Everyone from Charlamagne tha God, to Herschel Walker, to Tim Scott has denounced the Biden comment as pretty much a sick stupid thing to say. Meanwhile the NAACP pushed back on Biden's claim that they endorse his Candidacy, and it got so bad that his own campaign had to issue a statement that tried to push it off as a "joke".
Now, quite obviously even those Democrats who already have half their head up Biden's ass would deny that it's even plausible that the former Vice President was "joking". Like suggesting he said he would "be" Joe Biden instead of what he actually said, the lie is no better than the truth. It's probably just as bad to say you were joking about something like that to have actually meant it.
Meanwhile, if your Amy Klobuchar or another "white" woman who is being vetted for a possible V.P. spot on the ticket, you can sort of just hang it up. This degree of stupidity requires that Biden choose a black running mate, even though it will appear to be obvious pandering and probably will not help him with much of anyone. But picking a white woman at this point would run salt in the wound.
Right now, Kamala "kneepad" Harris looks to be the overwhelming favorite. Even Biden is not dumb enough to pick Stacy Abrams.
