What the GOP attack doesn’t say is that McBath became a gun control activist and got into politics because her son was shot and killed.

I happen to agree with the President and those who believe that there are plenty of historical, cultural, and academic reasons to not revise history and pretend that certain things and certain people didn't exist. You cannot whitewash everything out of history that "offends" someone in 2019.
Our children and grandchildren deserve the chance to learn about our history the same way that every generation as learned about it (based on what actually happened). They deserve the chance to make up their own minds about which historical monuments they may want to visit and why.
