This is actually a pretty great insight about Social Media

They are legally treated more like an internet provider or phone company than a media website

Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are all playing the same game, pretending to be a neutral forum under federal law, like an ISP or the phone company, while working feverishly to suppress conservative commentary and any news stories that reflect badly on the Democratic Party. (link)

This is actually probably the best manner to look at it. The federal protections that Twitter enjoys under the law is actually similar (if not the same) as the protection that your internet provider or phone company enjoys. What is stated on the internet or said over the phone is not the responsibility of Comcast or Sprint. Comcast and Sprint are simply providing you with the "means" of communicating over the internet or the phone. No matter what nefarious activity you are planning, releasing, or exposing over these forums, the providers are not expected to monitor or censor your communications. Because they are not expected to monitor or censor your behavior, they cannot be held responsible for said behavior.

Section 230 provides this same sort of protection for social media sites. What is said on a social media site is not the responsibility of Facebook or Twitter, any more than it would be the responsibility of Comcast or Sprint. Facebook and Twitter (like your other providers) are just providing a means to communicate. In the case of social media the means is a public forum. Neither Facebook or Twitter technically (under 230) publishes anything themselves.

The fact that Facebook or Twitter are private companies is no different than Comcast or Sprint being private companies. Because of the fact that they not held legally responsible for the behavior of the people using their service, they are not entitled to monitor or otherwise censor the behavior of those using it. If you were to suggest that Twitter (because they are private) can ban or otherwise censor speech, then the same could hold true for internet and phone providers.

Does anyone really want your internet or phone providers to be monitoring your everyday behavior and picking and choosing what you can and cannot type online or say over your phone?  Unless you are prepared for that sort of Orwellian 1984 big brother fascism, you should not be in favor of allowing Facebook or Twitter to do the same. The slope is very slippery and very dangerous.

The King of Trump TV Thinks You’re Dumb Enough to Buy It

Chris Ruddy, the C.E.O. of Newsmax, has found a business opportunity in feeding Trump supporters the fantasy that the president could still win the election.

Why is the Right so concerned that all across the board and in all media and social commentary there is going to be a crack down on out and out lying?

Answer:
That is how Trump has "succeeded" (until now),
and he has done so to such a degree that the GOP has been dragged into it with him.

So that now Republicanism lives in darkness.

Since the election, surveys have consistently found that about 70% to 80% of Republicans don’t buy the results. They don’t agree that Joe Biden won fair and square. They say the election was rigged. And they say enough fraud occurred to tip the outcome.

Those numbers sound alarmingly high, and they imply that the overwhelming majority of people in one political party in America doubt the legitimacy of a presidential election. But the reality is more complicated, political scientists say. Research has shown that the answers that partisans (on the left as well as on the right) give to political questions often reflect not what they know as fact, but what they wish were true. Or what they think they should say.

It is incredibly hard to separate sincere belief from wishful thinking from what political scientists call partisan cheerleading. But on this topic especially, the distinctions matter a lot. Are Republican voters merely expressing support for the president by standing by his claims of fraud — in effectively the same way Republicans in Congress have — or have they accepted widespread fraud as true? Do these surveys suggest a real erosion in faith in American elections, or something more familiar, and temporary?

The Biden administration may bring halfbaked punditry to an end.

The incoming Biden administration brings hope to tens of millions of people for a decent human being in the White House, a normal foreign policy (in which allies are respected and despots checked) and a level of competency that may effectively deliver a life-saving vaccine — to name just a few of the potential benefits. But the end of the election also offers us an opportunity to recalibrate and remember that what matters in politics is what happens after the election. Campaigns are a means to an end. Returning to a level of seriousness and focus on the substance of governance is long overdue in media coverage. Thanks to Biden’s substantial win, we now have the opportunity — and the obligation to do just that.

CH online security has been difficult. If I purchase something on Amazon prime I see advertisements for similar products.

But with the exception of porn and nudes, you can say anything you want on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram.

Not only do they censor content, suspend accounts, but they also ban users for content that is not porn, nude, or violence. Did you know that Twitter is actually trying to block people from following each other through the use of "trains" (follow and follow back requests). They have started suspending or even full out banning accounts because of how they "grow" their followers?

I have lost nearly 1000 followers since Twitter started "cracking down" on dangerous content. I check accounts as they get suspended and never see anything that has porn, nudity, violence or anything else.

But I did see Twitter flag a video for dangerous content that was quite literally a collage of pictures of Trump rallies and the Lee Greenwood song (God bless the USA). It was LITERALLY deemed "dangerous".

The fact that you have not seen your followers banned, suspended or otherwise censored is simply proof that it is one sided.

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS!!!!!!!! Trump rallies with thousand packed densely together without masks is a dangerous thing to do !!!!! And you don't.......no surprise there Lil Schitty the loser!!!!!

This was from a few months ago and the video was showing old 2016 Trump rallies... Denny.

But assuming what you say is true and Twitter should censor dangerous Covid activity, then why was twitter not censoring or banning BLM protest videos?

You are a fucking idiot!
