McGahn became the special counsel to the President but he is not the President's personal lawyer. He was appointed to the job on January 20, 2017, after Mr Trump was inaugurated.
Scott, your timeline blows away your old news spin.

Completely untrue.
He has been questioned about the President since he was sworn in and lied about the crowd size on day one of his administration.
I knew what you were going to say about that New York Times article. Or I SHOULD have known
(I allowed White House Counsel Don McGahn, and all other requested members of the White House Staff, to fully cooperate with the Special Counsel. In addition we readily gave over one million pages of documents. Most transparent in history. No Collusion, No Obstruction. Witch Hunt!)

John Dean of the Watergate affair said a lot of things that you have not been able to see because of your unbelievable devotion to the President.
Isaac Chotiner: What did you think when you read the Times story today?
John W. Dean: I guess the first impression I had was that I was surprised that Dowd and Cobb wanted to send McGahn over so willingly to talk to the special counsel. But I guess that was part of their philosophy. And it makes me wonder: Did they know what was going on? Because I am not sure Trump is the kind of client that is terribly forthcoming and fully forthcoming.
My second reaction is that Don McGahn is doing exactly the right thing, not merely to protect himself, but to protect his client. And his client is not Donald Trump; his client is the office of the president. That is one of the things that was cleared up as a result of Watergate. The American Bar Association reissued a code of ethics and dealt directly with representation of an organization, and who the client is. And the client, in this instance, would not be the man who holds the office, but the office. And that is a huge difference.
The White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, has cooperated extensively in the special counsel investigation...
and as i suspected, it's a maggie haberman story.
no wonder the alky fell for it.
oh, and it's as fucking fake as a $3 bill...
This account is based on interviews with current and former White House officials and others who have spoken to both men, all of whom requested anonymity to discuss a sensitive investigation.

How Trump Came Up with the ‘Space Force’
