Whistle blower recap:

  • The story is the result of an anonymous leak from a former intelligence official. The speculation centers around the possibility that it was either Brennan or Clapper.
  • The so called whistle blower did not (according to multiple reports) have first hand knowledge of the events. They were acting on a rumor that they heard.
  • The Director of National Intelligence did not consider this to be an official "whistle blowing" case either due to the fact that the person did not have first hand knowledge, the activities of the President are not covered under the statute, or both of these reasons.
  • The whistle blower complaint involved an alleged phone call where the President asked the Ukrainian President about an on again off again investigation into a company associated with Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden.
  • The whistle blower complaint does not (according to all sources) involve any allegations that there was any threats, coercion, or quid pro quo involved.
  • The President denies making any threats, withholding any funding, or otherwise asking for anything in return for any actions regarding the Ukrainians and any investigations.
  • The Ukrainian government officially denies that there was any discussions with the President that involved threats or coercion regarding this (or any) investigation.
  • Several rounds of aid have been provided to the Ukrainian government from the US Government during the Trump reign, and none of that aid is currently being withheld.
Moreover
  • The Ukrainian government had originally brought this topic (the allegations of Obama administration pressures) to the the attention of people within the intelligence community, but were met with disinterest.
  • The Ukrainians continued to reach out and this is where the decision was made by the President to involve Rudy Giuliani, rather than someone else within the intelligence community.
  • Make no mistake, this was the President "reacting" to information brought to him. Not the other way around.

All of which is to say that there is a great deal of smoke being fanned here for political purposes. At the end of the day there isn't even a real valid complaint of anything that would be remotely considered illegal. Certainly nothing that rises to the level of what is alleged of Joe Biden and the previous Administration in regards to having a prosecutor (in charge of two politically motivated investigations) fired in exchange for Aid (that had already been approved by congress).

To be clear, there is literally nothing illegal about the President of the United States asking questions regarding investigations into American wrongdoing, especially when those concerns were brought from the Ukrainians in the first place. There is actually nothing illegal about the President suggesting or asking that investigations continue, if there is a reasonable reason to believe that Americans committed wrong doing.

Investigations are not "election meddling" or "digging up dirt". If investigations into political candidates are considered as such, then most every Democrat in the judiciary committee is guilty of an abuse of office for continuing to "election meddle" by "digging up dirt" on the President (and RNC candidate for President). Each and everyone of these pointless and repetitive "investigations" become (by their own definition) a form of "election meddling" and "digging up dirt". This (by their own definition) would not be an appropriate manner to wield the investigation arm of Congress.

The hypocrisy has gone from obvious to so over the top that it's accepted as the norm.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that, in a July phone call, Trump repeatedly asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to work with Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani on a probe of Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democrats' 2020 frontrunner for president. The call came a month before Trump put a hold on $250 million in military aid to Ukraine -- a hold that was eventually released after objections from the Senate.

This came after another report alleged a whistleblower raised concerns to the intel community's inspector general about a "troubling" phone conversation Trump had with a foreign leader involving some sort of "promise."

Fox News' Adam Shaw contributed to this report.

So Roger...

You keep repeating the same thing that backs up what I just wrote.

The WSJ is not saying that the President made any threats or coercion.

They quite literally offer no correlation between the call and the $250 million (which they admit quite literally had not come into play yet when the call was made). Moreover the $250 million was provided to the Ukrainians outside of any action made by the Ukrainians on anything.

So thank you for proving my point!

He divulged classified information to foreign officials.

He publicly undermined American intelligence agents while standing next to a hostile foreign autocrat.

He hired a national security adviser whom he knew had secretly worked as a foreign lobbyist.

He encourages foreign leaders to enrich him and his family by staying at his hotels.

He genuflects to murderous dictators.

He has alienated America’s closest allies.

He often declines to read briefing books or perform other basic functions of a president’s job.

He has aides, as well as members of his own party in Congress, who mock him behind his back as unfit for office.

He has repeatedly denigrated a deceased United States senator who was a war hero.

He insulted a Gold Star family — the survivors of American troops killed in action.

He described a former first lady, not long after she died, as “nasty.”

He described white supremacists as “some very fine people.”

He told four women of color, all citizens and members of Congress, to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came.”

He made a joke about Pocahontas during a ceremony honoring Native American World War II veterans.

He launched his political career by falsely claiming that the first black president was not really American.

He launched his presidential campaign by describing Mexicans as “rapists.”

He has described women, variously, as “a dog,” “a pig” and “horseface,” as well as “bleeding badly from a facelift” and having “blood coming out of her wherever.”

He has been accused of sexual assault or misconduct by multiple women.

He enthusiastically campaigned for a Senate candidate who was accused of molesting multiple teenage girls.

He waved around his arms, while giving a speech, to ridicule a physically disabled person.

He has encouraged his supporters to commit violence against his political opponents.

He has called for his opponents and critics to be investigated and jailed.

He uses a phrase popular with dictators — “the enemy of the people” — to describe journalists.

He attempts to undermine any independent source of information that he does not like, including judges, scientists, journalists, election officials, the F.B.I., the C.I.A., the Congressional Budget Office and the National Weather Service.

He has tried to harass the chairman of the Federal Reserve into lowering interest rates.

He said that a judge could not be objective because of his Mexican heritage.

He obstructed justice by trying to influence an investigation into his presidential campaign.

He violated federal law by directing his lawyer to pay $280,000 in hush money to cover up two apparent extramarital affairs.

He made his fortune partly through wide-scale financial fraud.

He has refused to release his tax returns.

He falsely accused his predecessor of wiretapping him.

He claimed that federal law-enforcement agents and prosecutors regularly fabricated evidence, thereby damaging the credibility of criminal investigations across the country.

He has ordered children to be physically separated from their parents.

He has suggested that America is no different from or better than Vladimir Putin’s Russia.

He has called America a “hellhole.”

He is the president of the United States, and he is a threat to virtually everything that the United States should stand for.

what's that Joe?
"Two years after leaving office, Joe Biden couldn’t resist the temptation last year to brag to an audience of foreign policy specialists about the time as vice president that he strong-armed Ukraine into firing its top prosecutor.

In his own words, with video cameras rolling, Biden described how he threatened Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in March 2016 that the Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees, sending the former Soviet republic toward insolvency, if it didn’t immediately fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden recalled telling Poroshenko.

“Well, son of a bitch, he got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time,” Biden told the Council on Foreign Relations event, insisting that President Obama was in on the threat.

Interviews with a half-dozen senior Ukrainian officials confirm Biden’s account, though they claim the pressure was applied over several months in late 2015 and early 2016, not just six hours of one dramatic day. Whatever the case, Poroshenko and Ukraine’s parliament obliged by ending Shokin’s tenure as prosecutor. Shokin was facing steep criticism in Ukraine, and among some U.S. officials, for not bringing enough corruption prosecutions when he was fired."

Can there be any doubt in your mind that the leaker was a Democratic mole in the White House, or a person privy to some information gleaned by the intel community who represents interests and views in conflict with the President’s?

If you think for a moment that the decision by the DNI not to turn over the leaker’s complaint to Congress was inappropriate, consider this:

1.Article II of the Constitution gives the president sweeping power to conduct foreign affairs, negotiate with leaders of other nations, make demands or offer promises. The Constitution does not grant the power of review, approval or disapproval to spies or other unelected officials in the executive branch.

2.The ICWPA law defines the parameters of an “urgent concern” complaint as an abuse or violation of law “relating to the funding, administration, or operations of an intelligence activity involving classified information, but does not include differences of opinions concerning public policy matters.” The president’s conversation with a foreign leader does not seem to fall under this whistleblower definition.

3.It appears the acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) agrees with this assessment. His agency’s general counsel wrote a letter stating the complaint did not meet the ICWPA definition because it involved conduct “from someone outside the intel community and did not relate to intelligence activity,” according to a report by Fox News. This is why the DNI refused to forward the complaint to congress.

My Facebook friend Daniel Wattenberg observes: “There is a very telling functional similarity between the Russian Collusion narrative and the new CIA Whistleblower narrative. The former made it taboo to follow the breadcrumbs to exposure of Hillary's incriminating deleted emails. The latter makes it taboo to follow the breadcrumbs to incriminating evidence of Biden strong arming a Ukrainian leader to obstruct a criminal investigation into his son's activities.”

There is also a very strong similarity between Schiff’s consistent lies about the Mueller investigation and the phony Russian Collusion story and the effort to remove the President for trying to repair relations with Ukraine, relations jeopardized by the former administration’s corruption. He hopes the moribund press will broadcast his claims loudly and readers will not go beyond those headlines. In the meantime, as is their wont, the hysterical press on the left is drooling over the possibility of another impeachment angle, all else having failed to work and the President’s popularity growing as their candidates manage to turn off tranche after tranche of voters .

Once again, Schiff pushed hard on the revolving door and it’s about to smack him and his party in the face. This coming week, President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky are set to meet. Watch for it.

“In 2016, Donald Trump blew through the guardrails of American politics. In his bid for reelection, he’s poised to blow them up,” the AP reports.

“This time around, he’s aided by the power of the presidency, with its unmatched megaphone and resources. And his latest provocation — prodding a foreign leader to investigate Democratic rival Joe Biden — suggests he sees little issue using his office for his personal political interests.”

“His actions foreshadow a no-holds-barred 2020 campaign, regardless of who Democrats select as their nominee in the coming months. “But those who know him best say this is merely the latest episode in a lifelong pattern of behavior for the congenitally combative Trump. He’s always been this way. He doesn’t stop to reflect. If he wins, he barely basks. If he loses, he doesn’t take the time to lie low or lick wounds; he invariably refuses to even admit that he lost. Trump says he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize

President Trump told reporters at the United Nations Monday that while he was deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize, he didn’t expect to be awarded one.

“I think I’m going to get a Nobel Prize for a lot of things, if they gave it out fairly, which they don’t,” Trump said following a bilateral meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

As do many U.S. conservatives, Trump then voiced frustration that former President Barack Obama received the award in 2009.

“Well, they gave one to Obama immediately upon his ascent to the presidency and he had no idea why he got it,” Trump said despite not being asked about his predecessor.

“You know what, that was the only thing I agreed with him on.”

Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize more than a year and a half into his first term of office. In its announcement, the committee said it was giving it to Obama “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” and singled out his “vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.”

In his acceptance speech, Obama noted that it was unusual that he was receiving the prize at the beginning of his presidential term.

“Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize — Schweitzer and King, Marshall and Mandela — my accomplishments are slight,” Obama said.

But Obama also noted that “throughout history, the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement. It’s also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes, and that’s why I will accept this award as a call to action — a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st century.”

THAT LAST IS WHY YOU WON'T BE GETTING IT, TURKEY. YOU ARE RETROGRADE ON CLIMATE CHANGE, ON NUCLEAR NON PROLIFERATION, ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE, ON THE ISRAELI PALESTIANINA SITUATION, ON WOMEN'S ISSUES, ON IMMIGRANTION, ON... ON... ON...

Trump Admits Everything

David Graham: “More details remain to be uncovered… Yet the basic story is now out in the open, with Trump’s assistance, even as Democrats continue their probe into the complaint. Usually the drama of an investigation lies in finding out what happened, but the drama of this investigation lies in finding out what happens next. There’s hardly a need to ask what the president knew and when he knew it; Trump has told everyone. The question is what Democrats intend to do about it.”

“In theory, Trump’s admission ought to place him in a tight bind. The president makes it hard to defend himself when he’s already said he did it. (The administration’s response has been to claim misconduct by the Biden family, but there’s still NO EVIDENCE to back that up, never mind the BLATANT HYPOCRISY of the accusation.) But Trump has seen that Republicans, both voters and crucially elected officials, have shown that practically no abuse is too much to bear.”

Biden-In-Ukraine ‘Scandal’ Goes Mainstream But NOT TRUE

The Intercept: “Viral rumors that Joe Biden abused his power as vice president to protect his son’s business interests in Ukraine in 2016, which spread last week from the pro-Trump media ecosystem to the New York Times, are ‘absolute nonsense,’ according to Ukraine’s leading anti-corruption activist.”

“That evaluation is backed by foreign correspondents in Kiev and a former official with knowledge of Biden’s outreach to Ukraine after President Viktor Yanukovych was deposed in a popular uprising in 2014.”

Even Fox News is not getting snowballed.

Fox News host Shep Smith on Monday dispelled the deflection President Donald Trump uses whenever he gets confronted about his controversial call with the Ukrainian president, during which Trump reportedly pressured the president to investigate 2020 rival Joe Biden.

“There is no known evidence that Biden did anything wrong,” Smith said following a clip of Trump parroting his baseless claim that Biden had engaged in corrupt behavior in Ukraine.

The Fox host pointed out that the Ukrainian prosecutor at the heart of Trump’s conspiracy theory–that Biden had pushed for the prosecutor’s ouster for investigating a company with ties to Biden’s son–was widely considered corrupt, which led to his ouster.

ADVERTISING

“The real issue here is the phone call,” Smith said. “The claim that the President pressured a foreign leader to investigate a political rival and the failure to pass the whistleblower complaint to Congress.”

C.H. Truth said...

Nobody believes that Shepard Smith is anything but a Trump hater. Has been since day one and continues to be one.

How many times do we have to go through this crap? You believe "this" is finally the "big thing" that will bring him down... only to have the entire thing fall apart in front of your eyes?

What was the last one? Do you even remember what it was two months ago that was the last straw? The one before that? Can you even remember how many different times we have been through this nonsense?

At the end of the day, Roger.

You have a foreign country (Ukraine) claiming bad behavior on the part of the previous administration.

And you want to declare that the current President is breaking the law because he engaged in conversations about it?

You can change words all you want...
"investigation" becomes "digging up dirt"
"conversation" becomes "coercion"

But at the end of the day it doesn't change the fact that a conversation about an investigation is just that. Trying to claim it's election meddling just makes you (and everyone else) look stupid and desperate.

Man... you must "really" be afraid that Trump is going to win again!

Media Corruption On Perfect Display In One Washington Post Paragraph
...
In fact, the main problem during the Trump administration has been the way the self-annointed “Resistance” in the media, unelected bureaucracy, and political institutions have treated Trump as if he were below the law. Traditionally, hard-fought losses are usually followed by an acceptance of the reality of election results, even if grudgingly.

In the case of Donald Trump, his campaign was spied on prior to the election by the intelligence services and government apparatus controlled by the opposing party. They used wiretaps, national security letters, human informants, and other surveillance. His transition was undermined by leaks suggesting that the FBI took seriously an uncorroborated and ludicrous collection of tall tales, “research” later determined to have been secretly funded by Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee.

President Trump has yet to be treated as the legitimate winner of the free and fair election he won in 2016. Some 70 Democrats refused to go to his inauguration in protest. The weaponized opposition material from Trump’s political enemies was used to get his national security advisor terminated, his attorney general sidelined from any oversight of his agency, to scare foreign leaders from effectively engaging in foreign policy discussions, to keep good people from serving in his administration, and to ruin the lives of anyone who worked with Trump to secure his victory.

Elites in the media, government, and political institutions have discussed ousting him through the 25th amendment, impeachment, manipulation of the economy, and other extreme measures. Fired FBI director James Comey was found to have violated Trump’s civil liberties when he violated FBI policies governing investigations. Rucker, Costa, and Bade, it might be noted, provide no evidence in support of their regurgitation of the Resistance talking point that Trump views himself as above the law.

The President Needs To Be Impeached

By Josh Marshall. A blogger who has not lost his mind.

It’s long been clear that if the President is driven from office it will only be by the voters in November 2020. Trump has overseen and catalyzed a decisive pivot by the GOP toward authoritarian rule and illiberal politics. Trump will always have 30-something Republican senators who will maintain him in office no matter what crimes he commits or how he violates his oath of office. But we’ve now reached an impasse, a critical juncture at which the House of Representatives, controlled by a party that still supports the rule of law, has no choice but to dramatically intensify its oversight efforts up to and including voting on articles of impeachment against the President. The very premise of democratic government and the rule of law is under active attack by a lawless President.

President Trump came to power through corrupt means. He has systematically violated his oath of office since becoming President. He is now actively plotting to subvert the 2020 election using his powers as commander-in-chief of the armed forces and head of state to coerce a desperate ally to intervene in the 2020 election on his behalf. Such an abuse of power is so total and so grave that any equivocation in branding it criminal and unacceptable in the American system simply cannot be justified. It is all the more so since it is not retrospective. Nor does it turn on mere pecuniary corruption. It is a conspiracy to subvert the American people’s one chance to end his tenure in office. In other words, it is an attack on the one failsafe in the constitutional system: facing voters in a free and fair election.

Critics of the House Democratic leadership have greatly underestimated the limitations on congressional power with an executive who simply rejects the entire concept of legitimate congressional oversight. Congress has no army or police. It relies largely on the constitution and the courts to compel some degree of good faith engagement and respect for the constitution. A flat no to any and all oversight simply means years of process in the courts and thus presidential impunity. We still don’t know the totality of what happened. Based on what we know the only proper response is to demand the President’s immediate resignation. Since he certainly won’t agree, an immediate investigation framed around the question of impeachment must be undertaken and if the facts are what they appear the President must be impeached.

Will he be removed from office in the Senate? Almost certainly not. It’s not at all clear to me that the Senate will even allow a trial. Perhaps that is a feature of this historical moment rather than a bug since President Trump should also be driven from office by the American voter. But this kind of brazen abuse of power merits the gravest form of constitutional sanction. And that is impeachment.

Bernie Sanders Unveils New Plan To Levy Special Tax On Anyone Who Makes More Money Than Bernie Sanders

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Bernie Sanders has unveiled his new wealth tax plan, a sweeping proposal that will heavily tax people who make too much money.

The cut-off line for determining who is a good, successful citizen and who is a greedy leech destroying society will be however much money Bernie Sanders makes.

"We want people to be able to chase the American Dream, but not too much," Sanders said. "A good amount---like three houses? Great. Four houses? Evil! Millions? That's alright with me. Billions? Die, capitalist scum!"

Sanders pointed out that when people make more money than he does, it makes him feel bad. But when he starts to make a lot of money, it feels good to him. So his wealth tax plan will adjust with how much money Sanders makes. Should he start making billions, then the tax plan will really start to hammer the trillionaires and ease up on the billionaires a bit. Once he's a trillionaire, which should be pretty quick what with socialism's inflation and all, then the quadrillionaires will be in Sanders's sights.

"The important thing is that those who work hard and invest their capital are rewarded right up until they pass me by," Sanders said. "I get so mad when I see someone with four houses! Who needs that many homes!?"

Heh
