There have been slander and libel laws since the United States was established. Apparently like everything else, you want to abolish these things when they are politically motivated.
The media either were horribly negligent or were spreading flat out lies about a 16 year old child. Why? Because he was wearing a MAGA hat. That is against the law. There is no "freedom of speech protection to spread negative lies about someone".
This kid was not a politician or public figure. The onus is on the people writing the story (not the child) to prove what they stated was either factual or there was good reason to believe it was factual. It was neither factual and there was no good reason (if you watched the tapes) to believe it was factual.
You want to really protect "free speech" rather that push your nonsense... then protect people (especially children) when they decide to wear a hat or shirt that expresses a political view. He should be able to wear a hat to a class trip without being mocked, lied about, and turned into a villain by the MSM.
The Republican Department of justice, will conclude that there was not part of a deep state conspiracy to destroy Donald Trump.
Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz did not find that the FBI officials in charge of the agency’s investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia were working to undermine President Donald Trump.
Unnamed officials told the New York Times and the Washington Post on Friday that while Horowitz’ report will criticize the errors he discovered in the early stages of the investigation, the inspector general will debunk Trump and his Republican allies’ accusation that the probe was borne and conducted out of anti-Trump bias.
The officials said Horowitz also found that the FBI did not open the investigation based on the infamous Christopher Steele dossier nor leaked information from the CIA, as Trump and other conservatives have also claimed.
