Julian Castro qualifies

10th Democrat to qualify for the debate(s)

A few more candidates qualify and we still might see two separate debates again. That being said, we will likely only see as few as one more qualify, and probably no more than an additional four. If I had to guess, I might put the over/under at 12. That's a lot of candidates on a stage.

Have Pollsters Learned Nothing since the Last Election?
...
Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking poll, on August 16, showed President Trump 3 percentage points higher than President Obama at the exact same point in his presidency, 46 versus 43 percent total approval. Obama was easily reelected to a second term.

Gallup shows Trump with a 41 percent approval rating, exactly the same as Obama in the third year of his presidency. Interestingly, Ronald Reagan was only at 43 percent approval in the third year of his presidency and won a 49-state landslide reelection. In contrast, George H.W. Bush sat at 71 percent approval in his third year and lost reelection.

@Doc_0

Remember when the media would grill Republican candidates with obscure questions about foreign policy to make them look provincial and unready for the office, like "Who is the vice foreign minister of Whogivesadamnistan?"

Think they'll do that with Joe Biden?

or any of these, unless the media has chosen one to attack.

It's a Democrat debate, I'm sure the questions will be softball and fed to the candidates before the debate.

On an amusing note; it's kind of fun watching certain Democrat candidates back off from their more radical positions when they find out "twitter Democrats" are different from real Democrats.

RNC Destroys DNC in Latest Fundraising Totals...Again

The Republican National Committee has published its fundraising numbers for July 2019 and once again they've completely destroyed the Democratic National Committee on totals.

"In July, the RNC continued to see record enthusiasm for President Trump’s agenda and Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is leading the charge: Since 2018, major donors have increased from 33% to roughly 45% of total fundraising. This past month was our best off-cycle July in party history," the RNC released Wednesday. "We brought in $20.8 million in receipts in July (nearly 3 times that of the DNC). Cycle to date, the RNC has brought in $117.9 million. We also had our largest online fundraising July ever (1100% more than July 2016 and 1900% more than July 2015)."

While the RNC raised $20.8 million in July, the DNC raised just $7.7 million.

This is telling a story that most media-driven polls are not.

The story is that, at this stage of the election, there is far more enthusiasm for Trump and the Republicans than there is for Democrats. This may change when the Democrats coalesce around a nominee but given the choice among the 24 dwarfs I wouldn't bet on it.

Trump is going to have well over a billion dollars to savage whoever becomes the nominee.

All of Trump's "negatives" are already built in. We have been investigating everything and anything Trump related for three years. No Stone has been left unharassed (pun intended). There isn't going to be any sort of October surprise for Trump. Not short of someone finding smoking gun evidence that he is a mass murderer.

But which of these Democrats are going to be able to withstand the same scrutiny. Even if the media doesn't provide it, $1.5 billion will buy an awful lot of exposure to whatever warts are on the nominee.

Biden's China connections come to mind right off the bat. No the mention his mental acuity.

Sander's Soviet connections may become more apparent.

neither of those situations receive any mentions or attention as long as both of them stay off fox news.

there's a reason the DNC refuses to hold a debate on fox.
