Now out in the open...

Roberts refused to take part in the impeachment trial

There were some who were trying to play this out as if the Democrats "chose" not to ask Roberts to preside, and that they preferred to have one of their own presiding over the trial travesty. But Schumer and others have revealed that Justice Roberts simply did not want to take part and refused to do so. Some are not too happy about it.
Even Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) voiced objection to Roberts sitting out the trial last week amid concerns that he would do so. “That is his constitutional duty. I can’t imagine why a Supreme Court justice would not do his duty,” the liberal pol said.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which plays a critical role in the impeachment process, also hoped Roberts would attend. “I think he should because it will be a straightforward, simple trial. I would think that the chief justice lends the dignity and seriousness it requires,” he said, noting that he was “not required by law to do it.

Yes, certainly having the Chief Justice preside would add some dignity and seriousness to the situation. As it stands, the lack of a Chief Justice certainly means that the event will be anything from dignified or serious. More to the point, the Chief Justice made a conscious decision to "not" add credibility to this event and in doing so undermines the seriousness of it.

All of this strongly suggests that the Chief Justice does not believe that the impeachment trial is "either" dignified or serious. His refusal to preside should have been taken as a hint by Democrats to end this fiasco before it starts.

Scott has refused to take seriously a quack QAnon supporter like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who once liked posts that called for the killing of Democratic leaders.

Media Matters for America, a progressive watchdog group, first reported that Greene, a far-right firebrand who was recently elected to Congress, had endorsed fringe conspiracy theories on Facebook in 2018 that suggested former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton murdered a child during a satanic ritual.

CNN’s KFile later found other troubling activity on Greene’s personal Facebook page after reviewing hundreds of her posts and comments. In January 2019, Greene liked a comment that said it would be “quicker” to remove Pelosi from office with a “bullet to the head.” On another post from April 2018, a commenter asked her if “H & O” — referring to former President Barack Obama and Clinton — should be hanged. Remember the lynch outside the Capitol building,??

“Stage is being set,” Greene replied, according to the archives obtained by CNN. “Players are being put in place. We must be patient. This must be done perfectly or liberal judges would let them off.”

Greene has embraced the conspiracy theory woven by QAnon, joining an unhinged cult that believes Democrats, the media elite and powerful people in Hollywood are engaged in a child trafficking ring, imprisoning children in dungeons run by Satan worshipers. Followers of the movement — which has no basis in reality — believed former President Donald Trump was battling those rogue elements and that an anonymous person or group named Q had left clues across the internet about Trump’s efforts battling the “deep state.”

Instead he continues to deny the fact that the ex President indicted an insurrection.

Even though one of the most conservative congresswoman has said the exact same words.

Liz Cheney is the daughter of former Vice President Cheney,who you supported his influence on President Bush and the Iraq war.

THE GOP IS IN DEEP TROUBLE BECAUSE OF THIS:

An Awkward Moment for QAnon
11:18 am
THE ECONOMIST:

“This is an awkward moment for the QAnon conspiracists who put their considerable faith in Donald Trump.
Inauguration Day came and went with no mass execution of Satanist Democratic pedophiles. The Storm, as a million-odd QAnon followers called that wished-for event, was a shower. So there was no Great Awakening—a post-slaughter celebration of Mr Trump—either."

HOW DISAPPOINTING FOR YOUR FANATIC FRINGE!

“But QAnon is not going away. Updated versions of it are spreading—including one on TikTok that has pushed the Storm back to March 4th. And the conspiratorial impulse behind QAnon will be even more enduring. Fully half of Mr Trump’s supporters claimed to believe its core falsehoods: that he was fighting a high-level Democratic child-sex operation. As that suggests, the conspiracy is not only dangerous in itself, but both symptom and cause of the bigger epistemic and democratic crisis that Mr Trump has moved from the MURKIER PARTS of the internet to THE REPUBLICAN MAINSTREAM.”

STILL making a big mistake!

You are being taken for a "ride" Reverend. Not that you actually are not on board with taking that ride. But what I can assure you is that 99.99% of the "Twitter accounts" (for example) being deleted for being associated with QAnon have literally nothing to do with any of that nonsense.

There are probably (at best) a few hundred people in this entire country who actually believes that Democrats are sexual deviants who sacrifice children and such... or that President Trump was actively donning a cape and mask and fighting these devil worshipers from the White House.

Under normal circumstance I would have been shocked that such ridiculous allegations continue to remain mainstream, considering the absolute lack of any evidence that any such group exists by any reasonable standards. Not to mention the ridiculous notions surrounding the "movement".

But hey... the left needs a "boogyman". Someone or something to hate and blame things on. If a made up group that apparently started in the back of a pizza shop is the best they can do, then I feel pretty sorry for them.

Fully half of Mr Trump’s supporters claimed to believe its core falsehoods:

I know hundreds of Trump supporters. Not a single one believes that Democrats are engaged in child sacrifices or sex rings.

At least no sex rings other than what we ACTUALLY know about those sex rings associated with Henry Weinstein and Jeffry Epstein.

Ohhh... if I bring up the fact that Weinstein and Epstein committed elaborate sex crimes, prostitution, and underage sex situations... and were associated with big name Hollywood liberals and a handful of politicians, does that make "me" QAnon too?

Perhaps that is the argument.

You pass along an Epstein didn't kill himself meme and you are QAnon, huh?

Near-term loss of potentially one million jobs;
• A cumulative decrease in U.S. GDP by $700 billion;
• Loss of one of the most significant sources of federal revenue;
• Loss of a major source of revenue for programs like LWCF and individual states;
• Net increase of crude imports by two million barrels per day from foreign countries, weakening U.S. energy and national security and increasing our dependence to others;
• Reduction in critical energy supplies for Americans; and,
• Legal implications from the Interior Department’s failure to meet statutory requirements
to hold lease sales.

Additionally, New Mexico, a small, poor state that receives a huge portion of their revenue for things like funding Albuquerque schools, will find this rule devastating. Such a rule could also tighten supplies, send heating and cooling bills up, and cause a spike in fuel prices during a pandemic. Furthermore, this benefits Big Oil over small independents that did not have the resources to stockpile permits. We should instead work to make sure we create jobs by hiring more inspectors to make sure methane emissions at the well head and other rules that allow for cleaner extraction are taking place.

So Andrew Mengele is fudging numbers

[NYT] ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State attorney general accused the Cuomo administration of undercounting coronavirus-related deaths at nursing homes by as much as 50 percent, according to a report released on Thursday.

The count of deaths in state nursing homes has been a source of controversy for Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and state Health Department officials, who have been sensitive to any suggestion that they played any role in the number of nursing home deaths, which the state put at more than 8,500.

They have also been accused of obscuring a more accurate estimate of nursing home deaths, because the state only counted deaths at the actual facilities, rather than including deaths of residents who were transferred to a hospital and died there.

In the 76-page report released by the attorney general, Letitia James, a survey of nursing homes found consistent discrepancies between deaths reported to the attorney general’s investigators and those officially released by the Health Department.

In one instance, an unnamed facility reported 11 confirmed and presumed deaths to the Health Department as happening on site through early August. The attorney general’s survey of that same facility, however, found 40 deaths, including 27 at the home and 13 in hospitals.

GM chief executive Mary Barra, who antagonized many climate experts by embracing President Donald Trump’s relaxation of fuel efficiency targets, said the company was eliminating all tailpipe emissions from light duty vehicles by that date. "As one of the world’s largest automakers, we hope to set an example of responsible leadership in a world that is faced with climate change,” she said on LinkedIn.

A GM executive, who asked for anonymity to describe details of the GM shift, said that the company would spend $27 billion on electric vehicles and associated products between 2020 and 2025, outstripping spending on conventional gasoline and diesel cars. That figure includes refurbishing factories and investing in battery production in conjunction with LG Chem, a South Korean battery maker.

Pelosi blasts GOP leaders for putting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Education Committee
Yahoo News

...Pelosi said the “focus” should be on GOP leaders, and that Greene’s presence on the Education Committee showed the “disregard they have for the death of those children.”

“It’s really beyond the pale,” the House speaker said.

Earlier this week, CNN published old Facebook posts that showed Greene had indicated support for executing prominent Democrats, including Pelosi, before she ran for Congress in 2020. In one post, from January 2019, Greene liked a comment that said a “bullet to the head would be quicker” to remove the House speaker.

Posts on Greene’s Facebook account also expressed support for baseless conspiracy theories about the school shootings in Newtown and Parkland. “Exactly!” she wrote in response to a post saying the Parkland massacre was a “false flag planned shooting.” She agreed with another post claiming that the Newtown shooting, in which 20 children were killed, was staged.

The man, Ian Benjamin Rogers, was charged with unlawful possession of an unregistered destructive device after investigators found five pipe bombs inside a gun safe in his business in Napa County.

Text messages on Rogers’ phone indicate he believed Donald Trump won the 2020 election and that he planned to “go to war” and attack Democrats “to ensure Trump remained in office,” FBI Special Agent Stephanie Minor wrote in the affidavit.

The President is going to make health care affordable care for millions of Americans who were denied access by the previous administration's obsession with The APA aka Obamacare.

After four years of attempts to strip health care from millions of Americans, President Biden will sign two executive actions that will begin to restore and strengthen Americans’ access to quality, affordable health care. The Biden-Harris administration will re-open enrollment to the Health Insurance Marketplace, take additional steps to strengthen Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, and protect women’s health. These actions demonstrate a strong commitment by the Biden-Harris Administration to protect and build on the Affordable Care Act, meet the health care needs created by the pandemic, reduce health care costs, protect access to reproductive health care, and make our health care system easier to navigate and more equitable.

For President Biden, this is personal. He believes that every American has a right to the peace of mind that comes with knowing they have access to affordable, quality health care. Because of the Affordable Care Act, over 100 million people no longer have to worry that an insurance company will deny coverage or charge higher premiums just because they have a pre-existing condition. Roughly 20 million additional Americans obtained the security that comes with health insurance, and young people transitioning from school to a job can stay covered by their parents’ plan until age 26.

As we continue to battle COVID-19, it is even more critical that Americans have meaningful access to affordable care. The actions the President is taking today complement the commitment he made in the American Rescue Plan to make health insurance coverage more affordable for millions of Americans. Reliable and affordable access to health insurance doesn’t just benefit families’ health; it is a critical source of economic security and peace of mind for all.

For weeks, the news about America’s slow, sloppy COVID-19 vaccination rollout has been dispiriting. There’s been too much demand and too little supply, with seniors struggling to schedule shots and providers forced to cancel appointments. At the same time, roughly half of the distributed doses haven’t even been administered. incompetent

Yet, as President Biden’s COVID-19 response team held its first press briefing Wednesday, signs of improvement were beginning to emerge.

“I know many Americans are anxious and eager to get vaccinated,” said Biden coronavirus adviser Andy Slavitt. “We are taking this issue on with urgency and purpose, despite not inheriting a fully developed strategy or infrastructure to make vaccines available to Americans.”

“It’s going to be a logistical challenge that exceeds anything we’ve ever tried in this country, but I think we can do that,” Biden said Monday. “I feel confident that by summer we’re going to be well on our way to heading toward herd immunity. I feel good about where we’re going, and I think we can get it done.”

Here are six reasons why you should expect the vaccination situation to keep getting better in the coming weeks.

1. Biden is now aiming for 1.5 million shots per day

President Biden speaking about the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday. (Doug Mills/Pool/Getty Images)More

The president and his new COVID-19 response team leader Jeff Zients have been facing blowback for initially vowing to administer just 100 million shots in the president’s first 100 days.

As many critics have pointed out, vaccination was already approaching that pace (1 million daily shots) when Biden took office; now, one week later, it’s up to 1.3 million, on average.

In response, Biden has finally set his sights even higher. “I think with the grace of God . . . we’ll be able to get that to 1.5 million a day,” the president told reporters Monday. “That’s my hope.”

Pfizer and Moderna have each committed to delivering 100 million doses of their respective vaccines by the end of March, one month before the end of Biden’s first 100 days, and Pfizer recently announced that it will be able deliver an additional 20 million doses by then, bringing the total U.S. supply through March to 220 million doses.

So far, about 47 million doses of the two vaccines have been distributed; about 25 million have been administered, according to data from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. the ex President is responsible for the failures.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- As much as $31 billion in California unemployment funds have been paid out to scammers, California EDD admits.

ABC7 News' 7 On Your Side has been tracking the numerous fraudulent claims that have been plaguing the EDD and on Monday afternoon, it confirmed that even more money than previously reported has been paid out to scammers.

In an EDD conference call, Julie Su, secretary for the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency said, "Of the 114 billion dollars in unemployment paid by California since March, approximately 10% has been confirmed as fraudulent. An additional 17% of the paid claims have been identified as potentially fraudulent."

That's $11.4 billion confirmed and as much as $20 billion more in fraud.

Woke Politics are a Disaster for Minorities

Sample

But, as demonstrated in a recent report for the Urban Reform Institute, generally speaking minorities have done much better—in terms of income and homeownership—in deep red states and regions than in the more “enlightened” blue regions. In fact, among larger metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, the median African-American income, adjusted for costs, is more than $60,000—compared to $36,000 in San Francisco and $37,000 in Los Angeles. The median income for Latinos in Virginia Beach-Norfolk is $69,000, compared to $43,000 in Los Angeles, $47,000 in San Francisco, and $40,000 in New York.

One critical measure can be seen in homeownership. Property remains key to financial security: Homes today account for roughly two thirds of the wealth of middle-income Americans. Homeowners have a median net worth more than 40 times that of renters, according to the Census Bureau. Yet in some parts of the country, notably California and the Northeast, housing prices are often out of reach for most minorities. Black home ownership in areas like Atlanta and Oklahoma City borders on 50%, compared to one third in Los Angeles, Boston, or New York. Among Hispanics, Pittsburgh, Akron, and St. Louis stand out while the least affordable housing markets include the four large California metros, Honolulu, and Boston.
