(Covid-19 death certificates make up for more than the higher percentages reported)

Apparently not enough people have died from Covid-19 for liberals, naysayers, and stay at homers to be satisfied. So the latest ploy by the left is go ahead and spin the numbers even more to come up with some more satisfactory numbers. Many different sources have gone out on the rampage to "prove" that there are way more Covid-19 deaths than are being reported. The logic for this is that we have a much larger amount of people dying over the past few weeks than can be explained by Covid-19 deaths.
In the simplest terms, the argument is that while we normally could have expected 100,000 deaths over XX time period, we have actually experienced 120,000 deaths. But since we only had 15,000 Covid-19 deaths reported, the other 5,000 are unaccounted for. The logic implies that those other 5,000 deaths should be (without any actual evidence) attributed to Covid-19.
I don't like the logic for a variety of reasons, but that doesn't matter, because the numbers simply do not bear this out. According to the official death certificate numbers from the CDC, there are more Covid-19 reported deaths than would be necessary to account for the larger percentage of deaths for this time of year. Even if these numbers grow (and they will as death certificates come in) there is no reason to believe that this analysis will change (as it is so far been incredibly consistent statistically).

In other words, according to the official one place tracks everything CDC death certificate numbers, if it wasn't for Covid-19 deaths, we would have continued having a lower than average death count in 2020. According to these official death certificate numbers, there are no "extra" deaths being unaccounted for.
In fact we would have less than normal expected deaths. A more realistic argument would be that there are more "reported" Covid-19 deaths than statistically makes sense. By that logic, it could be argued that people who would have otherwise died of another cause are being lumped in as Covid-19 and thus over-inflating the numbers.
So where or how are these other people garnering such statistics saying otherwise? Well generally speaking they are using reported numbers from over there with official numbers from another source, and generally hodge-podging together a statistical analysis that draws the conclusion that they were seeking to prove in the first place.
It will be some time before all of these numbers are 100% up to date and complete. Perhaps things will change somewhat in the official death certificate count to back up some of these other statistical analysis... but it certainly seems very unlikely at this point.
In the meantime "conventional wisdom" (aka political talking points rhetoric) will continue to be that there are "extra" deaths and that Covid-19 is being under counted. You will hear blue state Governors and liberals talk about it to justify their positions. But make no mistake, conventional wisdom (at this point) is little more than bad analysis being used as political fodder.

One funeral director talked about a family who is related to an unnamed Supreme Court Justice who insisted on a private autopsy that discovered their relative did not have COVID-19. “I had one that was autopsied because the sister was famous, and apparently, and I don’t know who the Supreme Court Justice is, but the Supreme Court Justice was related to this family, and she says I know my sister didn’t die of COVID-19,” said Josephine Dimiceli of Dimiceli & Sons Funeral Home. “She said she had Alzheimer’s and they didn’t suction her. You have to suction because they forget how to swallow. And right away they put down COVID-19 on her death certificate, and the Supreme Court justice, whoever it is, contacted the hospital. They did an independent autopsy; bingo. No COVID-19.”
