So what is happening in New York and New Jersey?

Why does New York and New Jersey seem so out of sync with the rest of America?

Let's review some of the data:

  • New York and New Jersey make up 9% of the overall population.
  • New York and New Jersey make up 20% of the overall testing.
  • New York and New Jersey account for 44% of the overall positive test.
  • New York and New Jersey account for  50% of the overall deaths.
  • 42% of the Covid-19 testing comes back positive in New York & New Jersey.
  • 14% of the Covid-19 testing comes back positive from the other 48 states.
  • The amount of people who die after a positive test is 30% higher in New York and New Jersey as it is in the other 48 states.

So what exactly accounts for this?

Why do three times more people who walk into the hospital with Covid-19 symptoms test positive for Covid-19 in the greater New York metropolitan area than people who walk into hospitals in other parts of the country? Why do considerably more people who test positive die in New York and New Jersey than in any other part of the country? Why do they have so few negative tests compared to everywhere else?

There doesn't appear to be an obvious intuitive answer. Perhaps more New Yorkers with mild symptoms are choosing not to be tested and that accounts for fewer negatives? Perhaps there really is a health care crisis that doesn't show up in the number of ICU units or the number of ventilators.

But rather than our media spending time focusing on these types of relevant questions, our so called journalist are busy asking why Trump didn't warn the world back in January that the Covid-19 crisis was coming or desperately trying to create a relative soap opera type atmosphere about who likes who and who is mad at who in the greater task force community...

The responsibility for not earlier warning the United States and the world of the severity of the outbreak must be borne by many of us experts. Trump is not alone to blame.

If only democrats hadn't spend January putting the country through impeachment. More people could've been focusing on the virus and the false reporting of it from China and the WHO.

BREAKING
Fauci Warns Protesters Their Efforts Will Backfire
April 20, 2020 at 10:33 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

In an ABC News interview, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned those protesting stay-at-home orders that their efforts would backfire.

Said Fauci:
“If you jump the gun, and go into a situation where you have a big spike, you’re going to set yourself back. So as painful as it is to go by the careful guidelines of gradually phasing into a reopening — it’s going to backfire. That’s the problem.”

Really an embarrassing turn from Biden.

He went from calling the China travel restrictions “hysterical,” “xenophobic,” “fear-mongering” in January to now attacking the President for not blocking *more* people from China.

An entire campaign of Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

I hope the government can produce enough IQ tests in time to know who to listen to about the #coronavirus pandemic. I realize there's a risk of getting a lot of false-positives from pundits, but I think we can calibrate for that.

Fauci also said "The Emphasis We've Been Hearing Is Essentially Testing Is Everything, And It Isn't"

Fauci understand that it's impossible to test everybody and people are suffering from the lockdown now.

But James knows this.

and as soon as you test someone and they leave the test site they could immediately be infected by their next contact

I hope the federal government, working with state governors and governments and state labs and private industries, can produce enough reliable covid-19 testing kits to enable us to better determine when, where, and how far we can safely go in relaxing stay at home and social distancing policies intended to prevent unnecessary deaths.

Dr. Fauci seems in agreement with me and all other rational people on that.

The dems whole playbook is to stretch this out as long as possible, hoping it hurts Trump and ignoring the hurt to the American people.

Same playbook they used for Russia, Kavanaugh, impeachment etc. It's always we need 2 more weeks... then 2 more weeks, rinse and repeat.

And wait for something else to wait 2 more weeks for... endlessly.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Friday at the White House that there were more than enough coronavirus tests available for states to begin phase one of reopening the country. “If these things are done correctly, which I believe they can, we will have and there will be enough tests to allow us to take this country safely through phase one,” Fauci said.

Fauci: "...enough tests to begin phase one..."

Phase one.

THE HILL

The White House on Friday said that states have enough coronavirus tests to be able to enter the first phase of its plan for reopening the economy.

The statement comes as the administration is facing pressure to increase the testing capacity.

But officials, including administration health experts, sought to push back on the alarm and express confidence in the testing capabilities, at least for the first phase of reopening.

"Our best scientists and health experts assess that states today have enough tests to implement the criteria of phase one if they choose to do so," Vice President Pence told reporters at a news briefing Friday.

Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, gave some backup to Pence's argument.

He acknowledged a "problem" with the initial rollout of the tests, but said problems are being fixed.

"Many of those have been already corrected and other[s] of those will be corrected," Fauci said Friday. "We will have and there will be enough tests to allow us to take this country through phase one."

JAMES ASKS, AND WHAT IS PHASE ONE?
The article continues:

Phase one of the government's reopening plan would still call on "vulnerable individuals" to shelter in place, and for people to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people unless they can socially distance. Bars would remain closed, though gyms could open with proper procedures.

Notice that nothing is said of reopening beaches to vast numbers of crowded people.

I think general population would be shocked if they found out COVID-19 mitigation strategies states are executing are based on vague hypotheses & total guesswork. No particular data to back up:

1) 6ft soc distance
2) Healthy quarantine
3) Outdoor mask enforcement
Among others

Ever been to gym James? You are practically side by side working out.

So if you could open a gym with proper procedures than why not a beach or park. If fact I don't believe there is any mention of beaches and parks in all three phases of the guidance.

Probably because it already assumes they are open or it is the assume the governors will have the great good sense to open them up on their own.

That can be a mistaken assumption as Whitmire has proved.

On some beaches people seemed to be practicing sensible social distancing. On some, not at all; they were packed tightly together.
