That "EXACT" question was asked of Dr Fauci yesterday during the briefing. Both Fauci and Birx flat out said that they (the top epidemiologists in the world) believed that we acted as early as they could have given what they knew at the time (some of which was clearly misleading information from China). That sometimes the spreads of these diseases are unknown (since nobody knew anything about this strain of the virus).
What the U.S. (and others) have done in response is clearly the most aggressive response we have ever had. We are doing more testing than any other country and so far our rate of deaths is one of the lowest in the world. We literally have built hospitals in few days, and have military medical ships at the hot spots.
So I challenge you...
As a retired part time Reverend who reads political blogs to guide your opinions on epidemic expertise...
Why should I believe YOUR opinion over the opinions of the top epidemiologists in the world?
Provide me the recommendations being made 8-10 weeks ago from medical experts associated with political.wire who had a better plan in place?

Both doctors on the task force have rejected the notion that the US and the task force acted slowly based on the information that they have.
They literally rejected it again yesterday.
What we have today (and over the past few weeks) are people complaining either in hindsight, or literally demanding that things should be done that have already been done, or they are demanding that things (like a National shutdown) take place that is quite literally outside the scope of what our Federal Government can do.
The idea that we have not created enough tests is simply a lie. The idea that we are too slow with medical equipment is simply a lie.
I say that, not because there are not people who would like in a typical "more me now" fashion who want more now. I say that not because we have what we would want in a perfect world.
But rather that in comparison to the rest of the world we are far exceeding everyone in terms of testing and support. We have more hospital beds, more respirators, and more equipment than anyone. We have tested more people and are doing more to develop better testing. Most of the world is waiting on us to help them out.
But the reality is that sometimes there is a crisis that will overwhelm the system. That is not anyone's fault (unless you want to blame the Obama administration for using up much of our medical reserves in 2009 and not bothering to replenish them).
The reality is that you cannot just "build" 30,000 ventilators overnight and ship them to Governor Cuomo. Even if you did, he would likely lose them in some warehouse and complain for a week that he never got them.
The reality is that cannot just create 100 million tests overnight for a virus that didn't previously exist. Guess what, you may even get this test wrong a few times before it becomes perfect. Everyone else (including China) got it wrong more than right.
Suggesting that such impossible feats are proof that Trump is personally to blame for being "unprepared" is just ridiculous...

“Throughout the crisis that has now hit New York City harder than any other area of the country, Mayor Bill de Blasio offered comments that, like Trump, downplayed the threat and suggested the city was ready for what lay ahead. The mayor also repeatedly told people that transmission of the disease was very unlikely in casual encounters and in public places.”

Well I stopped reading after the first paragraph of 8:39....

That "EXACT" question was asked of Dr Fauci yesterday during the briefing. Both Fauci and Birx flat out said that they (the top epidemiologists in the world) believed that we acted as early as they could have given what they knew at the time (some of which was clearly misleading information from China). That sometimes the spreads of these diseases are unknown (since nobody knew anything about this strain of the virus).
What the U.S. (and others) have done in response is clearly the most aggressive response we have ever had. We are doing more testing than any other country and so far our rate of deaths is one of the lowest in the world. We literally have built hospitals in few days, and have military medical ships at the hot spots.
So I challenge you...

Why should I believe YOUR opinion over the opinions of the top epidemiologists in the world?
Provide me the recommendations being made 8-10 weeks ago from medical experts associated with political.wire who had a better plan in place?
Provide for me the expert opinions from your blogs that come from people more credible in this field as Dr Fauci and Dr Birx...
If you cannot do so...

Both doctors on the task force have rejected the notion that the US and the task force acted slowly based on the information that they have.
They literally rejected it again yesterday.
What we have today (and over the past few weeks) are people complaining either in hindsight, or literally demanding that things should be done that have already been done, or they are demanding that things (like a National shutdown) take place that is quite literally outside the scope of what our Federal Government can do.
The idea that we have not created enough tests is simply a lie.
The idea that we are too slow with medical equipment is simply a lie.
I say that, not because there are not people who would like in a typical "more me now" fashion who want more now. I say that not because we have what we would want in a perfect world.
But rather that in comparison to the rest of the world we are far exceeding everyone in terms of testing and support. We have more hospital beds, more respirators, and more equipment than anyone. We have tested more people and are doing more to develop better testing. Most of the world is waiting on us to help them out.
But the reality is that sometimes there is a crisis that will overwhelm the system. That is not anyone's fault (unless you want to blame the Obama administration for using up much of our medical reserves in 2009 and not bothering to replenish them).
The reality is that you cannot just "build" 30,000 ventilators overnight and ship them to Governor Cuomo. Even if you did, he would likely lose them in some warehouse and complain for a week that he never got them.
The reality is that cannot just create 100 million tests overnight for a virus that didn't previously exist. Guess what, you may even get this test wrong a few times before it becomes perfect. Everyone else (including China) got it wrong more than right.
Suggesting that such impossible feats are proof that Trump is personally to blame for being "unprepared" is just ridiculous...
