Is there statistical cause for suspicion in Fulton and Gwinnett counties?

A lot has been made of the situations in Fulton and Gwinnett counties and the fact that both counties engaged in the election night action of leaving ballot counters behind to continue to count ballots "after" election poll watchers and other observers were sent home. I don't really feel that this can really be disputed anymore.

  • We have seen the video in Fulton. There is no mistaking that the ballot counters were working without supervision. There is no mistaking that they pulled ballot boxes from under a table "after" everyone had left, that arguably appear "hidden". Whether or not this was innocent business as usual or a nefarious plot to cheat is a matter of opinion.
  • In Gwinnett we know that election poll watchers were sent home because of water main leak. There has been no actual evidence that there ever really was a main water leak and no evidence that anyone fixed such a leak. We also know that Gwinnett county sent updated totals to the SOS website "after" those poll watchers left, making it pretty much a good bet that they also were there counting ballots.

The one thing we know for certain is that Joe Biden won big in these two counties. But we also know that he was expected to win big in these two counties, just as Democrats have always won big. We also know that big city counts were hit and miss for Biden across the country. In some places he appeared to struggle, even against 2016. In other places... well we have this:

Now certainly an increase is normal. Obviously there was high turnout all over the country.

But there is a law of diminishing returns when your variables start to approach the max value as you have an absolute restriction on potential voters and a limit to how many votes you can get.  So to increase your turnout by 10% is way easier than to increase it by 15%. To increase it from 15% to 20% is even harder. As you get higher, each individual percentage point requires you to garner a much higher percentage of the previous "non-voters" that are left.

To use a simple example. If you have 1000 potential voters and in one election you got 75% turnout. That would mean that 750 voted and 250 did not.

To get to 80% you would need to convince 20% of the 250 non-voters (or an additional 50) to vote this time which would bring you to 80% and leave only 200 non-voters left.

But now get to 85% turnout you would still need 50 more voters, but that is now 25% of what is left (50 out of 200), rather than only 20% (50 out of 250). Also you are down to only 150 non-voters left. To get to 90%, it now requires you to garner a third of the non-voters (50 out of 150). To get to 95% would require half of all the remaining non-voters, etc, etc...

So it's not a linear thing. The difference between a 20% increase in turnout and nearly a 30% increase in turnout is an extremely significant difference. That extra 10% percent required a huge number of the remaining non-voters to come out. This percentage of increase is also makes it harder when Trump is also increasing his own vote total, because it make it less likely that Biden flipped many voters (which is generally needed to see such big gains).

But Gwinnett?  To see a nearly 46% increase in votes for one candidate as we did in Gwinnett is a herculean task of statistical significance.

But was it consistent?

Well in Dekalb county, another big Democratic stronghold in Georgia where we did not garner any complaints about broken water pipes or late night unsupervised ballot county, we saw this:

Biden still did better than Trump in his improvement over 2016 (21% to 14%), but the numbers were much more consistent with what we saw in the election as a whole, and what we typically saw in most big Democratic countries across the country.

So what would have happened if Fulton and Gwinnett had similar numbers as Dekalb? Well we would have seen about 64,000 less Biden votes and approximately the same amount of Trump votes. We would have seen a Trump victory and likely David Perdue stays over 50% and avoids the run-off.

Looking at some of the medium sized counties where Biden and Clinton did well, you see similar numbers, with the percentage of increase being both smaller for Biden and trending more equally between the two candidates. These also look more like the rest of the election numbers.

Bottom line:

While Fulton is certainly a statistical anomaly, Gwinnett is alarmingly off the mark from what you should have otherwise expected. Getting from that increase from 21-23% to 29% is extremely difficult and likely pretty improbable when you are talking about the sheer number of voters you need to accomplish this in a county the size of Fulton. But getting that same sort of number to 45% in Gwinnett is almost statistically impossible, at least not without some help.

So yeah, there is a statistical cause for suspicion in those two particular counties, and as they say... there is no such thing as coincidence.

No, there were no 'suitcases of ballots' counted in secret.

The most viral claim from the hearing is a 90-second clip of surveillance footage from Fulton County's tabulation center set up at State Farm Arena. Culled from hours of vote counting, the short clip allegedly shows election workers bringing suitcases of ballots out from underneath a table to be counted in secret after Republican monitors were told to go home.

But that's not what was shown and the claims misunderstand the laws and rules around counting.

State and county officials, including investigators for the secretary of state's office, said that the video clip making the rounds show the normal tabulation process. No monitors were told to leave, but Republican monitors and members of the media left when some election employees called "cutters" wrapped up for the night.

Georgia law § 21-2-408 spells out the rules for partisan poll watchers, allowing them to be present and monitor aspects of the elections process. But having monitors there is not required — and in fact, Democrats did not have monitors present at that time.

As for the so-called suitcase full of ballots allegedly removed from under the table? It was empty, the state's investigator said.

"There wasn't a bin that had ballots in it under the table," Frances Watson told Lead Stories. "It was an empty bin and the ballots from it were actually out on the table when the media were still there, and then it was placed back into the box when the media were still there and placed next to the table."

Furthermore, elections officials say there was nothing abnormal about the tabulation of ballots shown on the video.

"What the video shows is that they have pulled out plastic bins from underneath the desks," Fulton elections director Rick Barron said Friday morning. "It was normal processing that occurred there, as Gabe Sterling from the state explained this morning."

Sterling, the state's voting system implementation manager, said that investigators for the state watched the full surveillance video from Election Day and said those bins of ballots were already there and accounted for earlier in the day, while both monitors and the media were there.

A monitor appointed by the state election board had also briefly left and returned at 11:52 p.m. and another state investigator was there starting at 12:15 a.m. The final ballots were scanned around 12:43 a.m.

So no ballots were illegally counted in secret, there was no "suitcase" of ballots being added into the totals. The clip is misleading and the claims untrue.

I don’t know when Gwinnett went blue. I was born and raised in Lilburn went to Parkview HS, that was one of the reddest counties in this state. It was full of Northeasterners that left over busing and the rust belt after Carter crushed the economy. It was the one of fastest growing counties in the country for 20 years from the late 70’s to early 90’s. 72,000 pop in 1970 to 950k now.

I rarely venture out there anymore since my grandparents passed and their farms, in Snellville and Lawrenceville, became cookie cutter housing developments.

The water leak was originally reported as a burst pipe, but days later officials corrected themselves to say it was a leaky toilet spilling water into a room with ballots early on Election Day.

“It looked really like there was rain coming out of the ceiling and the entire carpeting was just covered in water,” Fulton elections head Richard Barron said previously.

It wasn't a deep state conspiracy to count thousands of ballots in favor of Biden.

Did I? Where exactly did I claim that that the 10% was fraudulent ballots?

I am simply suggesting that a nearly 30% increase in vote totals in Fulton County and the 45% increase in Gwinnett did not exist in the other large and medium to large Pro-Democratic counties.

I am also suggesting that such large increases are much more difficult to statistically justify when we are talking the difference between 20% and 30% or even 45%. If we were going looking at the baseline normal increase being 5% across the board, then 15% or 20% would actually be less suspicious (even if it appears statistically higher).

So what I am doing, Roger...

Is pointing out that in the exact same counties that appeared to have defied the SOS office and continued to count after everyone else was sent home both showed very high number of Biden votes that appear statistically improbable.

You can choose to believe what you want about them... but it's obvious that just laying out these facts makes you believe that these facts suggest fraud...

or you wouldn't accuse me of suggesting it (when I didn't).

Did FDR use cocaine before his “Infamy” speech?

Right now you are probably thinking that this is a ridiculous question. Actually, it’s not.

There is a good chance that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was given cocaine before his famous “Day of Infamy” speech.

On December 7th and 8th, FDR was suffering from a severe sinus infection. His doctor and friend Ross T. McIntire was with him to treat the problem.

Dr. McIntire’s intent was to improve his patient’s ability to breathe by decreasing the swelling of nasal mucosa without causing crusting.

It is not known exactly what procedure was that McIntire used to decrease swelling in the President’s nose. He was seen using cotton swabs, and it is likely that he also irrigated the sinuses by putting a needle up the nose and injecting saline into the sinus cavity.

At the time, it was common for doctors to use cocaine in these treatments. Cocaine was illegal for recreational use in the United States, but it was legal in medical treatments. Cocaine would shrink the tissue, giving the patient quick relief. It also numbed the area making the insertion of the needle less painful.

Again, we do not know for certain whether or not Dr. McIntire used cocaine when treating FDR’s sinus infection, but we know that he received medical treatment to ease his suffering during his “Day of Infamy” speech.

If he had used cocaine, it would have been highly diluted, most likely not having any noticeable affect or measurable impact on the President. Furthermore, it is believed that if FDR used cocaine he would not have been told.

There are two reasons why President Roosevelt would not be told of the treatments. First, it was common to not tell patients who were administered cocaine, in the belief that by not telling them they would be less likely to become addicted.

Second, being a sensitive topic, Dr. McIntire would not have wanted to expose his friend to any political controversy.

We may never know whether FDR used cocaine. But we do know that it was a great speech.

Trump Calls Kemp to Pressure Him to Overturn Vote
2:01 pm EST
“President Trump called Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) on Saturday morning to urge him to persuade the state legislature to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the state and asked the governor to order an audit of absentee ballot signatures, the latest brazen effort by the president to interfere in the 2020 election,” the Washington Post reports.

“Hours before he is scheduled to hold a rally in Georgia on behalf of the state’s two GOP senators, Trump pressed Kemp to call a special session of the state legislature to get lawmakers to override the results and appoint electors that would back him… He also asked the governor to demand an audit of signatures on mail ballots, something Kemp has previously noted he has no power to do.

“Kemp declined the entreaty from Trump.”

When you specifically say that a 46% increase in vote total for Biden over Clinton happened "everywhere" - that isn't a disagreement with me.

That is a statement of fact that you have zero ability to back up with any evidence that it's true.

Just like yesterday when you suggested (without any evidence) that the surveillance tape was doctored..

If I were to say that 46% increase in his vote total proves that there were fraudulent votes counted. That would be an opinion that you could disagree with.

But the fact that 46% increase in vote total is statistically improbable and an anomaly (as in it didn't happen in other large counties in Georgia) - that is not an opinion... and without showing me all of the other large Georgia counties where this happened (Hint, there are none) - you cannot say you are "disagreeing".

At that point, you are just obstinately refusing to accept the data for what it is.

Fact checking the video Lil Schitty was cuming all over himself .......BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

e with a few years’ experience in municipal management knows: When you’re looking to steal an election, you place the suitcases under the table.
Of course, there’s another explanation, one offered on Friday by Fulton County Director of Registration and Elections Richard L. Barron: “According to my staff, that’s just normal," he said in a Friday meeting of the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections. The room where those staffers were processing ballots wasn’t big enough for all their equipment plus the media, explained Barron.
Okay, but what about booting the observers, as Hannity alleged? “No one from my staff made an announcement for anyone to leave,” said Barron.
As to the conspiratorial thrill of calling the containers “suitcases”: “Those are bins,” said Barron.
Gabriel Sterling, Georgia’s voting system implementation manager, tweeted that state investigators had watched hours of the video. “Shows normal ballot processing,” he wrote.

Frances Watson, chief investigator for the Georgia secretary of state, said the black bins were standard for election-processing activities. As to why election officials were pulling out the bins late on the evening of Nov. 3: They had stowed them away as they completed work for the evening. Then they received orders to continue their work — so they grabbed the bins and scanned the ballots inside of them.
The “suitcase” hatchet job is following the same arc as many Trump conspiracies at Fox News: Credulous, pro-Trump propaganda on the opinion hours, checked by actual reporting from the news side of the network. A story on FoxNews.com, for instance, details the refutations of top Georgia officials, right below embedded video of Hannity and the tagline: “Hannity: New video shows suspicious activity in Nevada, Georgia.” The juxtaposition yields a screenshot that encapsulates the central Trump-era conflict at Fox News:
Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins reported the denials of Georgia officials throughout Friday.

Without knowing those procedures, it’s pretty tough to identify a fraudulent departure from them. Never underestimate guys like Carlson and Hannity, though — they are election-procedure hobbyists. They know suitcase-abetted fraud when they see it. No need to investigate much further.
In a follow-up on his Friday night program, Carlson showcased that cockiness, caring not a whit that the presence of “suitcases” had been amply debunked. “Last night we showed you surveillance footage shot from inside the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on election night, Nov. 3," said Carlson. “The tape appears to show poll workers retrieving suitcases full of ballots from underneath a table and doing that well past midnight. Keep in mind poll watchers were told to go home at around 10:30 p.m. What was that? It looks like fraud. So we asked.”
AD
The answer — that this was “normal ballot processing” — didn’t please Carlson.
People interested in “good government,” said Carlson, should want to know more about this situation. Carlson himself read a number of such questions that, he said, were supplied by a lawyer “involved in the Trump legal effort, but any person who thought about it for 10 minutes could have come up with them."
“We’re going to keep pressing till we find out," said Carlson.
Good job, investigative ace Tucker Carlson — the same fellow who recently apologized for falsely claiming that a dead man voted in this same state. Questions, of course, are wonderful. But perhaps it would be best to collect all the answers before saying things like, “It looks like fraud.”

Why Do So Many Think the Election Was Stolen?

Ross Douthat: “Anyone familiar with his career could have predicted that he would claim to have been cheated out of victory. Anyone watching how he wielded power (or, more often, didn’t) as president could have predicted that his efforts to challenge the election results would be embarrassing, ridiculous and dismissed with prejudice in court. And anyone watching how the Republican Party dealt with his ascent could have predicted that its leaders would mostly avoid directly rebuking him, relying instead on the inertial forces of American democracy, the conscientiousness of judges and local officialdom, and Trump’s own incompetence to turn back his final power grab.

“So far, so predictable. But speaking as a cynical observer of the Trump era, one feature of November did crack my jaded shell a bit: not his behavior or the system’s response, but the sheer scale of the belief among conservatives that the election was really stolen, measured not just in polling data but in conversations and arguments, online and in person, with people I would not have expected to embrace it.”

Rick Hasen: “Three weeks ago, I and others in the election law field determined that Trump’s path to use lawsuits to overturn the results of the election were dead. The campaign had uncovered no significant fraud or irregularities and none of the states where Trump lost were close enough that a recount could plausibly change the results of the election. By one count, Trump has lost 46 of his lawsuits and won only one minor one, in PA.

“But the lawsuits keep coming and coming. They make much more sense when one thinks of them as about grift and delegitimizing the upcoming Biden presidency.”

Trump Wants Names of Republicans Who Say Biden Won

Pirro Calls Barr a ‘Reptile’ for Not Backing Trump
10:16 pm EST
Jeanine Pirro lashed out at Attorney General Barr for not finding the voter fraud in the presidential election that President Trump falsely claims cost him victory.

Said Pirro: “And you, Mr. Barr, are so deep in the swamp, you can’t see beyond your fellow reptiles. And you are not the exceptional leader needed at this exceptional time in history.”
_____________

Yes, Barr refuses exceptionally to lie for the sake of the exceptionally biggest liar we have ever had in the presidency.

FOR EXAMPLE,
Defiant Trump Insists Election Was ‘Rigged’
9:58 pm
“President Trump on Saturday stumped for Republican candidates in Georgia’s Senate runoff elections at a rally during which he repeatedly and falsely insisted that he won the Peach State and the 2020 election,” The Hill reports.

Said Trump:
“You must go vote and vote early starting December 14. You have to do it. They cheated and they rigged our presidential election, but we will still win it. We will still win it. We’ll still win it. And they’re going to try and rig this election, too.”
______

USA Today:
“Trump did promote incumbent Georgia Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler –- whose Jan. 5 re-election bids will decide control of the Senate -– but framed most of the rally around his own legacy and false allegations about the election.”

Remember when there were peals of laughter on this blog when it was predicted that the death count in our land could reach 400,000? We are now approaching 300,000, and have a long way to go before we can hope for a vaccine to begin to slow the rate of deaths.

Ch is too ashamed to continue posting the total Covid cases and deaths in his sidebar.

He was one of those who kept saying it was all overblown and was little more than the typical flu.

I have stats on the side Reverend...

We are almost at 7000 deaths for people under 45.

But the problem now is that places like Illinois have a bunch of moron citizens and stupid leadership who apparently are ordering everyone to not wear masks or something.

I mean, otherwise why else would they have 235 deaths reported today?

Got to be stupid fucking leadership with stupid fucking Illinois citizens?

Bonkers

Before a crowd of around 2,000, Trump, who was accompanied by first lady Melania Trump, spent most of his roughly 90-minute speech casting doubt on the credibility of the presidential election, which he lost to President-elect Joe Biden, while occasionally remembering to boost Perdue and Loeffler. At times he lapsed back into his stump speech from the presidential campaign, blaming China for the COVID-19 pandemic and taking a few half-hearted swipes at Biden’s son Hunter.

President Donald Trump shares the stage with U.S. Sens. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., and David Perdue, R-Ga., who are both facing runoff elections Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 during a rally in Valdosta, Ga. (Ben Gray/AP)More

He falsely said he won Georgia and repeated discredited allegations of voter fraud, such as the debunked claim that more ballots were counted than voters, but also cautioned that if conservatives don’t support the Republican senators at the polls, “the radical left wins.”

"The answer to the Democrat fraud is not to stay at home,” he said. “That's what Nancy Pelosi and [Chuck] Schumer, that's what they want you to do: 'Stay at home. Just stay at home.' If you want to do something to them — I don't want to use the word 'revenge,' but it is a certain revenge — you show up and vote in record numbers. That's what you have to do."

But staying home is just what two self-proclaimed Trump loyalists, attorneys Lin Wood and Sidney Powell, urged Georgians to do at a “Stop the Steal” rally on Wednesday. Wood criticized Perdue and Loeffler for their absence and told the crowd to boycott the runoff unless Georgia’s governor, Brian Kemp, and the secretary of state, both Republicans, intervened in the ballot-counting process to deliver the state’s 16 electoral votes to Donald Trump.

“Do not be fooled twice,” he said. “This is Georgia, we ain’t dumb. We’re not going to go vote on Jan. 5 on another machine made by China. You’re not going to fool Georgians again,” he said, to cheers from the crowd.

Without mentioning Wood and Powell by name, Trump told the crowd “Don’t listen to my friends, just go out” and vote.
