Democrat's own impeachment witness agrees with me!

I got a lot of crap (along with 42K views, 69 retweets, and over 400 likes) over my tweet that suggested Trump would not be considered impeached if the Democrats never present the articles to Senate. It seemed like suddenly a bunch of lowlifes on twitter became constitutional experts and all of them wanted to make me aware that I was wrong.

At the time I was making a political rhetorical semantic argument (spin as you will) without ever stopping to consider if it had any real legal standing. I was thinking more along the lines of how the President, Republicans, and the conservative media was going to play it out. The idea that the impeachment would be withdrawn or never made official if it was not presented to the Senate seemed like a likely concept for the talking points memo.

Little did I know that other (well real) constitutional experts would see it that same way. That such an argument was not just spin, but actually real. If the Democrat's own witness sees it that way, then I am sure others will jump aboard on that concept. It sort of makes sense if you truly see the impeachment as process with a beginning and and an end. We generally think of the "vote" as the end of the process, but in this case it's not. The "vote" provides the authority to approve the articles and send them to the Senate.

It's still possible that the actual situation will be that Democrats in the House voted to authorize Trump's impeachment, but that Democratic leadership never followed through.

The real and potentially dangerous reason why the stock market is flourishing.........only time will tell if people are guessing correctly or will be OBE by a future event!!!!!!

Billions of dollars are flowing back into stocks and equity funds as investors brush aside fear of a recession.

“It seemed as though investors are trying to play catch up because they have a fear of missing out (FOMO) on the next upside movement in stocks,” Kevin Mahn the president and chief investment officer at Hennion & Walsh Asset Management, told Yahoo Finances On the Move, “I think it’s that fear that’s going to carry forward at least into the first quarter of next year and propel stocks even higher.”

Data from Deutsche Bank Research showed big money, $7.2 billion, flowed into equities the week that ended December 6. A note to investors points out that “strong inflows in recent weeks represent a clear inflection higher after persistent heavy outflows since last December.”

That was a week before the United States and China announced a “phase one” trade deal and that both countries were planning to delay tariff increases.

But according to Deutsche Bank, money began flowing into equity funds well before December 6 and the subsequent trade announcement. “Indeed, the last six weeks have seen inflows of $43 billion into equity funds, easily their best period since March 2018.” Most of that money went to equities outside the U.S. which Deutsche Bank says can be closely tied to global growth and are, “commensurate with a robust recovery.”

At the rally, Trump suggested Dingell’s late husband, Rep. John Dingell, isn’t “looking down” on them, as he said that Dingell had told him once. Instead, the president suggested, he might be “looking up.”

“I’m sorry about this that happened last night. This is completely — I don’t know why he — this was so unnecessary,” Bartiromo said after playing the clip. The clip also included Trump saying “Debbie Dingell, that’s a real beauty.”

Dingell responded on Twitter that as she prepares for her first holiday season without her husband, Trump’s comments were especially hurtful. Thursday morning, she joined Bartiromo in the studio, saying that she’s back to her job and ready to keep working. She referenced a series of bills and initiatives she wants to keep working on without distraction.

“That’s what I’ve got to do,” she said, adding on Wednesday that when Trump was impeached, it was “a very difficult day for our democracy.”

Dingell also defended her husband, noting his burial at Arlington National Cemetery and veteran status.

If you bothered to read the article it actually explains it pretty well.

Impeachment is a process, with the vote just being part of the process. The process does not "end" at or after the vote. The vote basically just allows impeachment to continue.

Liken it to a bill that is passed by the House but never makes it into law. Sometimes a bill is voted on but not sent to the Senate (for a variety of reasons). Sometimes they will retake a new vote on a new bill that is similar that will be passed by the House. You can argue that it was voted for and passed by the House, but that doesn't make it official till the process is completed. You cannot call it a law until the process is complete.

So at this point, the House has "passed" the articles of impeachment. But he will not actually have been officially impeached until those articles are sent to the Senate for a Senate trial or vote.

Evangelical Magazine Calls for Trump’s Removal
December 19, 2019 at 7:39 pm EST

Christianity Today, the flagship Evangelical magazine founded by the Rev. Billy Graham, called for President Trump to be removed from office.

“We have reserved judgment on Mr. Trump for years now. Some have criticized us for our reserve. But when it comes to condemning the behavior of another, patient charity must come first. So we have done our best to give evangelical Trump supporters their due, to try to understand their point of view, to see the prudential nature of so many political decisions they have made regarding Mr. Trump.

“To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence. And just when we think it’s time to push all our chips to the center of the table, that’s when the whole game will come crashing down. It will crash down on the reputation of evangelical religion and on the world’s understanding of the gospel. And it will come crashing down on a nation of men and women whose welfare is also our concern.”

Why Impeachment Is A Massive Blunder For Nancy Pelosi

But despite Wednesday’s long-expected vote and the media cheer group accompanying it, this is going terribly for the Democrats.

There’s a willful suspension of belief at work in the capital city. Self-proclaimed defenders of the Constitution make excuses for sloppy spying on a major candidate for president. Men who compare themselves to those at Valley Forge shift seamlessly from allegations of urine-soaked escapades to collusion with the Kremlin, from the Kremlin to Ukraine, and finally from quid-quo-pro to bribery to obstruction, with stopovers on NFL anthem protests and insults to “The Squad.” The speaker quotes the deceased Elijah Cummings in wondering, “When we’re dancing with the angels, the question will be asked, in 2019,” did we impeach Donald Trump?

Just before the impeachment vote, while not agreeing to the number the White House asked for, Congress sent another $1.4 billion to build the president’s wall. The day after impeachment, Pelosi appears ready to pass the president’s trade deal. And since impeachment began, the president’s party gained more than 600,000 new donors and raised more than $10 million.

Trump Should Be Removed from Office

It’s time to say what we said 20 years ago when a president’s character was revealed for what it was.

MARK GALLI
DECEMBER 19, 2019

In our founding documents, Billy Graham explains that Christianity Today will help evangelical Christians interpret the news in a manner that reflects their faith. The impeachment of Donald Trump is a significant event in the story of our republic. It requires comment.

The typical CT approach is to stay above the fray and allow Christians with different political convictions to make their arguments in the public square, to encourage all to pursue justice according to their convictions and treat their political opposition as charitably as possible. We want CT to be a place that welcomes Christians from across the political spectrum, and reminds everyone that politics is not the end and purpose of our being. We take pride in the fact, for instance, that politics does not dominate our homepage.

That said, we do feel it necessary from time to time to make our own opinions on political matters clear—always, as Graham encouraged us, doing so with both conviction and love. We love and pray for our president, as we love and pray for leaders (as well as ordinary citizens) on both sides of the political aisle.

Let’s grant this to the president: The Democrats have had it out for him from day one, and therefore nearly everything they do is under a cloud of partisan suspicion. This has led many to suspect not only motives but facts in these recent impeachment hearings. And, no, Mr. Trump did not have a serious opportunity to offer his side of the story in the House hearings on impeachment.

But the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.

The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.

Trump’s evangelical supporters have pointed to his Supreme Court nominees, his defense of religious liberty, and his stewardship of the economy, among other things, as achievements that justify their support of the president. We believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath. The impeachment hearings have illuminated the president’s moral deficiencies for all to see. This damages the institution of the presidency, damages the reputation of our country, and damages both the spirit and the future of our people. None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

This concern for the character of our national leader is not new in CT. In 1998, we wrote this:

The President's failure to tell the truth—even when cornered—rips at the fabric of the nation. This is not a private affair. For above all, social intercourse is built on a presumption of trust: trust that the milk your grocer sells you is wholesome and pure; trust that the money you put in your bank can be taken out of the bank; trust that your babysitter, firefighters, clergy, and ambulance drivers will all do their best. And while politicians are notorious for breaking campaign promises, while in office they have a fundamental obligation to uphold our trust in them and to live by the law.

And this:

Unsavory dealings and immoral acts by the President and those close to him have rendered this administration morally unable to lead.

Unfortunately, the words that we applied to Mr. Clinton 20 years ago apply almost perfectly to our current president. Whether Mr. Trump should be removed from office by the Senate or by popular vote next election—that is a matter of prudential judgment. That he should be removed, we believe, is not a matter of partisan loyalties but loyalty to the Creator of the Ten Commandments.

To the many evangelicals who continue to support Mr. Trump in spite of his blackened moral record, we might say this: Remember who you are and whom you serve. Consider how your justification of Mr. Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior. Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr. Trump’s immoral words and behavior in the cause of political expediency. If we don’t reverse course now, will anyone take anything we say about justice and righteousness with any seriousness for decades to come? Can we say with a straight face that abortion is a great evil that cannot be tolerated and, with the same straight face, say that the bent and broken character of our nation’s leader doesn’t really matter in the end?

We have reserved judgment on Mr. Trump. To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence. And just when we think it’s time to push all our chips to the center of the table, that’s when the whole game will come crashing down. It will crash down on the reputation of evangelical religion and on the world’s understanding of the gospel. And it will come crashing down on a nation of men and women whose welfare is also our concern.

Franklin Graham

My Response to Christianity Today:

Christianity Today released an editorial stating that President Trump should be removed from office—and they invoked my father’s name (I suppose to try to bring legitimacy to their statements), so I feel it is important for me to respond. Yes, my father Billy Graham founded Christianity Today; but no, he would not agree with their opinion piece. In fact, he would be very disappointed. I have not previously shared who my father voted for in the past election, but because of this article, I feel it is necessary to share it now. My father knew Donald Trump, he believed in Donald Trump, and he voted for Donald Trump. He believed that Donald J. Trump was the man for this hour in history for our nation.

For Christianity Today to side with the Democrat Party in a totally partisan attack on the President of the United States is unfathomable. Christianity Today failed to acknowledge that not one single Republican voted with the Democrats to impeach the President. I know a number of Republicans in Congress, and many of them are strong Christians. If the President were guilty of what the Democrats claimed, these Republicans would have joined with the Democrats to impeach him. But the Democrats were not even unanimous—two voted against impeachment and one voted present. This impeachment was politically motivated, 100% partisan. Why would Christianity Today choose to take the side of the Democrat left whose only goal is to discredit and smear the name of a sitting president? They want readers to believe the Democrat leadership rather than believe the President of the United States.

Cook Political Report:
“A year into this election cycle, the overall Senate landscape generally looks much like I thought it would. The races that seemed likely to be the most competitive are, in fact, the most competitive today. And, if the race ratings don’t quite reflect it yet, Democrats appear to have expanded the playing field enough to put Republicans’ majority at risk.

“It appears that there will be at least five GOP-held seats in play, with a chance that Democrats could add one or two more. This puts Democrats in a position to win the majority, even if they lose Alabama and/or Michigan. This is not to suggest that Democrats will win the majority, only that their prospects are considerably better today than they were five months ago.”

U.S. Steel to Eliminate 1,545 Michigan Jobs
(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Steel Corp. plunged after delivering a barrage of harsh news, warning of a loss and announcing it will shut down most of its Great Lakes Works facility near Detroit, lay off workers and slash its dividend.

The adjusted loss is expected to be about $1.15 a share in the fourth quarter, with a fully diluted loss of 42 cents for 2019, the Pittsburgh-based company said Thursday in a statement. The industrial icon plans to lay off as many as 1,545 workers from the Michigan plant, reduce its quarterly dividend to 1 cent from 5 cents, and prune capital expenditures.

U.S. steelmakers are facing slowing demand in the manufacturing sector, even though mills have enjoyed protection because of Trump administration tariffs. U.S. Steel has been a laggard in the domestic industry, with aging plants that are less efficient than rivals with newer technology. That’s led to a spate of operational initiatives under different names that have shifted multiple times since 2014.

Oh Joe.

"Moderator Tim Alberta asked: "Three consecutive American presidents have enjoyed stints of explosive economic growth due to a boom in oil and natural gas production. As president, would you be willing to sacrifice some of that growth, even knowing potentially that it could displace thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of blue-collar workers in the interest of transitioning to that greener economy?”

PBS MODERATOR AWKWARDLY CORRECTED AFTER CONFUSING ANDREW YANG FOR TOM STEYER: 'I'M OVER HERE!'

“The answer is yes,” the former vice president said.

But Biden -- the front-runner in national polling in the Democratic nomination race -- emphasized that “the opportunity for those workers to transition to high-paying jobs ... is real."

Lol, real as the lost years putting 1 million EV on the road.
"
DETROIT (Reuters) - Back in 2008, with gas prices averaging nearly $4 a gallon, President Barack Obama set a goal of getting one million plug-in electric vehicles on the roads by 2015.

Since then, his administration has backed billions of dollars in EV subsidies for consumers and the industry.

Yet today – with gas prices near $2 a gallon - only about 400,000 electric cars have been sold. Last year, sales fell 6 percent over the previous year, to about 115,000, despite the industry offering about 30 plug-in models, often at deep discounts."

it should be upheld, no problem.

the power to impeach rests solely with the house.

the power to convict or acquit rests solely with the senate.

constitutionally there is no cross-over of responsibilities between the two legislative chambers.

none.

so pederast, what you assholes are holding out for would be an extra-judicial remedy to schumer's butt hurt, and one that falls clearly outside of constitutional norms.

mitch said it best when he said that poli-grip pelosi is withholding something the senate doesn't even want. so she's pulling a stunt that's the brainchild of the most severely TDS-afflicted law prof on the planet.

LOL.

and each day she holds out is one more day that the noose tightens on 31 democrat asshats who won on a fluke to begin with.

it looks like the old saying "get woke, go broke" even applies to the house of representatives.

as dumb fuck denny would say -

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

The silent killer in our homes: Wood-burning stoves emit six times as much pollution as a diesel truck... and they're ruining your health even if you don’t own one
Wood-burning stove may be doing the British atmosphere more harm than good

Their march has been unstoppable, from traditional farmhouses and cosy country cottages all the way to the front rooms of suburban semis. No family home, it seems, is complete without a stylish wood-burning stove.

And why not? Anyone who has ever watched the gently dancing flames will know that real fires are relaxing and reassuring, a nostalgic link to an age when life was simpler.

Featuring in endless glossy photoshoots, wood-burning stoves have even acquired something of a ‘green’ image, viewed as a clean, efficient and renewable source of heat.

Yet this cosy reputation conceals an altogether dirtier reality.

Scientists have found that wood burning stoves are choking the British atmosphere, adding to the smoke particles from traffic, industry and farming that cause thousands of preventable deaths +4
Scientists have found that wood burning stoves are choking the British atmosphere, adding to the smoke particles from traffic, industry and farming that cause thousands of preventable deaths

Because, whether in open hearths or specialist burners, wood fires are choking the British atmosphere, adding to the smoke particles from traffic, industry and farming that cause thousands of preventable deaths.

ADVERTISING

Although barely discussed, the evidence is shocking: just one of the latest ‘eco-friendly’ wood-burning stoves – those meeting all European tests – can produce about six times more particle pollution than a modern diesel lorry, or 18 times more than a modern diesel car.

Worse, still, they release their fumes into residential areas and at times when people are likely to be at home.

Few of us need to heat our homes with wood, rather than gas or electricity. In other words, the stoves and hearths we spark up for that extra cosy glow on a winter evening are little more than a lifestyle accessory.

One reason there’s so little discussion of this silent threat is that the smoke they produce is almost invisible, particularly when compared with the killer smogs of the 20th Century.

Those filthy, sometimes deadly combinations of fog and smoke caused by burning coal, led directly to the widely acclaimed Clean Air legislation of the 1950s.

It wasn’t until a chance discovery in Paris in 2005 that the modern menace of urban wood-burning was even identified.

Oliver Favez, a young PhD student, was measuring air pollution in a city park when he noticed a pattern that could not be linked to diesel fumes.

Instead, his instruments recorded a chemical signature previously seen in Alpine valleys, where wood-burning has a serious impact on air pollution. If the readings were correct, it was a serious problem in Paris, too.

Joe Biden's spawn coke head Hunter.

"The Daily Mail reports the former vice president’s son has complained that Lunden Roberts’s requests will make his business activities “open to the world’s media.” The younger Biden is also said to be fuming about having to partake in a deposition the night before Christmas Eve, new court papers obtained by the outlet show. Hunter’s lawyers write that the scheduled December 23rd interview could “unreasonably annoy, embarrass or oppress” the 49-year-old and his family."

Hey, Hunter your pole dancing stripper that you knocked up and then she gave birth , well they are your Family.
