Biden Ukraine Investigation should help Biden?

To be clear, there are serious questions to be answered and the majority of Americans support this probe. If Biden really wants to be President, then he should welcome the opportunity to have his (and his son's) name cleared.

All Graham and the Senate is looking to do is to take a look at a series of phone calls that took place between Biden and some Ukrainian officials. If, as Biden insists, there was never any mention of Burisma, anything that might be seen as pressure to back of any sort of investigations, or other meddling in Ukrainian business, then Biden will be clear as a bell.

Certainly we have learned that falsely accusing someone of something can backfire, both in the polling and in fundraising. Given Biden is stagnant on both fronts, he should be welcoming the false allegations and subsequent humiliation of Graham and the GOP for making the outlandish claims.

Unless Biden actually thinks they might find something incriminating, he should be telling the public he has nothing to hide and that he wants his name cleared. One has to wonder why he is pushing back so hard?

he's pushing back so hard because the allegations are true.

recall recently how the left including the usual suspects around here insisted that trump should testify at the impeachment hearings "since he has nothing to hide."

let's see just how much hypocrisy will be on display now that subpoenas for the biden's are imminent.

Navy Will Proceed with Disciplinary Plans
November 24, 2019 at 12:06 pm EST

New York Times: “The secretary of the Navy and the admiral who leads the SEALs have threatened to resign or be fired if plans to expel a commando from the elite unit in a war crimes case are halted by President Trump, administration officials said Saturday.

““The high-level pushback to Mr. Trump’s unambiguous assertion on Twitter this past week that the commando, Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher, should remain in the unit was an extraordinary development in what was already an extraordinary case, one with few precedents in the history of presidential relations with the American military.

“The Navy secretary, Richard V. Spencer, later denied that he had threatened to resign but said disciplinary plans against Chief Gallagher would proceed because he did not consider Mr. Trump’s statement on Twitter to be a formal order. Mr. Spencer added that the president, as commander in chief, had the authority to intervene and that it would stop ‘the process.’”

BUT TRUMP KNOWS MORE THAN HIS GENERALS, ALL THE MILITERY, AND EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE WORLD.

Bloomberg Is Officially Running for President
November 24, 2019 at 12:09 pm EST

Michael Bloomberg announced his presidential bid with a video.

New York Times: “At 77, Mr. Bloomberg is one of the oldest candidates in the race, and like Mr. Biden and Mr. Sanders he would become the oldest person ever to assume the presidency if elected. Mr. Bloomberg is also, with Mr. Sanders, one of two major candidates for the nomination who are Jewish, and either would be the first Jewish president if elected.

“Should Mr. Bloomberg become the Democratic nominee, it would set up a general election between two party-switching moguls from New York City, though Mr. Bloomberg’s fortune is larger than Mr. Trump’s many times over.”

Split Decision from Congress Will Leave Decision to Voters

New York Times:
“Every one is playing their assigned role in a drama where the ending seems known in advance as the House of Representatives heads toward a likely party-line vote to impeach the president, followed by a Senate trial that will not convict him.

“But if the outcome of the showdown on Capitol Hill at the moment appears foreordained, the ultimate verdict still is not. Unlike Presidents Richard M. Nixon or Bill Clinton, Mr. Trump faces an election after his impeachment battle, meaning that the voters will serve as the court of appeals rendering their own final judgment on whether he has committed high crimes and misdemeanors.”

U.S. Firms Pull Back on Investment

Wall Street Journal:
“Many of the biggest U.S. companies are moderating their spending on equipment and other capital investment, as an uncertain business environment prompts some to postpone or shelve otherwise promising projects. That could pose a continuing drag on economic growth.

“The pullback began as trade tensions escalated last fall, leaving companies unsure about their supply chains, pricing and profits. It has continued amid signs of slowing global growth and increasing consumer concerns about the future.

Witnesses Could Be COMPELLED In Senate Trial
November 24, 2019 at 1:06 pm EST

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff left the door open to the possibility of more hearings or depositions in the impeachment inquiry but said that Democrats will not “wait months and months while the administration plays a game of rope-a-dope in an effort to try to stall,” CNN reports.

In fact, he said it’s possible reluctant witnesses could be COMPELLED to testify at a Senate trial.

Said Schiff: “Well, I think there’s certainly merit to the idea that we may get a quicker ruling from a chief justice in a Senate trial, if it ever came to that, than we would get by going months and months on end litigating the matter.”

THE SENATE TRIAL IS SOUNDING BETTER AND BETTER.

Yes, including the witnesses Schiff was hiding and Schiff as well as his staff.

It will be interesting to see if Schiff has abused his powers for political purposes.

We certainly have seen the whistleblower law abused to launch cowardly political sniping from behind a rock.

IF the whistleblower WERE compelled to testify, it would be SO embarrassing to the GOP propaganda line. He/she never claimed to have heard anything but second hand information, which, however has now been repeatedly and elaborately corroborated by known witnesses

WaPo Reporter Explains Why Dems Have 'Cold Feet' Over Impeachment

Poll after poll has shown that Americans are increasingly opposed to the Democrats' partisan impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) has repeatedly beaten the impeachment drum, saying the American people do want to "get to the bottom" of what took place in Trump's call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

But you know the impeachment inquiries aren't going very well when Washington Post Congressional Reporter Rachael Bade is admitting Democrats are having cold feet pursuing this agenda.

“I think what we're starting to see, you know, is when the impeachment inquiry was first announced and [Democrats] started to do these depositions, a lot of people were asking, 'Can Nancy Pelosi peel off any Republicans?'" Bade asked "But I increasingly think the question is becoming does [Nancy Pelosi] lose more Democrats? Because Republicans have really unified behind the president, and although two Democrats voted against the impeachment inquiry rules that they voted on a couple of weeks ago, we are hearing behind-the-scenes there are moderates getting cold feet. And it comes back to these ads and people being afraid for being punished for voting to impeach the president.”

Democrats are "getting cold feet" because this is no longer about an impeachment inquiry. This is about whether or not to draft articles of impeachment, which would then move to the Senate (assuming the vote passed the House). This impeachment vote puts Democrats from red and purple areas between a rock and a hard place.

The smart move for the Democrats would be censure. This get's it over with and it would not go to the senate where they can't control events.

But that is exactly what they won't do because the stupid-leftest wing of the party won't accept anything less than impeachment.

The questions would be who did you hear it from? (which could lead to perjury as well as mishandling classified information charges) Who in Congress (principles or staff) did you talk to before you made the complaint?

What were the substance of those conversations?

Did you view it as an opportunity to hurt the president politically?

I don't think it's the GOP who will be embarrassed.

THE HILL
Impeachment will make some Senate Republicans squirm
There is speculation whether impeachment will hurt some House Democrats from marginal districts; no doubt, a few will squirm.

If, as seems likely, the House votes to impeach Donald Trump, and it goes to the Senate for a trial, a handful of Republicans there — who may hold the balance in next year's elections — may squirm EVEN MORE.

The Beltway insiders don’t seem to grasp the paradigm here that the more the public learns about Ukraine the more they agree with Trump

The MSM has covered for dems so long they forgot the FAKE NEWS reporting was a SHAM and they thought people would blindly take their headlines and the CHARADE. Many people now got to see first hand how bad dem actors are and how reasonable the republicans were.

This has been a GOLDMINE for Trump and the Republicans, a disaster for the dems.

Thanks Schiff-face

The Republican asshole is trying to use slander as a way to overturn the first amendment rights.

Scott A**hole believes it's great for using slander Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) is threatening to take CNN and The Daily Beast to court after the outlets published a story saying a former Rudy Giuliani associate was willing to tell Congress that Nunes met with an ousted Ukrainian prosecutor.

The ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News that he plans to take both news organizations to federal court "right after Thanksgiving" and that he hopes they will cooperate.

He criticized the outlets' "fake news" reports that said an attorney for indicted Giuliani associate Lev Parnas said Parnas had knowledge about a meeting between Nunes and ousted Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin last year. The representative slammed the media for using "indicted criminals" as sources.

"It is not OK to work with someone who has been indicted on serious federal crimes to build a media narrative and dirty up a member of Congress," Nunes said.

Who besides Susan Collins would possible be in trouble if they vote to aquit?

And II don't think she would be marginally more in trouble if she already did.

The people who hate Trump would never vote for her in the first place and as the polls are now showing, independents think impeachment is more important to Washington politicians and the media than it is to them. There are lot of independents in main.

I think she'll be re-elected.

Can you really name one vulnerable GOP Senator? Or did you just aped an opinion column without thinking?

DEVIN NUNES SPENT $57,000 ON FLIGHTS TO EUROPE TO ALLEGEDLY INVESTIGATE BIDENS AS ETHICS COMPLAINT FILED OVER 'ABUSE' OF OFFICE

Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking Republican member on the House Intelligence Committee, spent nearly $57,000 on a trip to Europe for him and his staff to allegedly investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, records show.

The figures seem to confirm allegations made by Lev Parnas—a Ukrainian-born American who worked as a "fixer" for Rudy Giuliani before being indicted on criminal charges—who said that he helped Nunes arrange meetings with various Ukrainian officials to dig up dirt on Biden.

Nunes Threatens to Sue the free press

Parnas said he met Nunes in a secretive trip to Vienna, Austria, between November and December 2018, and put him in touch with former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin—the lawyer who was ousted from his position in 2016 after pressure from Western leaders, including Biden, who said he was not doing enough to combat corruption.

Reports filed with the Office of the Clerk for the House of Representatives show that Nunes claimed expenses for a four-day trip to Europe at the time in question between November 30 and December 3. Four entries for "commercial airfare" were claimed for Scott Glabe, George Pappas, Derek Harvey and Nunes himself.

Just want to point out that Devin Nunes spent nearly $57,000 of taxpayer money for the flight(s) he took with his 3 aides to allegedly dig for dirt on the Bidens.

Nunes seemed to deny Parnas' allegations in an interview with Breitbart on Friday, although he did not mention Parnas or a trip to Europe in his comments directly. He did however threaten to sue media publications who published "these demonstrably false and scandalous stories."

If the allegations are correct, they could have deeply embarrassing and damaging repercussions as the committee Nunes sits on is the one investigating President Donald Trump in the Democrats' current push for impeachment.

Rep. Devin Nunes
Devin Nunes (R-CA) during aHouse Intelligence Committee hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into US President Donald Trump on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on November 20, 2019.

They accuse Trump and his associates of allegedly attempting to enlist a foreign government to dig up dirt on a domestic political opponent, while Congressionally approved aid was withheld until the request was met—in essence, bribery.

Nunes, who has been one of Trump's most strident defenders on the committee, repeatedly labelling the impeachment inquiry a "circus," should have recused himself from the proceedings if the allegations are true.

It has since been confirmed by the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Adam Smith, that Nunes will likely face an ethics investigation into the claims.

It follows a letter that was sent by the Democratic Coalition to the House Ethics Committee that raised the conflict of interest and called for an investigation.

Scott Dworkin

@funder
BREAKING: Here's the text of The Democratic Coalition's House Ethics complaint against Rep. Devin Nunes for

"Rep. Nunes allegedly met foreign officials on an overseas Congressional delegation using taxpayer funds.

"Rep. Nunes is currently engaged in overseeing an investigation which it appears he is a fact witness, and which may examine his own activities meeting with foreign officials.

"Rep. Nunes is aware of the actual conflict of interest from his relationships to persons under investigation by the House Intelligence Committee for the purposes of an impeachment inquiry upon which it must issue a report, but failed to either disclose his conflict of interest with the investigation or that he has firsthand knowledge of the persons of interest to the committee.

"This is a complaint against Rep. Nunes for abuse of his official office in violation of House rule XXIII."

Newsweek has contacted Nunes' office for comment.
