A new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll finds President Trump trailing all of the leading Democratic presidential candidates.

Joe Biden leads Trump 50% to 38%,
Elizabeth Warren is ahead 51% to 40% and
Bernie Sanders leads 49% to 41%.
Home state favorite
Amy Klobuchar crushes Trump 55% to 38%.

The same Democrats who have spent decades covering for the Clintons while they sold out America, want you to believe the guy who was already a beloved billionaire celebrity living the dream--gave it all up to work with Vladimir Putin.

Everything that Democrats are doing right now, EVERYTHING, is to protect Barack Hussein Obama.

Trump Grows Increasingly Frustrated with Mulvaney
October 21, 2019 at 10:57 am EDT

A source familiar with President Trump’s thinking told CNN that “after watching media coverage this weekend about Mick Mulvaney’s Thursday news conference and performance attempting to clean it up, the President has grown increasingly frustrated with his acting chief of staff’s ability to properly communicate the White House’s impeachment strategy.

“Trump has voraciously consumed news coverage about Mulvaney and has become more agitated… Specifically, the President is concerned, according to the source, that Mulvaney is not transitioning enough to the role he is in now — helping to lead the impeachment inquiry defense from the West Wing.”

WASHINGTON, Oct 21 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that being president has cost him between $2 billion and $5 billion that he would have made if he had continued running his business instead of getting into politics.

But, he told reporters, "If I had it to go it again I would do it in an instant, because who cares, if you can afford it, what difference does it make?"

Trump expressed annoyance at having to reverse his decision to stage the Group of Seven summit in June at his Trump National Doral golf resort in the Miami area.

His plan to have the event at Doral drew sharp criticism from both Republicans and Democrats who said it gave the impression that he was profiting from being president.

Trump dismissed what he called "this phony emoluments clause," a line in the U.S. Constitution that prevents the president and lawmakers from profiting from their offices. Critics frequently accuse Trump of violating the emoluments clause.

In December, a federal appeals court in Virginia will hear an emoluments case brought by the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia that alleges Trump has profited from the presidency with the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Trump's claim on Monday that the presidency has cost him anywhere from $2 billion to $5 billion is impossible to verify because he has not followed the modern presidential tradition of releasing his tax returns.

For example Jame Wilkerson violated the emoluments clause because he receiver a pension from the Spanish government while commanding the army of the United States.

George Washington didn't violate the emoluments clause because as president he sold tobacco the West Indies Company. A company charted by the King of England.

One was a direct payment for services rendered. The other was income in the normal course of business.

Your only rebuttal is to restate the clause or restate the definition of emoluments without any understanding because quite frankly you are too stupid and ignorant to argue the point.

“Sure. I mean ... show me something that ... is a crime,” said Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) to Axios on HBO in an interview on Tuesday. “If you could show me that, you know, Trump actually was engaging in a quid pro quo, outside the phone call, that would be very disturbing.”

AD
That interview came two days before Trump’s acting chief of staff acknowledged publicly there was an explicit deal with Ukraine; the White House held up bipartisan military aid to try to force a Ukrainian investigation into whether Russia really interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump. When Axios reached back out to Graham’s office to get a response, a spokesman said the senator still hadn’t seen anything that was impeachable.

But there’s a distinction between thinking the president should be impeached today and supporting an impeachment inquiry that looks further into what we know about the Trump administration’s work in Ukraine to benefit Trump politically. The most dramatic reading of Graham’s comments is that he thinks the matter should be investigated, which is exactly what House Democrats are doing in their impeachment inquiry. At the very least, Graham, in declining to defend Trump, is giving the White House a public warning not to dig its hole any deeper.

The past week in impeachment, in 5 minutes

Graham’s comments could signal an inflection point in this impeachment debate. He has in the past twisted and omitted facts to protect Trump, and he’s warning that at some point, he won’t anymore.

AD

Graham isn’t the only Republican lawmaker to provide some public evidence of cracks on impeachment. On Friday, Rep. Francis Rooney (Fla.) hinted he would be open to impeachment, saying he wanted “to get the facts and do the right thing because I’ll be looking at my children a lot longer than I’m looking to anybody in this building.” A day later, Rooney announced he wouldn’t be running for reelection. That’s a personal decision, but we know from other Republicans’ decisions to retire that exasperation with defending Trump has fueled their motivation to leave Washington.

And never before have Republicans in Washington been stretched so thin in defending Trump. Amid the impeachment inquiry, he made a major foreign policy move he had to know they would detest: He started pulling U.S. troops out of Syria in a move Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) warned was “a grave mistake.” Nearly 130 House Republicans voted for a resolution criticizing the move. (In contrast, only six House Republicans are calling for some sort of an investigation into Ukraine and Trump, so far.)

The Stonewall is crashing down.

IF IT GETS BAD ENOUGH (AND IT'S HEADED IN THAT DIRECTION)
Why It’s Possible Trump Could Be Removed from Office
October 21, 2019 at 5:56 pm EDT

Jonathan Chait:
“The Syria debacle is genuinely alarming to the party, because it shows Trump unleashing a strategic catastrophe, leading to thousands of escaped terrorists, through a simple phone call the implications of which he seems not to have understood. The up-front costs of ripping off the Band-Aid and removing Trump might seem less risky than allowing another year of a completely unconstrained toddler president.

“In Casino, the bosses accepted a lot of erratic and risky behavior from Nicky Santoro because he was ultimately a useful ally. They didn’t care that he was a violent criminal — they were violent criminals, too. But they eventually decided that his flamboyant and uncontrollable behavior put their whole racket at risk. And when their calculation of his value tipped from acceptable risk to unacceptable risk, the end came swiftly and unexpectedly.

“The Republican Establishment doesn’t have hit men, but it does have a constitutional process at its disposal that is being helpfully initiated by House Democrats. That its members would band together to cast out a president adored by their party’s base seemed until recently unthinkable. NOW IT IS NOT.”

Putin Helped Sour Trump on Ukraine
October 21, 2019 at 6:43 pm EDT

“President Trump’s effort to pressure Ukraine for information he could use against political rivals came as he was being urged to adopt a hostile view of that country by its regional adversaries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin,” the Washington Post reports.

“Trump’s conversations with Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and others reinforced his perception of Ukraine as a hopelessly corrupt country — one that Trump now also appears to believe sought to undermine him in the 2016 U.S. election.”

Trump Handed ISIS Its Biggest Victory In Years
October 21, 2019 at 6:46 pm EDT

New York Times:
“When President Trump announced this month that he would pull American troops out of northern Syria and make way for a Turkish attack on the Kurds, Washington’s onetime allies, many warned that he was removing the spearhead of the campaign to defeat the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

“Now, analysts say that Mr. Trump’s pullout has handed the Islamic State its biggest win in more than four years and greatly improved its prospects. With American forces rushing for the exits, in fact, American officials said last week that they were already losing their ability to collect critical intelligence about the group’s operations on the ground.”

Trump Viewed Ukraine as Adversary, Not Ally
October 21, 2019 at 8:48 pm EDT

Associated Press: “The president sees the Eastern European ally, not Russia, as responsible for the interference in the 2016 election that was investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller.”

“It’s a view

*AT ODDS WITH U.S. FOREIGN POLICY, AND
*DISMISSED BY MANY OF TRUMP'S FELLOW REPUBLICANS.

But Trump’s belief suggests the extent to which his approach to Ukraine — including his request, now central to impeachment, that the Ukraine president do him a ‘favor’ and investigate Democrats — was colored by a long-running, UNPROVEN conspiracy theory that has circulated online and in some corners of conservative media.”

Giuliani could be in big trouble.

Justice Department Distances Itself From Giuliani
Katie Benner
The New York TimesOctober 21, 2019, 5:05 AM PDT
The Justice Department distanced itself Sunday from Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, declaring that department officials would not have met with Giuliani to discuss one of his clients had they known that federal prosecutors in New York were investigating two of his associates.

Several weeks ago, Brian A. Benczkowski, the head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, and lawyers from the division’s Fraud Section met with Giuliani to discuss a bribery case in which he and other attorneys were representing the defendants.

That meeting took place before the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan publicly charged the two Giuliani associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, with breaking campaign finance laws and trying to unlawfully influence politicians, including former Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas. Parnas and Fruman were part of Giuliani’s effort to push Ukraine for an inquiry into Democrats.

SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENTAd
Be Safe Out There
“When Mr. Benczkowski and fraud section lawyers met with Mr. Giuliani, they were not aware of any investigation of Mr. Giuliani’s associates in the Southern District of New York and would not have met with him had they known,” said Peter Carr, a department spokesman.

The Justice Department’s public statement Sunday illustrates the unusual and broad set of roles that the president’s personal lawyer has played in the scandal that has engulfed the White House and imperiled Trump’s presidency.

Even as Giuliani ran a shadow foreign policy campaign to pressure Ukraine to investigate the president’s political enemies — which is now at the heart of an impeachment inquiry against Trump — he and his business associates were under criminal investigation for unlawfully wielding political influence. And while all of this was happening, Giuliani still served as a lawyer to clients with cases to plead before the Justice Department.

In distancing itself from Giuliani and trying to draw bright lines around how the Justice Department will and will not engage with him, the department has also undercut the perception that Giuliani can influence some of Washington’s most important lawyers and decision-makers. That could make it harder for Giuliani to represent clients who are under Justice Department scrutiny in the future.

“This is an incredibly unusual statement from the Justice Department, which does not comment on ongoing investigations or even acknowledge them, and it’s the kind of statement that would give clients pause about who is representing them,” said Joyce Vance, a former federal prosecutor.

Giuliani did not respond to a request for comment.

Trump's historic lead on 2020 fundraising is starting to rattle Democrats

Democrats are beginning to worry about President Trump's 2020 war chest, which is larger than any other sitting president in history at this point in the campaign.

Some strategists believe the eventual Democratic nominee will not be able to compete against the Trump campaign's and Republican National Committee’s joint fundraising, which combined have $158 million on hand, according to Politico.

Trump's reelection effort has raised about twice as much as former President Barack Obama's reelection campaign had at this point in the race.

"The resources [Trump] has will be put to work anywhere and everywhere that he feels like he can scare up electoral votes, and Democrats will never catch up. It’s just too much money," Texas-based Democratic strategist Chris Lippincott said. "That's real trouble … I'm not here to curse the dark, but it's dark."

The Trump campaign effort is currently outspending the lone Democratic PAC messaging against him by a 10-to-1 margin. Trump's 2020 coalition has spent roughly $23 million so far on advertising.

Fortunately for the Democrats they can rely on in-kind contribution free media from CNN, the New York Times, Washington Post, etc.

But there's a saying in politics that money = viability and this is the chief reason no one is quite believing those polls that say Trump is weak.

Facebook continues to ramp up its efforts to protect elections in America and abroad from foreign meddling on social media.
Facebook on Monday announced it had removed four separate networks of interconnected accounts, groups and pages engaged in "coordinated inauthentic behavior" across Facebook and Instagram. This included nearly 200 accounts with more than 250,000 followers around the world.
These account networks intentionally spread divisive content aimed at the United States, Latin America, and parts of North Africa. Facebook said three of the networks originated in Iran, while the other was based in Russia.
While Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company has updated its security approach to be ready for election interference, organized efforts to influence voters are a constant issue.
