The future of elections?

Tuesday’s Wisconsin Election Is Our Future
Chaos. A public health disaster. And partisan trench warfare, too.
Normally, there are around 180 polling places in the city of Milwaukee, serving roughly 300,000 registered voters. Unless there is a drastic, last minute change in plans for Tuesday’s pandemic election in Wisconsin, there will be only five polling locations in the entire city.
Although hardest hit, Milwaukee is not alone. In more than 100 municipalities throughout the state, there will not be a single polling location open, as thousands of poll workers will follow the state’s stay-at-home order.
Well barring any unseen turns of fortune is will not be the case that we will have to be doing a virtual election with mail in ballots. Moreover, there is literally no chance that the Senate would pass such a national change, nor would the President sign anything like that into law. But of course, that doesn't mean that some people will not try.
Politico reports that Republican opposition to mail-in balloting is so adamant that the issue “may be a sticking point to any relief package as the U.S. faces mass unemployment and a plummeting economy.”
Perhaps it will be a sticking point. But not if it isn't included in a relief package. I think people inherently understand that stimulus or relief packages are just that and that bill and laws that change how our elections work are completely separate. Democrats trying to shove election changes into a stimulus bill will be met no differently than it was when Pelosi tried it the first time. I am not sure why you would blame "Republican opposition" for a hold up of another stimulus bill if election changes were added into it. I would blame Democratic manipulation for even attempting it.

The reality is that if there is still some sort of pandemic in place when November comes, we are not going to be prepared for some grand short term upheaval to our election process. While there are some constitutional loopholes that some people believe Congress can exploit to nationalize elections, that attempt would be fought tooth and nail by any state that wanted to keep their independence and authority over their own election laws. That would even assume that something could get through the Senate and be passed by the President.
If that happens, we will have three options: Hold the election in distressed circumstances that may or may not result in chaos. Postpone the election, which would certainly create chaos. Reform the system now so that there is a more stable way to hold the vote should another outbreak take hold. If this week’s Wisconsin dry-run is any indication, then the best option is reform. And we ought to have started working on it five minutes ago. But of course, even that isn’t as easy as it sounds.
It's not only not easy, it's generally impossible. Starting to work on it five minutes ago is not our pressing concern at this stage of the Covid-19 crisis. I promise you that if this had happened eight years ago or if we had a President Hillary today, that the left would be singing a much different tune, likely talking about the safety of the electorate and paving the way for some sort of delay that would last until we had no more outbreak of any sort. But the concept of doing the most plausible thing of postponement is unthinkable as long as the "bad orange man" is place.

Either way, a strategy that allows for Democrats to nationalize elections is ultimately the sort of thing that the classic "no tragedy should go to waste" thinking would create. But at this point in time, it's little more than a liberal pipe dream.

Be proud Lil Schitty.....this is what trump has done to ruin the country!!!!!! BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

anonymous said...

The other day, Lil Schitty posted all the stuff that he claims were provided to states and Hospitals.....Seems to me, it is another giant trump fail as the HHS has published a report with these key findings....

Severe Shortages of Testing Supplies and Extended Waits for Results
Hospitals reported that severe shortages of testing supplies and extended waits for test results limited hospitals’ ability to monitor the health of patients and staff. Hospitals reported that they were unable to keep up with COVID-19 testing demands because they lacked complete kits and/or the individual components and supplies needed to complete tests. Additionally, hospitals reported frequently waiting 7 days or longer for test results. When patient stays were extended while awaiting test results, this strained bed availability, personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies, and staffing.
Widespread Shortages of PPE
Hospitals reported that widespread shortages of PPE put staff and patients at risk. Hospitals reported that heavier use of PPE than normal was contributing to the shortage and that the lack of a robust supply chain was delaying or preventing them from restocking PPE needed to protect staff. Hospitals also expressed uncertainty about availability of PPE from Federal and State sources and noted sharp increases in prices for PPE from some vendors.

Washington (CNN) - Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly resigned on Tuesday, a day after leaked audio revealed he called the ousted commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt "stupid" in an address to the ship's crew.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper said in a letter that he accepted Modly's resignation Tuesday morning, confirming CNN's earlier reporting that Modly had resigned.

Trump ‘Obsessed’ with Coverage of Pandemic Response
April 7, 2020 at 2:55 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

ABC News White House correspondent Jon Karl, who was called a “third-rate reporter” by President Trump yesterday, told The View that the president was picking fights with reporters to avoid responsibility for his poor response to the coronavoirus pandemic.

Said Karl:
“Well, it has happened with alarming consistency. At virtually every one of these briefings, there is a moment where he lashes out in very personal terms at a reporter.

"I have to say, I hear that he is spending a good chunk of each day complaining to his top advisers about the way his response to this crisis is being portrayed in the news media. He truly cares about this and is, to a degree, obsessed about it.”

More fake news trump can deny!!!!!!

As far r back as late November, U.S. intelligence officials were warning that a contagion was sweeping through China’s Wuhan region, changing the patterns of life and business and posing a threat to the population, according to four sources briefed on the secret reporting.

Concerns about what is now known to be the novel coronavirus pandemic were detailed in a November intelligence report by the military's National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI), according to two officials familiar with the document’s contents.

The report was the result of analysis of wire and computer intercepts, coupled with satellite images. It raised alarms because an out-of-control disease would pose a serious threat to U.S. forces in Asia -- forces that depend on the NCMI’s work. And it paints a picture of an American government that could have ramped up mitigation and containment efforts far earlier to prepare for a crisis poised to come home.

"Analysts concluded it could be a cataclysmic event," one of the sources said of the NCMI’s report. "It was then briefed multiple times to" the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s Joint Staff and the White House.

MORE: CDC director downplays coronavirus models, says death toll will be 'much lower' than projected

From that warning in November, the sources described repeated briefings through December for policy-makers and decision-makers across the federal government as well as the National Security Council at the White House. All of that culminated with a detailed explanation of the problem that appeared in the President’s Daily Brief of intelligence matters in early January, the sources said. For something to have appeared in the PDB, it would have had to go through weeks of vetting and analysis, according to people who have worked on presidential briefings in both Republican and Democratic administrations.

Biggest science news of the day!!!!!! Wonder if our holy rollers trump slurpers here will practice this on donnie!!!!!! BWAAAAAAPAAAAAA!!!!!!

d the full article.

It’s a valid question many of us have asked ourselves while getting intimate with our S.O.: Is swallowing worth it? And then the follow-up question is virtually almost always: But what are the health benefits of semen?

Now, you’ve probably already heard that semen is packed with protein. But it turns out the health benefits of consuming semen go far beyond that.

If it doesn’t totally gross you out and you’re up for it, here are the six health benefits of semen.

Semen is a natural anti-depressant

I know sex in general can put a smile back on my face, but I never thought it had anything to do with semen. According to a study conducted on 293 female college students at the State University of New York in Albany, exposure to semen can lower symptoms of depression. The study compared female students who were having sex with condoms versus those who were having sex without, and found that the latter group overall showed fewer signs of depression.

According to the study’s author, “These data are consistent with the possibility that semen may antagonize depressive symptoms, and evidence which shows that the vagina absorbs a number of components of semen that can be detected in the bloodstream within a few hours of administration.” Basically, women absorb semen quickly, and thus its benefits can be easily detected in the bloodstream.

The Democrats have no desire to re-start the US Economy.

indeed. and the reason is simple -

this is as close as they have ever gotten to their dream of a complete cloward-piven collapse. the left's rationale is that if they can completely crater this economy into some sort of a point of no return, then we become venezuela, all of the right people are 'in charge,' and the road to serfdom is short and straight, with the distribution of misery as their utopian goal.

this goal, like the left itself, is evil.

USS Theodore Roosevelt arrives in Vietnam, becoming second US carrier to visit since the 1970s

By WYATT OLSON | STARS AND STRIPES
Published: March 4, 2020

The USS Theodore Roosevelt arrived Thursday in Vietnam, becoming only the second U.S. aircraft carrier to make a port call there since the fall of Saigon in 1975.

The carrier, accompanied by the guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill, steamed into Danang, where they were met by Vietnamese and U.S. government and military officials, according to a 7th Fleet news release. Waiting to greet the vessels were Adm. John C. Aquilino, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, and U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink.

The port call by the Roosevelt and its strike group, a total of 6,500 military personnel, marks 25 years since the two former foes normalized their diplomatic relations.

Adm. Phil Davidson, commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, announced Tuesday that the Roosevelt would stop in Vietnam.

“It’s true. We do have TR pulling into Danang this week,” he said in response to a reporter’s question during 2020 West, a naval conference in San Diego.

The BBC’s Vietnamese language online news site reported that the Roosevelt would stay in port five days. The strike group crew is expected to take part in community service projects, sports competitions and other events, according to 7th Fleet.

“This visit will not only serve to strengthen our bilateral defense relationship, but also help further advance our cultural and professional ties,” said Capt. Brett Crozier, the Roosevelt’s commanding officer, according to the 7th Fleet.
