Buzzfeed at it again!

A Russian-born lobbyist who attended the controversial Trump Tower meeting in June 2016 received a series of suspicious payments totaling half a million dollars before and after the encounter.

Documents reviewed by BuzzFeed News show that Rinat Akhmetshin, a Soviet military officer turned Washington lobbyist, deposited large, round-number amounts of cash in the months preceding and following the meeting, where a Russian lawyer offered senior Trump campaign officials dirt on Hillary Clinton.

The lobbyist also received a large payment that bank investigators deemed suspicious from Denis Katsyv, whose company Prevezon Holdings was accused by the US Justice Department of laundering the proceeds of a $230 million Russian tax fraud.

Now, let's be clear here. These are two entirely different stories. The first is that a Russian born lobbyist received odd payments. The second is that he attended the Trump tower meeting. There is literally no actual evidence of anything that even remotely connects the two together. More to the point, if these payments had come from someone involved with the Trump campaign, I doubt that those payments would still be considered "mysterious" as we would know where they came from.

The other point that many people have pointed out is that Akhmetshin also works for (or on behalf) of Fusion GPS, which is tied to the DNC, Hillary Clinton, and the Steele dossier. Apparently this "known" affiliation with a group who was heavily involved in opposition research of Donald Trump does not draw the same curiosity as does the fact that he once met Trump Jr and a couple of other people.

Given the logical choice between suspecting a single visit with members of the Trump campaign or his actual employment with Fusion GPS was more likely responsible for these unusual payments (some of which took place before the Trump Tower meeting was even planned) - to what degree do you have to be suffering from TDS to see the former as more likely than the latter?
