By far their worst day for the impeachment drive... But they will move forward anyways!

Democrats fell woefully short... again!

Meanwhile, Pelosi announces premature plans to move forward with impeachment!

  • You had one witness apology for bringing up Trump's son in her testimony (and it wasn't one of the grown up ones). Well she sort of apologized, but not really.
  • You had the same witness actually testify that she crosses the street to avoid walking in front of a Trump owned building (and she was supposed to be non-biased legal witness).
  • You had Democrat Al Green complain that none of the legal witnesses were black.
  • One of the Law Professors provided counselling and time off to his students to "grieve" the election of Trump (yes, another non-biased legal witness).
  • The only consensus in terms of the credibility of the witnesses was that Turley was the only adult in the room.

There was a part of me that thought that this could have been an affected strategy. But it would have required them to stay on subject and not wander off into any sort of anti-Trump tirades. The problem with finding "expert witnesses" is that it isn't so much what they say, but where their credibility stacks up. People are likely to tune out an "expert witness" if they feel that witness is manufacturing their testimony, are providing cookie cutter testimony, or otherwise show a bias regarding the main subject manner.

The fact that the Democrats couldn't come up with one (much less three) legal experts to support their position who were not rabid Trump haters is an indictment of their legal argument in general.

What IS effective is having someone who isn't a Trump support stand up and provide a well reasoned, well researched, and logically sound testament as to why this impeachment falls short of where it needed to be. Turley is no Trump fan, which makes him come across as providing honest legal testimony. Of course, much like Alan Dershowitz, Turley now finds himself at odds with the liberal powers to be.

What makes this fiasco more of a problem is the fact that the very next day the Speaker announces their plans to bring forward their articles of impeachment. This makes it crystal clear obvious that the entire hearing yesterday was a charade and that they never saw it as anything other than a step in the process.

So where are we at?

We are at a point in time where the Democrats will move forward with articles of impeachment without making any real attempt to prove their case. In fact, one of their articles will be the fact that they believe it's illegal for the President (well this President anyways) to go to court to challenge subpoenas. As Turley suggests. telling the President that it's a crime to challenge a congressional subpoena in court (which has been done by nearly every President in nearly every congressional investigation) is the real abuse of power.

This is turning out bad for Democrats.

President Donald Trump, seeking to clarify what he meant, said...

Finally I realized, when listening to the lawyers yesterday, what I really meant to say. You see, it's like this. When I said "us," I didn't mean me, or us, but U. S., the entire country. Yes, that's it! When I asked Zelensky to do "us" a favor, I meant I wanted him to help our entire country by investigating the man who looked like he might be my potentially most troubling candidate in the coming election. Yes, that's it! That's what I meant. Nothing wrong with that. (I don't understand why some of my own people were so upset and so insistent on trying to hide that phone call from the public. Why couldn't they see it was a perfect call, with nothing was wrong with it at all?)

Bullshit! says Pelosi, and then she said...

The facts are uncontested. The president abused his power for his own personal political benefit, at the expense of our national security.

His wrongdoing strikes at the very heart of our Constitution. Sadly, but with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our founders and a heart full of love for America, today I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment.

The Republicans' chosen lawyer called for a slow impeachment process, but Trump is calling for a fast one.

Swampy Trump, tired of being laughed at, said...

If you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair trial in the Senate, and so that our Country can get back to business. We will have Schiff, the Bidens, Pelosi and many more testify, and will reveal, for the first time, how corrupt our system really is. I was elected to ‘Clean the Swamp,’ and that’s what I am doing!

Oh goody. That's exactly what we want.

Senator Rand Paul
‏@RandPaul

By releasing the phone records of GOP members, @realDonaldTrump lawyers and journalists he doesn’t like, @AdamSchiff is doing exactly what he’s accusing the President of - using his power against his opponents for political purposes.

Alan Dershowitz
@AlanDersh

The Republicans should have challenged Professor Feldman’s assertion that “abuse of office" is a constitutional basis for impeachment. These words do not appear in the Constitution and such vague criteria were rejected by the Framers.

Wait until he hears about "Objection of Justice"

ROFLMFAO !!!

Pack your bags Mr Trump

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Thursday that the House is moving forward to draft articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

''Our democracy is what is at stake," Pelosi said. "The president leaves us no choice but to act."

Pelosi delivered the historic announcement as Democrats push toward a vote, possibly by Christmas.

She said she was authorizing the drafting of articles of impeachment "sadly but with confidence and humility."

"The president's actions have seriously violated the Constitution," Pelosi said.

We patriotic Americans have said...

...with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our founders and a heart full of love for America, we want to hear the following testify:

John Eisenberg

Michael Ellis

Robert Blair

Mick Mulvaney

Brian McCormack

Rick Perry

John Bolton

Donald Trump

and others

Boy Roger...

You still are too stupid to realize that for the President to "pack his bags" would mean that there are 67 votes in the Senate for this charade! There isn't 50 votes in the Senate and they may lose Democrats after that disaster yesterday!

Are you finally admitting today that you didn't actually watch the hearings yesterday?

Paraphrasing Nixon, Trump said...

They won't have me to laugh at anymore.

She just could have save everybody some time and issued a press release.
