But we should do this same thing nationally?

Final Mail-In Primary Failure Rate In New York City: 20.8%
More than one in every five ballots cast in New York City got discarded in the state’s June 23rd primary, raising all sorts of questions about who actually won the congressional nominations and other races. Voters didn’t get proper instructions, the postal service wasn’t prepared, and that will leave a permanent cloud over all the results:
The mail-in ballots of more than 84,000 New York City Democrats who sought to vote in the presidential primary were disqualified, according to new figures released by the Board of Elections.

Well there you go! I guess 84,00 ballots being left on the sidelines is "not" voter disenfranchisement, like it is when voters actually go to the polling station and forget to vote for an office or vote for two people for the same office. These were just "Democrats" so the percentages are likely higher than they would be in a general election given the fact that Democrats are inherently incapable of following directions.

Bottom line is that liberalism does require a degree of hypocrisy to make those difficult and illogical arguments. Not sure how it will play out that having one in five ballots discarded is a great way for democracy to work, but I am nearly certain that the argument for a "mail-in election" in November is the way to go.

From a conservative standpoint, this is probably just further proof that the more difficult you make voting, the more Democratic ballots will be tossed. Democrats seem much less apt to follow through on following instructions than Republicans are. Perhaps Democrats should be careful what they wish for... given 20% of their voters cannot seem to get it right.

Imagine the onslaught of lawsuits that will take place if we have a Presidential election decided because upwards of 20% of the ballots had to be disqualified.

sane people see this as a major flaw. liberals see this as a major opportunity to ballot "harvest" AKA STEAL.

Fauci Won’t Comment on Mail Voting
August 7, 2020 at 11:41 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Dr. Anthony Fauci declined to tell the Washington Post if mail-in voting should be used as a public health measure amid the coronavirus pandemic, saying his statement would “almost certainly be used as a soundbite.”

He added:
“It’s a sport now in Washington to pit me against the president and I don’t really want to do that. But someone will take a quote and, bingo, it’ll be me against the president and I don’t want to do that.”
__________

It's easy enough to read between the lines what he really thinks.

this is exactly what the democrats are counting on, and exactly why they've started with their "Trump is fucking with the USPS!" bullshit.

How secure are Mail-in Ballots?

Very, very, VERY Secure. ... Despite whatever the want-a-bee Authoritarian might rage about it.

FYI:

“The linchpin of our security is signature verification.”

“Every single signature on every single ballot that is returned to a county election official is checked against the signature on file in a voter’s registration record. This enables officials to do to two things: (1) ensure the ballot was returned by an eligible voter, and (2) if the signature on the ballot envelope does not match the signature on file, it gives the voter a chance to either update their record or alert election officials that the ballot returned may be fraudulent.”

Study after study shows there’s no evidence of significant widespread voter fraud or security issues associated with vote-by-mail. Most recently, a Washington Post and Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) analysis of three vote-by-mail states found that officials identified just 372 possible cases of improper voting out of about 14.6 million votes cast by mail in the 2016 and 2018 general elections, or 0.0025 percent.

The reason that there are so few examples of improper voting (someone voting twice, filling out a ballot for someone else, etc.) is that states, especially those who have a long history of voting by mail, have established strong safeguards to prevent it. [...]

Most election jurisdictions also use some form of bar codes on ballots for tracking. Each voter has their own unique bar code, and when yours is submitted and scanned, it’s tracked in the system and you can’t cast another ballot for that election.

There are myriad other physical security measures election officials take, including 24-hour surveillance of ballot dropboxes, mandating that no one can be alone with ballots at any time and establishing a clear chain of custody for all ballots.

What does the data say about fraud when it comes to mail ballots?

While election experts say fraud in mail balloting is slightly more common than in in-person voting, it's still such a minuscule amount it's not statistically meaningful.

Amber McReynolds, a former Colorado election official and now the CEO of the National Vote at Home Institute, and Charles Stewart, director of the MIT Election Data and Science Lab, recently put the numbers in context in an op-ed in The Hill titled "Let's put the vote-by-mail 'fraud' myth to rest."

Over the past 20 years, they write, more than 250 million ballots have been cast by mail nationwide, while there have been just 143 criminal convictions for election fraud related to mail ballots. That averages out to about one case per state every six or seven years, or a fraud rate of 0.00006%.

Trump Campaign Apologized to CNN
August 7, 2020 at 11:50 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

CNN’s Brianna Keilar had a “major-league slugfest” of an interview with Trump campaign adviser Mercedes Schlapp, and Schlapp later fired back with an op-ed attacking Keilar — and her husband.

But Schlapp, who accused Keilar’s husband of being “a ferocious opponent of the president,” was apparently wrong in her facts and Keilar returned fire: “Get your facts straight. And don’t mess with my family.”

Brian Stelter:
“On Thursday evening the highest levels of the Trump campaign conveyed apologies to the highest levels of CNN.”

WOW.

Go to the politicalwire site, click on it and watch both videos of those two women's slugfest.

Then click below on FIRES BACK and see what a HUGE mistake Mercedes Schapp made to attack Brianna Keiler's husband.

No wonder there was a strong apology.

I have a question now for Ch.
One that Keiller asked Schlapp:

Why is it that Trump is suddenly fine with mail in voting in Florida, but NOWHERE ELSE?

If safeguards can be made to apply even to Florida,
can they not be made to apply to the other states?

Could you please try to answer that in a few simple sentences without dancing all over the place?

Well I guess it's okay to have one out of every five ballots tossed... as long as we continue to spout the well used and well debunked concept that there is no voter "fraud" huh?

Either way... this was a disaster as was other primary elections that were held by mail.

The concept that we can "fix" all of this over the next three months with literally no plan in place to do so... is silly.

but hey... I am okay with 20% of the ballots being tossed. Only allow those who can follow instructions have their votes count. The rest can suck rotten eggs are far as I am concerned.

But no "going to court" after the election is over with some sort of lawsuit that will allow the idiots who did it wrong to somehow have their votes counted. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that all school districts across the state have been authorized to reopen for the fall semester, including New York City."

Cuomo Clears Way for Schools to Reopen
August 7, 2020 at 12:41 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said all New York schools can reopen because of the state’s low coronavirus infection rate, the Wall Street Journal reports.

“Mr. Cuomo’s highly anticipated decision clears the way for New York City, the largest school district in the nation, to go forward with its plans to offer students a hybrid of optional in-person classes and remote-learning instruction in the fall.”

Said Cuomo:
“We have the best infection situation in the country. If any state can do it, this state can do it.”
____________

Remarkable claim. Still, even Cuomo had better be careful how he handles this. If infections increase even in hybrid optional situations, there will need to be draw downs.

The same will surely be true of other states that are reopening even without being able to claim the "better infection" situations that Cuomo is claiming for New York.

Some very difficult decisions are facing parents these days.

you dumb fuck.

FL has had mail in voting in place for almost 20 years.

the dems are telling us they can set it up nationwide inside of 90 days.

and we KNOW that's a fucking lie.

it takes a democrat 3 fucking days to pour water out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel in english AND spanish for fucks sake.
