Is Biden just done?

So this latest "whistle blower" scandal has attracted a bit of grief for both Joe Biden and Donald Trump. But one thing becomes crystal clear in all of this. This Ukrainian thing is not something that can be credibly held over Trump, as long as Democrats are still trying to defend Sleepy Joe Biden and his own actions.

Biden could put Obama legacy reputation in danger

As it stands, Liz Warren just overtook Joe Biden in the state of Iowa in the RCP average. Biden is also in what appears to be a statistical tie with Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire. This could spell major trouble for Joe. It's all about "exceeding" or "underperforming" expectations in early states. Joe will not be looked upon favorably if he doesn't win one or the other.

Couple these problems with the possible Ukrainian problems as well as any other unearthed Obama era scandals and it seems reasonable to assume that many Democrats may decide that Joe Biden has too much downside. After all, is this Ukrainian thing the "only" scandal that might rock Biden if he were to become the nominee? Moreover, do Democrats (as a whole) want the media to start digging deeper into the Obama/Biden years in attempts to uncover scandals? Certainly many things were swept under the rug back then. Does anyone want those rugs pulled back up?

Biden has always been a bad candidate. He still is a bad candidate. He hasn't performed well in any of the debates. He hasn't performed well on the stump. He is still prone to gaffes and it only seems to be getting worse. As the idea of his inevitability and electability starts to crumble, so will his momentum.

We could look back on this whole Ukrainian "whistle blower" incident as the true turning point for Joe Biden's ultimate demise.

unearthed Obama era scandals

Like him leaving a robust economy for trump to run into the ground......Trump is hiding something with the Ukraine thingy......Biden son worked on the BOD......seems to me a rather large stretch of proving something nefarious....Trumps MO has always been to run his competition out of NY with lawsuits threats and intimidation .....exactly what he is doing now.....He don't give a shit about rules, just winning.....and you endorse the horseshit and support him soliciting aid from a foreign source to interfere with our election....Too bad you are too fucking stupid to see that.....can't fix your stupidity or bias as your brain has taken over by the drunken power of a tyrant!!!!

It's not what you are wasting your time on.

The left side of the Democratic party is more likely to get out and vote in the primaries for Warren.

Your devotion to your Commander in Chief leads you to use the same crazy crap like Sleepy Joe Biden.

If Hillary Clinton had been using the executive authority as much as Trump is doing, you would be calling for her beheading like in the French revolution.

Nothing can fix fix your stupidity or bias as your brain has taken over by the drunken power of a tyrant!!!!

Reports that President Donald Trump brazenly and repeatedly pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to cooperate with Rudy Giuliani in investigating Hunter Biden have led even the more moderate legal experts to suggest that impeachment may be necessary. As the sordid details of Giuliani’s role in the alleged disinformation plot continue to mount, the backlash against the president’s personal lawyer has intensified, with at least one former federal prosecutor calling for him to be disbarred and another suggesting he may have opened himself up to criminally liability.

Giuliani defended himself and Trump on Saturday, claiming that his conduct with regard to the Biden’s and Ukraine was completely legal.

“Whistleblower story, like [Brett] Kavanaugh story, is blowing up,” he tweeted, comparing the situation to the recent allegations against the Supreme Court justice. “Now no mention of money or quid pro quo. So appropriate conduct. Now we must look at Biden Family pattern of corruption of selling his public offices for 5 decades. Pattern of corruption enabled by Swamp.”

But while the president did not directly threaten to withhold U.S. funds from Ukraine absent cooperation, the administration did put a hold on $250 million in military assistance for the country after Trump personally ordered a review of the aid package.

Mimi Rocah, a former federal prosecutor with the Southern District of New York, responded to Giuliani by comparing him to a mafia underling following the orders of a crime boss.

“This how mafia bosses work. Trump is The Godfather of this era.

“Why is this man still a member of the NY a bar? He should not be. He is free as a [United States] citizen to make up stuff but not as member of the bar,” she wrote.

Rocah’s take on Giuliani was echoed by former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti, who categorized the ordeal as an affront to the office of the president.

“Giuliani falsely claims it’s ‘appropriate’ for the President to bully a foreign country into investigating his political rival,” he wrote, adding, “The problem with Trump’s conduct isn’t a quid pro quo. It’s the abuse of presidential power to get aid from a foreign nation in an election.”

University of Michigan law professor Barb McQuade went ever further, suggesting that Giuliani could face criminal charges for his conduct.

“While a sitting President cannot be indicted, Giuliani can,” the former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan wrote Saturday morning. “More facts are needed, but if he brokered deal to trade dirt on Biden for foreign aid, he could be guilty of conspiracy to commit bribery. Trump would return to his familiar role as Individual 1.”

US Embassy pressed Ukraine to drop probe of George Soros group during 2016 election

While the 2016 presidential race was raging in America, Ukrainian prosecutors ran into some unexpectedly strong headwinds as they pursued an investigation into the activities of a nonprofit in their homeland known as the Anti-Corruption Action Centre (AntAC).

The focus on AntAC — whose youthful street activists famously wore “Ukraine F*&k Corruption” T-shirts — was part of a larger probe by Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office into whether $4.4 million in U.S. funds to fight corruption inside the former Soviet republic had been improperly diverted.

The prosecutors soon would learn the resistance they faced was blowing directly from the U.S. Embassy in Kiev, where the Obama administration took the rare step of trying to press the Ukrainian government to back off its investigation of both the U.S. aid and the group.

“The investigation into the Anti-Corruption Action Center (sic), based on the assistance they have received from us, is similarly misplaced,” then-embassy Charge d’ Affaires George Kent wrote the prosecutor’s office in April 2016 in a letter that also argued U.S. officials had no concerns about how the U.S. aid had been spent.

At the time, the nation’s prosecutor general had just been fired, under pressure from the United States, and a permanent replacement had not been named.

A few months later, Yuri Lutsenko, widely regarded as a hero in the West for spending two years in prison after fighting Russian aggression in his country, was named prosecutor general and invited to meet new U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.
Lutsenko told me he was stunned when the ambassador “gave me a list of people whom we should not prosecute.” The list included a founder of the AntAC group and two members of Parliament who vocally supported the group’s anti-corruption reform agenda, according to a source directly familiar with the meeting.

It turns out the group that Ukrainian law enforcement was probing was co-funded by the Obama administration and liberal mega-donor George Soros. And it was collaborating with the FBI agents investigating then-Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort’s business activities with pro-Russian figures in Ukraine.

Scott used to be a somewhat different but respected and reasonable man.

But since Trump was elected President, he's lost his mind. Or his hatred for liberals has clouded his mind about politics in a democratic republic.

Neither side has all the answers on how to govern. But he actually believes that the FBI/DOJ were in a deep state conspiracy to either reverse the election, or destroy Donald Trump, despite a good economic upturn.

The problem I hold dear, is the President should not be able to do anything he wants, without consequences. Like walking down 5th street and shooting people dead, and not get arrested.

and that the fact he was leading an investigation into a business tied to Hunter Biden and another tied to George Soros was simply a coincidence that nobody in the Administration was aware of?

Said Pompeo: “Those are private conversations between world leaders and it wouldn’t be appropriate to do so except in the most extreme circumstances.”

Giuliani Says ‘This Town’ Protects Joe Biden

Rudy Giuliani charged that “this town protects Joe Biden,” Politico reports.

Said Giuliani: “His family has been taking money from his public office for years. Ladies and gentlemen, go look at what the press has been covering up.”

He added: “I went there to get dirt on Joe Biden. I got a nice straight case of Ukrainian collusion, and the minute I say ‘Biden’ the Washington press corps is going to go nuts. They’ve been covering it up for years.”

Trump Forcing Many House Republicans to Exits

A Washington Post analysis shows that “nearly 40 percent of the 241 Republicans who were in office in January 2017 are gone or leaving because of election losses, retirements including former House speaker Paul Ryan, and some who are simply quitting in disgust.”

“The vast turnover is a reminder of just how much Trump has remade the GOP — and of the purge of those who dare to oppose him.”

Past the Tipping Point on Impeachment

Jennifer Rubin: “Trump doesn’t seem to dispute the facts. Rather, he is trying to prevent concrete, glaring evidence from emerging. He apparently thinks it’s perfectly fine to lean on a foreign power to help him win an election.”

“Given all that, impeachment may look very different. A single article of impeachment based on an incontrovertible abuse of power would make Democrats’ job much easier. The difficultly that at-risk Republicans face in explaining to voters why they countenance such conduct begins to outweigh any downside for Democrats in pursuing impeachment, even if the eventual outcome is acquittal in the Senate.”

“The argument for Democrats — namely that Republicans are spineless lackeys who have violated their oaths of office — is far easier to maintain than the Republicans’ assertion that it’s nuts to remove a president who goes to a foreign power to help reelect him.”

Trump Says He Might Release Transcript of Call

“President Trump told reporters on Sunday that he would consider releasing a transcript of his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is said to be the subject of an intelligence community whistleblower complaint,” The Hill reports.

He defended his conversation with Zelensky as “perfect.”

Well Roger...

The proof is in the pudding. I am happily married, still doing well at my job, and completely happy. I don't "hate" anyone and do not spend my time spamming people with conspiracy theories about the President.

My problems with the FBI are entirely tied to everything that the Inspector General has already confirmed, and what everyone expects that the Inspector General will confirm with his next report. Multiple agents have been reassigned, demoted, and fired. Multiple have been referred by the IG for criminal prosecution.

None of that is a "conspiracy theory" Roger.

Those are facts that cannot be denied.

The fact that you are okay with this behavior is appalling.

Meanwhile, you have been thrown out of your house, divorced, have a restraining order on you, had to beg for money on FB, went to your daughter for help, and apparently have taken up residence in a hotel room.

Oh, and no sane person would be caught dead that ridiculous hair cut you are sporting. If you wanted to look as crazy as you are acting, that is the way to do so!

So if one of us has lost his shit, it certainly doesn't appear to be me.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The Coldheartedtruth is the President should be impeached.

What Trump is alleged to have done is not a garden variety crime; it’s worse. It involved misusing $250 million in aid appropriated by Congress for his benefit—the kind of gross misconduct that easily clears the bar of high crimes and misdemeanors set by the Constitution when impeaching a president. Which means the best way to hold Trump accountable for that misconduct isn’t a criminal trial; it’s for Congress to impeach him.

Pursuing criminal cases that won’t stand legal scrutiny, or arguing that Trump has violated a criminal statute, risks undermining that goal.

First, it gives the false impression that this is something the criminal justice system can deal with. But the criminal system is not built to handle misconduct by a president who is acting corruptly through the use of his or her immense constitutional powers in this manner.

Second, it suggests that if critics can point out that it is not really bribery or extortion, then it is not a huge problem, which is not true. This is already happening, as allies of the president assert that there was no explicit quid pro quo.

Third, it may give the public a false impression about what happened. Impeachment in many respects is a political act, and that means Congress needs public support to pursue it. Anything that confuses or fails to convince the public is therefore counterproductive.

Finally, it understates the magnitude of the alleged misconduct. Labeling Trump’s alleged conduct as “bribery” or “extortion” cheapens what is alleged to have occurred and does not capture what makes it wrongful. It’s not a crime—it’s a breach of the president’s duty to not use the powers of the presidency to benefit himself. And he invited a foreign nation to influence the 2020 presidential election on the heels of a nearly three-year investigation that proved Russia had tried to influence the 2016 presidential election.

No one should expect law enforcement to act if our elected representatives are unwilling to do so.

The Democrats and Speaker Pelosi have to go ahead with impeachment hearings, not just investigations. The house can decide if he committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

Pelosi is not in favor of impeachment, yet. She is looking at it as a political issue, but this is just too dangerous to take a cautious approach.

We have to make sure that any successive President is not allowed to do any goddamn thing he wants to do. We have three branches of government. This President is turning it into a dictatorship.

The CIA has used secrecy—which is essential to competent intelligence—to hide how little it really knows beyond what is in the public realm as well as all it does to support its favorite people and policies, and to oppose the others.

Passing off its opinions as facts and refusing to support them by claiming to be constrained by security is its stock-in-trade. Junior persons in the media fall for that. But veterans at the Washington Post and the New York Times know the game and support it.

The deep state and the media are on the same side of a political scam. They worked together to limit Ronald Reagan and to scare George W. Bush. But their assault on Donald Trump waged from behind the pretense of security is little short of a coup d’état.

The CIA’s substantial role in starting the Russian collusion hoax is sure to be among the current investigations’ principal findings, because of John Brennan’s inclinations and influence, as well as because of CIA’s international connections if for no other reason. But that was only the beginning of the Agency’s attacks on the Trump administration.

We need only cite its assertion of power to deny security clearances to the president’s advisers, thus limiting his entourage to persons acceptable to itself, and the pressures brought on him not to declassify documents which show precisely what domestic subversion it has committed. In this regard, let’s keep in mind that the CIA has been able to do this strictly because Trump has let them. Hence, he personally deserves every bit of subversion he suffers.

America does not deserve it.

The intelligence community’s bureaucrats have no right whatever to try substituting their judgment for that of anyone elected by the American people. Fundamentally, their pretenses of sovereignty are aimed at all Americans.

They consider themselves our superiors. They are not. Ever more openly, they show themselves to be our enemies

But there is no equivalency here: We fact-checked these allegations in May and found they did not add up. In fact, Biden’s case has gotten stronger with time.

Trump has claimed that Biden in 2016 pressured the Ukrainian government to fire Viktor Shokin, the top Ukrainian prosecutor, because he was investigating a Ukrainian gas producer, Burisma Holdings, that had added Biden’s son Hunter to its board. But it turns out that the investigation had already been shelved when Biden acted and may have even involved a side company, not Burisma. The Ukrainian prosecutor was regarded as a failure, and “Joe Biden’s efforts to oust Shokin were universally praised,” said Anders Aslund, a Swedish economist heavily involved in Eastern European market reforms.

Moreover, Yuri Lutsenko, a former Ukrainian prosecutor general who succeeded the fired prosecutor, told Bloomberg News that there was no evidence of wrongdoing by Joe or Hunter Biden.
