Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks remains atop Iowa's 2nd District congressional race despite a Saturday recount in Clinton County that eroded her already single-digit lead to just six votes. The Clinton County tally concluded a recount in the 24-county southeast Iowa district, which extends from Jasper and Marion counties in the Des Moines metro to Davenport, and includes Iowa City and Burlington. The vote will go to a state canvassing board Monday to be certified, which would make Miller-Meeks the official winner.
In a statement, Hart's campaign manager, Zach Meunier, did not say whether the campaign will file a legal challenge in the race, the closest House election in the nation. That would trigger a review by a judicial panel and cast continued uncertainty over the outcome.
Well we will have to see whether or not the Hart campaign decides to make any more legal challenges. Seems they did pretty well with the recount overall and may actually stand to lose votes if there are legal challenges, given she made up 26 of her 41 votes in the county that failed to follow Secretary of State instructions and ended up with a final total that exceeded the number of votes cast.
There is nothing in Iowa law that would allow for a third counting of the ballots, and the time to challenge individual ballots was during the recount process. Unless there is some sort or more broad legal challenge to a particular set of ballots or something of that nature, I am not sure what sort of legal action could be taken.
The Hart campaign made some rhetorical remarks about voter suppression, and suggested that they will carefully review what happens on Monday, but did not make any statements regarding any potential legal challenge. While this doesn't necessarily qualify as a "concession" at this point, I would have expected them to have already determined their legal path (if they had one) and that they would have been prepared to announce it at the end of the recount.

geezus pederast, your hypocrisy knows no bounds.
With a largely confirmed natural immune response, it would be impossible to credit the vaccine for preventing illness. Also, were the study subjects tested for innate immunity bases on T-cell or B-cell activity? If not, it cannot be certain the vaccine was responsible for the lack of illness in any given subject.
And while it may not hurt, no science supports recovered patients getting vaccinated at this point or for compulsory immunization of children in the absence of a preexisting condition that would compromise their immune system.
However, it is not surprising to hear this from Dr. Fauci, considering he denied the outcome of at least two dozen studies on natural immunity in congressional testimony under direct questioning from Senator Rand Paul. Weird, since one of the studies was released from Fauci’s agency, the NIH. CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield also did not include this information when he said 90% of the population was still susceptible to COVID-19.
But never fear, Dr. Fauci expects to have the same or a larger role in the Biden administration COVID-19 response. He also supports national mask mandates and praised the response of America’s worst governor, New York’s Andrew Cuomo. It will be up to governors like Ron DeSantis in Florida and Brian Kemp in Georgia to defy any federal orders and litigate them. It is up to Congress to find out why the response isn’t being governed by accepted science.

Biden may be a transitional leader who can take us into a whole new world.
Democratic Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama managed to introduce a few reforms, but they got far less than they wanted. Despite increased charter schools and merit pay, it’s still very difficult to reward good teachers and fire bad ones: Every year, incompetent and even criminal teachers are shuffled from school to school (“the dance of the lemons”) or allowed to spend their days doodling in city offices (“rubber rooms”).
Biden is in an unusually good position to break this dismal pattern. With 30 years on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, he knows as much about “abroad” as anybody. As a moderate Democrat, he can position himself at the vital center, between the old left, which is tied to the unions, and the do-nothing Republicans.
At 78, he’s unlikely to run for a second term (which would mean asking Americans to keep him in the world’s most difficult job until he’s 86), so he probably has unusual freedom to reform the public sector. This is surely where most Americans also belong: More than 60% of voters, including a majority of Democrats, tell pollsters that they support serious structural reform of government.
So look around the world, Joe: Set up an office to study what works in other countries; copy the best and avoid the worst; build back better not just on the basis of U.S. examples, but foreign ones too. China is a particularly important example to study. Not only can it teach the U.S. a thing or two about how to build airports and harness the power of the internet of things, but it can also teach what happens when countries become complacent and parochial.
When Columbus reached the Americas on the Santa Maria in 1492, China accounted for a fifth of the world’s economy, it and boasted the world’s most sophisticated government and its most powerful navy (some Chinese ships were more than 400 feet long, to the Santa Maria’s 70 feet). But eventually, complacency set in: While European states fiercely competed against each other, copying technology and ideas to improve their administrative and military machines, China atrophied, with mandarins learning the same Confucian texts decade after decade and century after century, and emperors turning their backs on the world.
In 1525, China destroyed its world-beating fleet, setting fire to some ships and leaving others to rot, in order to prevent the country’s purity from being contaminated by contact with other countries. In 1792, the Qianlong emperor famously dismissed a British envoy, George Macartney, who had come bearing a treasure trove of gifts in an attempt to persuade China to open up to trade: “We have never valued ingenious articles, nor do we have the slightest need of your country’s manufactures.”
Within a generation, China was a plaything of foreign powers. The modern Chinese have learned from that lesson. Has Joe Biden?

The following peculiarities also lack compelling explanations:
1. Late on election night, with Trump comfortably ahead, many swing states stopped counting ballots. In most cases, observers were removed from the counting facilities. Counting generally continued without the observers
2. Statistically abnormal vote counts were the new normal when counting resumed. They were unusually large in size (hundreds of thousands) and had an unusually high (90 percent and above) Biden-to-Trump ratio
3. Late arriving ballots were counted. In Pennsylvania, 23,000 absentee ballots have impossible postal return dates and another 86,000 have such extraordinary return dates they raise serious questions
4. The failure to match signatures on mail-in ballots. The destruction of mail in ballot envelopes, which must contain signatures
5. Historically low absentee ballot rejection rates despite the massive expansion of mail voting. Such is Biden’s narrow margin that, as political analyst Robert Barnes observes, ‘If the states simply imposed the same absentee ballot rejection rate as recent cycles, then Trump wins the election’
6. Missing votes. In Delaware County, Pennsylvania, 50,000 votes held on 47 USB cards are missing
7. Non-resident voters. Matt Braynard’s Voter Integrity Project estimates that 20,312 people who no longer met residency requirements cast ballots in Georgia. Biden’s margin is 12,670 votes
8. Serious ‘chain of custody’ breakdowns. Invalid residential addresses. Record numbers of dead people voting. Ballots in pristine condition without creases, that is, they had not been mailed in envelopes as required by law
9. Statistical anomalies. In Georgia, Biden overtook Trump with 89 percent of the votes counted. For the next 53 batches of votes counted, Biden led Trump by the same exact 50.05 to 49.95 percent margin in every single batch. It is particularly perplexing that all statistical anomalies and tabulation abnormalities were in Biden’s favor. Whether the cause was simple human error or nefarious activity, or a combination, clearly something peculiar happened.
If you think that only weirdos have legitimate concerns about these findings and claims, maybe the weirdness lies in you.

This is the new version of liberalism...
They no longer claim we should "listen to science".
Now they demand we "listen to the experts".
Sounds like a subtle difference, but it's not. Science is a matter of numbers, analysis, testing, and proving something. There is no real "opinions" in science other than in the hypothesis stage, when they are still testing and troubleshooting an issue.
If two different scientists have two competing hypotheses, science demands that testing and confirmation determines which is closer to being correct. Science doesn't take "degrees" or "reputation" into account when proving a hypothesis.
But if you say "listen to the experts" and then you get to pick and choose your own "experts" while disregarding other equally qualified "experts" who disagree, then you are simply politicizing the issue and pretty much ignoring science.
The smartest scientist in the world can provide us a hypothesis that seems foolproof to the average person. But if testing shows that it's wrong, then it's wrong no matter how many letters are behind that expert's name.
How often has a scientific study been provided and the argument from those who don't like the results are to go "quote" an "expert" who provides little more than an "opinion" that would suggest a scientific study to be wrong.
They won't provide data or a competing study or anything concrete. Just that so-and-so or some agency has provided an opinion that differs.
The following peculiarities also lack compelling explanations:
The only thing compelling about those peculiarities is that they are all BULLSHIT!!!! Like Lil Schitty's interesting read proving you and the entire GOP have lost your fucking minds!!!!!!!! We have still yet to find the so called "gay gene" which is supposed to tell us why some people are attracted to the person of the same sex... but they figure there is a gene that will allow us to scientifically tell the difference between Gender Fluid and Gender Variant or the difference between a Pangender and a Transgender or a Cis Male and a Cisgender Man.

i recall that and it was a good one. recently i think it's been eclipsed by those who think math is not absolute though. 2+2 does not necessarily equal 4 any longer. this is a social construct according to some geniuses on the left. what these fucktards can't seem to process is that a physical construct such as a building or machine DOES require one to believe that 2+2 really, truly does equal fucking 4.

This study has been relinked by many outlets including Real Clear Politics, The Federalist, Spectator, and others.
The fact that you choose to use the logical fallacy of Ad Hominem (shoot the messenger) means you have no logical grounds to take it on.
Your only actual concrete critique is that you believe that the large drops should not be questioned or evaluated because you stated that "in real life" they represent data to far outside the margin of error to be taken seriously.
Which is nothing more than confusion on your part between a study that evaluates "measured data" that involves a margin of error (such as a group of polls) and a study that evaluates raw concrete data that has no margin of error (such as the number of votes recorded).
You will always have a margin of error on a poll and its fine to toss a poll and not consider it, if it falls outside a normal range.
But the vote count certainly does NOT have ANY margin of error.
Therefore you cannot "throw" out the idea of evaluating these out of the ordinary vote counts... any more than you could just physically decide to toss these vote counts (from the election total) because they were out of the ordinary.
But of course, your point that such a variance should not be taken seriously is exactly the point of the article. These counts are so far out of the realm of normalcy that nobody should actually believe that it could happen. There was no place in the State of Michigan that could account for the 141K Biden to 6K Trump vote drop.
Yet it happened. It was recorded and it had to have been simultaneously recorded across multiple precincts or even multiple counties because it wasn't recorded in any single precinct or even any county anywhere.
For you to make yourself out to look smart by suggesting it cannot be questioned because it was too far outside a margin of error makes you look stupid in more ways than I can count.
Party line talking points, you echo like a puppet character from Walt Disney studios!

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin's partial recount boosted President-elect Joe Biden's victory by 87 votes Sunday as President Donald Trump said he was preparing a lawsuit to overturn the results.
The completion of Dane County’s retallying of the vote came two days after Milwaukee County finished its recount.
Biden netted 132 votes in Milwaukee County and Trump netted 45 votes in Dane County. When taken together, that increased Biden's statewide margin to 21,695.
Trump's campaign paid $3 million to cover the cost of the recounts in Wisconsin’s two most Democratic counties so he could pursue a long-shot lawsuit to claim the state’s 10 electoral votes.
This particular person (like many others) have told me why they no longer participate in the comment threads.

When President-elect Joe Biden takes the oath of office in January, he’ll have a group of voters to thank in particular for delivering him the White House: women.
Women supported Biden at higher rates than men — especially Black women voters, who rallied behind President Obama’s former V.P. at crucial turns during his 2020 presidential campaign.
While election data won’t be finalized until each state finishes tabulating its votes, early exit polls show President-elect Biden winning the votes of 57 percent of women, compared to 45 percent of men. In comparison, President Trump won 42 percent of women’s votes and 53 percent of men’s votes.
Katarina Trautmann
Women once again voted at higher rates than men, and in this year of record voter turnout, they’ve cast more votes than ever before.

The strongest argument for Biden’s victory is not the vote tally. It is the monolithic narrative, pumped up like one of those inflatable play castles at a child’s birthday party. With every passing day, that narrative becomes more boisterous, more assertive, more uncompromising. It is a collective primal scream, emitted with eyes shut and ears plugged.
There is a problem for the narrative, however. Or more to the point, there are 73 million problems. A major concession in the Biden-won-give-it-up-narrative is revealed by the hawkers of the “Unity Now” meme. Let us all come together as one nation, under Joe, and reassert the American normality that has been so sorely missing under the despotic reign of Donald Trump.
No. No, that’s not going to fly, and not only because of the snarling viciousness that attended Donald Trump and his entire administration from the moment he was elected until now. Building back better means an updated social contract that treats American workers and working families as essential at all times, not just times of crisis –– with higher wages, stronger benefits, and fair and safe workplaces. We’ve seen millions of American workers put their lives and health on the line to keep our country going. As Biden has said, let’s not just praise them, let’s pay them — a decent wage, at least $15 per hour, and ending the tipped minimum wage and sub-minimum wage for people with disabilities, and strong benefits so they can live a middle class life and provide opportunity for their kids. This starts with passing the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, providing public service and federal government workers with bargaining rights, and taking other steps to make it easier for workers to organize unions and collectively bargain. Biden will also address discrimination and harassment in the workplace, and pass the Paycheck Fairness Act as the next step in efforts to ensure women are paid equally for equal work. He will pass universal paid sick days and 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave. And he has a plan to ensure that every American has access to quality, affordable health care, by providing a public option and lowering costs for care and for prescription drugs.
Building back better means helping small businesses and entrepreneurs come out the other side of this crisis strong, while demanding more from corporate America. We’ve seen the second bailout in 12 years for big corporations and Wall Street. And we’ve seen the Trump Administration provide all the tools necessary to help big businesses and well-connected cronies, while small businesses had to jump through hoops and many couldn’t access the relief they needed. Biden will ensure that corporate America finally pays their fair share in taxes, puts their workers and communities first rather than their shareholders, and respects their workers’ power and voice in the workplace. And Biden will help small businesses manage through the pandemic and recover, so that millions of entrepreneurs can get back on their feet and carry this economy forward.
To see this agenda through, Joe Biden will make new, bold investments and speed up the timetable for many of the 10-year investments he has already announced. He will pay for the ongoing costs of the plan by reversing some of Trump’s tax cuts for corporations and imposing common-sense tax reforms that finally make sure the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share.
Today’s elevated unemployment will mean lower demand, which will mean lower growth for our economy (which relies on consumption). A robust jobs agenda will increase demand. That is why many economists agree that if we fail to make far-reaching, productive investments, it will undermine not only our long-term growth potential, but also our long-term fiscal situation. Democratic supply side economics.
Joseph Heller knew how people like him come to power.
It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.

When I could post he got 1,500 + visits per day
Prior to making it an open blog... when it was actually just me and Indy (who posted almost exclusively about elections) the blog got upwards of 10,000 unique visits a day and I made several hundred dollars a month in advertising.
I was a first pager on Truth Laid Bear rankings (top 100 of the top 5000 blogs), peaking at #62 not too far behind the Powerline blog and ahead of the VodkaPundit (Stephen Green).
After deciding to include multiple posters and attempting to make it unique by allowing both liberals and conservative viewpoints, the blog started to sink (as did the advertising).
I was told by many (including Trende) that it was a huge mistake at the time, but I liked the idea. Turns out that there is very little room on politics to attempt to play both sides.
That forced me off my old platform and onto the free Blogger.com platform which started to kill things off. That and the overall movement from the "blogosphere" to "Twitter" was the downfall.
As Biden has said, let’s not just praise them, let’s pay them — a decent wage, at least $15 per hour, and ending the tipped minimum wage and sub-minimum wage for people with disabilities, and strong benefits so they can live a middle class life and provide opportunity for their kids

Some Republicans Hope Trump Will Be at the Inauguration
1:27 pm
“When President Trump lost this year’s election to Joe Biden, almost nobody around him said they could envision the losing incumbent attending his successor’s inauguration,” CNN reports.
“The image remains implausible for a President who will likely never concede and said Sunday that nothing would convince him he lost. Yet Republicans and aides to Trump are encouraging him to at least consider attending Biden’s swearing-in, hoping his presence will both reflect well on his character and help preserve his future influence but also convince Americans the election was fair.”
_________
NO. Let him stay away. That will reflect his true character, and the character-less-ness of you who cravenly support his every ridiculous whim.

Trump Says He’ll Never Accept Losing the Election
1:23 pm
In his first television interview since the Nov. 3 election, President Trump suggested that he will never accept his loss to Joe Biden and continued to fling baseless accusations of election fraud, the Washington Post reports.
Said Trump: “My mind will not change in six months. There was tremendous cheating here.”

Bonus Quote of the Day
1:20 pm EST
“This was not hardball, this was not even softball. This was tee-ball.”
— CNN media analyst Brian Stelter, quoted by Mediaite, criticizing the Fox Business host Maria Bartiroma for letting President Trump “lie and lie and lie” in her interview.
Trump Slams Judges’ Election Decisions
1:17 pm
“President Trump blasted judges’ rejections of his legal challenges to 2020 election results and said he couldn’t be certain any of his cases would make it to the Supreme Court in his first interview since Election Day on Sunday,” Fox News reports.
Said Trump:
“We’re not allowed to put in our proof. They say you don’t have standing. I would like to file one nice big beautiful lawsuit, talking about this and many other things, with tremendous proof. We have affidavits, we have hundreds and hundreds of affidavits.”
LOL. GO AHEAD.
TRUMP IS LEARNING THAT HE IS ONLY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, NOT THE LORD OF THE UNIVERSE WHO IS ABOVE ALL LAWS.
He added:
“You mean as president of the United States, I don’t have standing? What kind of a court system is this?”

Right wing whackadoodles puzzle the hell out of me, supporting one dumbass after another. If you'd have told me 12 years ago that I would be saying that George W. Bush was the best Republican President in this millennium, I'd have called you a fucking whackadoodle. And I'd have been right.
Happy bitching, Whackadoodles!
Obama will be seen by historians as a truly game changing President. Trump will be seen merely as a reaction to him whose misguided efforts will be reversed by Biden.
