Good for the country!

Supreme Court looks likely to back Trump administration on adding citizenship question to 2020 census
"Citizen voting age population is a critical element in voting rights enforcement,
and this is getting citizenship information," Chief Justice John Roberts said.
A closely divided Supreme Court appeared almost certain Tuesday to allow the Trump administration to ask about citizenship in the 2020 census. The court's conservatives seemed unlikely to declare Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross's plan illegal or unconstitutional, refusing during an 80-minute oral argument to question his motives or reasoning.

Herein lies the problem with all of this. This is either constitutional or not constitutional. It has nothing to do with Justices gleaming "motive" or questioning "reasoning". The law allows these decisions to be made by the Commerce Secretary and the only issue that should be involved is whether or not adding the question is "legal" or "constitutional".

But that is exactly the problem we have been seeing with our entire Judiciary branch. You have some Justices who are wanting to stick to the issues of law and the constitution, while others are constantly acting like it's their job to superimpose judgement or declare issues to be "right or wrong" based on their own political beliefs.

At the end of the day, rule of law constitutional Justices are what people want. Trump is doing a spectacular job of keeping his promise. By the end of this term, he will have made a big, big dent in the troubling idea of "liberal Justices" who believe it's up to them to be super legislatures and make sure liberal policies are enacted by any means. I believe if he wins reelection, the courts will be solidified with constitutionalists who understand their role in the co-equal branches of our Government.

I was totally ambivalent to this latest BS until I read this...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-census-case-presents-how-to-preserve-white-hegemony-in-four-easy-steps/2019/04/23/ef2b6712-660b-11e9-82ba-fcfeff232e8f_story.html?utm_term=.2438eb2628ca

Again showing Wilbur Ross to be an old rich white fuck taking instructions from bannon...Not a legitimate inquiry except to preserve the power of the Old white man Party and preserve their own wealth....Next....ignoring subpoenas and ignoring the constitution and its laws....!!!

Step 4: Blame the victim.

Francisco, the top Trump administration lawyer, saved this nastiness for the final minute of the 80-minute argument. If the court disallows the citizenship question, he said, “you are effectively empowering any group in the country to knock off any question on the census if they simply get together and boycott it,” he said, raising the possibility of a boycott by gender-nonbinary people.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the only Hispanic on the high court, interrupted angrily. “Are you suggesting that Hispanics are boycotting the census? Are you suggesting . . . that they don’t have a legitimate fear?”

“Not in the slightest, Your Honor,” replied Francisco, who had done exactly that.

For decades, the decennial census sent to each household hasn’t included a citizenship question (it’s instead asked on surveys), and for good reason. Latino residents — legal or illegal — tend to resist such questions out of an (unfounded) fear the government might use the information against them or their relatives. Census Bureau research has projected a drop of at least 5.1 percent from noncitizen households if the question is added, part of an estimated undercount of 6.5 million people. This contradicts the Constitution’s requirement for an “actual enumeration of the people” — not just citizens.

If only a bunch more woke up like this guy....join the ranks of Steve Schmidt, Jolly, Danny Jones etc etc....

Iowa state Rep. Andy McKean announced Tuesday he is leaving the Republican Party and becoming a Democrat due to his misgivings over President Trump.

“With the 2020 presidential election looming on the horizon, I feel, as a Republican, that I need to be able to support the standard bearer of our party. Unfortunately, that’s something I’m unable to do,” McKean said at a press conference in Des Moines.

WASHINGTON — In the months before Kirstjen Nielsen was forced to resign, she tried to focus the White House on one of her highest priorities as homeland security secretary: preparing for new and different Russian forms of interference in the 2020 election.

President Trump’s chief of staff told her not to bring it up in front of the president.

Ms. Nielsen left the Department of Homeland Security early this month after a tumultuous 16-month tenure and tensions with the White House. Officials said she had become increasingly concerned about Russia’s continued activity in the United States during and after the 2018 midterm elections — ranging from its search for new techniques to divide Americans using social media, to experiments by hackers, to rerouting internet traffic and infiltrating power grids.

But in a meeting this year, Mick Mulvaney, the White House chief of staff, made it clear that Mr. Trump still equated any public discussion of malign Russian election activity with questions about the legitimacy of his victory. According to one senior administration official, Mr. Mulvaney said it “wasn’t a great subject and should be kept below his level.”

Now that Sarah has been out as a pathological liar.....all you slurpers will continue to hang on every word that comes out of her big fat white mouth...

n general.

This presumably pleases her boss. Mr. Trump prefers to broadcast to the public from the safety of Twitter, where truth and accountability are not held at a premium. In January, he even directed Ms. Sanders (in a tweet) “not to bother” with briefings anymore. Is a White House press secretary unwilling to interact with the press earning her taxpayer-funded salary?

In Ms. Sanders’s case, the growing lack of access is arguably less troubling than the lack of credibility — a problem highlighted in last Thursday’s release of the Mueller report.

The special counsel’s office detailed several instances in which, in her official capacity, Ms. Sanders flagrantly lied to the media and the American public.

After the firing of the F.B.I. director, James Comey, in May 2017, Ms. Sanders, then the deputy press secretary, claimed on two occasions that she’d heard from “countless” current and former agents that the “rank-and-file” had lost confidence in him. When later questioned by Mr. Mueller’s office, Ms. Sanders admitted that this was untrue — or, rather, that it had been a “slip of the tongue” made “in the heat of the moment.”

Good morning Denny,

I see you are on a rant-roll this glorious Wednesday.

You know, I lost a lot of sleep over that Iowa State Representative switching Parties. I had been really, really upset because Iowa is fairly close to Minnesota and their state House could somehow affect me someday in some manner (even though I am not sure how).

But then I realized that this McKean gentleman had been voting with the Democrats for some time, and even crossed over on issues like Gun Control and Judges. It seems his switch was at least as much ideological as anything else, and really isn't going to change much, other than he will have to run in a conservative district now as a Democrat.

Missed It By That Much: Hillary Clinton Almost Wins 'Wheel Of Fortune' But Then Shouts 'Easter Worshiper' Instead Of 'Christian'

Some people think Hillary Clinton is robotic and hard to sympathize with, but even our hearts went out to her on this one.

On a special politicians' episode of Wheel of Fortune, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton nearly took home the grand prize. She was on the last puzzle of the regular rounds of the game, which read, CHRISTI_N. The audience began to cheer as it appeared Clinton had finally won something.

But, as is usual for Clinton, she snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and shouted "Easter worshiper!" instead of the obvious answer, which was "Christian."

Heartbreaker!

Clinton has demanded an appeal, claiming that although she lost fair and square, she feels like she won, as Christians are kinda Easter worshipers, even though no one ever says that.

Dow hit a new high yesterday.

Nancy and Chuck are in tears.

"Progressives are free to remit their savings to the U.S. Treasury.

Six months is a long time in politics. So you can be forgiven if you’ve already forgotten that it was Democrats who, back in November and December, worked feverishly to defeat the tax reform bill.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called it “a monstrosity and such a danger to the country.” House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi called it “Armageddon” and “the worst bill in the history of the United States Congress.” They howled that the bill would unjustly enrich corporations while claiming, falsely, that the poor and middle class would be stuck with higher tax bills."

Reflection.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump
The Mueller Report, despite being written by Angry Democrats and Trump Haters, and with unlimited money behind it ($35,000,000), didn’t lay a glove on me. I DID NOTHING WRONG. If the partisan Dems ever tried to Impeach, I would first head to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Apparently the Birthday boy takes issue with the idea that a Republican would go to court over a silly political issue?

#hypocrisy_is_the_bedrock_of_liberalism

that being said, I think it's Trump's way to egg Democrats on. He wants them to vote on impeachment and make the election about the fact that Democrats want to live in the past, and not focus on future policy!

Sad how little our Lil Scotty uses facts anymore...just opinion and trolls.....LOLOLOL

Interesting insight to what Lil Scotty calls a hoax and fake....!!!
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/04/24/what-steele-dossier-said-vs-what-mueller-report-said/?utm_term=.e1df66af22db

Defenders of the dossier say its overall message — that Russia wanted to help Trump win the election, in part to sow discord in the United States — has been validated by the Mueller report. Detractors say many of the details have been proved false or remain unverified.

Neither case is confirmed by the Mueller report. Mueller was looking for criminal acts, not seeking to confirm the dossier. In fact, Steele is rarely mentioned in the more than 400 pages. So one cannot necessarily say the Mueller report ends the matter, given a continuing counterintelligence investigation. But some key elements certainly appear in grave doubt.

“The Mueller Report substantiates the core reporting and many of the specifics in Christopher Steele’s 2016 memoranda, including that Trump campaign figures were secretly meeting Kremlin figures, that Russia was conducting a covert operation to elect Donald Trump, and that the aim of the Russian operation was to sow discord and disunity in the U.S. and within the Transatlantic Alliance,” Joshua A. Levy, counsel for Fusion GPS, told The Fact Checker. “To our knowledge, nothing in the Steele memoranda has been disproven.”

Here’s a guide to how elements of the dossier match up with the Mueller report, along with our analysis.

“Russian regime has been cultivating, supporting and assisting TRUMP for at least 5 years. Aim, endorsed by PUTIN, has been to encourage splits and divisions in western alliance.”

— Steele memo 80, dated June 20, 2016

The Mueller report documents extensive Russian efforts to ensure Trump’s victory, through hacking operations and social media efforts. Mueller also details Trump’s business interests in Russia, especially pursuit of a Trump Tower project in Moscow.

Talks on the project continued even as Trump pursued the presidency — and Trump aide Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to misleading Congress about those efforts. But a case could also be made that the memo’s political analysis about Russia’s motivations might have been made by any close reader of the newspapers. By the time this memo was written, The Washington Post had already broken the news that Russia had hacked the Democratic National Committee.

“There were other aspects to TRUMP’s engagement with the Russian authorities. One which had borne fruit for them was to exploit personal obsessions and sexual perversion in order to obtain suitable ‘kompromat’ [compromising material] on him.”

Well Denny,

The difference is that I can read the Mueller report and make up my own mind. You know the actual "factual" report.

You apparently rely on some opinion writer for WaPo in order to still believe (somehow) that the Steele Dossier was a real document.

Your idea that the Mueller report is opinion and troll.

While an opinion writer's opinion posted on an opinion page of WaPo is actually the fact...

Is Classic Denny logic!

Commonsense said...

BWAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! The only reason mueller did not indict is due to the DOJ rule about indicting a sitting POTUS..

The report itself, and Barr's summary plainly stated the evidence was evaluated without regard to the rule. In Mueller's case he couldn't make a decision on whether there should be enough for an indictment and pass the decision to Barr.

Barr on the other hand said there was not enough evidence for an indictment.

In all cases they made crystal clear the DOJ rule didn't figure into their deliberations. If he was citizen Trump instead of president Trump they would have come to the same conclusion.

Yet you persist in this lie. You've become a collusion truther. A nut job with a tin hat.
