- Look at Illinois which appears just as dark (if not darker) than surrounding states which have lesser degree of mask wearing.
- Look at New Mexico, which has both the highest amount of Covid and the highest amount of mask wearing.
- Missouri on the other hand, looks to be a bright spot, in spite of having less mask wearers.
- The southeast is actually doing just as well as the west coast, in spite of the southeast having much fewer mask wearers.

Covid-19 Alert: The 10 Riskiest States To Visit Right Now, Ranked
Traveling in the U.S. is becoming riskier by the day, as the country continues to break records for new Covid-19 cases.
Yet not every hot spot is generating the same level of heat. Even as the coronavirus spreads like wildfire, it can be useful to identify which parts of the country present the highest risk so you can stay away until the virus is brought under control.
It’s helpful, too, to keep an eye on how states are handling the crisis — or not handling it. While some governors take steps to rein in the spread of the disease by laying down restrictions in the form of face-mask mandates, curfews, quarantine protocols and even shutdowns, other states — often those with the highest caseloads — are doing comparatively little.
Countless public health experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease expert, have said that widespread face mask-wearing is the most effective way for Americans to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
So why do some states mandate face masks and others do not? A study published in early September from the University of Washington found that governors’ partisanship was the key determining factor. “The most important predictor is whether a state is led by a Republican governor,” wrote the researchers. “These states were much slower to adopt mandates, if they did so at all.”
Two months after that report was published, the pattern continues. Here’s a state-by-state rundown of the riskiest states to visit right now, along with an overview of current Covid-19 protocols.
1) South Dakota

Few governors have been more defiantly anti-mask than South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, a Republican, whose state is the epicenter of Covid-19 spread. The Mount Rushmore state is recording a staggering 154.5 new Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people, on a rolling weekly average, according to the Harvard-Brown risk-assessment tool. Any state with over 25 new daily cases per 100,000 people is colored red on the map, which means it is considered “at a tipping point.” South Dakota’s risk level is more than 500% above that threshold, a breathtaking failure to manage the crisis.
Importantly, South Dakota’s percent positive rate is 58.8%, also the highest in the country, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. That means nearly six in 10 Covid tests come back positive. The percent positive should ideally be under 5%, according the World Health Organization. Worse yet, positivity has risen in South Dakota for the past two consecutive weeks, which suggests that the state is not close to getting the virus under control.

South Dakota is currently leading the U.S. in COVID-19 outbreaks, with a daily positivity rate of about 12.2 percent and hitting a record high of 1,821 new cases on Nov. 12 alone - both indicators of the rampant virus outbreak in the state.
Despite the severity of the outbreak, state leadership has still declined to implement a mandatory mask requirement. Instead, the state has "encouraged" South Dakotans to follow the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and use a mask while in public.

Well, that didn’t go as planned. A recount of votes in Milwaukee demanded by Donald Trump’s campaign increased Joe Biden’s margin of victory — by 132 votes.
The Trump campaign paid $3 million for the partial Wisconsin recount — which also includes Dane County, home of historically progressive Madison, where the recount is expected to be completed Sunday.
Biden’s votes increased by 257 from 317,270 to 317,527 in the Milwaukee recount that wrapped up Friday, while Trump edged up 125 votes for a total of 134,482, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Election officials in Wisconsin complained earlier this week that observers representing the Trump campaign were obstructing the recount.
Observers broke the rules by constantly interrupting vote counters with questions and comments, complained Milwaukee County Clerk George Christenson. According to election officials, a Trump observer objected to every ballot that tabulators pulled from a bag to count simply because they were folded.
Conventional wisdom is that COVID-19 has caused thousands of deaths in the United States and nearly 1.5 million worldwide. This perception has been directly challenged by a study published by Johns Hopkins University on Sunday, November 22.
Genevieve Briand, assistant program director of the Applied Economics master’s degree program at Johns Hopkins University, critically analyzed the impact that COVID-19 had on U.S. deaths. According to her, the impact of COVID-19 on deaths in the United States can be fully understood by comparing it to the number of total deaths in the country.
According to study, “in contrast to most people’s assumptions, the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively no effect on deaths in the United States.”
Wait, what? Really?
That’s what it says. And, it should come as no surprise that not long after the study was published it was deleted within days.
Luckily, a back-up copy remains on The Wayback Machine, and we can still read the study.
So, how exactly did the study conclude that COVID-19 has had “relatively no effect on deaths”? Here’s how the study made this determination:
After retrieving data on the CDC website, Briand compiled a graph representing percentages of total deaths per age category from early February to early September, which includes the period from before COVID-19 was detected in the U.S. to after infection rates soared.
Surprisingly, the deaths of older people stayed the same before and after COVID-19. Since COVID-19 mainly affects the elderly, experts expected an increase in the percentage of deaths in older age groups. However, this increase is not seen from the CDC data. In fact, the percentages of deaths among all age groups remain relatively the same.
According to Briand, “The reason we have a higher number of reported COVID-19 deaths among older individuals than younger individuals is simply because every day in the U.S. older individuals die in higher numbers than younger individuals.”
Briand’s analysis found that the range of deaths amongst the older population has remained within the range of past years.

Concordia University in California said more than 50 rapid COVID-19 tests offered to asymptomatic students and faculty came back with false positive results — sparking fears of a potential outbreak on campus.
The Lutheran university in Irvine reported six active cases — four students and two employees — as of Wednesday.
President Michael Thomas thought an outbreak was on the rise when he ordered the tests.

At the time of the governor’s mandate in early July, new COVID-19 cases had “increased 467%” in counties that ultimately continued to follow the mask requirement. Also during this time, the counties that eventually chose to opt out of the mandate weren’t experiencing as dramatic of spread, roughly “six per 100,000” people, the CDC said.
But about six weeks later, the rate of COVID-19 spread dramatically increased — by 100% — in the counties that didn’t require masks in public places. The 24 counties that adhered to the mandate were able to control the spike in new cases previously reported, and actually saw a 6% reduction in new COVID-19 cases.

Actually we do know... there have been numerous studies on this subject. Just not any studies that the local media would tout.
The most recent and most comprehension was the Danish Study that showed wearing a mask made you 0.3% less vulnerable to picking up the virus. Of course there are about 100 different things you could do that would be more effective than 0.3%...
In Minnesota we paid for a similar study that never finished. They got about 75% of the way through the study and then just abandoned it. Apparently that study was "also" not going to prove what they thought it would.
So the question becomes...
Do you listen to people who call themselves "experts" simply because they call themselves "experts"?
