“Let this grim era of demonization in America begin to end here and now.” — President-elect Joe Biden, quoted by the New York Times, during his victory speech.
It didn’t take long for the local baseball team to come a-calling.
As Biden delivered his victory speech on Saturday night, the Washington Nationals posted an invitation for Biden to throw out the first pitch on opening day of the 2021 season.
HERE'S MORE DEMONIZATION Many Trump Supporters Insist Election Isn’t Over 7:15 am The Washington Post: “Activists and supporters of President Trump insisted Saturday that the presidential election was not finished, displaying defiance after Joe Biden secured victory in the closely fought race.
“From here in the Arizona desert to Philadelphia, Trump backers echoed the president’s attacks on the integrity of the election, which continued Saturday with his statement that ‘this election is far from over.’ They made baseless allegations of voter fraud and pledged to keep fighting in court while claiming Biden did not legitimately win.”
Twitter: Netanyahu Congratulates Biden 8:06 am More than 12 hours after the U.S. television networks called the presidential race for Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted his congratulations to the president elect.
Said Netanyahu: “Joe, we’ve had a long & warm personal relationship for nearly 40 years, and I know you as a great friend of Israel. I look forward to working with both of you to further strengthen the special alliance between the U.S. and Israel.”
CNN: “Concessions by losing presidential candidates are an important American tradition, helping to legitimize the winner and affirm the democratic process.
“Trump, though, appears uninterested in playing a part in that tradition, instead bent on tearing down that process on his way out of the White House.”
Dan Rather: We have a new president. After all that we have seen and endured, amidst pain and outrage, loss and danger, we now will enter a new chapter in our national story.
The nature of our electoral system had a nation, and the world, waiting anxiously on the vote in a handful of states, nevermind that the general will of the American people has delivered a much more overwhelming verdict. There will be a lot more to say in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Amidst the fatigue and the uncertainty of the future, we must stay steady and resolute in finding a way to heal and move our nation forward to tackle its many challenges.
There are a lot of looming dangers, political and otherwise. There are senate runoffs and a raging pandemic. What will Donald Trump do? What about his enablers in the Republican Party? What about our public health and our national sanity? The questions start gushing like an open fire hydrant. But for now, the voting system held, a president-elect has been declared and America has a different destiny. #Courage.
This is why CH CH posted pictures of invalid ballots.
Lindsey Graham has still yet to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden following his election victory over President Donald Trump and is instead continuing to seek further legal challenges over disputed claims of alleged mass voter fraud.
In the hours after several news outlets including Fox News and the Associated Press had declared that Biden had won the election, Graham issued a statement stating he had received an affidavit from a postal worker in the key state of Pennsylvania claiming post office supervisors had a plan to “backdate ballots mailed after the election.”
Graham said that he will be calling on the Department of Justice and the U.S. Postal Service to investigate these claims after receiving the allegations from Richard Hopkins, a postal worker in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that Democrats have “stolen” the election and that there has been widespread voter fraud, despite not offering any proof. In the past, substantiated examples of voter fraud have been found to have been minuscule.
Mail-in vote counting in Pennsylvania, a state which did not start counting until Election Day and has a three-stage system of counting to ensure accuracy and combat fraud, became a key issue this year as millions more votes were cast through the post because of COVID-19.
“It is imperative that all credible allegations of voting irregularities and misconduct be investigated to ensure the integrity of the 2020 elections,” Graham said.
“The presidential election remains close in multiple states, and as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, all credible allegations of voting irregularities and misconduct will be taken seriously. I will not allow credible allegations of voting irregularities or misconduct to be swept under the rug.
“The expanded use of mail-in voting is making the post office the administrator of elections, not the local election officials. This change in mission requires there to be further scrutiny to ensure the system is beyond reproach.
“Every American should want our election processes to work accurately, and given the recency of such a large volume of mail-in voting, that will require oversight. Election outcomes are not determined by media outlets but certified, accurate vote counts.
“Officials in Pennsylvania should take allegations from Mr. Hopkins and others seriously before certifying a final outcome.”
Graham is one of a number of Republicans who have not congratulated Biden on his win, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. According to The Washington Post, McConnell plans to say little in public about Biden’s win until he sees how serious some of the legal challenges against his victory are.
“Here’s how this must work in our great country: Every legal vote should be counted. Any illegally-submitted ballots must not. All sides must get to observe the process. And the courts are here to apply the laws & resolve disputes,” McConnell tweeted on Friday.

Toward the end of the thread "Election Updates--still counting Friday" I provided an article in two parts (two posts) describing the NC situation.
