Jobs report "unexpectedly" good!

U.S. Hiring Resilient With 128,000 Gain Amid Strike, Census
U.S. hiring was unexpectedly resilient in October and prior months saw sharp upward revisions, validating the Federal Reserve’s signal of a pause from interest-rate cuts and indicating consumers will extend the record-long expansion despite weak business investment and trade tensions.
Payrolls rose 128,000 after an upwardly revised 180,000 advance the prior month, according to a Labor Department report Friday that exceeded the median 85,000 estimate in Bloomberg’s survey. That includes a General Motors Co. strike-driven 41,600 decline in automaker payrolls and 20,000 temporary census workers leaving their jobs.

So bottom line here is that n spite of over 60,000 known layoffs (some temporary and some expected) we still had 128,000 new jobs. This was approximately 1.5 times what was expected. The fact that the previous months job totals were upwardly revised is another bonus. Of course those revisions are always suspiciously good when a Republican is in the White House, and quietly poor while a Democrat is holding office. While the original report makes headlines, the revisions seldom do.

The jobless rate edged up to 3.6% from a half-century low, as black unemployment fell to a new record low of 5.4% Average hourly earnings climbed 3% from a year earlier, matching projections after an upward revision the prior month, though the 0.2% monthly gain was slightly below estimates.

So the unemployment rate is still at 3.6% (which is basically full employment). The fact that Black unemployment is at 5.4% is a spectacular number, but one that liberals will discount and demand that Blacks continue to vote against their own best financial interests. Not sure what liberals will do here, other than continue to act like the economy is good "in spite of" rather than "because of" the President and his policies.

Black unemployment down to 5.4%, lowest in history.

That translates into a lot of votes.

If the democrats ever prove they can walk and chew gum and pass the USMCA things will only improve.

but they probably won't and can't.

they are feeding the TDS crisis which is now even bigger than the opioid crisis.

at least that has an expiration date after which it will be totally ineffective.

IMPEACHMENT EXPECTEDLY LIKELY

Proof of Trump’s Impeachable Offenses Plain to See
November 1, 2019 at 9:50 am EDT

JUDGE ANDREW NAPOLITANO:
“The proof is largely undisputed, except by the president himself. It consists of admissions, testimony and documents, which show that Trump sought to induce the government of Ukraine to become involved in the 2020 presidential election.

“Specifically, Trump held up $391 million in American military hardware and financial aid to Ukraine – which is at war with Russia after the Russian seizure and continual occupation of what was until 2014 a Ukrainian province – until Ukrainian prosecutors commenced a criminal investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

“That is a mouthful of facts to swallow in one bite, but the legal implications are straightforward and profound. Whether one agrees with federal law or not, it is a crime to solicit assistance for a federal campaign from a foreign government. As well, the crime of bribery consists of a government official refraining from performing a legal duty until a thing of value is delivered to him.”

Republicans Bludgeoned with the Truth
November 1, 2019 at 9:42 am EDT

David Brooks:
“The evidence against Trump is overwhelming. This Ukraine quid pro quo wasn’t just a single reckless phone call. It was a multiprong several-month campaign to use the levers of American power to destroy a political rival.

“Republican legislators are being bludgeoned with this truth in testimony after testimony. They know in their hearts that Trump is guilty of impeachable offenses. It’s evident in the way they stare glumly at their desks during hearings; the way they flee reporters seeking comment; the way they slag the White House off the record. It’ll be hard for them to vote to acquit if they can’t even come up with a non-ludicrous rationale.

“And yet when you get outside Washington it’s hard to imagine more than one or two GOP senators voting to convict.”

Rep. Don Young (R-AK) headbutted a camera when activists asked him if it was acceptable to ask foreign governments to interfere in our elections.

Impeachment Inquiry Focuses on Two Lawyers
November 1, 2019 at 8:13 am EDT

“The House impeachment inquiry is zeroing in on two White House lawyers privy to a discussion about moving a memo recounting President Trump’s phone call with the leader of Ukraine into a highly restricted computer system normally reserved for documents about covert action,” the AP reports.

“Deepening their reach into the West Wing, impeachment investigators have summoned former national security adviser John Bolton to testify next week. But they also are seeking testimony of two other political appointees — John Eisenberg, the lead lawyer for the National Security Council, and Michael Ellis, a senior associate counsel to the president.”

Probably not..

But it's perfectly acceptable for a President to ask for assistance in an investigation over 2016 election interference, or possible U.S. Government corruption.

The only way either of these investigations "harms" Democrats or interferes in our elections is if the Democrats are actually guilty of something.

So James...

Are you admitting that Democrats are probably guilty of something that (if uncovered) will harm their election chances?

Is that your lamebrained argument?

Either way...

The continuous good news about the economy is going to be a drain on the Democrats trying to move forward with their dead end impeachment charade.

People love working and love making money!

They really don't care about Ukraine all that much or whether or not a company associated with Hunter Biden gets investigated. I am sure if it turns out that there was a problem, some Ukrainian corruption that allowed Burisma to buy favor... and that our previous Vice President played a part.. then Americans would be interested (only to the degree that it would deflate Biden's chances).

But if Biden cannot handle a single investigation, then what business does he have going up against someone who at any given moment has like a half dozen different investigations tied to him?

He should just retire to the old folks home and not bother.

The fact that the economy is doing well, is not going to be the major reason to vote for Trump, if we don't indict and convict him."

RE Ch unTruth's 9:30AM post----

So, Ch, are you claiming that the Trump defenders' redacted transcript (elipses, elipses, omissions, omissions) shows that his call was actually more concerned with 2016 than with 2020?

Is that your lamebrained argument?
