Attorney General William Barr announced today (Dec 1st) that John Durham, the prosecutor he hired to investigate anybody who investigated the Russia scandal, was made a special counsel last month. Durham’s status as special counsel gives him protection from firing, presumably under a Biden administration.So shouldn't this be a news story of some sort? We just found out that the Attorney General has appointed a Special Counsel to investigate behavior that might uncover politically embarrassing, if not criminal behavior by members of the Obama Administration. Oh, and in case anyone forgot, this might include information on President elect Joe Biden himself.
But of course, the idea of another Special Counsel isn't quite as interesting to the media when the subject of the probe is not Trump. Robert Mueller and his probe "was" the news for the full length of his probe. He was an American hero! I would suspect that Durham and his probe will be largely ignored by that same media, if not attacked, criticized, and undermined.
The announcement of the probe was and still is being ignored.
Many wondered if John Durham was not bringing charges because there wasn't going to be enough time before a new Administration took over and basically shut down Durham for good. Many on the right were hopping mad at the fact that Durham was likely going to end everything without any charges being brought against anyone. Some where mad at Durham and even Barr for not acting more aggressively and letting all of this slide till it became irrelevant or got shut down by politics.
Now we know that this is not going to happen, as Durham is effectively immune from being fired by the Biden team. We also know that any charges that Durham might have on the backburner will not stay on the backburner forever. If there are charges to be brought, then Durham will eventually be able to bring them in his own time (without running up against the whole end of term issues). This appointment is probably more about letting Durham complete his probe and bring charges, than it is about Durham starting anything new.
Now all we need is for Barr to also appoint a special counsel to look into the Hunter Biden situation, before that is shut down over political reasons.

Durham has a reputation for being fair, though some have felt his investigation into the question of the use of torture by our military left something to be desired. (I believe that investigation was ultimately shut down with no charges being made against anyone.)

Because Barr intentionally discredit the Muller report. And he knows that the Democratic party mishandled the impeachment process because he "Barr" concealed financial ties to the Russian government and oligarchs, that would have led to a conviction and removal from office.
John Durham is there to save Barr's reputation as a patriot, not a puppet of Donald Trump.

Hmmmm... and here I thought the fact that the Durham probe has already had arrests, charges, and a guilty plea would have served as proof of something?

In the real world... law enforcement doesn't leak their evidence to the press or to Wikipedia. In this particular case, none of those NYT or WaPo anonymous sources even had knowledge that Durham had been appointed Special Counsel.
If the press are not privy enough to even know Barr appointed special counsel (in November) - then why would ANYONE expect that they would be privy to what evidence Durham may or may not have? They don't have the first fucking clue!!!!

As many as 280,000 pre-marked ballots were transported from Bethpage, New York, to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in late October and then “disappeared,” the director of a public interest law firm said Tuesday quoting a postal service subcontractor.
Phill Kline, the director of the legal group Thomas More Society’s Amistad Project, said at a press conference in Arlington, Virginia, that a witness has testified to the fact the ballots that went missing, which was verified by other witness statements.
“This evidence demonstrates, and it’s through eyewitness testimony that’s been corroborated by others through their eyewitness statements, that 130,000 to 280,000 completed ballots for the 2020 general election were shipped from Bethpage, New York, to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where the ballots and the trailer in which they were shipped disappeared,” said Kline, a former attorney general for the state of Kansas.
Kline claimed in a news release that postal service workers engaged in “widespread illegal efforts” to influence the election, according The Epoch Times.
Three individuals spoke at Tuesday’s event to provide first-hand accounts of what Kline outlined, including truck driver subcontractor Jesse Morgan, who said he drove the truck filled with potentially upward of 288,000 ballots on Oct. 21. The ballots were addressed to Harrisburg but Morgan was instructed to deliver them to a Lancaster location.
The truck — and ballots — vanished after he parked at a USPS depot in Lancaster, he said.
Kline said the numbers come from estimates his group discerned.
The news conference also heard from a witness who claims to have seen a Dominion Voting Systems vendor inserting thumb drives into voting aggregation machines in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and a third man – another USPS subcontractor — who said he was told the postal service was planning to backdate tens of thousands of ballots in the days after the Nov. 3 election in order to circumvent the ballot submission deadline, Justthenews.com reported.
“This evidence joins with unlawful conduct by state and local election officials, including accepting millions of dollars of private funds, to undermine the integrity of this election,” Kline said.
In a press release, the Amistad Project says it has sworn expert affidavits claiming “over 300,000 ballots are at issue in Arizona, 548,000 in Michigan, 204,000 in Georgia, and over 121,000 in Pennsylvania.”
Kline said the information will be shared with the FBI, federal and local prosecutors “who are aware of our evidence.”
The Epoch Times said neither the FBI nor postal service has responded to a request for comment.
The claims come on the same day that U.S. Attorney General William Barr told The Associated Press that his office has no evidence of fraud that would change the election results.
