965,000 Americans file for unemployment as business get ready for liberal leadership...

But at least we will probably get a $2000 check from the Government?

Much of the economy has taken a nosedive since election. Hopefully this does not continue.

Meanwhile, over 4100 people died of Covid yesterday (guess that mask wearing is not working). This was led (again) by California with 40,000 new cases and over 500 dead. One has to wonder how these numbers will continue to be reported once we have officially entered the time of the  Biden Administration?

this doesn't require any imagination at all.

remember the Bush admin? every day on the front page of the WaPo was the daily body count from iraq and shithole-istan.

then 0linsky comes in and those daily body counts are gone, never to be seen again.

this will be the same.

why do you think Killer Cuomo is suddenly interested in opening up the NY economy?

Over 4100 people died of Covid yesterday

BUT Trump told us we had turned the corner on it. Trump told us it was nothing much more than flu and we could go to work with it, or choose to stay home for a day or two. Trump said it would soon disappear like magic. Trump said it could probably be defeated by injections of bleach or infusions of light. Trump told us that within a few days we would be down to near zero cases and deaths. Trump told us we could safely pack the churches full last Easter. Trump told us water wouldn't come through the damn because he had his finger in it... Trump told us...

I wonder why Scott stopped giving us the daily statistics when the daily cases and deaths in the red-governed states started catching up with the cases and deaths in the blue-governed states.

Wonder why he did that?

But TRUMP IS STILL PRESIDENT and we're having over 4,000 deaths a day from a virus he told us was not all that serious and would soon be gone, gone, gone.

Trump Struggles to Find Lawyers for Impeachment Trial
2:26 pm
“President Trump, on the eve of facing a historic second impeachment trial for inciting the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol last week, is having trouble finding a legal team to defend him,” Bloomberg reports.

“Allies of the outgoing president have been canvassing Washington’s legal landscape looking for representation but so far are coming up short. Lawyers who defended him in the previous impeachment trial, including Jay Sekulow and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, have said no this time.

“Other lawyers who have defended Trump at times, including former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi, Eric Herschmann, Pat Philbin and Marc Kasowitz aren’t interested in joining a team this time, the people said. Some of the lawyers who don’t want a role have privately said what Trump did was indefensible.”
________

Oh how can they SAY that? Scott has told us what Trump did is EMMINENTLY defensible!

Scott says so. So does Trump.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Oh, and by the way, Scott, notice that Trump DOES seem to think that some sort of an impeachment trial really IS going to take place.

Do you guess his lawyers (the few that he still has left) are telling him THAT much? Do you suppose someone knows more than you do?

Naturally, on our skin, we have oil, and bacteria, and dead skin cells. So, essentially it’s clogging the pores, and when you’re wearing these masks that bacteria and those issues are just building up and building up underneath the masks,” she said.

But this in no way is a reason not to wear masks. All you have to do is make some simple adjustments.

“Wash your face and moisturize. Clean your masks constantly. Get a new mask every single day. If you’re wearing a disposable mask, dispose of them after every single use. Not wearing makeup underneath your masks is really, really important,” Karr said.

It can seem like a frivolous problem for some, but for others it’s causing serious issues.

“Some people will have these superficial breakouts. But other people we’re seeing having these cystic breakouts as a result of this,” the skin care specialist said.

Trump had the chance to be a good President, a different President who wasn't mired down by being a career politician.

Trump had the chance to do something good of which he did one or two which I cannot even remember what they were. He decided to run the country like a business and failed once again. He decided to support his businesses and his friend's businesses to the detriment of the country.

Allowing baby animals to be hunted - not good. Allowing hibernating animals to be hunted - not good. Taking away the protections for various species on the endangered lists not good. Tying the hands of the EPA - not good. Gutting the department that would oversee a world wide pandemic - stupidity to the max. Installing yes men and women to stroke his ego - gross.

Trump treated other world leaders as if they owed him fealty. He treated them as the USA was the most important country to ever exist on the planet.

Trump could not stop his ingrained racism, misogyny and ego when it came to people who were not rich and pale Caucasian like him. Women were tools to be used and abused. More toasty Caucasians and other races were scum. The poor deserved to be poor.

Trump made a show at telling hate groups to knock it off yet you could tell he agreed with them. How he managed to get crazed "Christian" religious organizations to ignore his serial adultery and sexual assault and instead praise him as a second coming is something to be studied.

Scott earlier challenged me to provide evidence that Trump said things that led to crowd violence at the Capitol.

REGARDING THE VALIDITY OF IMPEACHING TRUMP BECAUSE OF WHAT THE TOLD THE CROWD DURING HIS EIGHTY MINUTE SPEECH:
___________

Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969) states:
The government can punish speech that is "directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action."

Did Trump do that in his speech? Did he encourage the crowd to engage in imminent lawless action?

Earlier, on December 19, he had tweeted,
"Be There. Will be wild!"

That seems to say that he was encouraging people to be present BECAUSE it would be wild.

On the morning of January 6, Trump gave a speech on the White House Ellipse that stretched more than an hour and ended like this:

TRUMP:
"Our brightest days are before us, our greatest achievements still wait. I think one of our great achievements will be election security because nobody until I came along, had any idea how corrupt our elections were. And again, most people would stand there at 9:00 in the evening and say,'I want to thank you very much,' and they go off to some other life, but I said, 'Something's wrong here. Something's really wrong. Can't have happened.' And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don't fight like Hell, you're not going to have a country anymore. Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun. My fellow Americans for our movement, for our children and for our beloved country and I say this, despite all that's happened, the best is yet to come. So we're going to, we're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue, I love Pennsylvania Avenue, and we're going to the Capitol and we're going to try and give… The Democrats are hopeless. They're never voting for anything, not even one vote. But we're going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones, because the strong ones don't need any of our help, we're going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country. So let's walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I want to thank you all. God bless you and God bless America. Thank you all for being here, this is incredible. Thank you very much. Thank you.
___________

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

____________

Earlier in the speech, Trump had said,

"...we're going to walk down and I'll be there with you."
[He was not with them.]
"We're going to walk down. We're going to walk down any one you want, but I think right here.
[Apparently he meant they could walk down any street they preferred, but he was recommending Pennsylvania Avenue.]
"We're going walk down to the Capitol, and we're going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women. We're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.
"
_________

I know people will quibble over whether Trump was inciting violence, but it sounds to me as if he was, and apparently the crowed understood him that way.

Later, when violence started up at the capitol, he watched it on TV both delightedly and approvingly until his advisers began to puzzle him by their lack of enthusiasm and their anguished concern because of what was happening.

Now go back to earlier in the speech where he said,

"And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don't fight like Hell, you're not going to have a country anymore."

I believe it has been shown that some in the crowd left as soon as he said that. Trump had not yet finished talking when some of them began arriving at the outer fenced perimeter in front of the Capitol building and began pushing and eventually breaking through it, violently shoving and injuring the Capitol police who resisted them.

I agree with those Republicans who are appalled by what Trump said and did. Also by what he did not do. When he saw violence taking place, he did not immediately issue a call for it to stop.

Only a dunce would say that Trump's words were not "likely to incite of produce such action."

They did, and at first Trump was delighted that they did.
