national security officials appeared in the White House briefing room to outline what is being done to combat the interference.

“In regards to Russian involvement in the midterm elections, we continue to see a pervasive messaging campaign by Russia to try to weaken and divide the United States,” Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats said.

"a pervasive messaging campaign by Russia"

well alky, you reap what you sow. the left, mostly via the teachers unions have completely and utterly destroyed our public education system for at least the past 40 years. as a result, we've been churning out generation after generation of complete fucking morons. morons that would be easily swayed by propaganda messaging from anyone; not just the russians.

note the upswing in the popularity of democratic socialism led by bernie sanders - a guy so fucking lazy he was kicked out of a hippie commune in vermont, and as of late - the bucktoothed, bug-eyed alexandria assholio nutbagio. and she has an economics degree from BU. supposedly.

so now we have an entire generation of snowflake voters who are one trigger warning away from a nervous breakdown, and are ripe for the picking with russia-bot generated bullshit.

be proud alky. it's your side who created this fucking mess.

Actually Roger

The President bought the DNC the book, Internet Security for Dummies, and has provided the DNC a couple of 15 year old interns that can show them how "not" to get caught up in a remedial phishing scheme again!

Or perhaps the Democrats could take responsibility for their own cyber-security like everyone else does in the country, rather than blame their stupidity on Trump.

the alky avoids commenting on the fact that the RNC was also hacked - unsuccessfully - around the same time podesta's gmail was phished.

C.H. Truth said...

I am pretty sure that not one person has really put in any sort of tangible effort to explain "exactly" what anyone would do to prevent international cyber security hacking.

We can't stop criminals from hacking financial institutions. When those institutions get hacked, they suffer the consequences, have to pay everyone back, and generally get sued and pay damages on top of it all.

But those who want to actually "run" the country want to blame everyone else for their own security problems. This is especially ironic considering the fact that they were warned about potential hacking and bad security.

C.H. Truth said...

But hey...

I think Roger and his ilk believe that if the President just told Putin to "cut it out" in a very stern voice, that it would be enough.

Anonymous said...

I am pretty sure that not one person has really put in any sort of tangible effort to explain "exactly" what anyone would do to prevent international cyber security hacking.

and in the case of the DNC, wasserman schultz hired a pack of paki's who compromised a mountain of congressional data, lined their pockets in the process, and fled back to shitholeistan. and DWS has bent over backwards to protect them.

We can't stop criminals from hacking financial institutions. When those institutions get hacked, they suffer the consequences, have to pay everyone back, and generally get sued and pay damages on top of it all.

indeed. lest we forget, the OPM was hacked and the data of every single federal government employee was compromised. we don't hear about that much since it happened under the 0linsky regime.

But those who want to actually "run" the country want to blame everyone else for their own security problems.

liberals never take responsibility for anything, ever. look at every failed city in america. democrat run for half a fucking century. look at public education since 1980. a fucking disaster. look at "gun control." chicago will probably set a new body count record this year.

so regardless the issue, if liberals are involved you can be sure it's a fucking shitshow, and nowadays you can pile on a big heaping helping of TDS for added entertainment value.

Are Hispanics shifting their allegiances to President Trump?

A recent Harvard/Harris poll recorded a 10-point spike in Hispanic support for Mr. Trump. It hasn’t received much attention from the mainstream media, which is heavily invested in its portrait of the president as an unrepentant — and unpopular — “nativist.”

Coming in the midst of the nationwide controversy over children and families at the U.S.-Mexico border, it suggests that Hispanics may not be the entrenched liberal voting constituency that Democrats so often imagine.

And consider Florida’s hotly-contested Senate race. Republican Gov. Rick Scott is besting his Democratic opponent among Hispanics, according to a Mason-Dixon poll. Historically, a large and aging Cuban-American exile community has given Republicans a decided partisan edge in the Sunshine State.

ENEVA, Aug 2 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's verbal attacks on the media run the risk of triggering real violence against journalists, the U.N. rapporteur for freedom of expression said on Thursday.

In a joint statement with Edison Lanza, who holds the same post at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, David Kaye said Trump's tirades against the media violated the basic norms of press freedom.

“These attacks run counter to the country’s obligations to respect press freedom and international human rights law," they said.

The US government supported a group that tried to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last year to the tune of nearly $350,000, or NIS 1.3 million, a Senate inquiry published Tuesday found, though it cleared the State Department of any wrongdoing.

The bipartisan probe found no illegal activity in funding the OneVoice group, which became the V15 campaign to oust Netanyahu, though its report chided the State Department for having failed to prevent state funds being used, albeit legally and indirectly, to influence an allied country’s internal political process.

Since you are wantonly lazy to look at my link....here's the final conclusion....

A conservative blog claimed, "Obama has been sending taxpayer dollars, at least $350,000 to fund anti-Likud, anti Netanyahu groups in Israel for tomorrow’s election."

First, there is the matter of the dollar amount. If any U.S. money was used to mobilize anti-Likud voters, it would have been in Israel. A more accurate figure would be $233,500.

Next, there is a matter of the blog’s tense. "Has been sending" says the action is continuing. In this case, the money stopped flowing in 2014, before elections were called in Israel.

Finally, the allegation that the money was spent to fund anti-Likud, anti-Netanyahu groups in Israel for the election is based on speculation. Yes, Obama sent money to OneVoice, a group that promoted a two-state solution. And yes that group partnered with a different group V15 that wanted Netanyahu defeated. But there is no paper trail that the money given to OneVoice was spent on an electoral ground game. It would be naive to ignore that OneVoice’s policy positions mesh well with V15’s voter mobilization, but that’s different from saying that American taxpayer dollars were spent by V15.

That may change as more evidence comes to light

You are such a major douche, pauline....

TAMPA, Fla. — Amid the “Trump 2020” placards, the “Women for Trump” signs and the “CNN SUCKS” T-shirts, the most inscrutable message that came out of Donald Trump’s Tampa rally on Tuesday evening was a letter.

Q.

People wore T-shirts with the letter emblazoned on the front. Others carried signs containing the letter: “Q WWG1WGA Trump 2020 Keep America Great! MSM is the enemy.” Another held a dog-eared and slightly crumpled piece of paper in the air. It said, simply, “We are Q.”

Q who?

In its statement on Twitter, the Times said Jeong’s “journalism and the fact that she is a young Asian woman have made her a subject of frequent online harassment. For a period of time she responded to that harassment by imitating the rhetoric of her harassers. She sees now that this approach only served to feed the vitriol that we too often see on social media. She regrets it, and The Times does not condone it.”

The Times said it reviewed Jeong’s social media during its vetting process.

In her comment, Jeong posted examples of the kinds of harassing tweets she has received, involving calls of violence and racial slurs aimed at her.

She said she had thought of her comments as “counter-trolling,” and that “while it was intended as satire, I deeply regret that I mimicked the language of my harassers. These comments were not aimed at a general audience, because general audiences do not engage in harassment campaigns. I can understand how hurtful these posts are out of context, and would not do it again.”

Because of summer vacation schedules, we had fallen a month behind in updating The Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president.

It turns out that’s when the president decided to turn on the spigots of false and misleading claims. As of day 558, he’s made 4,229 Trumpian claims — an increase of 978 in just two months.

That’s an overall average of nearly 7.6 claims a day.

When we first started this project for the president’s first 100 days, he averaged 4.9 claims a day. But the average number of claims per day keeps climbing the longer Trump stays in office. In fact, in June and July, the president averaged 16 claims a day.

This “pivot to electoral politics” was part of the strategy OneVoice informed the State Department about in advance, though the US diplomat who was received the plan said he never reviewed it.

Spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday night the State Department had not had time to study the report closely.

“The report makes it clear that there is no evidence that OneVoice spent any funds to influence the Israeli election,” he added.

"The Obama White House’s chief cyber official testified Wednesday that proposals he was developing to counter Russia’s attack on the U.S. presidential election were put on a “back burner” after he was ordered to “stand down” his efforts in the summer of 2016.

The comments by Michael Daniel, who served as White House “cyber security coordinator” between 2012 and January of last year, provided his first public confirmation of a much-discussed passage in the book, “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump,” co-written by this reporter and David Corn, that detailed his thwarted efforts to respond to the Russian attack."

Well Roger - if you can stop the cyber criminal with "new measures" then you don't need the President's permission to get it done.

Congress can write the bill that mandates "new measures".
Law enforcement can take up the "new measures". They don't need a law.

Furthermore this hacking took place during the Obama administration with all of the Obama law enforcement and intelligence running the show.

So you must think Trump and his administration can stop what Obama and his couldn't?

But the Trump administration, in its big new proposal to roll back those rules, is now arguing the opposite: Forcing automakers to build cleaner cars will lead to more highway accidents and deaths.

The administration contends that scrapping the Obama-era standards after 2021 would prevent more than 12,700 deaths from road accidents over the following decade, compared with keeping the standards in place. To support this claim, the proposal makes three main arguments.

First, people who buy fuel-efficient vehicles will end up driving more, increasing the odds that they will get into a crash. Second, the fuel-efficient vehicles will themselves be more expensive, slowing the rate at which people buy newer vehicles with advanced safety features. Third, automakers will have to make their cars lighter in response to rising standards, slightly hurting safety.

These arguments have been greeted with skepticism by outside experts who reviewed an earlier draft of the proposal. “I don’t know how they are going to defend this analysis,” said Antonio M. Bento, a professor of public policy and economics at the University of Southern California whose research is cited throughout the document. “I just don’t think it’s correct.”
