ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — When Joan Martin heard that Joe Biden had been declared the winner of the presidential election, the retired nurse and avowed supporter of President Donald Trump was deeply unsettled. To steel herself, she thought about how her household weathered Hurricane Katrina when it battered her hometown of Picayune, Mississippi, in 2005.

As the storm blew toward the town, Martin rushed out into her yard to carry her 85 show chickens to safety. Outside, howling winds lashed her family’s barn, lifting the edges of the roof off its moorings.

“The next day they (the chickens) were very concerned about the changes in the yard — we had trees down,” said Martin, 79. “They were very eyes-wide. But within two days, they said, ‘Oh, yeah, we can deal with this,’ and they did. So I have to follow their lead.”

Trump The Pied Piper of Covid-19

Posted on July 20, 2020 by Robert H Miller

The Pied Piper

Donald Trump is the Pied Piper of Covid-19. In case you need a refresher, the 13th century legend of the Pied Piper tells the cautionary tale of the townspeople of Hamelin, Germany. Rats had overrun the town, and they hired the Pied Piper to get rid of the rodents. But after the job was completed, they refused to pay him for his work. A year later the man returned to seek revenge. The town’s children, enchanted by the man gaily playing his flute and dancing down the street, followed him and were lured away, never to be seen again.

The term Pied Piper has come to mean someone whose personal charisma is so great that people will mindlessly follow him (or her), usually at their peril. Some believe the moral of this legend is that cheating people can have unpredictable and awful results. Others see the Pied Piper as a representation of death. But I also see it as the story of a man who sees himself as a victim and whose narcissism and lack of morality is so great, that he feels entitled to exact the most horrific revenge in order to soothe the insult to his ego.

Now we have our own Pied Piper in the person of our esteemed, Self-Proclaimed Wartime President, Donald Trump. He likes to present himself as the leader who rescued us from the scourge of Covid-19. And he feels victimized because he isn’t getting the gratitude, praise and acknowledgment he feels entitled to. His base and the Republican Party, apparently enchanted by his charisma, have followed him everywhere. As for whether—like the Pied Piper of Hamelin—he’ll lead them to dire outcomes, well let’s take a closer look.

Coronavirus Under Control

When we first heard in January that the novel Coronavirus was on the rise in China, our Medically Incompetent Leader assured us, the concerned citizens, there was nothing to fear. “It’s under control,” he said repeatedly. He often reiterated sentiments like, “We have very few people with it, and the people that have it are … getting better. They’re all getting better. … As far as what we’re doing with the new virus, I think that we’re doing a great job.”

Daily, almost through the middle of March, he reassured the citizenry that the virus was under control and would disappear “like a miracle” in April, when the weather warmed. Not only that, but the stock market was looking real good. That is until it wasn’t. On March 16th, the market suffered its worst one-day decline since the Black Monday crash of 1987. The stock market finally took note that Covid-19 was a significant threat to the economy. But that recognition didn’t last very long.

Will anyone feel sorry for this Power Couple when they return to NY and have nothing to do????????BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Just five short years ago Jared and Ivanka were dinner-party royalty here in Manhattan. It’s that kind of place. They had money, they had youth, they had celebrity. They were thin. I’m told that their manners were impeccable, so you’d never know that his father was an actual felon and her father a de facto one. Besides, you can’t hold family against someone, can you? We don’t choose how we’re born.

But from then on, we do make choices, and we’re accountable for those.

Jared and Ivanka are about to be held accountable.

They chose to tether their fortunes to her father’s, chose to go along for the ride, chose to see how far it could take them, because what if it took them all the way? What if Ivanka became the first female president, something that Manhattan acquaintances of hers assured me that she fantasized about, a giddy possibility that her father floated out loud.

With that crowning adventure — that climactic branding opportunity — dangling before her, she and Jared rationalized her father’s tantrums, fed his delusions, laundered his cruelty and kept her Instagram aglow with images from their fabulous new Washington life.

Maybe they will suffer the same fate as the old man!!!!!! Ignominy LOLOLOLOL

The Pied Piper

The Rising Death Toll

Despite the rising death toll, Trump continued to play down its seriousness while simultaneously praising the success of his administration’s efforts to keep the death toll down. As the confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States topped 1 million, and the more than 58,000 deaths surpassed the total of U.S. troop fatalities during the Vietnam War, the Trump anointed “Genius with the Great Portfolio but Little Talent,” son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, expressed frustration that the administration did not receive sufficient credit for its wonderful response to the virus. He described it as a “great success story.”

But it was clear that our Great Leader was already tiring from the great lockdown, which was stifling his reelection campaign plans. So, he began tweeting “Liberate Michigan,” “Liberate Minnesota, “Liberate Virginia” to remove their stay at home and other restrictions. And his followers responded with some gun-carrying, Confederate flag protests.

The U.S. was outpacing the rest of the world in the number of cases of and deaths from Covid-19. Nonetheless, the Complainer in Chief began advocating for all states to reopen without regard to guidelines issued by the administration’s own CDC, and many did, particularly in the Trump supporting states in the south and west.

Looking Through Rose Colored Glasses

Growth in employment in June, reversing previous months declines, proved to Trump that his policies on reopening were working. Surely, things would be “rocking” by July, just as LT (little talent) Jared had predicted. Meanwhile the stock market put its rose colored glasses back on and resumed its upward climb.

Despite a soaring number of cases and deaths, everything looked rosy to the Failure-to- Face-Reality star, Trump. It was time to satisfy the unexpressed demands of his fans to see him at a campaign rally. So in the face of unprecedented but false demand for tickets, his Tulsa rally was marked by a “no-show” of 2/3 of arena capacity, or more than 12,000, just to fill the arena, let alone the overflow stands outside.

Reports of his fury leaked out. People were supposed to be willing to risk the virus, even dying, for a chance to see him in person. He was being victimized by the media reporting on the virus, by Dr. Fauci and by the virus itself. His loyal fans in Phoenix would repair his bruised ego. And they tried. The spike in Covid-19 cases wasn’t going to interfere with their undying (oops—perhaps dying) loyalty to this self-absorbed individual.

Alas, Covid is not a fan, and cases spiked in Oklahoma and Arizona. But those were not the only states to experience spikes in Covid-19 cases. The disease spread like wildfire in Texas, Florida, California and Georgia. The cause: opening up the economy too soon at Trump’s urging but in violation of the administration’s own guidelines, and later, unmasked indoor Trump rallies and to a lesser extent, masked outdoor protests.

Fox News' Eric Shawn interjected during an interview with Axios co-founder Mike Allen as a handwritten poster board sign was held up.

"We just saw a very disturbing sign, it said, 'Coming for Blacks and Indians first, welcome to the New World Order,'" Shawn remarked. Shawn called out the sign as Allen discussed how he believes Republicans can cajole Trump out of the White House before President-elect Joe Biden is set to take office on January 20, 2021. Social media users immediately expressed similar concern over the message of the Washington D.C. demonstrators.

Funny Reverend...

But when you talk to Trump supporters, they are Trump supporters for the very reason that they believe he is one of the very few Politicians willing to stand up for them and fight for what they see as important.

They see liberals as they are (people wanting to control other people, speak for other people, and tell everyone how they should feel) and they see most Republicans as unwilling to stand up to it.

So with all due respect... liberals have no fucking clue why Trump supporters are Trump supporters. More to the point, they don't care about most of the nonsense that liberals care about. They care about jobs, security, law, order, and the freedom to go about their lives without being constantly told what to do, what to say, and how to think.

So perhaps the "gaslighting" here is by your typical liberal who wants to (once again) explain to you how other people feel (when they have no clue) and are simply pissed off that enough people stood up for Trump that whatever "Blue wave" was supposed to happen turned into more of a Pink wave.

Think about it... this election was technically closer than the 2016 election. It would have taken "less" votes changing to provide Trump with a win than it would have to provide Clinton with a win.

Had there been a Green Party candidate on the ballot in 2020, then it's very likely that Trump would have won Georgia, Wisconsin and quite possibly even Pennsylvania. Imagine had Trump been reelected, the GOP held the Senate, and won double digit pickup in the House... we would have been talking about "coattails".

This was "NOT" what Democrats had hoped for, and there is a really really good chance that Democrats lose the House in 2020.

Ch, the rich ruling class are taking advantage of the people of this country and taking advantage of the fact that Trump has been a spearhead for them. He is a liar who has a knack for riling people up against perceived enemies, and taking their minds off their real enemies, the greedy, selfish rich. The biggest lie Trump ever told, in my opinion, took place while he was campaigning and he promised that he would make the wealthy pay more in taxes because, he said, "they should."

He lied. He never did that. He never kept that promise.

It is time for the American people to rise up against the smokescreen lie that our biggest enemies are blacks, immigrants, minorities, etc. and see that our biggest enemies are the corporate financiers who no longer feel that they have any obligation at all to our greater society, but are only interested in extending their own greedy, selfish profit margins as far as they can, no matter how much that hurts our greater populace.

We need someone to focus the rage of Trump's followers on their true enemies: the rich, selfish, greedy ruling class.

Trump Rushes to Auction Drilling Rights
11:47 am
“The Trump administration has called for oil and gas firms to pick spots where they want to drill in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as it races to open the pristine wilderness to development and lock in drilling rights before President-elect Joe Biden takes office,” the Washington Post reports.

“The ‘call for nominations’ to be published Tuesday allows companies to identify tracts to bid on during an upcoming lease sale on the refuge’s nearly 1.6-million-acre coastal plain, a sale that the Interior Department aims to hold before Biden takes the oath of office in January. The move would be a capstone of President Trump’s efforts to open up public lands to logging, mining and grazing — something Biden strongly opposes.”

Barack Obama: I’m not yet ready to abandon the possibility of America

The threats to American democracy—and to the broader cause of freedom—are many, he said. He was withering on the subject of Donald Trump, but acknowledged that Trump himself is not the root of the issue. “I’m not surprised that somebody like Trump could get traction in our political life,” he said. “He’s a symptom as much as an accelerant. But if we were going to have a right-wing populist in this country, I would have expected somebody a little more appealing.”

Trump, Obama noted, is not exactly an exemplar of traditional American manhood. “I think about the classic male hero in American culture when you and I were growing up: the John Waynes, the Gary Coopers, the Jimmy Stewarts, the Clint Eastwoods, for that matter. There was a code … the code of masculinity that I grew up with that harkens back to the ’30s and ’40s and before that. There’s a notion that a man is true to his word, that he takes responsibility, that he doesn’t complain, that he isn’t a bully—in fact he defends the vulnerable against bullies. And so even if you are someone who is annoyed by wokeness and political correctness and wants men to be men again and is tired about everyone complaining about the patriarchy, I thought that the model wouldn’t be Richie Rich—the complaining, lying, doesn’t-take-responsibility-for-anything type of figure.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

There are good Republicans unlike Scott etc.

President Trump ’s national security adviser, Robert O’Brien, on Monday said there will be a “professional transition” to President-elect Joe Biden ’s administration despite Trump’s refusal to concede that he lost the election.

Speaking to The Hill’s editor-at-large Steve Clemons at the Global Security Forum, O’Brien left open the possibility that Trump could still win a second term if the courts determine there was widespread fraud.

But O’Brien said it appears clear, at the moment, that Biden and running mate Kamala Harris won the election and should be given the time they need to get their people and policies in place.

“If there is a new administration, they deserve some time to come in and implement their policies,” O’Brien said. “We may have policy disagreements but look, if the Biden-Harris ticket is determined to be the winner — and obviously things look that way now — we’ll have a very professional transition from the National Security Council. There’s no question about it.”

O’Brien’s remarks about Biden’s victory were not unequivocal. He was careful to note throughout the interview that the transition would only take place “if the current lawsuits don't work out for the president.”

But O’Brien’s tone and message differ sharply from other senior national security officials in the Trump administration, such as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo , who has said that the only transition would be to “a second Trump administration.”

The General Services Administration (GSA) has so far declined to ascertain that Biden won the election even though he’s projected to have won by a comfortable margin in the Electoral College.

There is a recount underway in Georgia and one is possible in Wisconsin, although Trump trails in both states by thousands of votes and the results are unlikely to be changed.

The president’s campaign is flooding those states and other battlegrounds with legal challenges, making unsubstantiated claims that the election was stolen through widespread corruption and fraud.

Legal experts do not expect those challenges to dramatically alter the election results. However, Trump’s refusal to concede has delayed Biden’s transition efforts.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is waiting on the GSA to ascertain Biden as the winner before giving the president-elect national security briefings.

Ascertainment is also needed to free up transition resources and to give access to workspace for the incoming administration.

Democrats, and even some Republicans, are warning that refusal to give Biden access to government intelligence is putting American national security at risk.

The 9/11 Commission report following the protracted legal fight over the outcome of the 2000 election between President George W. Bush and Democrat Al Gore determined that a smooth transition process is critical to keeping the nation secure.

“The great thing in the United States of America, we’ve passed the baton and had peaceful successful transitions even in the most contentious periods,” O’Brien said. “I’m old enough to remember Bush v. Gore, and the transition there didn’t start until mid-December, and yet it got done. And if we’re in a situation where we’re not going into a Trump second term, which I think people, where I’m sitting in the White House, would like to see, if it’s another outcome, it will be a professional transition, there’s no question about it.”

O’Brien also expressed confidence in Biden’s foreign policy staff, describing them as deeply experienced from their work in prior administrations.

“They’re going to have very professional folks who are coming in to take these positions, many of whom have been here before and spent a lot of time in the White House in prior administrations,” O’Brien said.

1. The Cost of Donald Trump’s Petulance

Jeffrey Goldberg: How much of the death and destruction we’ve seen—over the past five or six months especially, after the beginning of the pandemic—do you blame on President Trump?

Barack Obama: This would have been a really hard thing to deal with for any president, and we’ve seen countries that have acted responsibly and taken the right steps and they’re still seeing an uptick, because we haven’t seen this disease before. This is a really well-designed virus to maximize damage. This is not as deadly as Ebola, it doesn’t transmit as rapidly, but it is just deadly enough that it takes a huge toll.

What I think is fair is to take a look at what’s happened in Canada, where they still have had big problems but their death rate per capita is about 61 percent lower than ours. There are a whole set of explanations around that—universal health care in Canada, and in some areas they may not have the same population densities. But it is a comparable country on the same continent.

There is little doubt that if we had had a White House that from the start had said, “Let’s follow the science, let’s take this seriously”—if they had reinforced the message coming from people like [National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director] Dr. Fauci and not politicized basic preventive measures like wearing masks, if they had not been intent on rushing the reopening and downplaying the severity of the pandemic across the primary channels that a big chunk of the country gets its news from—some lives could have been saved and we would have had better control of this.

It’s also fair to say that had we taken better steps to contact-trace and set up testing protocols earlier, it is likely that we would not have seen severe outbreaks everywhere and we might have been able to reduce the severity of the pandemic in certain portions of the country.

The good news is that Joe Biden’s chief of staff, Ron Klain, was my point person on Ebola. He knows how to work on these big public-health issues, and they’ve already surrounded themselves with the right people who are going to be applying the very best science and technology and organizational measures to this problem. The vaccine looks hopeful. It’s going to be a challenge both distributing it and also overcoming some of the mistrust that has developed from misinformation and bad messaging early on. We’ll get through this. But we’re making it harder than it should be. It would have been hard no matter what, but we’ve made it harder.

The last real Republican!

QAnon[a] (/ˌkjuːəˈnɒn/) is a far-right conspiracy theory[b] alleging that a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles is running a global child sex-trafficking ring and plotting against US President Donald Trump, who is fighting the cabal.[2] QAnon also commonly asserts that Trump is planning a day of reckoning known as the "Storm", when thousands of members of the cabal will be arrested.[3][4] No part of the conspiracy claim is based in fact.[5][6][7][8] QAnon supporters have accused many liberal Hollywood actors, Democratic politicians, and high-ranking government officials of being members of the cabal.[9] They have also claimed that Trump feigned conspiracy with Russians to enlist Robert Mueller to join him in exposing the sex trafficking ring and preventing a coup d'état by Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and George Soros.[10][11]

Antifa has been criticized by the coldheartedtruthblog.blogspot.

He said they are hate criminals. And Black Lives Matter is socialist

But the fact is hate crimes come from the right wing and anti semitic elements.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hate crimes in the U.S. rose to the highest level in more than a decade as federal officials also recorded the highest number of hate-motivated killings since the FBI began collecting that data in the early 1990s, according to an FBI report released Monday.

There were 51 hate crime murders in 2019, which includes 22 people who were killed in a shooting that targeted Mexicans at a Walmart in the border city of El Paso, Texas, the report said. The suspect in that August 2019 shooting, which left two dozen other people injured, was charged with both state and federal crimes in what authorities said was an attempt to scare Hispanics into leaving the United States.

There were 7,314 hate crimes last year, up from 7,120 the year before — and approaching the 7,783 of 2008. The FBI’s annual report defines hate crimes as those motivated by bias based on a person’s race, religion or sexual orientation, among other categories.

Some of the 2019 increases may be the result of better reporting by police departments, but law enforcement officials and advocacy groups don’t doubt that hate crimes are on the rise. The Justice Department has for years been specifically prioritizing hate crime prosecutions.

The data also shows there was a nearly 7% increase in religion-based hate crimes, with 953 reports of crimes targeting Jews and Jewish institutions last year, up from 835 the year before. The FBI said the number of hate crimes against African Americans dropped slightly to 1,930, from 1,943.

Anti-Hispanic hate crimes, however, rose to 527 in 2019, from 485 in 2018. And the total number of hate crimes based on a person’s sexual orientation stayed relatively stable, with one fewer crime reported last year, compared with the year before, though there were 20 more hate crimes against gay men reported.

As the data was made public on Monday, advocacy groups, including the Anti-Defamation League, called on Congress and law enforcement agencies across the U.S. to improve data collection and reporting of hate crimes. Critics have long warned that the data may be incomplete, in part because it is based on voluntary reporting by police agencies across the country.

Last year, only 2,172 law enforcement agencies out of about 15,000 participating agencies across the country reported hate crime data to the FBI, the bureau said. And while the number of agencies reporting hate crimes increased, the number of agencies participating in the program actually dropped from the year before. A large number of police agencies appeared not to submit any hate crime data, which has been a consistent struggle for Justice Department officials.

2. Where did this come from?

QAnon shares roots with the so-called PizzaGate conspiracy theory that took hold during the 2016 presidential campaign; it held that top Democrats including Hillary Clinton, Trump’s presidential opponent, were involved in a child sex-trafficking ring operating out of a Washington pizza restaurant.
I think rrb posted (One follower drove from North Carolina to Washington to “self-investigate” the theory and fired an assault rifle into a closet at the restaurant.) In October 2017, almost one year after Trump’s surprise win, someone using the name Q hinted on the pseudo-anonymous discussion board 4chan -- a platform known for perpetuating white nationalism -- that Clinton’s arrest was imminent. After that claim proved unfounded, Q continued to post cryptic content termed “drops,” which get deciphered into plain English.

antifa AND BLM are domestic terrorists. and BLM are marxists, exponentially worse than garden variety socialists by a long shot, imho. and in case you have not noticed they have no interest in slow joe's "healing and unity." and that's just fine with me, because neither do i.

we should be shooting them. center mass. as in shoot to kill.

period. full stop.

the Trump ralliers who showed up in DC bothered no one, and everything was fine until antifa/BLM showed up.

antifa & BLM are simply motivated by straight up HATE. HATE for everyone who does not tow their marxist line. something conveniently NOT measured in terms of a person’s race, religion or sexual orientation.

To be fair, conservatives do share false information from time to time, as do their opponents on the Left. It is important to combat fake news and misinformation. However, much of the recent crackdown on “misinformation” often boils down to a biased interpretation of the facts and a demand that Facebook and Twitter brook no dissent from the Left’s narrative.

Some people may have bad motives for supporting Trump, and the president has told his share of falsehoods. However, that does not mean that every Trump supporter is motivated by fake news or irrational hatred. There are good reasons to disagree with the Left’s orthodoxy on climate change, Marxist critical race theory, abortion, relations with Israel, and so many other issues.

Support for Trump does not boil down to “misinformation,” and further attempts from the legacy media and Big Tech to silence dissent from the Left’s orthodoxy will only enflame partisan fear, not defuse it. And get the Orange Monster out!

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A woman who sat on the Breonna Taylor grand jury said she believes their investigation was incomplete and that prosecutors wanted to give police “a slap on the wrist and close it up.”

The woman is the third grand juror to speak anonymously about the September proceedings, joining two others who said the 12-member panel was not given the option to consider charges against the officers who fatally shot Taylor in March.

The woman, in her first published interview, told The Associated Press that when the proceedings concluded with three wanton endangerment charges for one officer, she felt herself saying “no, that's not the end of it.”

“I felt like there should've been more charges,” she said in a phone interview. She echoed two other grand jurors' complaints that the panel wasn't allowed to consider additional charges because prosecutors told them the use of force was justified.

Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) has declined an invitation to debate Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff ahead of January runoff elections for both of the state’s Senate seats.

The Atlanta Press Club said Perdue, who is seeking a second term, will be “represented by an empty podium” at the Dec. 6 debate. Perdue’s decision to skip the debate was first reported by The New Yorker on Sunday.

“The Atlanta Press Club’s Loudermilk-Young Debate Series is disappointed that Sen. David Perdue has decided to not participate in his debate,” the press club said in a statement.

The statement continued: “Jon Ossoff has confirmed his participation, so according to our rules, we will proceed with the debate and Sen. Perdue will be represented by an empty podium. That is not our preference.”

Jon Ossoff will win.

But the other seat unless the Democrats flood Georgia will advertising and get out the vote door to door.

Trump isn't on the ballot, but his supporters will turn out in record numbers.

Not unlike European far-right populist and authoritarian leaders, this genre of Republicans operates in the world of lies and conspiracies, fanning antagonism toward expertise and a free press. They will propound anything, no matter how objectively inane, if it serves their purpose of emotional manipulation. This cultlike operation requires a propaganda machine able to block out reality and produce material for familiar tropes (e.g., loss of “their” history, obliteration of traditional values, decline of Christianity, “replacement” by immigrants). The machine can be manned by dimwitted true believers or by moguls who found a lucrative niche in the ecosphere.

What the Reality Caucus can no longer do is pretend that they have an overlapping vision or shared values with the Right-wing Nationalists — the cultists, the white supremacists and the purveyors of nonstop lies. The longer the Reality Caucus members fool themselves and remain in an alliance with Right-wing Nationalists, the more they enable and empower the latter, further fraying the fabric of constitutional government. It is time for the Reality Caucus to make a decision and choose its strategy. The status quo is unsustainable.
