Nearly quarter of a million people put their money where their mouth is...

$14,833,064 has been raised so far in a go fund me page entitled We The People Will Fund The Wall. Now obviously this is far short of the over the top goal of $1 billion, but it tells you that there is real bona fide support for the wall.

Liberals have often times gotten themselves in trouble not understanding that polling only matters if those answering believe in something strongly. If you ask one hundred people about building a wall, and only half of them really care, the half who take it seriously are the only opinions that matter.

If  you look at the reasons for supporting the wall vs not supporting it. People who support it, see it as a national security concern and believe that Americans will be tangibly harmed by open borders. They are reacting to media reports regarding murders, rapes, gang criminals, human trafficking, and other serious dangerous events that are taking place because of porous borders.

What is the reason to oppose the wall? Because you don't like Trump? Because you don't want to spend $5.7 billion dollars? Because you are concerned with the political ramification of Democrats backing down? Because you don't like the political optics of a wall being built? Because you want to encourage more illegal immigration?

The truth is that people legitimately concerned with national security will be more serious about the issue and it will be more likely to influence their vote. Those who oppose it based on the idea that the 5.7 billion is being misplaced on a project that they don't believe will be effective, are not going to see this as an important part of their vote.

Murder, rape, and crime vs political ramifications, TDS, and social optics....

Can anyone else see the obvious reason why we have split apart as a country?

Did you donate money to the GoFundMe page to build the border wall? If you did, there's a good chance this guy/gal or otherkin has doxed your Facebook profile to millions of other nasty trolls who will now make it their business to harass and punish you with anonymous online mobs. Get ready, because your life is about to get more interesting. Based on my personal experience, once these monsters get your information and the directive to destroy you, the death threats, vandalism, obscene pornography, and harassment at work are not far behind and the worst part is, no one will help you — not the police or the FBI or anyone else whose job it should be to stop intimidation and harassment. Gateway Pundit edited the tweets so identities are hidden.

Another person who has been working for the President has quit in disgust.

Brett McGurk, the U.S. envoy to the international coalition fighting the Islamic State, has resigned in protest of President Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria.

His resignation, confirmed by a State Department official familiar with the matter, comes on the heels of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis’s announced departure this week because of differences with White House foreign policy, noticeably in Syria. McGurk’s departure is effective December 31,

Earlier this month, McGurk said that the Islamic State was far from defeated despite its loss of territory. “Nobody working on these issues day to day is complacent. Nobody is declaring a mission accomplished,” McGurk said at a State Department briefing. “Defeating a physical caliphate is one phase of a much longer-term campaign.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday that his country would hold off on a military operation against the U.S.-backed Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria, citing a telephone conversation this past week with U.S. President Donald Trump.

"Our phone call with Mr. Trump, as well as the contacts of our diplomatic and security units, and the statements from the American side have led us to wait a little longer," Erdogan said during an awards ceremony in Istanbul.

"Of course, this is not an open waiting period," he said, underlining his country's intention to carry out an assault in "the coming months" on the Kurdish fighters, known as the People's Protection Units (YPG), who played a key role in the U.S.-led fight against the Islamic State (IS) in Syria.

Peter Baker and Maggie Haberman
Dec. 22, 2018
WASHINGTON — When President Trump grows frustrated with advisers during meetings, which is not an uncommon occurrence, he sits back in his chair, crosses his arms and scowls. Often he erupts. “Fucking idiots!” he calls his advisers.

For two years, Mr. Trump has waged war against his own government, convinced that people around him are fools. Angry that they resist his wishes, uninterested in the details of their briefings, he becomes especially agitated when they tell him he does not have the power to do what he wants, which makes him suspicious that they are secretly undermining him.

Now, the president who once declared that “I alone can fix” the system increasingly stands alone in a system that seems as broken as ever. The swirl of recent days — a government shutdown, spiraling scandals, tumbling stock markets, abrupt troop withdrawals and the resignation of his alienated defense secretary — has left the impression of a presidency at risk of spinning out of control.

At the midpoint of his term, Mr. Trump has grown more sure of his own judgment and more cut off from anyone else’s than at any point since taking office. He spends ever more time in front of a television, often retreating to his residence out of concern that he is being watched too closely.

This is like the end of the Nixon administration. He drank scotch. Trump watches Fox and friends and Rush Limbaugh.

You actually believe this shit?

The United States is no longer the sole superpower in the world. Of course, it is the most dominant force on the planet, but that dominance—relative to the capabilities of other countries—has declined. Revanchist states, such as Russia, China, or Iran—even “friendly” states that have become disenchanted by the West, such as Turkey—are now arising to complicate U.S. foreign policy in ways not experienced since the nineteenth century. This is particularly true in the vital region of the Middle East.

If the world has entered a multipolar age in which many, variegated powers compete with one another in an endless game of dominance over limited territory and resources, then the Mideast is the definitive example of the trend. All of the problems the United States is facing today are playing themselves out with terminal intensity in the land between Europe and Asia, also known as the Middle East.

Incredibly stupid. Historically speaking the United States is still the only superpower.

I went to the Wharton School of Business," he noted several times. "I'm, like, a really smart person."

"Why do you have to tell us all the time that you went to Wharton?" moderator Chuck Todd asked. "People know you're successful."

"They know it's a great business school," Trump replied.

You might be forgiven for thinking from this, as I did, that Trump has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. He doesn't.

He actually has an undergraduate degree for the two years he spent there. Yes, I said two years. Trump was not able to get into the Wharton School (undergraduate) when he applied to college. He spent his first two years at Fordham University – a respectable school, but nowhere near as rigorous as Wharton (either undergraduate or graduate). The circumstances of his admissions are not clear, but the Daily Caller suggested that Trump may have used a family connection to gain admittance.

So instead of saying, "I'm smart because I went to Wharton!" Trump should be saying, "I'm smart because I went to Fordham for two years, and then Wharton for my final two years!"

Trump apparently graduated Wharton without any honors. Like Obama, he refuses to release his grades.

Roger - a week ago, not a single one of you could tell us how many troops (if any) were in Syria. Even today, it's very unlikely that anyone here could tell us what those troops had been doing (without looking it up).

So does it sound like a bad idea or a good one? The only thing that is obvious is that it wasn't exactly a conventional move or one that endured Trump to his conservative bedfellows.

I suspect that if Obama (not Trump) had pulled troops out of Syria, many who are complaining today would be talking a different tune. At the end of the day, I doubt that 2000 troops in Syria is making a difference one way or the other.

What we should have figured out is that much of this is about putting up a good defense, not necessarily a good offense. It seems that 99% of the time, these militants are created because of actions of western countries (specifically military action).

I suppose it's hard to watch the "inferior infidels" walk into their lands with their superior military and kick their asses. Probably pisses off a lot of prideful young men.

The irony is that having troops in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, is a neoconservative Bush 43 military/foreign policy strategy. You know, the one that the left hated when it was put into place. Now you hate the fact that someone is coming along and breaking up that strategy?

Make up your mind.

Do you still want the Bush 43 neo-conservative military strategy in the Middle East, or do you want something different?

This is what I have been thinking. No, this isn't what made me think like this before. I have been posting this before but it's more detailed than I said before.

Perhaps the timing of George H.W. Bush’s death last month was merciful. This way he didn’t have to see America lose the Cold War.

Bush presided over the Soviet Union’s collapse in 1991. But the triumph he and others earned with American blood and treasure over 71 years, defeating the Soviet Union and keeping its successor in check, has been squandered by President Trump in just two.

Trump’s unraveling of the post-war order accelerated this week when he announced a willy-nilly pullout from Syria, leaving in the lurch scores of allies who participated in the campaign against the Islamic State, throwing our Kurdish partners to the wolves, isolating Israel, and giving Russia and Iran free rein in the Middle East. Then word emerged that Trump is ordering another hasty withdrawal, from Afghanistan. Trump’s defense secretary, retired Gen. Jim Mattis, resigned in protest of the president’s estrangement of allies and emboldening of Russia and China.

Trump has lost the cold war with his surrender in Syria.

It’s official. We lost the Cold War.

Meet the new boss.

Rush said, "That's been the objective to end this Congress without a shutdown? That's how we are going to define success? It's not how we define success. It is apparently how, inside the beltway defines it --- meanwhile, the border remains wide open, and the Democrats are going to be controlling the House in just a few weeks."

He continued, " Are now gloating and telling the president you can't get any money from anywhere else in the budget. This is textbook. It's a textbook example of what the drive-by media calls compromise. Trump gets nothing and the Democrats get everything, including control of the House."

When you don't have the votes the two parties usually negotiate to at least keep the federal government open. CR's have been relatively peaceful until Obama was elected and now they must be approved by Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Fox and Friends before voted on by Congress under Donald Trump's leadership.

On Thursday's program Limbaugh told his flock of geese that he received a direct message from Trump, "You tell Rush that if there’s no money in this, it’s getting vetoed. If there’s no money for a wall I’m vetoing this plain and simple."

And there you have it.

Facebook Closes 5 Accounts Tied to Russia-Like Tactics in Alabama Senate Race

The company acted in response to reports in The New York Times, The Washington Post and other news outlets in recent days that a small group of social media experts had secretly used deceptive tactics in the Alabama race that were explicitly modeled on Russia’s meddling in the 2016 American presidential election. The group sought to split the conservative vote to undermine the Republican candidate, Roy S. Moore, and to boost support for the Democrat, Doug Jones, who won by a small margin.

Mr. Morgan has said the operation was an experiment to learn more about the kinds of methods Russia had used, and not to influence the outcome of the race. But the episode has sparked fears that the fraudulent Russian operations on social media could be imitated widely by American political operatives and further undermine voters’ ability to sort truth from fakery as they choose candidates.

Of course this "experiment" spent a little over $100,000 dollars just in Alabama, about the amount Russia spent totally on Facebook in 2016 on elections...

And those reports about Russian trolls involved with the Alabama election...turned out to be Democrats.....

I commented long before the Milbank comments.

Unlike you I have always been studying the world history and current issues. I think for myself. You depend upon Trump and all of the online right wing websites to form your opinions.

I don't.

Think for yourself one fucking time.

says the clown who cannot assemble a coherent thought without an army of trump hating media clowns to provide the copy/paste material.

you actually think that keeping a military presence in the ME is going to prevent another 9/11 style attack, alky?

how exactly?

under 0linsky the CIA's communication network was blown, so that's a problem. without that, it's going to be near impossible to collect the intel needed to stop another attack.

the simple fact is that you cannot articulate a good reason to remain in syria. the rebels have a problem that the rebels need to solve. just because putin is trying to gain leverage there is not a good enough reason imo to stay. he's already allied with iran, so that won't change. and it was your dear leader that gave the iranian mullahs the cash to buy their weapons from putin.

so unless you're telling me that we need to stay to clean up 0linsky's massive fuck-up, i'm with trump. bring our boys home. if they're bored and need to see some action we have several hundred miles of southern border that can use reinforcing.

alky, you've proved yourself incapable of giving us the details of why we need to remain in the ME, especially in hot war zones like syria.

i could understand if someone would advocate for bases in SA, israel, or other friendly nations. as scott said, it is our military presence and action that helps to radicalize these death cult members. islam is a fucking mental illness to begin with. it doesn't take much for one of it's idiot adherents to want to detonate themselves. our presence encourages that.

you let your hatred of all things trump inform your beliefs, and keep letting imbeciles like milbank and that twat haberman do your talking for you.

there's no hope for you. there never has been. sit there and stew in your little mexifornia hovel and do what you do best - keep rooting AGAINST America.

Yeah this is a repost but I needed to shove it up your ass rrb. You simple minded angry asshole.

Trump's decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria drew the ire of McGurk and Defense Secretary James Mattis, two of the highest-ranking officials involved in the U.S.' Syria operation. Both resigned because of their opposition to Trump's decision, joining dozens of national security experts, world leaders and congressmen who have decried the withdrawal as a dangerous move.

The idea that the border with Mexico is far more important than the stability of the middle east and containment of terrorist groups is ridiculous.

It's based upon his deeply racist beliefs and fears that the changing demographics will result in the Democrats will reverse the Reagan revolution.

Trump is the new Herbert Hoover. The stock market collapse hasn't been this bad since 1931.

Trump has given the Democrats a present that will last for two decades or more.

To deploy combat forces to combat the convanse of men, women and children who are seeking asylum is quite possibly a violation of the Constitution. It's not permitted to deploy combat troops for political purposes.

They are not aggressive military forces.

If the Mexican army was attacking the United States then he would have the authority to protect the border.

But they are not doing that.

C/P? No it's not Jimmy asshole from Buffalo New York.

it's impossible for me to tell, alky. 99% of your posts are the words of others. it's a rare occasion when you post your own.

and btw, asshole...

i don't live in buffalo.

nice town, i have friends there, but it's not where i call home.

you are correct about one thing -

like mexifornia, NY is a very blue state. and like mexifornia, we're losing population. 48,000 in the last year alone. liberals destroy things. it's what they do. and when a liberal destroys a state, people with the means LEAVE. it's what THEY do.

the next census will probably cost NY a couple of house seats. the brilliance required to net that result is absolutely stunning. and the best part - democrats now control both chambers of the NY legislature, and of course the governorship. so i would expect the exodus to accelerate.

i mean, we here in NY are so fucking brilliant, we just gave the richest guy in the world, who runs the richest company in the world, three fucking billion fucking dollars of taxpayers fucking money to open shop here.

So, Albany is just as bad....

And they move to the Villages in floriduh for the golf, mild winters and red neighbors.....You can sell a double wide in NY and have a home in the villages....yep.....thousands of jobs is something you should just let go to Mississippi......the most uneducated state in the union....

anyway... i have one remaining elderly relative in my care. when they're gone, so am i. and not south either. especially not florida. too many ny state employee retirees there. fucking morons all, just like you and the alky.

The air support and artillery fire provided support for the Kurds who were fighting against Isis.

That simple huh?

From what I understand, the conflict right now is between factions of Shite Iranian-Assad backers (which likely includes Russian aid) and a loose affiliation between some (but not all) Kurds the sunni "Brotherhood" and sunni "al-Qaeda". Everyone involved (including Russia) would claim to be fighting the same foe (ISIS) but obviously everyone seem more intent on fighting each other (since there really isn't much of an ISIS presence anymore anyways).

So which side are we on, Roger?
Which side should we be on?

Are we Americans so upset about Russian influence in the election that we are willing to provide military support for a splintered bunch of factions that actually are known to include pockets of "al-Qaeda"... all under the guise to overthrow Assad? (when our CIA and other intelligence agencies have determined that to be a lost cause)?

The middle east is always going to be in conflict for the foreseeable future. An "exit" strategy demand is ridiculous. There will always be conflicts between the various countries and religions groups within the Muslim population. Unfortunately those conflicts have negatively consequences. For example 9/11.

The irony of this statement; Osama Bin Laden's rational for the 9/11 attack was the American presents in Saudi Arabia.

Yes I think for myself. it's obvious you do not.

No, I believe Russia will think twice before getting involved in Afghanistan again.
