Lindsey Graham (one day after Ted Cruz made the same argument) suggested that there are at least 51 votes to call Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, as well as the DNC staffer accused of conspiring with Ukraine in regards to the 2016 election. The concept would be to do a full court press for the case that the President was fully and completely justified in asking Ukraine to investigate possible corruption by both the Bidens, and the DNC.
The House Democrat Impeachment Managers desperately attempted to make the case that such a request was unwarranted and that the President was asking Zelensky to "make up things" for political gain. The basic bottom line requirement for Democrat's impeachment efforts requires them to not only claim that the President was acting in "bad faith" when he talked to Zelensky about Burisma and (by extension) the Bidens, but to be able to prove that it was in bad faith.
After all, they are the prosecution and the burden of proof is on them!
But the Presidents team hit back hard with half a day's worth of evidence against the Bidens and the DNC. One could hardly listen to this and objectively come out of it still demanding that the President's opponents are innocent of any and all wrongdoing. Even people as far left as Chris Matthews were admitting that the evidence against the Bidens was overwhelming and that they may no longer be irrelevant to this impeachment trial.
The House impeachment managers opened the door to possible testimony from the Bidens. The evidence presented by the President's defense team blew that door off the hinges.
It looks as those Slow Joe will have to do more than get angry and challenge men older than he to push up contests. He may have to show up at this Senate trial and defend the actions of both him and his son. Unfortunately for Joe, there may not be much of a defense for him to offer above and beyond the stonewalling that has been going on for the past several months. But that won't work once he takes the stand.

Democrats are demanding several witnesses, especially John Bolton, Trump's former national security adviser who writes in a forthcoming book that Trump told him he wanted to withhold military aid from Ukraine until it helped with investigations into Democratic rival Joe Biden. That's the crux of one major article of impeachment against the president.
McConnell gave the news to senators, according to a Republican familiar with a closed-door meeting of GOP senators and granted anonymity to discuss it.
McConnell convened the meeting shortly after Trump's legal team made its closing arguments in the trial.
There are still several days before any potential witness vote would be taken. A decision to call more witnesses would require 51 votes to pass. With a 53-47 majority, Republicans can only afford to lose three.
If senators agree they want more witnesses they would then have to vote again on which ones to call.
The news came as Trump's legal team argued forcefully against the relevance of testimony from Bolton and concluded their defense as the Senate braced for debate on witnesses.

Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) launched a bid for U.S. Senate on Fox News, saying he’d center his campaign on support for President Trump as he dismissed concerns about opening a bitter Republican rift in Georgia, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Said Collins: “I’ve still got a lot of work left to do to help this president. We’re getting ready for a good time down here to keep defending this president and working for the people of Georgia.”
“The decision by the four-term congressman sets up a battle with Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), a wealthy Republican executive tapped by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) in December.”

“Allies of Donald Trump have begun holding events in black communities where organizers lavish praise on the president as they hand out tens of thousands of dollars to lucky attendees,” Politico reports.
“The first giveaway took place last month in Cleveland, where recipients whose winning tickets were drawn from a bin landed cash gifts in increments of several hundred dollars, stuffed into envelopes. A second giveaway scheduled for this month in Virginia has been postponed, and more are said to be in the works.”
