Biden continues with debate strategy of setting low expectations!

If he acts completely senile in these interviews he can dazzle them with mediocrity during the debates

Biden Shatters Fundraising Record
September 1, 2020 at 11:59 am EDT

“Joe Biden is expected to report a record-breaking haul of donations for August, raising more than $300 million between his campaign and his shared committees with the Democratic Party,” the New York Times reports.

“The sum would shatter past monthly records as small donors have poured money into Mr. Biden’s coffers, especially since the selection of Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate, and big contributors, from Silicon Valley to Wall Street, have given checks that can be as large as $620,000.”

Trump Denies Having a ‘Series of Mini-Strokes’
11:44 am EDT

President Trump on Twitter: “It never ends! Now they are trying to say that your favorite President, me, went to Walter Reed Medical Center, having suffered a series of mini-strokes. Never happened to THIS candidate – FAKE NEWS.”

No one has actually reported that Trump had a series of mini-strokes.

Michael Schmidt’s forthcoming book reports Vice President Mike Pence was put on standby to temporarily assume the powers of the presidency during Trump’s unannounced visit to Walter Reed hospital in November 2019, but it said nothing about “mini-strokes.”

Trump Repeats Claim of Thug-Filled Planes
11:42 am

President Trump doubled-down on his claim of “planes loaded with thugs” set to disrupt various protests in cities.

Said Trump: “A person was on a plane, said there were about 6 people like that person, more or less, and what happened is the entire plane filled up with the looters, the anarchists, rioters, people looking for trouble. The person felt very uncomfortable on the plane.”

Trump told reporters he’s going to see if he can put them in touch with the “person” who witnessed it: “Maybe they will speak to you, maybe they won’t.”

Why Trump’s Scare Tactics in the Suburbs Won’t Work
10:58 am

David Byler: “First, demographics. These communities are no longer all-White bastions where fathers work and mothers stay home with the children. These neighborhoods are racially diverse: According to a 2018 study, only 68% of suburbanites were White, 14% were Hispanic and 11% were Black. And no matter where they live, Pew Research Center found that the share of mothers who stay home with children declined from 49% in 1967 to 27% in 2016. The audience Trump believes he’s targeting — White stay-at-home suburban moms — may be smaller than he thinks.

“Playing the race card is more likely to backfire now than in any time in a generation. In 2019, the libertarian Cato Institute found that 52% of Americans who live in the suburbs favor ‘building more houses, condos and apartments’ in their community while 46% oppose the idea. According to YouGov, 50% of suburbanites think Biden would be better at handling race relations than Trump, and only 28% prefer Trump to Biden. And though it’s too early to tell whether this is a fad or a permanent trend, some suburbs may move left as city-dwellers, some of whom fear disease, have fled urban covid-19 hotspots.

“Finally, Trump’s suburban pitch is off-key in an election dominated by the coronavirus.”

Fauci Pushes Back on Theory Pushed by Trump
10:32 am

Dr. Anthony Fauci pushed back against a conspiracy theory questioning the country’s coronavirus death toll on Good Morning America, which President Trump shared in a retweet this weekend.

Said Fauci: “The numbers that you’ve been hearing, the 180,000-plus deaths, are real deaths from Covid-19. Let there not be any confusion about that. It’s not 9,000 deaths from Covid-19. It’s 180-plus thousand deaths.”

“The nonprofit — now reportedly under investigation in connection with the federal charges against Bannon — started paying Miller the same month that Bannon’s associates learned they were under federal investigation, court documents and public reports show.”

Trump’s ‘Plane Loaded with Thugs’ Matches Conspiracy
9:22 am

“The conspiracy theory that President Trump pushed on Monday that a plane ‘almost completely loaded with thugs’ was set to disrupt protests was almost identical to a rumor that went viral on Facebook three months ago,” NBC News reports.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump claimed that “we had somebody get on a plane from a certain city this weekend, and in the plane it was almost completely loaded with thugs, wearing these dark uniforms, black uniforms, with gear and this and that.”

He then claimed the matter was “under investigation right now.”

There is no evidence of any such flight. When asked for more information about the flight, Trump said, “I’ll tell you sometime.”

Biden Team Plans for Mid-Crisis Transition
9:15 am

Wall Street Journal: “It is traditionally a more daunting task for the challenger: Mr. Biden’s team not only has to turn the broad promises the candidate made on the campaign trail into policy, but also has to fill thousands of jobs and organize government agencies.”

“Next January, the transition is likely to take place with the coronavirus pandemic still ongoing—even if a vaccine is approved in record time—and the economic downturn continuing. There is also the possibility that a delay in the election results or the losing side questioning the legitimacy of the outcome could affect the transition.”

Crossover Endorsements Show Cracks in Trump Coalition
9:13 am EDT

Ron Brownstein: “Joe Biden is attracting more crossover endorsements from prominent members of the opposing party than any other presidential candidate from either side in decades.

“That doesn’t guarantee the former vice president victory in November, but history suggests it could signal a lasting break in the Republican coalition that provides new opportunities to Democrats for years to come.”

Dear LeBron,

In your latest celebrity race-bait hate remarks objecting to the actions of police attempting to arrest “that gentleman” Jacob Blake for aggravated sexual assault, shooting him after he fought them and brandished a deadly weapon, you declared, “Black men, Black women, Black kids, we are terrified.”

LeBron, you don’t speak for me and my boys.

I’m a father of four brown boys. It is my responsibility as a father to protect and serve them. There is no need for police in my home because as the father, I’m the authority in my home. Police are needed where fathers and law and order are absent. When there is no father to protect and serve children, police have to move into that community to protect and serve.

Where there is no father or authority in the home or neighborhood, young men rebel. This is why police are having a hard time gaining compliance with fatherless boys on the side of the road. They refuse to sit down, be quiet, and comply. Why? Because the police are the first men to tell them NO and assert their authority. These boys have spent their lifetime under no man’s authority. A failure to recognize and respect authority is a primary causal factor in the violence besieging our urban areas.

You don’t speak for me and my boys. We are not terrified of the police because we respect the police and accept their authority. That’s because my boys first had to respect me as their father and accept my authority. Actually, one of them wants to be a police officer. You, LeBron, are trying to destroy that dream by painting police officers in a negative light when most are good guys.

In fact, what should terrify “Black men, Black women, Black kids” are the black men that kill each other in their black neighborhoods every day. We are afraid of the black men that threaten us for desiring to live a peaceful, lawful, and successful life. We are aware of the fact that almost 90% of all black homicides are committed by black men.

You focus on the handful of white-on-black officer-involved shootings but ignore the epidemic of black-on-black murders, rapes, and violent assaults, choosing instead to adopt the Marxist BLM mantra about condemning police.

If you really want to help fatherless boys like yourself, stop using fear tactics and guilt trips. Stop supporting political policies that enslave black people on urban poverty plantations, promoting broken families.

Start promoting legislation for “Equal Shared Parenting,” which empowers divorced dads and single dads to have more time with their children without paying more child support. Help get legislation passed to make child support more fair and equal. Fund programs like my former #GoodGuys #GoodGirls mentorship curriculums (killed by ObamaCare) to help black youth learn to respect authority, develop a work ethic, and accomplish their goals.

Stop blaming the police and help build better fathers and families. Stop saying police need more training and start training more dads and young black boys on the rule of law and police protocols.

Remember, there are millions of black and brown boys out here that are not being killed by police. They are alive and doing quite well because they acknowledge authority.

With all due respect,

Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden has surged into a double-digit lead over President Donald Trump in Arizona, according to a Morning Consult poll released on Tuesday.

In the other battleground states, the race between the two candidates has remained virtually unchanged since the last survey.

Biden was trailing Trump by two percentage points in Arizona in the last survey taken just before the start of the Democratic National Convention on Aug. 17, but in this latest poll, conducted between Aug. 21-30, the former vice president picked up 12 percentage points to take a 10-point lead over Trump.

Arizona has not voted for a Democrat for president since 1996.

Other results from the poll indicate:

Biden leads Trump 52% to 42% in Arizona, thanks to a 10-point increase in support among men, statistically tying him with Trump (49% to 45%), and a 7-point boost in support among suburbanites, who now favor Biden 51% to 42%. He also leads among women (55% to 40%) and independents (51% to 37%).
In Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, Biden’s lead over Trump was statistically unchanged since before the convention, while the president holds a 50% to 45% advantage in Ohio.
Biden continues to hold a comfortable lead over Trump in Michigan (52% to 42%) and Colorado (51% to 41%).
Biden leads Trump in Wisconsin 52% to 43%, up 3 points since before the conventions but inside the margins of error of the two surveys.
Nationally, Biden is ahead of Trump, 51% to 43%. That includes a 12-point lead among women, an 11-point advantage among independents and an 11-point lead among voters in the suburbs.

It was a 17 year old boy who came to protect private property and spend the day cleaning graffiti off buildings and administering first aid.

He was sent away by the police (as unneeded anymore) when he was accosted by criminals (literal criminals) who stalked him, threw stuff at him, then charged at him, and beat him with a skateboard.

Because he was not of their political persuasion.

How on god's green earth can we declare any honesty or decency in the world if we demand that the 17 year old boy is the one who needs to be condemned and that the sexual criminal and women beaters who attacked him are the fucking victims?

Some people say that Joe Biden is demented. They have been gaslighted. He's not sane anymore.

President Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham in a White House interview Monday that his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, is being "controlled like a puppet," but he can't specify who is calling the shots. "Who do you think is pulling Biden's strings, is it former Obama officials?" Ingraham asked. "People that you've never heard of, people that are in the dark shadows," Trump said. Ingraham suggested that "dark shadows" sounds "like conspiracy theory" fodder, but Trump disagreed. "No," he said, "only people that you haven't heard of. They're, they're people that are on the streets, they're people that are controlling the streets."

Trump continued that he had "somebody get on a plane from a certain city this weekend" carrying about seven "thugs wearing these dark uniforms" en route to the Republican National Convention, which ended last Thursday. He promised more details later, but couldn't divulge them now because it is "under investigation."

If Trump talking about Democratic rivals being "puppets" rings a bell, he and Hillary Clinton swapped that accusation in a 2016 debate — with Trump taking great umbrage at Clinton's charge that Russian President Vladimir Putin was trying to help him win the election.

Trump’s vision of the world is getting more and more conspiratorial. Tonight in an interview with Fox News Channel personality Laura Ingraham, he claimed that “people that are in the dark shadows” are controlling Biden. He claimed this weekend there was an airplane full of “thugs” in “black uniforms,” out “to do big damage.” When Ingraham pressed for more information, he said: “I’ll tell you sometime but it’s under investigation.” Ingraham said: “That sounds like conspiracy theory.”

To push these ideas, Trump and his people are deliberately constructing a false narrative.

Trump’s YouTube channel is now home to a video featured at the Republican National Convention on Monday, showing rioting and a city in flames and implying those scenes are America in the past several months. In the film, one sister tells another that “This is a taste of Biden’s America,” as photos and videos of violence play. “The rioting, the crime. Freedom is at stake now and this is going to be the most important election of our lifetime.”

Trump is the President. He is responsible for the violence and looting because he doesn't have the ability to care for everyone else but himself.

The President's supporters will take to arms when he loses the election, because he has been seeking anger and will not accept the results.

In nature, an animal is most dangerous when cornered and wounded. The same is proving true in the closing months of President Trump’s term.

Trump botched the coronavirus pandemic, bungled the economic recovery and flubbed the handling of civil rights demonstrations. Members of his own family denounce him. He faces a seemingly insurmountable deficit against challenger Joe Biden.

And so the president is trying to provoke a race war on the streets of America.

“We’ve arrived at a moment in this campaign,” Biden said during a visit to a rehabilitated Pittsburgh steel mill Monday, that “we all knew . . . we’d get to — the moment when Donald Trump would be so desperate, he’d do anything to hold on to power.”

After violence claimed lives on both sides of the divide between racial-justice demonstrators and Trump supporters in recent days, Biden said Trump “fans the flames” of violence. “He can’t stop the violence because, for years, he’s fomented it.”

Biden quoted from departing Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway’s acknowledgment that “the more chaos and anarchy and vandalism and violence reigns, the better it is” for the president. Said Biden: “He’s rooting for chaos and violence.”

When the president’s supporters, often armed, drive into cities to provoke racial-justice demonstrators, Trump calls them “GREAT PATRIOTS!” His convention glorified vigilantes who took up arms against protesters — “disgraceful anarchists” and “thugs” in Trump’s telling. The president declares that the backlash against demonstrators by his supporters “cannot be unexpected” and says that “the only way you will stop the violence in the high crime Democrat run cities is through strength!” He proposes that the far-right militia member who allegedly killed two protesters in Wisconsin acted in self-defense.

Trump is doing this because, he thinks, White suburban women will be frightened and will vote for him to protect them. They should be frightened — by a leader who instigates bloodshed to promote selfish ends.

There’s plenty of blame to go around for the violence: far-left “antifa,” far-right militias and opportunists and criminals of all variety. What’s needed to calm the situation is for leaders to denounce violence in all forms.

“I want to make it absolutely clear,” Biden said in Pittsburgh — chosen instead of Wisconsin, where Trump is scheduled to travel Tuesday, to avoid further inflammation. “Rioting is not protesting. Looting is not protesting. Setting fires is not protesting. . . . It’s lawlessness, plain and simple, and those who do it should be prosecuted. Violence will not bring change, it’ll only bring destruction. It’s wrong in every way.”

And Trump? Invited at a news conference Monday evening to condemn violence by his supporters, he declined.

This matters. Preliminary new research from political scientists at the University of Maryland and Louisiana State University suggests that neither side is inherently more violent; about 10 percent of Americans, equally divided between right and left, condone political violence, and only a tiny fraction of them are actually violent.

But the researchers also found that when those prone to violence were read a statement by either Biden or Trump condemning violence, they became 20 percent less likely to support political violence. The more partisan, the greater the effect. “Without a message of anti-violence, the strong partisans are more violent,” Lilliana Mason, an associate professor of government and politics at the University of Maryland, tells me.

Anonymous said...

That’s why Trump’s leadership is so deadly. The Anti-Defamation League found that four of the five years Trump has been on the national scene have set records for extremist-related violence. In 2019, right-wing fanatics were responsible for 90 percent of extremist-related murders. Elizabeth Neumann, who recently resigned a high-level position in Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, told Yahoo News that “you have right-wing extremists coming in trying to take advantage of the cover of the protests to carry out these violent acts and they are trying to start a race war.”

Trump, who likes to say his supporters are “much tougher” than the other side, has routinely spouted violent notions. “When the looting starts, the shooting starts.” “Vicious dogs.” “Dominate the streets.” “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” “Knock the crap out of them.” “Very fine people on both sides.” “I’d like to punch him in the face.” “Enemy of the people.” “Any guy that can do a body slam, he is my type.” “The audience hit back. That’s what we need a little more of.”

The potential for political violence has grown as parties polarized by race and racial attitudes. Only leaders’ restraint has avoided a conflagration up to now. But Trump has unleashed the hellhounds, and it won’t be easy to stop.

“I look at this violence and I see lives and communities and the dreams of small businesses being destroyed,” Biden said from Pittsburgh in his latest anti-violence plea. “Donald Trump looks at this violence and he sees a political lifeline.”

Biden is doing his part. But calm won’t come unless and until the American president acts like a human being — not a cornered animal.

The year was 2009. A 22-year old black man was shot and killed while being detained by police at a BART station in Oakland, CA. In the days following rioting ensued, and hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage occurred.

That event was considered to be the first of a new fight for civil rights. Where peaceful protests occurred, they were justifiable and necessary. The fight against police brutality is not a fight against the police. Unfortunately, the peaceful movement has been co-opted by organizations that use violence as a means of attempting to steer public policy. (see Occupy Movement, Antifa)

In 2010 and the birth of the Occupy Wall Street movement, cities across the country faced violent outbursts from leftist groups for years. Almost every major US city faced threats of violence from communist forces unless they cowered to the agenda. They were (and are) literally the definition of domestic terrorists. (see FBI definition of terrorism)

Michael Brown, Vonderrit Meyers, Eric Garner, Antonio Martin, Freddie Gray, Mansur Ball-Bey, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Sylville Smith, and Keith Lamont Scott. Each of these shootings of young minorities led to violent riots across the country, all of which took place before Trump ever set foot in the Oval Office. Each was met with marches that almost always turned violent with the destruction of property and the assault of citizens and police officers alike. Even up until recently, Democrats were siding with encouraging rioting and violence as a result of the treatment of minority men by police.

Yet, as Democrats march toward November, they now want to place the blame for the violence that has plagued our country for over a decade on a man who has been President for less than a third of that time.

Trump lives in an imaginary world!

“They can do 10,000 great acts, which is what they do, and one bad apple or a choker — you know, a choker. They choke,” Trump said, apparently making reference to the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, Wis.

Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, was shot in the back seven times by a white officer earlier this month as he leaned into his car. Three of Blake’s children were reportedly in the back seat of his SUV when their father was shot. Blake survived the shooting but family members have said he is paralyzed from the waist down.

“Shooting the guy in the back many times. I mean, couldn’t you have done something different? Couldn’t you have wrestled him?” Trump said Monday.

“You know, I mean, in the meantime, he might’ve been going for a weapon. And, you know, there’s a whole big thing there. But they choke just like in a golf tournament. They miss a three-foot putt.”

Counter point from real experts to Lil Schitty's thread yesterday concerning that Covid is not the real problem but underlying conditions are the culprit in so many dying!!!!!!! BWAAAAAAPAAAAAA!!!!!!
Fauci debunks coronavirus death misinformation promoted by President Trump
White House coronavirus adviser Anthony S. Fauci on Tuesday refuted online misinformation amplified by President Trump that the virus’s death toll has been vastly overstated in the United States.
The claim was shared by the far-right website Gateway Pundit and a follower of the baseless QAnon theory in Twitter posts that Trump retweeted Sunday, one of which was removed for violating the company’s coronavirus misinformation policy. It falsely claimed that only 6 percent of the nation’s 180,000 reported covid-19 deaths are legitimate, pointing to a statement on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website saying that 94 percent of deaths involved co-morbidities.
“If you look at the people who died of covid disease, the point that the CDC was trying to make was that a certain percentage of them had nothing else but just covid,” Fauci said during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “That does not mean that someone who has hypertension or diabetes who dies of covid didn’t die of covid-19. They did.”
Despite online claims, the CDC statement was not a departure from what has been known about the coronavirus. The CDC has said for months that people with underlying health issues are at greater risk of developing serious symptoms from coronavirus.
Co-morbidities reported on the CDC’s website include heart disease, obesity, diabetes and hypertension — conditions that can make a person more vulnerable to the virus. Each would appear on a person’s death certificate, along with covid-19. Death certificates may also list sepsis, respiratory arrest, kidney failure or other conditions as the immediate cause of death, but those are caused by the infection.
Many scientists, Fauci among them, think the virus’s true death toll has been undercounted, not overcounted, because of lack of access to testing at the start of the pandemic and deaths that happen at home.
“The numbers that you’ve been hearing, the 180,000-plus deaths, are real deaths from covid-19,” he said Tuesday. “Let there not be any confusion about that. It’s not 9,000 deaths from covid-19. It’s 180,000-plus deaths.”

The President is trying hard to distract attention from the COVID-19 infection and the aftereffects.

For a growing number of coronavirus patients, recovery hasn’t been swift or easy. In fact, it’s been almost as bad as having the virus itself. I should know — it’s been my daily hell.

Ever since coming down with COVID-19 symptoms in late January, my body feels as though it has been put through the grueling paces of the New York City Marathon without having the proper training for the 26.2-mile run. Or for the tech-savvy, like an iPhone 6S that won’t charge beyond 50 percent.

If I overexert myself, I get a burning, acidic feeling in my lungs, and breathing becomes difficult. A dry cough, along with heart palpitations, come and go. Every muscle and joint aches. If I stand up too quickly, the room gets dark and I nearly pass out.

Electric-like zaps, along with nerve-tingling, radiate throughout my arms, legs and feet. I’m in a constant “brain fog,” always having trouble processing what I’ve just read or heard, or constantly trying to remember familiar names, dates and facts. I have constant pounding headaches that make it extremely difficult to do much of anything. And my dreams — when I can actually get more than three hours of sleep — are intense, bizarre and movie-like.

From your article you doddering old fool

After returning home to the U.K. from a long weekend in Reykjavik, I ended up in the emergency room for lung and heart pain. The doctor suspected a blood clot, but that was later ruled out. An EKG of my heart was irregular but not overly concerning to the staff. I asked if it could be the coronavirus; the doctor didn’t even know what I was talking about. After several hours, I was sent home. My diagnosis? A viral infection, pneumonia and pericarditis — inflammation of the lining around the heart. There was nothing I could do other than rest and drink fluids.

That’s Trump’s stupid simpleton

Your President is not sane. He suffered a stroke in November 2019, but they covered up the disease on Faux News Sean Hannity etc.

For the second time in as many days, President Trump claimed without evidence that a plane filled with left-wing agitators either was or had been traveling somewhere within the U.S.

“A person was on a plane, said that there were about six people like that person, more or less, and what happened is the entire plane filled up with the looters, the rioters, the anarchists, people that were obviously looking for trouble and the person felt very uncomfortable on the plane,” Trump said Tuesday at Joint Base Andrews before departing to visit Kenosha, Wis.

Trump’s recent talk of planes filled with “the looters, the rioters” is confusing even some of the president’s allies and those who ignore his sometimes bizarre tangents. Trump has spent the last several weeks attempting to link his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, to the unrest in a number of American cities this month, but he now appears to have taken that line of argument in a more conspiratorial direction.

Counterfactual thinking is one of our most valuable tools for identifying causal relationships.

It works like this: If an outcome didn’t happen in a world where a potential cause didn’t happen, then the potential cause must have been responsible for the outcome. If the rock didn’t get thrown, the window wouldn’t have broken; therefore, the rock must have caused the window to break. In simple situations, this view is sensible, and research suggests that it’s generally consistent with people’s judgments about causes.

“I went — did a very routine — just a piece of it,” Trump said; “the rest of it takes place in January — did a very routine physical."

He did not go back for the second part of his physical. There was no report released after his November visit, as there had been the preceding February. In June, Trump’s team did produce a memo memorializing the president’s health, including an assertion that the president had completed his physical at the White House. That report came at a useful time, politically: Trump’s halting walk down a ramp at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point earlier in the month raised questions about his health and fortitude. (Trump is the oldest person to serve as president.)

All a bit murky, but a mystery that eventually faded. Until Tuesday, when a book from New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt was published. It includes an interesting new detail about Trump’s trip to the hospital:

“In reporting for this book, I learned that in the hours leading up to Trump’s trip to the hospital, word went out in the West Wing for the vice president to be on standby to take over the powers of the presidency temporarily if Trump had to undergo a procedure that would have required him to be anesthetized. Pence never assumed the powers of the presidency, and the reason for Trump’s trip to the doctor remains a mystery.”
It’s not unheard of for the vice president to be prepared to assume the duties of the presidency while the chief executive undergoes a medical procedure. George H.W. Bush was briefly acting president in July 1985 as Ronald Reagan — at that point, the oldest person to hold the position — had surgery. But there was a big difference: The Reagan surgery was planned and telegraphed to congressional leaders in advance in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution’s 25th Amendment. Trump’s wasn’t, emerging only when reported by Schmidt.

That such a step was considered, implying that Trump would be incapacitated, implies that something more dramatic was afoot than a simple annual physical. What, though, remains unclear.

On Tuesday, Trump poured some accelerant on the story, with an out-of-left-field tweet on the subject.

This claim about “mini-strokes” was apparently spurred by author Don Winslow, who made the allegation in a tweet of his own. It was accompanied by a video showing Trump speaking with some difficulty in December 2017.

The Trump administration’s Covid response seems increasingly to reflect a policy preference among some conservatives: Protect the elderly and let others try to get on with their lives. This thinking assumes that herd immunity will slow the pandemic if more younger people are infected. Many features of federal policy seem to be following this philosophy.

It’s important to protect the old and the vulnerable, who are at the highest risk of severe illness and bad outcomes. But like most issues of medicine, it isn’t a binary choice. Given the uncertainties of how this virus spreads and its high risk of infirmities, it would be unwise to abandon efforts to limit Covid spread wherever possible. That means continued universal masking, social distancing, and diagnosing and tracing of individual cases.

While age appears to be the strongest predictor of death and severe disease, other risks like diabetes and obesity correlate with bad outcomes. About 10% of Americans have diabetes, and 40% are considered obese. Young people can fall seriously ill. About 40% of hospitalizations in Sunbelt states in the last week of June were in people ages 18 to 49.
Then there are those who survive but don’t fully recover. There’s growing evidence that the virus can damage the heart and cause dangerous autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including in children.

He's spreading weird conspiracy theories.

In an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump claimed that “we had somebody get on a plane from a certain city this weekend, and in the plane it was almost completely loaded with thugs, wearing these dark uniforms, black uniforms, with gear and this and that.”

He then claimed the matter was “under investigation right now.”

There is no evidence of any such flight.

It was an old Facebook page.

The claim about the flight matches a viral Facebook post from June 1 that falsely claimed, “At least a dozen males got off the plane in Boise from Seattle, dressed head to toe in black.” The post, by an Emmett, Idaho, man, warned residents to “Be ready for attacks downtown and residential areas,” and claimed one passenger had “a tattoo that said Antifa America on his arm.”

That post was shared over 3,000 times on Facebook, and other pages from Idaho quickly added their own spin to it, like the Idaho branch of the far-right militia group 3 Percenters.

One post claimed that “Antifa has sent a plane load of their people” and that the Payette County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it. Within days, that version of the rumor picked up enough steam in Idaho Facebook groups that the Payette County Sheriff’s Office had to release a statement insisting that the viral rumor was “false information.”

Trump denied that his unscheduled visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last November was because he had “suffered a series of mini-strokes.” No media outlets have reported that Trump had a series of mini-strokes. Trump, however, tweeted that it “Never happened to THIS candidate – FAKE NEWS.” Hours later, Trump’s physician issued an official statement saying Trump has not had a stroke, mini-stroke or heart-related emergencies.
