Here's how liberal logic works (or doesn't)...

  • The House has passed a budget bill that includes $5 billion to fund a wall.
  • The majority of the Senate favors that same budget bill that includes $5 billion to fund a wall.
  • The President of the United States is on board with signing a budget that includes $5 billion to fund a wall.
  • But a minority of Senators will use the filibuster to prevent the bill from passing, which will effectively close portions of the Government down.

And the liberal idiot media will blame the shut down on the House for passing a bill, and the Senate majority for wanting to pass that same bill, and the President for wanting to sign the bill....

and attempt to logically explain why the minority members of the Senate who are actually blocking the budget bill from passing are NOT the ones actually shutting down the government.

and then we can all watch the liberal rank and file minions cut and paste all of this liberal logic as if it needs to be repeated (a set number of times) before it can become the gospel truth.

Or.... quite possibly they will not even "explain" why it's the fault of those trying to pass the budget bill. They will just trust that their faithful idiot brain dead followers will believe it to be true without any actual logic attached?

Why do the Socialist Democrats support illegal immigrants over US Citizens?

what's obvious to me is that democrats hate trump more than they love their country.

that's fucked up.

and regarding syria, the left doesn't care about the kurds. they wouldn't piss on a kurd if the kurd was on fire. the left hates trump, therefore the kurds have political value. just like the beaner brigade stuck in tijuana.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld a federal judge's order blocking the Trump administration's new asylum restrictions.

Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the four liberal justices in the 5-4 ruling.

The administration's policy, signed on November 9, would temporarily bar migrants who illegally cross into the US through the southern border from seeking asylum outside of official ports of entry. A federal judge in California quickly blocked the order, and the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals agreed.

"It's a major blow to the Trump administration and sends a strong signal that there are at least five justices who agree with the district court that the asylum ban exceeds the President's statutory authority," said Steve Vladeck, CNN Supreme Court analyst and professor at the University of Texas School of Law.

Roger... name a single issue that I specifically have changed my mind about?

And no... it doesn't count to name an issue that someone else believes in (such as the President or another Republican). I don't answer for the behavior of anyone else besides myself.

You apparently lack the intelligence needed to pay attention to what "my" beliefs are. Half the time, I don't think your diminished attention span allows you to even finish reading my posts.

Have my opinions changed about taxes?
Have they changed regarding immigration?
Have they changed regarding economic policy?
Am I advocating a different line regarding states rights?
Am I advocating different judicial philosophies?

Where are these shifting beliefs?

By Jeff McCausland, retired U.S. Army colonel and former member of the National Security Council
Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis’ resignation — apparently on principle — has rocked the U.S. national security community, if not the entire nation. Retired military officers, former cabinet officials, think tank experts and congressional leaders from both parties appear united in their concern about the implications for the nation’s future security.

Mattis, along with fellow generals John Kelly (Trump’s exiting chief-of-staff) and H.R. McMaster (Trump’s former national security advisor) had been mostly viewed as a source of stabilizing counsel for a president with little to no experience in government or national security affairs. They were the proverbial “adults in the room” — even as their influence appeared to wane. And now they are all gone.

With Mattis’ departure, it is an open question who will advise Trump on issues of national security as the president increasingly acts on impulse rather than expert counsel.

With Mattis’ departure, it is an open question who will advise Trump on issues of national security as the president increasingly acts on impulse rather than expert counsel. This governing strategy is generally concerning, but it is particularly worrisome in the context of military deployments and global alliances. The position of U.S. president requires more than the ability to rile up your domestic base — you must also take your responsibilities as commander-in-chief seriously. An impetuous or poorly thought out domestic order is bad enough — one that impacts our international security apparatus could start a war.

It had been rumored for some time that Mattis would soon depart the administration. He and Trump disagreed on many major policy issues, as suggested by his uncharacteristically candid resignation letter. Furthermore, it seemed clear that the secretary was frequently not consulted and was even surprised when the president announced significant changes in American security policy. Mattis had testified before Congress that the U.S. should remain in the JCPOA, also known as the Iran nuclear deal, that the president opposed. After Trump stunned South Korea with an agreement to unilaterally end all joint exercises between U.S. and South Korean forces, Mattis reinstated the war games.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Mattis also noted at several points in his resignation letter the critical importance of our allies. But he was forced to devote significant time in the aftermath of the NATO summit to repairing relations with our European counterparts following public disparaging remarks by the president. In many ways, Mattis’ resignation letter was not only a formal protest but also a detailed critique of the president’s policies and worldview.

The apparent final straw was the president’s recent tweet announcing a precipitous American withdrawal from Syria. Mattis, General Joe Dunford (chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff), and other senior administration officials have been clear in the past few weeks: An enduring defeat of ISIS has not been achieved. The Pentagon has estimated that thousands of ISIS fighters remained despite the loss of the territory that had comprised the so-called Caliphate. Indeed, the air campaign continues in the region, with over 100 air strikes in the last week.

VIEW THIS GRAPHIC ON NBCNEWS.COM
Furthermore, U.S.-stated objectives in Syria have long included the departure of Iranian forces and proxies as well as the establishment of a political process that would eventually end a civil war that human rights organizations say has resulted in 500,000 Syrian dead and millions of refugees. Sadly, none of these goals have been achieved. Rather, it now appears the United States will leave a vacuum in Syria that will be filled by Russia, Turkey, and Iran to the detriment of our Kurdish allies, Israel and the Syrian people.

But more broadly, what does the Mattis resignation tell us, our allies and our potential adversaries about American national security strategy at the onset of 2019? Recent presidents have often adopted policies that differed from their predecessors and not always agreed with their closest advisers. Still, each adhered to a process that insured relevant advisers and cabinet members were involved, options were vetted and secondary consequences considered. Allied governments were consulted, particularly when they were providing significant military forces to a combined effort. This all occurred within the context of a national security strategy to insure policy choices were aligned with longer-term objectives. That no longer appears to be the case in the current administration. Major decisions are made on Twitter at the apparent whim of the president.

But more broadly, what does the Mattis resignation tell us, our allies and our potential adversaries about American national security strategy at the onset of 2019?

Trump has already announced that the search for a new secretary of defense has begun. Obvious requirements include a broad experience in national security affairs, a deep understanding of geopolitics, a grasp of the workings of the Pentagon and background in the policy process. But a secretary of defense, like any cabinet officer, can only be successful if he or she believes their counsel is valued and welcome by the chief executive.

Ultimately, the next secretary of defense’s primary responsibility must be to speak truth to power. For the security of the nation, he or she must tell Trump what he needs to know even when the president disagrees or does not want to hear it. If the president surrounds himself solely with those who patronize and only tell him what he wants to hear the American people are poorly served and the nation’s future security is put at risk

The Senate passed a motion to proceed on the House-passed continuing resolution (CR), 48-47, that includes $5.7 billion in border wall funding, which will put the spending bill to a full floor vote soon. Vice President Mike Pence broke the tie on the motion to proceed, which will allow the Senate to vote on the legislation."

"President Trump’s year of imposing tariffs on foreign imports to protect American jobs and industry has marked the highest level of optimism among U.S. manufacturers, a survey by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) reveals.

The survey of nearly 540 U.S. manufacturing firms found that about 90.6 percent, or 9-in-10, say they expect to increase workers’ wages over the next 12 months by at least up to three percent."

Have my opinions changed about taxes? You have been calling for a decrease of the deficit and making sure the economy will pay for the deficits with the increases in the economy and raising the revenue. You screamed at the deficit by Obama. This President is causing the chaos and you never say a negative word.

Have they changed regarding immigration? You never said that the immigrants were criminals, rapists and murderers. He's even claiming that Muslim terrorists are in the caravan.
You never said anything like that before and now you stay in love with your President.

Have they changed regarding economic policy? Again it's the deficit.

Am I advocating a different line regarding states rights? You still believe that gay marriage should be banned in states. I could write a book about your drifting opinions.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I can't believe how many times you have called out Obama for his comments about keeping your doctor. You have never called him out for his lies. The Mexicans will pay for the wall!

Today in a tweet storm saying that the Democrats are to blame for the shutdown! Three days ago he said that it's him to hold the blame.

He lies almost every time he speaks.

You don't care.

C.H. Truth said...

Roger -

Revenues are not the problem. Nor is discretionary spending. The deficits are being caused by our mandatory spending (entitlements). Absolutely "zero" that Trump can do about that, and cutting taxes (or raising taxes) won't change the cost of our mandatory spending. So my issues with the deficit still exist. But I am not going to be stupid and blame what cannot be fixed. I'll leave that kind of stupidity for people like you.

Lord knows you would never in a million years call for deficit reduction when it means reducing entitlements.

And yes... I screamed about Obama's lie about Obamacare because it specifically affected my family. My wife is paying close to $600/month for insurance that isn't as good as the insurance she used to have that was just under $200. So it pisses me off when we pay $400/month more and our President sold the public on this by lying. If not for Obamacare lies, she would have better insurance for much, much less. That's nearly $5000/year more we could have in our pocket if it wasn't for those lies.

Perhaps you can tell me which of the Trump lies affects you to the tune of $400/month. Or better yet, which of the lies affects me at all. I couldn't give a flying fuck about Obama's numerous other lies, or whether or not this President believes he had a bigger inauguration crowd. But when a lie personally affects my financial well being.

I give a rip.

And yes, Roger - I have been writing about our Federal prisons being littered with illegal immigrants long before Trump was elected office. Do you know what percent of your California prison population was born in Mexico?

Illegals have always committed more crimes, whereas legal immigrants commit less (I am married to a legal immigrant). Just a fact of life and it always has been. Nothing has changed for me there Rog.... You just don't pay very much attention.

About gay marriage. 10 years ago, everyone was for marriage being between a man and a women, including Obama, Hillary, and you. I have always believed that this was a state's right issue, and still believe that today. Absolutely nothing has changes for me.

But you, on the other hand... changed when your Party changed.

So no Roger... you don't have a single issue you can show I flipped on.

Large parts of the federal government are shutting down overnight after President Trump torpedoed a bipartisan spending deal because it lacked the money he demanded for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Funding for numerous agencies, including those that operate parks, homeland security, law enforcement, tax collection and transportation, was set to expire at midnight. Close to 400,000 federal workers are expected to be sent home without pay until a deal is reached, and numerous services will be halted in that time, with the impacts broadening the longer the funding lapse lasts.
The shutdown intensifies a standoff between Trump, who is demanding $5.7 billion for a border wall, and congressional Democrats, who have vowed to block any wall funding and have the votes to do so. It marks a deflating final chapter for Republicans as they complete two years of unified GOP control in Washington — as well as an acrimonious prelude to the upcoming era of divided government, after Democrats take the House in January.

Trump saw the final days of this year as his last chance to try to extract funding for the wall, while Democrats, united against the wall and buttressed by big wins in the midterm elections, showed no signs of buckling to his demands amid a flurry of attacks this week.

The White House and congressional leaders continued negotiations late Friday, but by 8:30 p.m., the House and the Senate had adjourned for the night.

I erreored when I let you pick the points.

You have not objected to his affection for Vladimir Putin and other dictatorial leaders. His public disdain for leaders of NATO allies is IMO dangerous. The democracies are treated with disdain is counter to your stated support for the Atlantic alliance.

His actions in Syria remain to appear dangerous. Even Bolton was aghast.

It's very obvious that he listens to Limbaugh and other right wing media activists but refuses to read the daily intelligence briefings.

He has been very divisive. His base is always his favorite source for policy issues.

Did you really think that we should leave the Atlantic alliance in favor of Putin?

I have a lot more for a later date.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.
