One of those perspective things

This one has been making the rounds over the past couple of days...

So Joe Biden obviously has an issue either understanding how "planets work" or he has an issue explaining his position in a manner that makes sense. Even if carbon emissions were to substantial change the eco-system, the planet itself would still orbit the sun.

But it sort of begs the question as to what "actual" effect that carbon emissions, greenhouse gases, climate change, etc... will actually have. The reality is that (at worse) there will be an adaptation of life as we know it. Not a big change, but the sort of change that takes place with any evolution. Some species might go away, or morph into something different. That might be sad or just part of nature, depending on your outlook.

Certainly the human race would survive. We have the technology to inhabit, engage in forms of agriculture, and even race livestock in controlled environments. Things would change and be different. Perhaps we would see some famine and perhaps even a culling of our numbers for a couple of generations. At least until things calmed into the most comfortable state given the circumstance The reality is that overpopulation is a problem that will only be resolved by having less population, one way or the other.

But things on this planet have already changed substantially. Technology has changed us over the past few decades in manners that climate change could never do.

Either way, climate change itself is natural. The only unnatural thing (if you deem human existence to be unnatural for some reason) is that our technology has changed the eco-system for better or worse (most would say worse). But we do not exist on a planet that is stagnant and unchanging. It has always been changing and will always change. Ice ages, mini-ice ages, periods of warming, etc. Eventually our sun will supernova and the entire solar system will cease to exist.

But until that day, the idea that combustible engines and aerosol spray cans are threatening the "existence" of the planet earth is quite Bidenish and the goofy old codger of a man should be made fun of unmercifully .

Actually, the earth is not six billion years old, Scott. It is about 4.54 billion years old.

The universe is about 13.8 billion years old.

Your scientific expertise is not very impressive, Scott.

And of course what Biden means is that the very existence of life as we know it on our planet is being threatened.

Biden Introduces his Climate Team

The president-elect said he has chosen a team that prioritizes making clean energy jobs and environmental protection a cornerstone of his economic plans.

Biden Climate Team Says Protecting Planet Will Create Jobs

President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. announced members of his climate change team Saturday, and said his administration would focus on rebuilding the economy through efforts to reduce emissions.
By Lisa Friedman

WASHINGTON — President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. introduced key members of his climate change team on Saturday, declaring that his administration will connect the effort to reduce planet-warming emissions with restoring the economy and creating jobs.

Mr. Biden, speaking at an event in Wilmington, Del., said the climate team will be “ready on day one, which is essential because we literally have no time to waste.”

A top lieutenant will be Gina McCarthy, former President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency administrator who Mr. Biden has tapped to head a new White House Office of Climate Policy.

The group includes progressives like Representative Deb Haaland of New Mexico, Mr. Biden’s choice to lead the Department of the Interior and a co-sponsor of the Green New Deal, and establishment figures like Jennifer Granholm, the former governor of Michigan who Mr. Biden selected to be Energy secretary.

Michael Regan, North Carolina’s top environmental regulator, was named to lead the Environmental Protection Agency and Brenda Mallory, a longtime environmental attorney, will chair the Council on Environmental Quality. Ms. McCarthy’s deputy will be Ali Zaidi, who currently serves as the deputy secretary for energy and environment for New York State. And last month Mr. Biden named former Secretary of State John Kerry as an international presidential envoy on climate change.

“Folks, we’re in a crisis,” Mr. Biden said on Saturday. “Just like we need to be a unified nation to respond to Covid-19, we need a unified national response to climate change.”

Kamala Harris, the vice-president elect and California senator, said the state had endured the worst wildfire season on record this year. Calling wildfires “just one symptom of our growing climate crisis” along with historic flooding in the Midwest and a record hurricane season, she said, “Our climate crisis is not a partisan issue and it is not a hoax. It is an existential threat to all of us.”

Who said these things?

“Growing up in my mother’s Pueblo household made me fierce. My life has not been easy. I struggled with homelessness. I relied on food stamps and raised my child as a single mom. These struggles give me perspectives, though, so that I can help people to succeed.”

“The president-elect and vice president-elect know that issues under Interior’s jurisdiction aren’t simply about conservation. They’re woven in with justice, good jobs and closing the racial wealth and health gaps.”

“I’ll be fierce for all of us, for our planet and all of our protected land, and I’m honored and ready to serve.”

“Clean energy remains among the most promising jobs and economic growth sector in the world. Over the next two decades, countries and companies are going to invest trillions, trillions, not just billions, trillions in electric cars and batteries and wind turbines, and solar panels and energy-efficient appliances and energy-efficient buildings. They’re going to upgrade their electric grids using smart technology. Millions of good-paying jobs are going to be created.”

“The path to building back better starts with building and manufacturing and deploying those products here, stamping them ‘Made in America,’ and exporting them around the world.”

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

“Folks, we’re in a crisis, just like we need to be a unified nation in response to Covid-19, we need a unified national response to climate change, need to meet the moment with the urgency it demands, as you would during any national emergency. And from this crisis, from these crises, I should say, we need to seize that opportunity to build back and build back better than we were before. That’s what this administration is going to do with the help of these fine people.”

So here are five of the biggest suppressed stories of 2020. Pardon me if I don’t go into great detail on them, but the closer I get to the truth, the more likely that Google, Twitter and Facebook will bury my story, too.

5) Mysterious mutating lockdown: Has anyone ever figured out why it is OK for grocery store workers to remain on the job during an international pandemic while serving the needs of the entire population with no restrictions other than wearing a mask, but it is considered dangerous for gyms to open or, most ludicrously, for anyone other than spouses of governors to take their boat for a quick spin around the lake? It seems like the lockdown can turn into whatever is convenient for politicians. The uneven effects of the lockdown on different states and different sectors have resulted in the shift of trillions of dollars of capital in ways that will reshape the economy for generations to come, yet we are not supposed to talk about it.

4) Hydroxychloroquine: If you know anything about this drug, it is probably just that some guy in Arizona died after drinking it, and that maybe President Trump was somehow responsible. Well, as they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The guy in Arizona didn’t take hydroxychloroquine; he took a fish tank cleaner called chloroquine phosphate. And Trump never told anyone to take either the drug or the fish-tank cleaner. He just said hydroxychloroquine was a promising treatment against COVID-19. Of course, as soon as he said it, the radical academic leftists who control medical journals and associations warned that hydroxychloroquine had no benefit as a treatment and was potentially dangerous even though it had been safely used against malaria and various immune deficiency syndromes for decades. Fortunately, many doctors who were familiar with the drug continued to use it as a therapy in the early stages of COVID infections, and many patients around the world have been spared the most dire effects of the virus as a result. Just don’t expect to read about it in the New York Times.

3) Trump’s vaccine victory: While the president has been painted as anti-science, it was his administration’s support that led to the fastest turnaround ever from viral discovery to viral vaccine — essentially less than a year. Even as House Democrats are poised to launch investigations into Trump’s supposed crimes against humanity for being president during the COVID crisis, lives are being saved as a result of his policies. Just don’t expect to read about it in the mainstream media, which spent much of 2020 ridiculing Trump for his prescient predictions that a vaccine would be developed by the end of the year.

Truthseeker said...

2) Hunter Biden’s laptop: The ability to bury the Hunter Biden story throughout the 2020 presidential campaign ranks as one of the greatest victories in the history of propaganda. Hunter is the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, and his acknowledged history as a drug addict is now considered his strong suit. The Senate Homeland Security Committee found extensive evidence that Hunter has made hundreds of millions of dollars for the Biden family by selling access to his father, so when Hunter’s laptop turned up with first-person incriminating evidence, it was pretty obvious that Joe Biden had a lot of answer for. Except that the media never made him answer for anything. It preferred to rest on the bizarre assertion from 50 former U.S. intelligence officials that clear evidence of foreign collusion on Hunter’s laptop had all the earmarks of a “Russian disinformation” campaign. This was errant nonsense. Reporters, read the emails!

1) Election fraud: It turned out that everything that happened in 2020 before Nov. 3 was just prologue for the greatest deception in American history — namely the hijacking of a presidential election through means both legal and illegal. Most importantly, every state that changed its election procedures without the consent of its legislature violated the U.S. Constitution. That’s why Republicans plan to challenge the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6. Whether you like Donald Trump or not should be irrelevant. You either follow the Constitution or you don’t. The fact that Trump increased his support in almost every demographic since 2016 and yet lost the election will apparently remain a mystery because the Democratic Party, with an assist from weak Republicans, is intent on continuing the charade that Joe Biden is a beloved elder statesman even more popular than Barack Obama.

From NBC news.

In the eight weeks that have passed since Election Day 2020, Donald Trump and his partisan allies have filed an avalanche of ridiculous lawsuits, racking up an amazing number of defeats. Politico reported yesterday, however, one of the weirdest cases of them all.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and President Donald Trump’s defeated electors from Arizona may force Vice President Mike Pence to publicly pick a side in Trump’s bid to overturn his 2020 election loss. Gohmert and a handful of the would-be electors sued Pence in federal court on Monday in a long-shot bid to throw out the rules that govern Congress’ counting of electoral votes next week.

Let’s take a moment to contextualize all of this, because while it may seem bonkers for a far-right congressman to sue his own party’s far-right vice president, it’s worse than it appears at first glance.

On Jan. 6, Congress will formally certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, accepting the results of the electoral college’s vote. Mike Pence will, by constitutional mandate, oversee the process in the Senate, though his role is largely a ceremonial formality.

In fact, the Constitution’s language on this is straightforward: “The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted.”

Some on the fringes have nevertheless come to the conclusion that Pence could use this opportunity to pull a fast one, prevent certification of Biden’s victory, and somehow keep Trump in power at the Indiana Republican’s own discretion.

In fact, Trump is reportedly “confused” as to why his vice president can’t simply manufacture the authority to reject the outcome of electoral college vote and overturn the results the outgoing president doesn’t like. (By some accounts, Trump would also see Pence performing his constitutional duty as “the ultimate betrayal.”)

And that’s where Gohmert’s lawsuit comes into play. The Texas Republican, generally seen as a caricature of a bumbling far-right congressman, wants the judiciary to empower Pence to unilaterally reject electoral college results he disagrees with. More specifically, the lawsuit is asking a federal judge to put aside the Constitution’s unambiguous language, let the vice president ignore actual electoral votes, and accept an alternate slate of fake pro-Trump electoral votes as if they were real.

If Thecoldheartedtruth actually believed in the Constitution, he would write a 500 word diatribe against this crazy Republican!

It's a simple question.

Only person here suggesting that 6000 year old mark is you. Since you keep bringing it up over and over, it must mean that there is some significance to that number for you?

So in my mind... it's your responsibility 100% since nobody else brought it up. Perhaps in the future you stick to things that are real, factual, and truthful... rather than just "make shit up".

What does it tell you when you have to come up with "hypotheticals" to criticize me? Where are the "real" examples of such absurdities that you accuse me of?

The fact that you are not educated enough to understand my statistical analysis and somehow believe it must be "Trump related" is on you. Not me.

GOP Official Blames White House Party for Covid
11:32 am
“The vice chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee is battling COVID-19 after attending what he described as a largely maskless holiday party at the White House earlier this month,” the Boston Globe reports.

Said Tom Mountain: “I didn’t listen to the warnings of my own family, and now I’m paying the price.”

He told WJAR:
“Lets put it this way: When I went down to Washington, D.C., for the White House Hanukkah event, I was perfectly fine. And three days later after that event, I was in the hospital… ready to be put on a lifesaving ventilator.”

Paying the price. A lot of people are doing that, thanks to Trump and Republicans like Scott who tout his every lie.

Given that everyone knows and accepts that the whole Birther theory was a Clinton invention... that begs the question as to why you would have voted for Clinton (who made up the theory) rather than Trump (who just repeated it).

Please explain that logic?

As far as I know, you never condemned Hillary or demanded she was evil because her campaign first floated the idea that Obama was not born in the U.S. But you are upset that others didn't condemn Trump and others for repeating it?

Your hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Let's argue that this particular incubation was only 2 days (and 2 days would be disputed and at best would be an outlier). It still takes several days from mild symptoms to turn into severe symptoms.

Again... no way he is exposed and three days later on a ventilator.
