In fiscal year 2012 — the peak year for deportations under Obama — the agency removed an average of roughly 34,000 people per month.

From 2009 to 2016, his administration oversaw the forcible removal of more than 3 million undocumented immigrants—most of whom were sent back to Mexico. Neither Bill Clinton, nor George W. Obama's immigration policies softened with time as Latino activists increasingly put pressure on his administration. My best guess is you are referring to the gang of "former attorneys or prosecutors" (many of whom were current politicians) who made such a statement.
