Democratic impeachment hearings did sway public opinion! Negatively!

Public Opinion now split according to RCP Averages

Now this polling averages has moved for two reasons. Obviously there has been a change within individual polls. But also, there is polling (like CNN) that is now to old to consider at this point. Once a poll reaches a certain point, RCP drops it from the average. Perhaps that is because those pollsters (like CNN) don't care to poll anymore, or they are afraid to poll and publish the results.

Either way, it seems like some of the "steam" has gone out of the media interest and CNN has (like it or not) had record low viewership since they went with wall to wall impeachment coverage. Some have called them on their blanket partisan move of only showing the Democratic opening statement and then cutting away for analysis as the Republicans were speaking (this sort of thing will start to get monitored during election season by the FEC). But no matter how hard they try (or how often they toss in a "outliar" poll) the rest of the world doesn't see it working.

In the now-forgotten days of October 2016, the great rhetorical demand among Democrats was that Donald Trump and Republicans promise that they would “accept the results of the election.” This was always a little mystifying, inasmuch as it raised the question of what they might do instead — raise an army? But that rhetoric was premised on the assumption that the Republican candidate was going to lose in 2016. Since then, it has been Democrats who have steadfastly refused to accept the results of the 2016 election. The hyperbole about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election (settle down, you mouth-breathers — it is possible for something to be both real and exaggerated at the same time) is part of that. The impeachment is part of that. The years-long campaign to establish a pretext for impeachment was part of that. (Emoluments, indeed.) Michelle Goldberg’s bizarre politics-as-group-therapy (“Democracy Grief Is Real,” etc.) is part of that. So is “Resistance!” and the risible insistence that Donald Trump is the worst thing since Adolf Hitler.

My own belief is that the Republican party was wrong to nominate Donald Trump in 2016 and that he has no business being president of these United States. But that is how the election went. And the fact that your dotty old grandmother saw a couple of silly Russkie posts on Facebook does not change that. The votes were the votes. There is no serious dispute about that, but Democrats nonetheless reject the legitimacy of the election . . . just as they refused to accept the results of the last presidential election a Republican won.

(A pattern emerges . . . .)

It is the Democrats who are willing to undermine our institutions — accepting the incompetence and corruption at the FBI, IRS, NLRB, and more while pouring scorn on the efforts of inspectors general to address such incompetence and corruption. It is the Democrats who are bent on delegitimizing the Supreme Court now that they no longer believe that they can count on it to give them the political outcomes they fail to achieve through elections and legislation. It is the Democrats who now insist that evidence-free accusations are sufficient grounds to disqualify nominees for federal office, that universities and employers should be deputized to enforce political conformism and homogeneity, etc. Does anybody really think the Democrats would be leaning on Facebook if Hillary Rodham Clinton had been victorious in 2016?

You know better. You really do.

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. – An Wisconsin judge on Friday ordered the state to remove hundreds of thousands of people from Wisconsin's voter rolls because they may have moved.

The case is being closely watched because of the state's critical role in next year's presidential race. Ozaukee County Judge Paul Malloy also denied the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin's petition to intervene.

Lawyers for the League and for the Wisconsin Elections Commission indicated they will appeal and asked Malloy to stay his ruling pending those appeals, but he declined.

At issue is a letter the state Elections Commission sent in October to about 234,000 voters who it believes may have moved. The letter asked the voters to update their voter registrations if they had moved or alert election officials if they were still at their same address.

The commission planned to remove the letter's recipients from the voter rolls in 2021 if it hadn't heard from them. But Malloy's decision would kick them off the rolls much sooner, and well before the 2020 presidential election.

The Fake news is fdazz.

Fox News poll on voter support for impeachment contradicted President Trump, who recently boasted major support in favor of “No Impeachment.”

Amid last week’s historic House Judiciary Committee vote to advance two articles of impeachment, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, the president tweeted, “Poll numbers have gone through the roof in favor of No Impeachment, especially with swing States and Independents in swing States. People have figured out that the Democrats have no case, it is a total Hoax.”

But a fresh Fox News poll conducted last week and released on Sunday found that a majority of the American electorate wants Trump impeached. Fifty percent are in favor of impeaching and removing the president, while four percent say he should be impeached but not removed, and 41 percent oppose impeachment altogether.

The poll comes after Trump on Sunday lashed out at his favorite news channel for “trying sooo hard to be politically correct” after it decided to interview his political foes, including Rep. Adam Schiff, leader of the impeachment process in Congress.

“Both Commiecast MSNBC & Fake News CNN are watching their Ratings TANK,” he said on Twitter. “Don’t know why @FoxNews wants to be more like them? They’ll all die together as other outlets take their place. Only pro Trump Fox shows do well. Rest are nothing.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/12/13/biggest-pinocchios/

It’s time for our annual roundup of the biggest Pinocchios of the year.
Once again, we face the challenge posed by President Trump, who could easily dominate this list if we’re not careful. The president is a serial exaggerator without parallel in U.S. politics. He not only consistently makes false claims but also repeats them, in some cases hundreds of times, even though they have been proved wrong.
The explosion of false and misleading statements from Trump during his presidency is well-documented in our database. We will be updating it next week, but it looks as though he will cross the 15,000 mark.
We wanted to keep this list to 13 items, and Trump ended up with seven. Even then, you can say we are cheating because a few of Trump’s items are all-around categories. Trump’s adult sons also made it on the list. The only other person with more than one statement is Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), who this month dropped out of the 2020 presidential race; Harris also merited an entry on the 2018 list.
AD
ADVERTISING

Our list has no particular order, though readers will note that Trump’s claims about CrowdStrike and the Democratic National Committee server are listed first. That’s because Trump’s obsession with a debunked conspiracy theory led him to raise it in a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — and that in turn launched the impeachment inquiry in the House. The second item concerns Trump’s many false claims in arguing against the impeachment inquiry.
We tend to focus on statements that have impact — and are made by people in power. In compiling this list, we mostly focused on claims that earned Four Pinocchios during the year. To keep it simple, in some cases, we have shortened or paraphrased the quotes in the headlines. To read the full column, click on the link embedded in the quote. The all-around categories have links within the summaries.
‘The DNC server is in Ukraine because of a Ukrainian company.’
(Ricky Carioti/The Washington Post)
(Ricky Carioti/The Washington Post)
Donald Trump appears to believe that the DNC servers hacked by Russia ended up in Ukraine, even though this has been roundly debunked by even the president’s own aides and supporters. Yet he persists in repeating it, mostly recently the day after his former top Russia aide, Fiona Hill, said the claim that Ukraine intervened in the 2016 election was the product of Russian intelligence. (Even the hosts of “Fox and Friends” appeared surprised to hear him say it again.) Moreover, CrowdStrike, the company that exposed the DNC hack, is based in California, not Ukraine, and its co-founder was born in Russia, not Ukraine

New Fox News poll on impeachment contradicts the view of its most loyal viewer

Dec 15th 2019 12:51PM

A new Fox News poll on voter support for impeachment contradicted President Trump, who recently boasted major support in favor of “No Impeachment.”

Fifty percent are in favor of impeaching and removing the president, while four percent say impeached but not removed, and 41 percent oppose impeachment altogether.

The poll comes after Trump on Sunday lashed out at his favorite news channel for “trying sooo hard to be politically correct” after they decided to interview his political foes, including Rep.

Hours after impeachment charges were advanced for a vote in a full Democrat-led House Friday Trump denounced the prospect of becoming the third U.S. president to be impeached.

“It’s not fair that I’m being Impeached when I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong!” he tweeted. “The Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats have become the Party of Hate. They are so bad for our Country!

Since the impeachment inquiry into Trump’s dealings with Ukraine’s government was launched in September, public opinion has not swung decisively in Democrats’ favor, despite hundreds of hours of testimony, a 300-page impeachment report and even now with the approval of articles of impeachment.

The Fox News poll pointed out views on impeachment have been steady over the past weeks leading up to the vote: those in favor of impeaching and removing Trump only increased by one percent while all other stances remained the same.

A recent Yahoo News/YouGov poll also showed that a majority of registered voters buy Democrats’ central argument for impeachment: that Trump put his own interests above the national interest and security when he pressured Ukraine to launch investigations into the Biden family and alleged Ukrainian support for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

“Put simply, President Trump’s own words reveal that he solicited a foreign government to investigate his political rival. The President did so for his own political gain, rather than for foreign policy reasons,” the report says. “The testimony of experienced, expert officials in his own administration—including several of his own appointees—reveal that the President used his official powers as leverage to pressure a vulnerable strategic partner to do his bidding. And every indication, every piece of evidence, supports that the President will abuse his power again.”

Bad news for Dems: The swing voters aren't swinging anymore - Axios focus group

Have Democrats shot themselves in the foot with impeachment?

Sure looks like it with this damning piece about voter sentiment for them in this Axios focus-group piece:
SAGINAW, Mich. — Some swing voters here who voted for Barack Obama and then Donald Trump are firmly in Trump’s camp now — and they're sick of impeachment.
Why it matters: The two-plus hour conversation revealed major warning signs for the Democratic Party in a crucial swing county that will be a pivotal area to win in 2020.

"German railway company has taken back an apology they made to Greta Thunberg after they realized the climate activist wasn’t schlepping it on the train’s floor but instead was treated “friendly” in first class.

The rail company was responding to an image Thunberg tweeted of herself sitting amid bags and suitcases on the floor of what she called “overcrowded trains through Germany.”

The company, Deutsche Bahn, initially released a statement that said they “continue working hard on getting more trains, connections and seats.”

But upon reflection, Deutsche Bahn said Thunberg’s “overcrowded” claims were just hot air.

“It would have been even nicer if you had also reported how friendly and competently our team served you at your seat in first class,” the company added.

Thunberg then claimed that jam-packed trains were actually great and having to sit on the floor wasn’t an issue."

She lied.
