Trump signs the $2.3 trillion funding and pandemic relief bill

Now you have to wonder what all the fuss was about?

Apparently all of the hand wringing and stories of apocalypse over Trump refusing to sign the relief and funding bill were all for naught, as the President chose to sign the bill last minute to avoid all of the horrifying things that would happen if he didn't.

Foreign nations from across the globe as well as Broadway entertainment facilities were applauding last night as they will now be getting their much needed relief at the expense of the U.S. tax-payer. I am glad my money will go to fund gender programs in Pakistan and the international threat of wildlife poaching. That was exactly what I am worried about as a U.S. taxpayer.

all the fuss was about denying Trump this "victory."

this could've been done months ago, but Peloshee insisted upon using this to make Trump look bad.

this bill should've been exactly one page long, giving every taxpayer in American $2000.00 of THEIR MONEY back.

instead we get THIS:

Congress to give Pakistan $$$ as they free Daniel Pearl’s killer, refuse to free doctor who led us to Osama

Pakistan will NOT release the doctor who led US forces to Osama Bin Laden. However, Pakistan WILL release the killer who beheaded an American.

Congress is handling this by giving Pakistan 24 million dollars of taxpayer money. NOT SATIRE!

Among the handouts in the $900 billion stimulus bill that ostensibly is to help Americans survive the impact of the coronavirus lockdowns is $10 million devoted to “gender programs.”

and democrats wonder why we despise them while the reasons are legion and obvious.

ROLE MODEL: How Mark Robinson beat Bloomberg’s billions to win NC’s second-highest office.

In 2018, he attended Greensboro’s city council meeting to voice his frustration over the town’s decision to ban a local gun show, and found himself giving an off-the-cuff yet deeply impassioned speech. Despite not owning a gun at the time, Robinson argued for four minutes in defense of the Second Amendment and ended up garnering national attention. This year, with few resources and no electoral experience, Robinson became the first black lieutenant governor-elect of North Carolina.

“I didn’t expect the reaction that I received from that speech,” Robinson said. “I thought maybe a couple of friends would see it and that was about it. When it went viral … a lot of people encouraged me to get a radio show and things of that sort.”

But he decided against courting fame, because “in order to affect real change, there’s no better place to do that than in the political arena.”

So Robinson ran for lieutenant governor, and became the first black Republican to win a major seat in the state since William Woods Holden in the 1800s. He also earned more votes in his state than the two top Republicans on the ticket: President Trump and Sen. Thom Tillis, and nearly as many as Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper, who will now have a member of the GOP as his second-in-command. If Cooper is successful in his rumored run for US Senate in 2022, Robinson will ascend to the state’s highest office.

Robinson’s win is astounding for any number of reasons, but especially because he managed to beat the $8 million spent by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in his state to take him out.

Someone should ask Bloomberg why he spent so much money to keep a black man out of power.

The Ruling: Mostly true.

the bill, a serious COVID bill, should've been one page returning $2000.00 of THEIR OWN MONEY to each and every taxpayer. period. full stop. it would've cost somewhere in the vicinity of $600 BILLION and we would've been done.

SALT tax relief does nothing for COVID.

Pakistani gender studies does nothing for COVID.

what passed was an abomination, a liberal christmas tree adorned with ornament$ completely and demonstrably unrelated to COVID.

“President Trump’s donors — the vast majority of whom are working-class supporters and retirees contributing just a few dollars a month — put $10.5 million into the erstwhile billionaire’s own personal businesses over the course of his presidency,” a HuffPost analysis found.

“Some $8.5 million came from the Trump campaign and related entities that Trump controls directly. Another $2 million came from other Republican candidates and committees.”

Pretty sure Trump will be remembered for lots of things Roger...

Most importantly and most tangibly, he will be remembered for not allowing Hillary Clinton to be President and for Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney-Barrett.

Long after the media stops crying about behavior that they find unbecoming for a President, the real tangible legacy will continue for decades!

heh:

The central point is that the VP, as the presiding officer and final authority, has the unquestionable authority to declare that the states in question have not conducted presidential elections. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, but no one has the authority to override his decision.

The statement says nothing about who might or might not have "won" the contested states. Rather, by not following their own laws, as enacted by their own legislatures, they have violated Article II, Section 1. Thus, they have not conducted an election, and their results are void.

If the votes of all seven contested states are registered as zero, President Trump will have 232 votes, and Joe Biden will have 222. The 12th Amendment says, "[T]he votes shall then be counted[.] ... The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President[.]"

In plain language, Donald Trump will be re-elected, since he has a majority of the actual electoral votes. There will be no need to involve the House of Representatives to resolve a contingent election.

Richard Nixon chose not to contest the 1960 election because he felt that winning that way would lead to an ungovernable country. If V.P. Pence does this, that same argument might be made. But is the country governable even now? Blue states such as California, Oregon, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Michigan are already operating in an openly lawless manner with their "emergency" "COVID-related" restrictions. Their denial of the civil rights of law-abiding citizens is horrific. Their refusal to do basic policing and law enforcement is a recipe for open war. How much worse would things be if the V.P. lived up to his oath and upheld the law?

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/12/its_for_mike_pence_to_judge_whether_a_presidential_election_was_held_at_all.html

This would be the right thing to do. Therefore Pence will not do it. a democrat would because democrats play to win and for keeps.

Republicans only ever play for the privilege of being the democrats valets.

let's hope. if democrats win GA, Trump's tangible legacy of the USSC will be short-lived as the democrats will pack it. and i give Biden 6 months tops to completely destroy Trump's legacy of peace and stability in the middle east.

Well since (according to your own logic) this allegation has not been proven in court and no judge has agreed with this, then it obviously never happened and you are just throwing around wild conspiracy theories.

So please stop littering this blog with nonsense allegations that are not proven.

C.H. Truth said...

Rat - Manchin has openly expressed that he will not vote to dismantle the filibuster or to pack the courts. It's said that privately there are several other Democratic Senators who are not on board with the idea of this sort of power grab (given what happened when Harry Reid decided to start going down this rabbit hole by bypassing the filibuster on the confirmation of nominees).

According to most sources, they are at least a handful of Democratic Senators short, even if they got to 50-50. Some are saying that the number not willing to go along with that sort of move might be even higher.

Anonymous said...

I'd like to believe Manchin, I really would, but as long as he's a democrat I'll believe him about as far as I can throw a grand piano.

he voted to impeach Trump on allegations that obviously had absolutely no basis in fact, therefore I'm left conclude his motivations were purely partisan.

According to most sources, they are at least a handful of Democratic Senators short, even if they got to 50-50. Some are saying that the number not willing to go along with that sort of move might be even higher.

except that with that much at stake, and what i mean is a path to permanent power and one-party rule for ever and ever amen, the severity of the threats that would be made to those reluctant to go there would be swift, severe and horrific.

democrats are fucking evil. believe them when they tell you who they are. and remember, when you have assholes like Sasse, Murkowski and Collins on OUR side, be prepared to cede their vote to democrats on any given issue. they adore the thought of being all mavericky like pappy mcstain. they are modern day loyalists to the crown.

as we've seen on the election issue, there's just enough 'go along to get along' in the GOP to not trust the situation. not even a little.

C.H. Truth said...

Well I think Manchin is the Collins, Murkowski, McCain of the left and seems to revel in his "independence". Perhaps it doesn't give him quite the prestige as it would be a "independent" Republican, but he seems to really seen taken by the idea. He did vote for impeachment, but also for all three of Trump's judicial nominees.

Manchin also was one of three Democrats to vote "against" Reid on the nuclear option. So there is a precedent for him bucking this.

This was his recent statement:

“I really think that when you break the filibuster, you break the Senate, and I'm not going to be part of breaking the Senate, I can tell you that,” he said. “The Senate is a pretty special place because the Founding Fathers intended it to be that way. But they also intended us to work in a bipartisan way and to where the minority always had input. You break the rules of the filibuster, the minority has nothing. There's no purpose whatsoever. You're no different than a glorified House."

Anonymous said...

i hear ya cold. i just can't bring myself to completely trust the guy. every man in DC has their price, and Manchin is no exception. if permanent one-party democrat rule was in reach, i cannot dismiss the concept of him helping them get there.

to the victor go the spoils.

cynicism serves me well in times like these, and i do not consider Manchin exempt from that inclination.

Sieg Heil Herr Newsom!:

STOCKTON, Calif. (KTXL) — Customers and stylists at Stockton’s Pomp Hair Salon saw something they never expected to see on Wednesday — armed officers with body armor.

This was due to violations of an emergency order by the state Board of Barbering and Cosmetology requiring them to follow their lockdown emergency order.

Husband and wife owners Vicki Kirk and Dino Ballin said it was humiliating for customers and stylists.

“They burst into our salon and they treated it like a drug raid,” Kirk told FOX40.

The officers from the enforcement division of the Department of Consumer Affairs tried to cool tempers as shouting and expletives occurred.

The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology issued a statement that said violations of the emergency order could involve the removal of licenses from barbershops and salons.

“The Board strongly encourages licensees, as well as the public, to comply with the applicable Regional Stay-at-Home orders to slow the spread of COVID-19,” the statement read, in part.

But the owners of Pomp said salons are not spreading the virus and cited contact tracing numbers showing infection more much more likely to spread in businesses that are allowed to remain open.

“If there were any evidence that we should close, we would close, absolutely. There is virtually zero evidence to support the closure of our industry,” Ballin claimed.

“I just want to earn a living and we all want to do it safely,” Kirk said. “We have strict safety protocols here, and we will continue to do so.”

The couple said they believed they were singled out because they are outspoken critics of how lockdown rules are applied, citing health protocol violations by the governor and other officials.

A new Gallup poll finds Congress’ job approval rating is at just 15%, the lowest of the 116th Congress, and President Trump’s job approval rating has fallen to 39% — down seven percentage points from before the election.

In contrast, nearly two-thirds of Americans approve of the way Joe Biden is handling his presidential transition.

Americans are signaling how utterly disgusted they became with Trump.
They did that too in the election.

Biden Will Use Defense Production Act to Boost Vaccine

“President-elect Joe Biden plans to invoke the Defense Production Act after he takes office next month to boost production of coronavirus vaccines,” CNBC reports.

“The wartime production law, which allows the president to compel companies to prioritize manufacturing for national security, could help the U.S. secure components and specialized products that manufacturers need to produce the Covid vaccines. Biden’s team has been weighing whether to invoke the law for vaccine production.”

The blue states have a much more racially divided populations. For many reasons, we still haven't determined exactly why they are more susceptible to infections and death rates.

Scott doesn't include racial diversity in his bunker spreadsheets.

The Mayo Clinic Clinic disagrees with the paper pusher.

Causes

Infection with the new coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, or SARS-CoV-2) causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily among people, and more continues to be discovered over time about how it spreads. Data has shown that it spreads mainly from person to person among those in close contact (within about 6 feet, or 2 meters). The virus spreads by respiratory droplets released when someone with the virus coughs, sneezes, breathes, sings or talks. These droplets can be inhaled or land in the mouth, nose or eyes of a person nearby.

In some situations, the COVID-19 virus can spread by a person being exposed to small droplets or aerosols that stay in the air for several minutes or hours — called airborne transmission. It's not yet known how common it is for the virus to spread this way.

It can also spread if a person touches a surface or object with the virus on it and then touches his or her mouth, nose or eyes, although this isn't considered to be a main way it spreads.

Some reinfections of the virus that causes COVID-19 have happened, but these have been uncommon.
