Obviously, Congress did issue several Contempt of Congress citations (which is the correct constitutional manner to handle non-compliance). But what is legally and constitutionally clear here is that the Party that did not comply was the Party who was cited. Nobody attempted to impeach anyone not under subpoena or somehow hold the President accountable for obstruction (in spite of these decisions being made in conjunction with the President himself).
If this Congress acted like every other congress then they would have issued the subpoenas, then they would have issued the contempt of Congress citations. Eventually this could be litigated in court (as was the case with Nixon) and Democrats could have gotten closure on this one way or the other. The fact that they simply refuse to take the time to go through the steps is not just a laziness beyond all belief, it's an admission that this impeachment is not about anything specific that the President has done. It's entirely about impeachment first (find a crime second).
Ironically, this is sort of a case of what comes around goes around. Had Holder, Lerner, Rhodes and others not just "ignored" congressional subpoenas and congressional investigations in general, then the House today would have much stronger grounds to be upset today.

So subpoenas issued by the Senate can also be ignored?
Nancy Pelosi doesn't have executive privilege.
And neither does Adam Schiff.
...with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our founders and a heart full of love for America, we want to hear the following testify:
John Eisenberg
Michael Ellis
Robert Blair
Mick Mulvaney
Brian McCormack
Rick Perry
John Bolton
Donald Trump
and others
The President does not have executive privilege against impeachment.
Hey Lil Scotty.....I don't recall Obama being impeached for bribing a foreign country.....apples and organs again you dumb fuck....BTW...did Trey ever publish anything that mattered after his millions spent investigating these BS items??????? BWAAAAAAAAA11
And then there's Giuliani. He does not have executive privilege for what he is trying to do right now in the Ukraine.
founders and a heart full of love for America, we want to hear the following testify:
Which is exactly what Turley was advocating and making Jordan and Collins squirm!!!!!hr
Hunter and Joe Biden, the whistleblower the ICIG, James Comey, Peter Stozk etc.
And then there's Giuliani
He may very well be one of the defense attorneys as well as being bound by attorney/client privilege.
Hunter and Joe Biden, the whistleblower the ICIG, James Comey, Peter Stozk etc.
And the easter bunny, santa claus, P Diddy, and Lassie!!!!! These names have about as much relevance to trump and his perfect phone call as the individuals you cite!!!!! Dayum you are a dumb fuck!!!!!
For those of you thinking this was rushed:
Johnson removed Stanton as secretary on Feb. 21, 1868. By Feb. 24, 1868 — just three days later — the House passed a resolution impeaching Johnson. And by March 4, 1868, the House delivered articles of impeachment to the Senate.
Clinton, the House voted on Oct. 5, 1998 to launch an impeachment inquiry. By Dec. 19, 1998, the House impeached Clinton. That's 75 days.
Trump on Sept. 24. So far, it's been 71 days since that announcement, and the House has yet to draft or pass articles of impeachment. 71 DAYS!!!!

rrb's first faggot. Mayor Buttigieg scored a trio of endorsements from former Obama-world players on Thursday, a major boost for the South Bend mayor as he looks to draw parallels between his rising campaign and that of the former president.
Buttigieg secured the endorsement of Obama’s former longtime body man Reggie Love, a not-insignificant vote of confidence as Buttigieg also looks to dramatically improve his standing with black voters.
Love’s endorsement comes as the campaign looks to hit the reset button on his strategy to break through with black voters, beginning with smaller, more intimate events in states like South Carolina where the Democratic electorate is majority-black.
In a statement provided by the Buttigieg campaign, Love said that he saw the similarities between the mayor and Obama that Buttigieg has tried to play up as his candidacy has heated up.
“A lot of what is said about Pete echoes what critics said about presidential candidate Barack Obama – too young, too different, maybe another time – but I believe there is never a better time to fight for change than right now,” he said, adding that he believes “the younger generation needs to take a more active participation in the leadership and the direction of this country” at all levels of politics.
“Pete can galvanize a new electoral body that is a more accurate representation of what America actually is,” he contended.
The 37-year-old mayor has long painted his candidacy as a chance for much-needed generational change at a time when the party’s top three frontrunners over the last several months — and the current occupant of the White House — are all in their 70s.
Trump would have to tough time claiming that he doesn't have enough experience in contrast than him.
rrb would be calling him a queer f******t

Well Roger...
Clinton's impeachment was not based off from a congressional investigation. It was based off the Starr Report (which went on for quite some time). The impeachment hearings didn't take as long because they really didn't need to re-investigate what Starr had already determined. For all practical purposes you would look at how long Starr investigated the Obstruction/Perjury allegations regarding the Paula Jones case and then add it to the impeachment hearings to get the total time spent.
This Ukrainian situation has not been investigated by anyone other than the Congressional House Democrats. So the entire investigation is just weeks old).
You keep talking about how public opinion flipped on Nixon. The reason that it flipped was because the Courts arbitrated the dispute between Congress and the White House in terms of the subpoenas vs executive privilege.
Nixon resigned when he lost that, because he knew that he would be turning over real hard evidence of his own guilt.
You keep pointing to Nixon, but you do not apparently support the idea that the courts should litigate the subpoena? Why not? Why not have the courts order the key people to testify?
Are they afraid of hearing what they have to say?
or are they really just doing this because they fear losing the narrative if they have to wait for the courts (we do have that IG report coming and not everyone is as confident it's going to be good news for Democrats).

Pack your bags Mr Trump"
Alky is clinically Depressed and Suicidal for good reason .
NY Times:
"
Top-tier candidates, including former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, saw a dip in support over the past two weeks while several lower-tier candidates saw a slight uptick in their numbers, according to the latest Hill-HarrisX poll released on Wednesday.
The survey showed that 31 percent of likely Democratic primary voters back Biden, marking a 3 point drop from an identical poll conducted two weeks ago.
It also found a drop in support for Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), the only other two candidates in double figures in the poll.
Sanders's support dipped 4 points to 16 percent, while Warren's support dropped 2 points to 10 percent"
CH SAYS TO ROGER:
You keep pointing to Nixon, but you do not apparently support the idea that the courts should litigate the subpoena? Why not? Why not have the courts order the key people to testify?
Are they afraid of hearing what they have to say?
I SAY TO CH:
Why didn't Trump simply allow all of the people to testify that the Democrats asked for? Trump says he did nothing wrong. Is he afraid of our hearing what they have to say?
So we've got Pelosi snapping at reporters and Biden snapping at dem voters.
This is what we want to lead our country?? I think not.
Why didn't Trump simply allow all of the people to testify that the Democrats asked for? Trump says he did nothing wrong. Is he afraid of our hearing what they have to say
Well James... I don't recall you making the same arguments when Republicans were investigating the Iran $1.5 in cash deal, or the IRS Targeting situation, or the Fast and Furious scandal?
The President has every right to invoke privilege (and should continue to protect future Presidents by using it). It is actually more common than not that Congressional subpoenas end up being ignored or litigated.
Besides... the President had the political advantage of Democrats losing support for their impeachment effort. The longer this goes on the harder it is for Democrats to turn public opinion...
Unless, of course they "actually believe" that they can prove something by talking to more people.
The onus is not on the accused to offer a defense.
The responsibility in AMERICA is for the accuser to PROVE their case.
The Democrats haven't even alleged a real crime. Just demand that perfectly legal actions are criminal (because they don't like the Bad Orange Man). Their only law expert testimony came from Witnesses who refuse to walk in front of a Property (because it is owned by Trump) and provided their students with time off School to "mourn and grieve" the election of Trump. Those were not objective legal opinions, they were just part of the anti-Trump resistance.
So the reality here James...
Democrats have not moved their case one inch forward. They likely lost ground and will most certainly lose more once it gets to the Senate!
This is an action of a cornered wild animal who is lashing out because they are surrounded by their enemies... in this case the facts, evidence, and public opinion are their enemies. They move forward with impeachment ENTIRELY out of anger, without ANY regard to legal protocol or historical precedent.
But the Bottom Line James...
Is that this is not a serious impeachment. If it was then Democrats would have exhausted all of their legal options. They would have gotten all of their ducks in a row. They would have gathered all of the evidence.
But at this point they LITERALLY have not called on single witness who provides any direct corroboration of anything criminal. If this was an actual trial, the Judge would toss the case due to lack of making any sort of case.
They move forward because they have to. To keep it in the news. To not lose complete face (just 90% of their face). They lost, but cannot feasibly admit it without losing even more.
No one watched yesterday. I total ass fail.
"So we've got Pelosi snapping at reporters and Biden snapping at dem voters."
They are Winning. 🤣

Well Denny... I have heard Pelosi suggest that as Speaker that her authority is on Par with the President. That is a serious misstatement of fact. At best she "leading" something that is 1/2 of a co-equal branch. Only the authority of Congress exists outside of one Congressperson (Speaker or not). While the executive branch is tied exclusively to the President.
Roger is basically arguing (incorrectly) that the House of Representatives has some sort of inherent power over the executive branch. It doesn't. It has investigative rights (just as the executive - aka DOJ) has the same rights to investigate Congressional members. Who would you rather have investigating you? Pelosi or William Barr?
Good luck winning that Battle.
The idea of checks and balances work both ways.
The President has all sorts of checks available to him.
- The power of Veto.
- The power of EO.
- The power of the DOJ and FBI.
Pelosi has what exactly? The power to subpoena people and then just let it go when they don't comply?
liberals are such lovely people -
In my testimony Wednesday, I lamented that, as in the impeachment of President Clinton from 1998 to 1999, there is an intense “rancor and rage” and “stifling intolerance” that blinds people to opposing views. My call for greater civility and dialogue may have been the least successful argument I made to the committee. Before I finished my testimony, my home and office were inundated with threatening messages and demands that I be fired from George Washington University for arguing that, while a case for impeachment can be made, it has not been made on this record.

i think the exact word the alky is fond of using is "oversight." as if "oversight" provides the house with some overarching authority or power over the ability to preside over the executive.
as we all know, the house possesses no such power, neither actual nor implied.

Joe Biden Challenges Man to Push-Up Contest After Testy Exchange
Shortly after John Kerry, the former secretary of state, endorsed Mr. Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary, the former vice president had a heated confrontation with a voter.

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa — Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Thursday angrily lashed out at a voter who questioned his son’s overseas business dealings at a campaign stop in Iowa, calling the man a “damn liar” in an unusually heated exchange.
The man — who declined to identify himself to reporters — falsely claimed that Mr. Biden had “sent” his son to work in Ukraine and accused him of “selling access to the president.”
“You’re a damn liar, man,” Mr. Biden shot back. “That’s not true. And no one has ever said that. No one has proved that.”
Before raising that issue, he said Mr. Biden was “too old for the job” of president.
“I’m not sedentary,” Mr. Biden, 77, said. “The reason I’m running is because I’ve been around a long time and I know more than most people know. And I can get things done. That’s why I’m running.”
He went on to encourage the man to do push-ups or go running with him, or take an I.Q. test with him,

Phone Logs Renew Concerns About Security
December 5, 2019 at 9:09 pm EST
“President Trump has routinely communicated with his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, and other individuals speaking on cellphones vulnerable to monitoring by Russian and other foreign intelligence services,” the Washington Post reports.
“Phone records released this week by the House Intelligence Committee revealed extensive communications between Giuliani, unidentified individuals at the White House and others involved in the campaign to pressure Ukraine, with no indication that those calls were encrypted or otherwise shielded from foreign surveillance.
“The revelations raise the possibility that Moscow was able to learn about aspects of Trump’s attempt to get Ukraine to investigate a political rival months before that effort was exposed by a whistleblower report and the impeachment inquiry.”

Nancy Pelosi called on the House to begin drafting articles of impeachment against President Trump, saying it had become clear over the course of the investigation that the president had violated his oath of office by pressing a foreign power for help in the 2020 election.
The House Judiciary Committee said it would hold its next hearing Monday morning, to allow its lawyers and those for the Intelligence Committee to formally present the evidence they have collected.
The timetable put forth by Ms. Pelosi and the Judiciary Committee could lead to an impeachment vote by the full House before Christmas. on the House to begin drafting articles of impeachment against President Trump, saying it had become clear over the course of the investigation that the president had violated his oath of office by pressing a foreign power for help in the 2020 election.

Well, the gibbering, babbling left wanted an impeachment, and now they’re getting it good and hard. To the surprise of no one who isn’t a blue city pol, a media hack, or an insufferable Fredocon sissy, the American people are not particularly impressed by the genius idea of replacing our president a year before an election because he allegedly expressed curiosity about why the coke-sniffing, stripper-impregnating, dead brother’s wife-trifling, Navy-rejected loser son of Vice President Gropey O’Definitelynotsenile scored a $50K+ a month gig on a Ukrainian gas board. And it’s just dawning on some of them they maybe this impeachment brainstorm was not the bestest idea there ever was.
They think the optics of the Schiff hearings were great. They weren’t great. Yeah, let’s get a bunch of Deep State suits to come in and explain how the guy we elected to shake up the foreign policy elite’s decades of utter failure is bad because he is shaking up the foreign policy elite’s decades of utter failure. And then you have "That’s Lieutenant Colonel" Bratwurst – if you’ve been in uniform, you know there’s one of those guys in every unit, and the wise commander has him off inventorying combat boots at the CIF, where he can’t provoke the troops to hang him by his skivvies from the flag pole out in front of Division HQ. You look at this parade of smug, over-credentialed bureaucrats with delusions of competence and a track record of screw-ups and, to cite the popular meme, you realize that Trump was elected to fire people like them.

Impeachment
The inevitable is almost official now: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi directed committee chairmen to draw up articles of impeachment, all but confirming that President Trump will be impeached. However, Trump appears to be at peace with the idea. Before Pelosi's announcement, he tweeted, "(I)f you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast." He's likely hoping for a swift vote so he can get around to defending himself in a Senate trial. Pelosi, who answered reporters' questions and also participated in a CNN town hall yesterday, made it clear she and her colleagues aren't happy about impeachment, but she said it's their civic duty to defend the Constitution. "This isn't about politics at all. This is about patriotism," she said during the town hall. This doesn't mean the process is over, though. The House Judiciary Committee has announced it will hold its next impeachment hearing on Monday.
