CNN cameras were at the raid of Roger Stone...so FBI obviously tipped off CNN...even if you don’t like Stone, it is curious why Mueller’s office tipped off CNN instead of trying to quietly arrest Stone;quiet arrests are more likely to be safe to the FBI and the person arrested

According to the indictment, on Oct. 3, 2016, Mr. Stone sent an email to a “supporter involved with the Trump Campaign” that read: “Spoke to my friend in London last night. The payload is still coming.”

The next day, Mr. Stone also told a “high-ranking member of the Trump Campaign” that Wikileaks would release “a load every week going forward.”

On Oct. 7, when Wikileaks released the first set of emails, an “associate of the high ranking Trump Campaign official” sent a text to Mr. Stone that read “well done.” Later Mr. Stone claimed credit for “having correctly predicted” the Oct. 7 release, the indictment said.

According to the indictment, Mr. Stone in fact had asked two people to pass on a request to Mr. Assange for documents potentially damaging to the Clinton campaign.

Roger

Why wasn't Stone charged with a real crime?

Because it sounds like you are suggesting what he did was some sort of crime, but yet, he wasn't charged for any of those events?

Of course the email hacking was probably a crime. Passing them off to a reporter/media person to publish is probably a crime.

But we know that reporters are not charged with crimes for publishing stolen or illegal material, and certainly those people who know these reporters are are aware of the acts of publishing are not responsible for any crime.

So why exactly are you concerned that Assange (or someone associate with Assange) may (or may not have) told people (including possibly Roger Stone) prior to the release that something was coming?

Are you suggesting that is a crime, Rog?

Are media alerts teasing an upcoming scoop now criminal behavior?

the number is 30,000, alky.

and i'm sure you can substantiate this claim, considering the fact that you got a basic fact WRONG.

And?

Again Roger. Stone was not charged with any crimes for any of that. All the pearl clutching and teeth gnashing in the world will not change the fact that none of this was criminal and does not actually implicate anyone else in any criminal activity.

In other words... another "swing and a miss" !!!

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

the indictment includes two exchanges in which Stone denies ever communicating with his WikiLeaks intermediary via text or email.

Here’s one exchange:

Q: How did you communicate with the intermediary?

A: Over the phone.

Q: And did you have any other means of communicating with the intermediary?

A: No.

Q: No text messages, no — none of the list, right?

A: No.

Later in his testimony, Stone repeats this:

Q: So you never communicated with your intermediary in writing in any way?

A: No.

Q: Never emailed him or texted him?

A: He’s not an email guy.

Q: So all your conversations with him were in person or over the phone.

A: Correct.

But the indictment details many messages and makes clear there was no way Stone would simply have forgotten about these things.

The indictment does not charge Stone with conspiring with WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy website that published the emails, or with the Russian officers Mueller says hacked them. Instead, it accuses him of witness tampering, obstruction and false statements about his interactions related to WikiLeaks' release. Some of those false statements were made to the House intelligence committee, according to the indictment.

these charges are so flimsy and thin, any self respecting prosecutor should be embarrassed to bring them.

what the TDS infected among us fail to realize is that if a US citizen can be systematically destroyed over something as trivial as this, we should all be concerned.

Gates was originally charged with the same real crimes as Manafort, and testified against him. Manafort was charged and convicted of these same crimes, and has agreed to testify against some of his other partners who did the same thing.

That's how it works. You get people to cop to a crime in order to testify against someone else who committed the same crime.

Problem is that Stone didn't plead guilty to any real crimes here, nor was he charged with any real crimes. He's been accused of process crimes. People accused of process crimes are only going to testify against other people who may have been involved in the same process.

So he has no credibility to testify against anyone about anything.

This is an attempt to get him to turn on the President to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison.

------

Over the course of his nearly two-year-long probe, Mueller and his team of prosecutors have now indicted 33 individuals and three Russian businesses on charges ranging from computer hacking to conspiracy and financial crimes.

Those indictments have led to seven guilty pleas and three people sentenced to prison. Four former Trump campaign officials -- including his onetime national security adviser Michael Flynn and campaign chairman Paul Manafort, also a former associate of Stone – are among those who have pleaded guilty.

In October, ABC News reported that special counsel prosecutors had been asking Manafort — their newest cooperating witness — about Stone, who was Manafort’s friend and had also been his partner at the lobbying firm Black, Manafort, Stone and Kelly in the 1980s, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Stone told ABC News in November, “There’s no circumstance under which I bear false witness against President Trump.”

ABC News' Aaron Katersky contributed to this report.

The Godfather administration

The indictment accuses Stone of carrying out a "prolonged effort" to keep New York radio host Randy Credico, referred to as Person 2, from contradicting his testimony before the House intelligence committee. During that effort, prosecutors note that Stone repeatedly told Credico to "do a 'Frank Pentangeli,'" a reference to a character in "The Godfather: Part II" who lies before a congressional committee.

One of the Trump campaign officials cited in the indictment is Steve Bannon, who later became Trump's chief strategist in the White House. Bannon, referred to as a "high-ranking Trump Campaign official," exchanged emails with Stone in October 2016 about WikiLeaks' plans for releasing hacked material. The incitement quotes from those emails, which had previously been made public by news outlets.

Stone is scheduled to appear in court in Florida later Friday.

You don't have to be an attorney to read an indictment.

You don't have to be an attorney to see that even with the lurid description of events, that none of it was alleged in the indictment as being criminal.

But you do have to be smart enough (in general) to understand the difference between a tangible criminal action and a process crime.

This is apparently where Mueller loses you and Rog. Sorry that your comprehension is not where it needs to be.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has indicted Roger Stone, a former advisor to President Donald Trump, on seven charges, which include witness tampering, making false statements, and obstruction of justice. Well Denny...

Nobody claims it's not something you go to jail for. Papadopoulos got 30 days, Van der Zwaan got 30 days, Flynn was (and still is) recommended by Special Counsel to get less.

But the things everyone is talking about (the fact that he reached out to someone from Wikileaks) was not what he was indicted for (because it is not criminal). Not only that, but there is no actual link from Stone to Trump in the non-criminal actions (even if they had been criminal).

Yet, somehow, some people believe that "this" is the one to bring down Trump!

good stuff.
