With a largely confirmed natural immune response, it would be impossible to credit the vaccine for preventing illness. Also, were the study subjects tested for innate immunity bases on T-cell or B-cell activity? If not, it cannot be certain the vaccine was responsible for the lack of illness in any given subject.
And while it may not hurt, no science supports recovered patients getting vaccinated at this point or for compulsory immunization of children in the absence of a preexisting condition that would compromise their immune system.
However, it is not surprising to hear this from Dr. Fauci, considering he denied the outcome of at least two dozen studies on natural immunity in congressional testimony under direct questioning from Senator Rand Paul. Weird, since one of the studies was released from Fauci’s agency, the NIH. CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield also did not include this information when he said 90% of the population was still susceptible to COVID-19.
But never fear, Dr. Fauci expects to have the same or a larger role in the Biden administration COVID-19 response. He also supports national mask mandates and praised the response of America’s worst governor, New York’s Andrew Cuomo. It will be up to governors like Ron DeSantis in Florida and Brian Kemp in Georgia to defy any federal orders and litigate them. It is up to Congress to find out why the response isn’t being governed by accepted science.
Sad but Brooks sure has the GOP's number!!!!! Read balance at NY Times!!!! The reality of truth and facts escape the right in all thing they do!!!!! The 77% cheating explains the stupidity of Lil Schitt's statistics thread!!!!!
In a recent Monmouth University survey, 77 percent of Trump backers said Joe Biden had won the presidential election because of fraud. Many of these same people think climate change is not real. Many of these same people believe they don’t need to listen to scientific experts on how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
We live in a country in epistemological crisis, in which much of the Republican Party has become detached from reality. Moreover, this is not just an American problem. All around the world, rising right-wing populist parties are floating on oceans of misinformation and falsehood. What is going on?
Many people point to the internet — the way it funnels people into information silos, the way it abets the spread of misinformation. I mostly reject this view. Why would the internet have corrupted Republicans so much more than Democrats, the global right more than the global left?
My analysis begins with a remarkable essay that Jonathan Rauch wrote for National Affairs in 2018 called “The Constitution of Knowledge.” Rauch pointed out that every society has an epistemic regime, a marketplace of ideas where people collectively hammer out what’s real. In democratic, nontheocratic societies, this regime is a decentralized ecosystem of academics, clergy members, teachers, journalists and others who disagree about a lot but agree on a shared system of rules for weighing evidence and building knowledge.
This ecosystem, Rauch wrote, operates as a funnel. It allows a wide volume of ideas to get floated, but only a narrow group of ideas survive collective scrutiny. “We let alt-truth talk,” Rauch said, “but we don’t let it write textbooks, receive tenure, bypass peer review, set the research agenda, dominate the front pages, give expert testimony or dictate the flow of public dollars.”
Who the fuck is S. Johnson????? Another moronic Fauci hating Twitter asshole with nothing to say!!!!!!!! Yes he will be a welcome addition to the Biden team and you haters will continue your tirade of stupidity!!!!
This describes the loser R's here to a Tee!!!!!! IOW's Brooks calls you are dummies!!!!!
Under Trump, the Republican identity is defined not by a set of policy beliefs but by a paranoid mind-set. He and his media allies simply ignore the rules of the epistemic regime and have set up a rival trolling regime. The internet is an ideal medium for untested information to get around traditional gatekeepers, but it is an accelerant of the paranoia, not its source. Distrust and precarity, caused by economic, cultural and spiritual threat, are the source.
What to do? You can’t argue people out of paranoia. If you try to point out factual errors, you only entrench false belief. The only solution is to reduce the distrust and anxiety that is the seedbed of this thinking. That can only be done first by contact, reducing the social chasm between the members of the epistemic regime and those who feel so alienated from it. And second, it can be done by policy, by making life more secure for those without a college degree.
Trump Scoreboard. Still more American Lives, Jobs, and Money to lose. It will be a long 52 days.by Dennis R. Hill
Even though Trump lost the 2020 Presidential Election by over SIX (6)) MILLION VOTES, Donald Trump still has 52 more days to damage the United States Of America.
THE TRUMP SCOREBOARD:
Since Donald Trump has taken office, TRUMP'S FAILED LEADERSHIP HAS LOST AMERICA:
SEVEN (7) TRILLION 359 BILLION DOLLARS (Source - U.S. National Debt Clock) Trump's loss is the most money lost by any Leader of any Country in History, during a four (4) year period.
THREE (3) MILLION 414 THOUSAND AMERICAN JOBS (Source - U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) Trump is on track to be the 1st American President since Herbert Hoover to leave office with less American Jobs than he inherited when he took office.
272,284 AMERICAN LIVES TO COVID-19 (Source - worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/) Trump remains in 1st Place in the World in Covid-19 Deaths. The United States has 20% of the Total COVID-19 Deaths in the World, while only having 4.2% of the World's Population. The American people are 4.7 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than the rest of the World's Population, AND THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TESTING.
TRUMP DID NOT CARE ABOUT SAVING AMERICAN LIVES BEFORE THE ELECTION. HE CERTAINLY IS NOT GOING TO CARE ABOUT SAVING AMERICAN LIVES NOW.
‘My mind will not change in six months’: In first post-election TV interview, Trump renews baseless claims of voter fraud
November 29, 2020 at 9:24 a.m. PST
In his first television interview since the Nov. 3 election, President Trump suggested Sunday that he will never accept his loss to Democrat Joe Biden and continued to fling baseless accusations of election fraud.
“My mind will not change in six months,” Trump told host Maria Bartiromo by telephone on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.” “There was tremendous cheating here.”
Biden won the presidential race with 306 electoral votes — the same number as Trump had four years ago in what he and his aides described as a landslide at the time.
Biden’s victory was further solidified Sunday as the Wisconsin recount confirmed that he had bested Trump in the key swing state by more than 20,000 votes. The president and his legal team also have failed in court challenge after court challenge as they have sought to overturn the election.
Trump: ‘It’s going to be a very hard thing to concede’
President Trump on Nov. 26 said that he would leave the White House if the electoral college voted for President-elect Joe Biden next month.
In the Sunday interview, Trump said he is “going to use 125 percent of my energy” to continue to contest the results through the courts and signaled that he would be open to having a special counsel investigate the election. Any such appointment would be made by Attorney General William P. Barr.
Trump also voiced disbelief that Biden won more than 80 million votes, by far the most received by a presidential nominee. Barack Obama won in 2008 with nearly 70 million votes, a record that he didn’t beat in 2012, when he garnered just under 66 million votes. Four years later, Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton also didn’t surpass Obama’s 2008 total, winning 63 million and 66 million votes, respectively.
“Joe Biden did not get 80 million votes,” Trump declared Sunday, providing no evidence for his assertion. He claimed that some foreign leaders have been calling and telling him that this was the most “messed-up” election they have ever seen, although he did not name any of the leaders.
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — President-elect Joe Biden will have an all-female senior communications team at his White House, led by campaign communications director Kate Bedingfield.
Bedingfield will serve as Biden’s White House communications director, and Jen Psaki, a longtime Democratic spokeswoman, will be his press secretary. Psaki has already been working with Biden's team, serving as one of the main spokespeople for the transition. Both Bedingfield and Psaki are veterans of the Obama administration.
“Communicating directly and truthfully to the American people is one of the most important duties of a President, and this team will be entrusted with the tremendous responsibility of connecting the American people to the White House,” Biden said in a statement.
“These qualified, experienced communicators bring diverse perspectives to their work and a shared commitment to building this country back better,” he added.
Karine Jean Pierre, who was Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ chief of staff, will serve as a principal deputy press secretary for the president-elect.
