Is Amy Klobuchar the frontrunner for Biden VP slot?

Biden Campaign Insider Says Amy Klobuchar ‘Could Be #1’ on Short List for VP Slot; Provides Odds for Others
Due to his age and particularly because of his obvious cognitive decline in recent months, the business of selecting a running mate for the former Vice President is especially important. Democratic strategist James Carville told The New York Post, “I think he’s aware that he might be picking the next president. I think people are going to be more aware of that, too.”
A campaign insider spoke to The Post and provided a glimpse of the odds of selection for eleven potential candidates. This insider said of Klobuchar, “She could be No. 1.” With odds of selection of 5 to 2, the senator from Minnesota tops the list.

This is troubling. Even Democratic strategists and players are admitting that Biden is experiencing the sort of physical and cognitive decline that makes it unlikely that he will finish even one term. Because let's be clear, Amy Klobuchar is unlikely to become President via an election. The idea that people would vote for a placeholder for the "real" candidate (Vice President) is an alarming, yet not all that surprising situation.

But if that is the case, then why Klobuchar? She proved very little during her run other than people do not get extremely excited about her. While I don't have any issues with her as my Senator (I actually like her less after watching her run for President because her facade of being moderate went twisting away in the wind).. I don't see her as President. Which is something shared by a lot of people.

In Biden, you have a candidate who cannot be reasonably assumed to actually hold the job for four years. Whoever he picks as his Vice President has to show some real tangible proof that they could be President. Usually this pick is not as important as people make it to be. It's usually done with an eye on a particular state or two. But in this election it may actually be seen as important. Is Amy Klobuchar serious enough for that burden?

The Preexisting Condition in the Oval Office
April 12, 2020 at 9:15 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

David Remick: “The pandemic is an event in the natural history of our species, but it is also a political episode. Its trajectory is shaped by policy measures specific to particular governments. The fact that the United States is experiencing tremendous losses—that it has far more COVID-19 cases than any other country in the world—relates to a number of collective risk factors and preexisting conditions. The most notable one is to be found in the Oval Office…

“The coronavirus has inflicted a level of pain that is deep and global. And yet many nations, from South Korea to Germany, have done far better at responding to it than the United States has. The reasons for the American failing include
a lack of preparation,
delayed mobilization,
insufficient testing,
and a reluctance to halt travel.
The Administration, from its start,
has waged war on science and expertise
and on what Trump’s former adviser Steve Bannon called ‘the administrative state.’
The results are all around us.
Trump has made sure that a great nation is peculiarly vulnerable to a foreseeable public-health calamity.”

Fauci Confirms Trump Rebuffed Social Distancing Advice
April 12, 2020 at 8:10 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 128 Comments

“Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared to confirm a bombshell New York Times report which said he and other Trump administration officials recommended the implementation of physical distancing to combat the coronavirus in February, but were rebuffed for almost a month,” The Guardian reports.

Said Fauci: “You know… as I have said many times, we look at it from a pure health standpoint. We make a recommendation. Often, the recommendation is taken. Sometimes, it’s not… It is what it is. We are where we are right now.”

As you have continually claimed Trump does.

But ---"TIME TO FIRE FAUCI!"

klobuchar has an interesting political calculation to make -

i agree that biden doesn't finish out one term due to his rapid cognitive decline, but i'm left to wonder if a loss on biden's ticket doesn't inflict a high degree of harm to her long term political prospects.

i'm of the opinion that the DNC has pretty much conceded 2020, leaving biden to be the sacrificial lamb. klobuchar strikes me as smart enough to know this. whitmer otoh is an imbecile, and would leap at the chance to lose with gropey joe.

And I want a President who pays attention to experts.

as those EXPERTS offer models that EXPERTLY predict deaths anywhere between 60,000 and 2.2 MILLION.

EXPERTS. TOP MEN.

all walking back or revising downward their original EXPERT analysis.

the same EXPERTS who gave us a one size fits all, we're all NYC, HO-LEE FUCKING SHIT, "we need 30,000 ventilators!!!" EXPERT predictions.

EXPERTS.

heh.

rat, you are UNDERMINING Ch's claim that Trump was very good at listening to his top epidemiological experts.

I mean, I'm not quite sure how that fits in with FIRE FAUCI, but that has been Ch's claim for several days.

May Day
April 13, 2020 at 9:26 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

NBC News:
“With his hoped-for Easter timeline having come and gone, President Trump now appears more determined than he has ever been to open up the economy with a ‘big bang’ early next month.”

Said a senior administration official: “I think we are all expecting or planning for May 1."
______________

If Trump is not careful to listen to his experts,
that could turn in a REAL "MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY!"

no pederast, i'm not doing that at all.

fauci himself has clearly stated in multiple interviews that trump listened to him and other doctors very intently in every conversation they had.

trump very clearly ceded the medicine, the science, to the experts.

this is not in dispute except with asholes like you and the childish semantic games you like to play.

LEVIN: Welcome back. Dr. Fauci, let me ask you a question. You've been doing this a long time. Have you ever seen this big of a coordinated response by an administration to such a threat? A health threat?

FAUCI: Well, we've never had a threat like this and the coordinated response has been, there are a number of adjectives to describe it. Impressive, I think is one of them.

I mean, we're talking about all-hands on-deck is that I, as one of many people on a team, I'm not the only person, since the beginning that we even recognized what this was. I have been devoting almost full time on this -- almost full time.

I'm down at the White House virtually every day with the Taskforce. I'm connected by phone throughout the day and into the night and when I say night, I'm talking twelve, one, two in the morning. I'm not the only one. There's a whole group of us that are doing that. It's every single day.

So I can't imagine that that under any circumstances that anybody could be doing more. I mean, obviously, we're fighting a formidable enemy -- this virus. This virus is a serious issue here.

ah yes, experts.

still seeking a death toll between 1 and 2.2 MILLION.

we call them experts.

experts trump must heed.

sure.

i mean, all we have to do to achieve cloward-piven utopia is to keep the economy shut down until we get 25-30% unemployment and a complete cratering of the economy. this is according to the experts who are still on a mission to destroy trump.

It's a delicate, difficult balance, as Trump himself admits.
Trouble is, he's not very good at delicate, difficult balances. Everything is simple with him, and that is one of his major failings.

I agree with Fn'Daddy that equal treatment does not exist with much of the media--especially the right wing media--
because I think that porn star Stormy Daniels was telling the truth, and the details she provided present more convincing evidence against Trump than has ever been presented against Biden.

Fauci has been talking about the concept of social distancing (which has been evolving) for some time. Back in the day, the idea was to wash your hands, not touch your face, isolate yourself if you felt sick, and be extra careful around people who were susceptible.

The idea of shutting down the entire economy was not being discussed by much of anyone back in February...

Nor do I believe that Fauci was suggesting (yesterday) that they were calling for it in February.

As Fauci explained... these things are more "complicated" than just a simple medical opinion. When Fauci suggested there was "push back" it likely came from other members of the task force and ultimately everyone probably agreed as a consensus that drastic measures would not be even possible to explain or roll out to the general public...

for a virus that was barely active here and had not killed nobody outside of China at that time.
