Traffic being blocked off in Massachusetts for Presidential motorcade |
We all have a constitutional right to drive down 494 to get home from work or drop someone of at the airport, but sometimes there are circumstances where executive security takes precedent. It's a pain in the you know what, and if you were the one who missed a flight you might deem it to be entirely unfair. But it happens.
The reality is that there is nothing unusual about the secret service working with local law enforcement to clear areas if they know that the President (or any number of people) are going to be attending and event or otherwise passing through an area. This would be especially true if there was any cause to believe that a particular crowd might be hostile or dangerous to the President. This is actually why there is a secret service and why local law enforcement will work with them. The safety of the President (whether he be Obama or Trump) is what the Secret Service is responsible for.
Just like we all have a constitutional right to drive down 494, we all have a constitutional right to protest. But what we don't have is a constitutional right to argue with the secret service or local law enforcement if they are temporarily blocking off or clearing an area because the Commander in Chief will be there or needs to pass through.
To be clear, there is nothing unconstitutional (or even unusual) about the Secret Service protecting a President or a President wanting to go to a particular church... even if you want to demand that it was all for a photo-op. I am not quite sure how this logical pretzel even started, other than to suggest that it's just another example of how Trump Derangement Syndrome turns liberal minds into mush and takes away any cognitive thought.

One time I was driving near the airport and traffic started quickly backing up. The presidential motorcade of Bush41 was on it's way. Traffic was halted until they went through into the airport and his plane was in the air. About 15 minutes or so.
Any of you assholes know what they do to airports when AF 1 is scheduled??????

“When the U.S. government’s official jobs report for May came out on Friday, it included a note at the bottom saying there had been a major ‘error’ indicating that the unemployment rate likely should be higher than the widely reported 13.3 percent rate.
"The special note said that if this ‘misclassification error’ had not occurred, the ‘overall unemployment rate would have been about 3 percentage points higher than reported,’ meaning the unemployment rate would be about 16.3 percent for May, but that would still be an improvement from an unemployment rate of more than 19 percent for April, applying the same standards.”

“Recent surveys show Democrat Joe Biden has pulled further ahead in the industrial Midwestern states that Trump won in 2016, as the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting job losses prompted a precipitous slide in his support.
“As things stand now, Biden could not only regain Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, he could take several states once steadfastly Republican: Arizona, Ohio, North Carolina and Texas.”

Regular readers of this blog know the constant spamming, lying and obsession for that left-wing Taegan Goddard blog by a certain poster. That poster james, also called the "pastor" (which he claims to be even if you can't tell by his actions) is the POS responsible and considers his mindless rude behavior his hobby. Sometimes he credits Taegan Goddard, sometimes he doesn't.
He has descended so far into TDS and desperation he fills every discussion thread with what people have described as an avalanche of spam. If this is being posted today is no different. He even gets his edited news from that site and spams that if he thinks it will hurt Trump. Every day he repeats what that site posts, regardless of topic. It gets so bad he feels the need to even repeat his spam multiple times in a single thread as well as posting in every active thread the very same spam.
He has exhibited the same mental deterioration as Joe Biden and his postings should be given the same consideration. Both their heads will probably explode when it becomes obvious that Trump will win a second term. Biden will not even notice his head did.

I read the bls note. WaPo tweaked it a little. It said many workers on temporary furlough were still counted as employed. And that if they had been classified as unemployed, the rate would've been 16.3. Key word in all that is IF.
I myself am furloughed next week. But I'm still employed.

When the U.S. government’s official jobs report for May came out on Friday, it included a note at the bottom saying there had been a major “error” indicating that the unemployment rate likely should be higher than the widely reported 13.3 percent rate.
The special note said that if this “misclassification error” had not occurred, the “overall unemployment rate would have been about 3 percentage points higher than reported,” meaning the unemployment rate would be about 16.3 percent for May.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the agency that puts out the monthly jobs reports, said it was working to fix the problem.
“BLS and the Census Bureau are investigating why this misclassification error continues to occur and are taking additional steps to address the issue,” said a note at the bottom of the Bureau of Labor Statistics report.
Some took this as a sign that President Trump or one of his staffers may have tinkered with the data to make it look better, especially since most forecasters predicted the unemployment rate would be close to 20 percent in May, up from 14.7 percent in April. But economists and former BLS leaders from across the political spectrum strongly dismissed that idea.
“You can 100% discount the possibility that Trump got to the BLS. Not 98% discount, not 99.9% discount, but 100% discount,” tweeted Jason Furman, the former top economist for former president Barack Obama. “BLS has 2,400 career staff of enormous integrity and one political appointee with no scope to change this number.”
Economists say the BLS was trying to be as transparent as possible about how hard it is to collect real-time data during a pandemic. The BLS admitted that some people who should have been classified as “temporarily unemployed” during the shutdown were instead misclassified as employed but “absent” from work for “other reasons.”
The “other reason” category is normally used for people on vacation, serving jury duty or taking leave to care for a child or relative. These are typically situations where the worker decides to take leave. But in this unusual pandemic circumstance, the “other reason” category was applied to some people staying at home and waiting to be called back.
This problem started in March when there was a big jump in people claiming they were temporarily “absent” from work for “other reasons.” The BLS noticed this and flagged it right away. In March, the BLS said the unemployment rate likely should have been 5.4 percent, instead of the official 4.4 percent rate. In April, the BLS said the real unemployment rate was likely about 19.7 percent, not 14.7 percent.
Economists said the big takeaway is that it’s hard to collect real-time data during a pandemic and that while the unemployment rate remains high — likely more than 16 percent — it has declined a little from April.

Strange that Mattis and other military officials both past and present saw this so very differently than you,

Is that what you are saying Reverend?

Even buffalo mayor Byron Brown, a black man, called the old man an agitator. The officers have pleaded not guilty. Conviction far from certain.
Nearly three-fourths of Americans view the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer as a sign of an underlying racial injustice problem, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds, a significant shift from a similar question asked just six years ago.
This poll shows a more than 30-point increase in the belief that recent events reflect a broader issue over racial injustice from an ABC News/Washington Post poll from December 2014, four months after the shooting of Michael Brown, an 18-year black man, by a white cop, and five months after the death of Eric Garner, a black man, who died after being put in a chokehold by a white officer. In the 2014 poll, 43% of Americans said those instances showed signs of a broader problem, while 51% called it an isolated incident.
In the new ABC News/Ipsos poll, which was conducted by Ipsos in partnership with ABC News using Ipsos’ Knowledge Panel, only 26% believe the incident is an isolated one.

If the people who have been demonstrating actually get out and vote in massive numbers, Trump will be defecated by a significant percentage.
The trick is, is to get them out and vote Democratic across the board.
Trump's new wall around the White House is not a sign of a confident President. Hiding in the bunker was another sign of anger and frustration with the people who dare to disagree with him.

TALL, BLACK FENCING IS going up around the White House and the surrounding areas, creating an unusually wide perimeter that has transformed the executive mansion into a heavily fortified complex – a visual representation of President Donald Trump's push for a dominant, militarized response to protests happening in Washington and around the country over the death of George Floyd.
Once completed, the fencing will completely cordon off President's Park, the grounds around the White House that the National Park Service calls an "iconic place for civil discourse." The closures extend about a half a mile south from the White House, across the grassy park known as the Ellipse where the national Christmas Tree stands on display every winter.

"The FBI has found no evidence that the American militant anti-fascist movement Antifa was involved in the violence that erupted during national protests over the death of George Floyd."
MINNEAPOLIS — Two of the former police officers charged with aiding and abetting in the killing of George Floyd turned on the senior officer accused in the case, making for an extraordinary court appearance Thursday afternoon. A third officer was cooperating with authorities, a sign that the four fired officers would not be presenting a united front.
Facing 40 years in prison and a bail of at least $750,000, former officers Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng, both rookies, blamed Derek Chauvin, the senior officer at the scene and a training officer, their lawyers said in court. The lawyer for Tou Thao, another former officer charged in the case, said his client had cooperated with investigators before they arrested Chauvin.

Apparently it was not a floating of "100% false and wrong claims" for them to see and to say that American citizens peacefully protesting were suddenly and with no warning forcefully pushed back for no apparent reason.
Well people driving onto a highway are literally just minding their own business and unlike the current "protests/riots" are in no danger of jumping out of their cars and burning things down.
Yet, they are going to be stopped by local law enforcement (suddenly and with no warning often times) from getting into the path of a Presidential motorcade or blocked from an area (suddenly and without warning) that a President or other prominent figure might be occupying in the near future.
Apparently you must believe that the right to protest is more important than the right to drive down the freeway?
Because technically a protest or rally requires a permit (especially if it is happening in a public park or public area). So unless these protesters had a permit, they were technically still breaking the law (even if they have the right to peacefully assemble).
Do you support the President and his use of the active duty soldiers to make sure that freeway is open for traffic?
Do you support the President and his use of the active duty soldiers to make sure that freeway is open for traffic?
No President has used active duty soldiers to do any such thing, nor did Trump use any active duty soldiers to clear out the St John's church area.
The Park Police cleared the area at the request of secret service and others tasked to protect the President...
Just as they would have done for Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, or whoever happened to be President.
Apparently it was not a floating of "100% false and wrong claims" for them to see and to say that American citizens peacefully protesting were suddenly and with no warning forcefully pushed back for no apparent reason.
I was talking about what happened near the White House.
You must know that, yet you seek to divert and obfuscate by talking about motorcades on freeways, etc.
You constantly show yourself incapable of honest discussion, and yet you accuse me of lying.
So Rog...
are you saying now that Presidential motorcades that require parts of highways and streets to be blocked by local law enforcement... or crowd control conducted by local authorities in places where a President, Vice President or others will be at...
Something that has happened since we have have been alive...
is now unconstitutional?
Or is it just unconstitutional today because you don't like Trump?
You are avoiding the point.
He's been saying that the active military forces should be used against the free speech demonstrations.
The use of the Park Police to clear a path so he could have a photo OP is legal, but it is appropriate?
I was talking about what happened near the White House.
I know what you were talking about Reverend...
But Secret Service and local law enforcement always have worked together to make ANY area safe for a President. Whether that is a highway that is blocked off, or an street that where temporary barricades are set up, or a convention center that is guarded by police as things are set up....
or a group of protesters that are in the very place a President will be at.
What you are completely 100% failing to do is explain to me why there is a distinction between a President being protected driving down a highway or street, talking at a rally (where security will be air tight in the hours leading up to it)...
and a President who will be visiting a church??
What's the difference?
Why in this particular case do you take issue and demand that such normal every day protective actions that have happened 1000's of times in our lifetime all over the country for Presidents...
Is suddenly unconstitutional?
Please explain?

When I was working in the Los Angeles area, and President Obama was going to land at LAX, the traffic was were terrible.
As I said, those officers who moved against those peaceful protesters did not even try to get them to move back on their own. Nothing was said to them about doing that.
Suddenly they were being charged and pushed back, and what were all the smoke and pepper explosions about?
The use of the Park Police to clear a path so he could have a photo OP is legal, but it is appropriate?
No, Roger, the way it was performed against peacefully protesting citizens was, I think, neither legal nor appropriate.
As I said, those officers who moved against those peaceful protesters did not even try to get them to move back on their own. Nothing was said to them about doing that.
Well then I guess you should take that up with the D.C. Park Police, since clearing out that area is their responsibility. In fact, unless that crowd had a legal permit to be holding a rally or protest, then they probably shouldn't have been congregating like that in a national park area.
Perhaps you can explain why if this was a peaceful every day protest that was no different than any crowd that generally would congregate there... then why did the Park Police have to act differently?
You believe that the Park Police were just a bunch of assholes on this particular day and that the "peaceful protesters" would have just left nicely if they had been asked to?
Because that isn't the story being told by the Park Police.
those officers who moved against those peaceful protesters did not even try to get them to move back on their own. Nothing was said to them about doing that.
Why do you lie, so much?
The perimeter was expanded to help enforce the 7 p.m. curfew in the same area where rioters attempted to burn down one of our nation's most historic churches the night before. Protesters were given three warnings by the U.S. Park Police.

They don't need a legal permit to demonstrate and express their first amendment rights.
btw... The President had every right to go visit the church in question.
Just like any President has the right to fly into an airport and be driven to a hotel or event.
The fact that security surrounding these Presidential trips causes inconvenience for average everyday citizens who are generally otherwise minding their own businesses doesn't change the fact that Presidents are allowed to leave the White House.
The Reverend still hasn't explained why it was illegal for the Park Police to provide the same protection that 1000's of law enforcement people do all the time throughout out country?
He simply takes issue with "how" they did it... by naively pretending that these protesters were peaceful and willing to disperse because police asked them nicely.
They don't need a legal permit to demonstrate and express their first amendment rights.
Actually you do, Roger. Especially if you are going to do it on what constitutes a national park area.
"The perimeter was expanded to help enforce the city's 7 p.m. curfew in the same area where rioters attempted to burn down one of our nation's most historic churches the night before," Judd Deere, a White House deputy press secretary, said. "Protesters were given three warnings by the U.S. Park Police."
But most protesters were largely peaceful, and law enforcement began moving on them 15 minutes before the curfew even started, according to ABC News' Rachel Scott. Minutes earlier, Trump had declared himself an "ally" of peaceful protesters.
You lied again, pederast
Who to believe.
It was tear gas. It was not tear gas. Yes, it was. No, it wasn't. They were warned. They were not warned. They were violent. They were not violent.
The perimeter was expanded to help enforce the 7 p.m. curfew in the same area where rioters attempted to burn down one of our nation's most historic churches the night before. Protesters were given three warnings by the U.S. Park Police.
The fact that protesters just burned a portion of a historical church the night before is lost on the Reverend and old timer...
It says on political.wire that these were peaceful people (not like the ones just the day before who burned shit down)... and would have left peacefully had they been given a reasonable chance to.
Which of course, is completely 100% Contradicted by the other claims of people who demand that the Park Police had NO right to remove them (which suggests that there was resistance).
So we can all pretty much agree that the Park Police had every legal right to remove them (because they were in a place under National Park designation). So the question is whether or not all of the protesters were willing to cede that to the police or if.... just perhaps... at least some of them... said that they were not leaving or going anywhere.
Because the idea that this entire group of protesters (given the nature of these protests nationally and given the nature of the protests the night before in that area) would just leave...
requires some very serious cognitive dissonance.
So which is it Reverend?
1) Were they peaceful protesters who were not given a fair chance to leave peacefully.
2) The act of the Park Police asking this group of people to leave was unconstitutional and the peaceful protesters had every right to resist?
Because you really can't seem to make up your mind here?

Former Defense Secretary William Cohen on Friday called out President Donald Trump’s violent rhetoric about anti-racism protesters, warning the White House is “leading us down the trail toward a dictatorship.”
Cohen argued to CNN “Newsroom” host Jim Sciutto that Trump’s sharing of a letter that called protesters “terrorists” meant that “he has no understanding of what the rule of law really means in this country.”
“He has declared that he wants to be the ‘president of law and order,’ but that’s not what the declaration of this country is,” said Cohen, the GOP former senator for Maine who headed the Pentagon during Bill Clinton’s administration.
“If you go over to the Supreme Court, you see cut in stone, it is equal protection or equality under law, equality under law,” he explained. “So when he says law and order, he’s missing something. The word ‘justice’ has to be there, and that is what people of this country expect when they sign a contract with the U.S. government, that there will be laws, there will be justice, and so law and order.”

I really couldn't give a bigger rat's ass what happened. These protesters were likely not there legally (no permit). It was fifteen minutes before curfew (are you suggesting that they all lived within 15 minutes of this place) and it's extremely unlikely that they were just going to leave.

1) They were peaceful protesters who were not given fair warning to leave?
2) They should have been allowed to continue to protest past curfew and it was unconstitutional for the police to get involved?

A letter came back with the following boldfaced.
In Union There is Strength
I have watched this week’s unfolding events, angry and appalled. The words “Equal Justice Under Law” are carved in the pediment of the United States Supreme Court. This is precisely what protesters are rightly demanding. It is a wholesome and unifying demand—one that all of us should be able to get behind. We must not be distracted by a small number of lawbreakers. The protests are defined by tens of thousands of people of conscience who are insisting that we live up to our values—our values as people and our values as a nation.
When I joined the military, some 50 years ago, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. Never did I dream that troops taking that same oath would be ordered under any circumstance to violate the Constitutional rights of their fellow citizens—much less to provide a bizarre photo op for the elected commander-in-chief, with military leadership standing alongside.
We must reject any thinking of our cities as a “battlespace” that our uniformed military is called upon to “dominate.” At home, we should use our military only when requested to do so, on very rare occasions, by state governors. Militarizing our response, as we witnessed in Washington, D.C., sets up a conflict—a false conflict—between the military and civilian society. It erodes the moral ground that ensures a trusted bond between men and women in uniform and the society they are sworn to protect, and of which they themselves are a part. Keeping public order rests with civilian state and local leaders who best understand their communities and are answerable to them.
James Madison wrote in Federalist 14 that “America united with a handful of troops, or without a single soldier, exhibits a more forbidding posture to foreign ambition than America disunited, with a hundred thousand veterans ready for combat.” We do not need to militarize our response to protests. We need to unite around a common purpose. And it starts by guaranteeing that all of us are equal before the law.
Instructions given by the military departments to our troops before the Normandy invasion reminded soldiers that “The Nazi slogan for destroying us…was ‘Divide and Conquer.’ Our American answer is ‘In Union there is Strength.’” We must summon that unity to surmount this crisis—confident that we are better than our politics.
Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us. We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.
We can come through this trying time stronger, and with a renewed sense of purpose and respect for one another. The pandemic has shown us that it is not only our troops who are willing to offer the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of the community. Americans in hospitals, grocery stores, post offices, and elsewhere have put their lives on the line in order to serve their fellow citizens and their country.
We know that we are better than the abuse of executive authority that we witnessed in Lafayette Park. We must reject and hold accountable those in office who would make a mockery of our Constitution. At the same time, we must remember Lincoln’s “better angels,” and listen to them, as we work to unite.
Only by adopting a new path—which means, in truth, returning to the original path of our founding ideals—will we again be a country admired and respected at home and abroad.
James Mattis
________
I'm sure you'll complain that he did not sufficiently address the questions you raised. I think, however, he addressed some more important ones.
Police used smoke bombs and pepper balls to clear peaceful protesters out of Lafayette Square on Monday, sparking outrage
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany claimed Bill Barr told law enforcement to take action to push back the perimeter
Video footage from Monday also shows Barr talking with police about 20 minutes before protesters were forcefully cleared out
However, Barr told The Associated Press Friday that officers were already getting ready to push back demonstrators and he gave no orders
'I'm not involved in giving tactical commands like that,' Barr insisted.
So Reverend...
How many times are you going to avoid the question and by proxy admit that you have no good answer?
1) They were peaceful protesters who were not given fair warning to leave?
2) They should have been allowed to continue to protest past curfew and it was unconstitutional for the police to get involved?
because you can't seem to make up your mind as to which irrational answer is what you are arguing?
Sorry if I am asking something over your head, Reverend.
It seems simple enough to me, but not to you apparently.
You claim to have some sort of education, but you rarely display any ability to think for yourself.... obviously an irrelevant letter is a classic example of this.
And no... someone misinformed enough to confuse Park police for "troops" will not warrant my attention.
If I were you, I would ask for my money back from whatever college provided you with a degree. It obviously diluted your ability for critical thinking.
Ch, I am going to ask you to read over what you call Mattis' "irrelevant" letter above, and also consider what Esper had to say about this matter.
And then I will have a question to ask you.
I'm sure your answer will be far more intelligent than anything I could say or ask.
You might want to carefully consider this before I ask you my question.

Isn't it sad James, how the mighty Lil Schitty has fallen in his defense of the moron in the WH!!!! When park police dress in camo and carry military grade weapons.....what I really ask is what the fuck is going on sending these untrained park rangers to quell peoples right to assemble.....they look like troops, act like troops they sure can be troops you dumb fucking idiot!!!!
The removal of the protesters was conducted by the Park Police long before the curfew.
It was not coincidental that the President wanted to have a photo op.
They were not violent.
America is not a ‘battle space,’ former Defense Secretary William J. Perry said in a statement. “And the people he threatens to dominate are American citizens, not enemy combatants.

Isn't it amazing how Lil Schitty fawned all over Mattis when he was in trumps good graces then turned on him the nanosecond trump calls Mattis the worst general evah!!!! Seems to me Lil Schitty has lost his ability to see the truth and cannot think on his own any more...A high sign of senility and loss of his mind!!!!!
Who ways I was "ever" a fan of Mattis?
Anyone who confuses the US Park Police for Troops...
has obviously lost their shit. When they use that as an argument to show how troops shouldn't be used (when they weren't) is completely irrelevant to the conversation.
He should ride into a sunset and join old Rog in the lock down dementia unit of a nursing home.

___________
I Cannot Remain Silent
Our fellow citizens are not the enemy, and must never become so.
Admiral Mike Mullen
Seventeenth chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
It sickened me yesterday to see security personnel—including members of the National Guard—forcibly and violently clear a path through Lafayette Square to accommodate the president's visit outside St. John's Church. I have to date been reticent to speak out on issues surrounding President Trump's leadership, but we are at an inflection point, and the events of the past few weeks have made it impossible to remain silent.
Whatever Trump's goal in conducting his visit, he laid bare his disdain for the rights of peaceful protest in this country, gave succor to the leaders of other countries who take comfort in our domestic strife, and risked further politicizing the men and women of our armed forces.
There was little good in the stunt.
While no one should ever condone the violence, vandalism, and looting that has exploded across our city streets, neither should anyone lose sight of the larger and deeper concerns about institutional racism that have ignited this rage.
As a white man, I cannot claim perfect understanding of the fear and anger that African Americans feel today. But as someone who has been around for a while, I know enough—and I’ve seen enough—to understand that those feelings are real and that they are all too painfully founded.
We must, as citizens, address head-on the issue of police brutality and sustained injustices against the African American community. We must, as citizens, support and defend the right—indeed, the solemn obligation—to peacefully assemble and to be heard. These are not mutually exclusive pursuits.
And neither of these pursuits will be made easier or safer by an overly aggressive use of our military, active duty or National Guard. The United States has a long and, to be fair, sometimes troubled history of using the armed forces to enforce domestic laws. The issue for us today is not whether this authority exists, but whether it will be wisely administered.
I remain confident in the professionalism of our men and women in uniform. They will serve with skill and with compassion. They will obey lawful orders. But I am less confident in the soundness of the orders they will be given by this commander in chief, and I am not convinced that the conditions on our streets, as bad as they are, have risen to the level that justifies a heavy reliance on military troops. Certainly, we have not crossed the threshold that would make it appropriate to invoke the provisions of the Insurrection Act.
Furthermore, I am deeply worried that as they execute their orders, the members of our military will be co-opted for political purposes.
Even in the midst of the carnage we are witnessing, we must endeavor to see American cities and towns as our homes and our neighborhoods. They are not “battle spaces” to be dominated, and must never become so.
We must ensure that African Americans—indeed, all Americans—are given the same rights under the Constitution, the same justice under the law, and the same consideration we give to members of our own family. Our fellow citizens are not the enemy, and must never become so.
Too many foreign and domestic policy choices have become militarized; too many military missions have become politicized.
This is not the time for stunts. This is the time for leadership.

_________
Former White House Chief of Staff John Kellyin an interview ...suggested Trump’s behavior in office proves Americans have to be more rigorous about whom they choose as their president.
“I think we need to look harder at who we elect,” he said. “I think we should look at people that are running for office and put them through the filter: What is their character like? What are their ethics?”
Kelly also agreed with Trump’s former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis that the president shouldn’t be sending in active-duty troops to stop peaceful protests and feared the current polarization is reaching its breaking point.
“There is a concern, I think an awful big concern, that the partisanship has gotten out of hand, the tribal thing has gotten out of hand,” Kelly said.
Kelly’s comments came one day after he defended Mattis for telling The Atlantic that Trump “is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people.”
Kelly told Scaramucci that if he were still chief of staff, he would have argued against using force to clear out Lafayette Square so that Trump could do a photo-op at a nearby church.
“I would’ve argued against it, recommended against it,” Kelly said. “I would argue that the end result of that was predictable.”

Archbishop Viganò’s powerful letter to President Trump: Eternal struggle between good and evil playing out right now
Mr. President,
In recent months we have been witnessing the formation of two opposing sides that I would call Biblical: the children of light and the children of darkness. The children of light constitute the most conspicuous part of humanity, while the children of darkness represent an absolute minority. And yet the former are the object of a sort of discrimination which places them in a situation of moral inferiority with respect to their adversaries, who often hold strategic positions in government, in politics, in the economy and in the media. In an apparently inexplicable way, the good are held hostage by the wicked and by those who help them either out of self-interest or fearfulness.

Numerous people in various media fields have told me this is the most oppressive political environment they have ever experienced. If they say anything that even deviates ever-so-marginally from consensus opinion, their livelihoods will be destroyed. And they are probably right
And that is why the polls were wrong in 2016 and probably even off by more in 2020

sorry to butt in so I'll move your question back up (or down ?)
The Atlantic Magazine reported
Twitter’s decision to label Trump’s posts as misleading was a hinge moment. For years, the company had provided the president with a platform for propaganda and a mechanism for cowing his enemies, a fact that long irked both critics outside Twitter and employees within. Only when Trump used Twitter to threaten violence against the protests did the company finally limit the ability of users to see or share a tweet.
Alky and James both wrong, Park Police did not use "tear gas".
Non-conversation Alky, You still sticking with the mob in DC Staying "peaceful" thru the night?
Only when Trump used Twitter to threaten violence against the protests did the company finally limit the ability of users to see or share a tweet.
That's BULLSHIT. Trump never threatened violence against protestors. And if you think twitter's actions are OK then Atlantic magazine then should be censored for it's inciting it's readers.
And Twitter lets/let all kinds of actual terrorist organizations use it's platform. And people like the ayatollah and his "death to America" rantings. It's a cesspool especially when you down a level.
The media twisting all Trumps words and actions show this is a real war between good and evil. And the MSM media and press has turned evil.
