The main thing people should take from a reporter tweeting out “Merry Impeachmas” is not that she’s biased. We already know that. The takeaway is nobody takes impeachment less serious than the people who’ve been screaming about how serious it is.
On Thursday morning, Pergram (who covers Congress for Fox News) went to Twitter and reported, “Multiple sources tell Fox Trump is playing w/fire by taking on the Dingells in the swing state of Michigan.” A source described by Pergram as a “senior GOP congressman”<,b> told Fox News that Trump “could lose Michigan alone on this one.”

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham told ABC's “Good Morning America" that Trump was “just riffing” when he spoke about Dingell at the Wednesday night rally. She said she didn't know why Trump decided to suggest that Dingell was in hell.
“You'd have to talk to the president about that," she said.
But Grisham suggested that the president was venting his frustration after being impeached by the House: "It was a very very supportive and wild crowd and he was just riffing on some of the things that had been happening the past few days.”
Trump said at the rally that Debbie Dingell had thanked him profusely for providing “A-plus treatment” after John Dingell's death in February, including ordering flags flown at half-staff.
He quoted Debbie Dingell as saying at that time, “Thank you so much. John would be so thrilled. He's looking down.”

his concern for the character of our national leader is not new in CT. In 1998, we wrote this:
The President's failure to tell the truth—even when cornered—rips at the fabric of the nation. This is not a private affair. For above all, social intercourse is built on a presumption of trust: trust that the milk your grocer sells you is wholesome and pure; trust that the money you put in your bank can be taken out of the bank; trust that your babysitter, firefighters, clergy, and ambulance drivers will all do their best. And while politicians are notorious for breaking campaign promises, while in office they have a fundamental obligation to uphold our trust in them and to live by the law.
And this:
Unsavory dealings and immoral acts by the President and those close to him have rendered this administration morally unable to lead.
Unfortunately, the words that we applied to Mr. Clinton 20 years ago apply almost perfectly to our current president. Whether Mr. Trump should be removed from office by the Senate or by popular vote next election—that is a matter of prudential judgment. That he should be removed, we believe, is not a matter of partisan loyalties but loyalty to the Creator of the Ten Commandments.
To the many evangelicals who continue to support Mr. Trump in spite of his blackened moral record, we might say this: Remember who you are and whom you serve. Consider how your justification of Mr. Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior. Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr. Trump’s immoral words and behavior in the cause of political expediency. If we don’t reverse course now, will anyone take anything we say about justice and righteousness with any seriousness for decades to come? Can we say with a straight face that abortion is a great evil that cannot be tolerated and, with the same straight face, say that the bent and broken character of our nation’s leader doesn’t really matter in the end?

After meeting privately in July 2017 with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Group of 20 summit in Hamburg, Trump grew more insistent that Ukraine worked to defeat him, according to multiple former officials familiar with his assertions. The president’s intense resistance to the assessment of U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia systematically interfered in the 2016 campaign — and the blame he cast instead on a rival country — led many of his advisers to think that Putin himself helped spur the idea of Ukraine’s culpability, said the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe internal discussions. According to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll conducted after the House of Representatives voted Wednesday to impeach Donald Trump, majorities of registered voters agree that the president both abused his powers and obstructed Congress — the two offenses cited in the House’s articles of impeachment.
Asked whether Trump abused his powers as president, 53 percent of registered voters said he did; only 40 percent said he did not. Fifty-one percent said Trump obstructed Congress; again, only 40 percent said he did not.
The bottom line is that registered voters favor the House’s decision to impeach the president by a 50 percent to 45 percent margin. Previous Yahoo News/YouGov polls found slightly lower levels of support for impeachment among registered voters: 48 percent in November and 49 percent earlier this month. We have reserved judgment on Mr. Trump for years now. Some have criticized us for our reserve. But when it comes to condemning the behavior of another, patient charity must come first. So we have done our best to give evangelical Trump supporters their due, to try to understand their point of view, to see the prudential nature of so many political decisions they have made regarding Mr. Trump. To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence. And just when we think it’s time to push all our chips to the center of the table, that’s when the whole game will come crashing down. It will crash down on the reputation of evangelical religion and on the world’s understanding of the gospel. And it will come crashing down on a nation of men and women whose welfare is also our concern.

On Jan. 2, 2016, in a remote stretch of southeastern Oregon, a cadre of anti-government militiamen carrying pistols and long guns stationed themselves at the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, a federally-owned park. Their armed occupation ended 41 days later with one protester shot dead by police and more than two dozen others facing federal charges.
Now, investigators commissioned by the Washington State House of Representatives say the anti-government occupiers had a high-profile accomplice: A Republican state legislator known for his extremist views.
An official report released late Thursday found that Washington state Rep. Matt Shea (R) had “participated in an act of domestic terrorism.”
Shea, whose ties to the Patriot movement and anti-government militias were explored in the serial podcast “Bundyville: The Remnant,” once introduced legislation to cut Washington state in half to establish a so-called “Liberty State” in deep-red eastern Washington where citizens would have unfettered access to guns and church and state would walk hand-in-hand. The new report found that he had close relationships with members of armed militias and used them to intimidate opponents.

Soon after the Washington state House of Representatives received the report on Thursday, the state’s House Republican Caucus erased Shea from its website and severed ties with the six-term legislator who represents Spokane Valley, a suburb that stretches from Spokane’s edges to the Idaho border. Shea was stripped of his committee assignments and denounced by caucus leadership.
