This is one of those interesting situations where the facts don't seem to jive with the statements. The reality is that the CDC website had been keeping a running count of how many vaccines
As of this morning, for instance, the CDC says that they have distributed 41,411,550 doses. They also claim that 18,502,131 people have received their first dose and another 3,216,836 have received their second dose. If the CDC doesn’t have the data, as Walensky claims, where are they getting these figures? That’s especially true for doses distributed, which doesn’t come from the states but their own figures.
Yes, provocative, isn't it? Are the numbers that the CDC have been putting out been made up all along or are statements claiming that they have no idea (and that this is Trump's fault) coming out now made up? Because one way or the other, the CDC is making "something" up here, further reducing the credibility of the Government agency that has been tasked with our response to this pandemic.
The reality is that agencies like the CDC should not require Presidential supervision overseeing the mundane details such as keeping track of numbers. Does anyone "actually" accept the concept that the CDC could not otherwise keep track of these numbers without help from Trump, or that somehow Slow Joe is going to wander on over to the CDC and help them count it out?
If the CDC doesn't know how to count or didn't bother to count, then that is on them, not Trump. Certainly if they "learn to count" over the next few weeks, this will not be any sort of Presidential accomplishment on the part of Dementia Joe Biden. But that is sort of how this is shaping up. The narrative that an entire agency became incompetent due to Trump being President and now will become competent again because he has been replaced.
Seems to me that a few others in charge need to be replaced.

It's time to play hardball!
While a unity-oriented Biden-led party can promote bipartisanship, Democrats cannot let it be a cudgel with which opponents beat them to death. The stakes are too high.
The point is, as the GOP has repeated ad nauseum for the past four years, elections matter. The people have sought a different approach from a new president who won 7 million more votes than his now disgraced opponent. Senate Democrats represent tens of millions more Americans than the GOP. It is time to give those voters a chance to be heard and Biden a chance to carry out the ideas on which he was elected — even if that means playing political hardball.
Many of those ideas — including ending the COVID-19 catastrophe, getting the economy back on its feet, rebuilding infrastructure, improving schools, combating the climate crisis, ensuring health care for all and fixing our broken democracy — in fact happen to benefit all Americans and have the support of a vast majority of Americans. That makes them pretty darned unifying.
Get rid of the sycophant people Trump flooded the institutions with experienced people who are actually qualified for their services.

"The COO of the hospital says we can access the appointments ... and has cleared [Los Gatos schools] staff to sign up under the healthcare buttons," the email from Johnson to district staff obtained by Spotlight read. Educators are part of Phase 1B in California and Santa Clara County, behind frontline staff, nursing home residents and those 65 and older.
Teachers, per the email, were told to impersonate health care workers despite the threat of perjury — with the approval of COO Gary Purushotham — in order to obtain access to the vaccine. "Remember to register under healthcare initially," Johnson's note read. He declined to comment to SFGATE.

Officials in the state of New Mexico professed to be taken aback last week by President Joe Biden’s day-one decision to impose a 60-day moratorium on all oil and gas-related leasing and permitting actions on federal lands. It is a decision that will have major ramifications on the state budgets of New Mexico and other Western states, especially if it is extended beyond its initial term and backed up by Biden’s promised ban on hydraulic fracturing on federal lands.
A little more than 2 years ago, in September, 2018, I wrote about the half-billion dollar windfall the State of New Mexico had just received during the course of a single sale of oil and gas leases on federal lands in the state. Those federal leases lie in the segment of the Permian Basin that spills over from Texas into the southeastern portion of New Mexico, part of the Delaware Basin play area that has become the hottest oil play in North America since 2016.
Like other oil and gas-producing western states, vast swaths of lands in New Mexico are owned by the federal government, including heavy concentrations of the lands in the southeastern part of the state, and in the northwestern corner that is home to a great deal of natural gas production. Although the state cannot collect its severance tax on production from those lands, it does enjoy a 50% share of the royalties that the federal government assesses on that production, which ranges from 12.5% to 16.667% of the gross value of the oil or gas. New Mexico’s collections of that share of federal royalties and proceeds from lease sales annually outpaces that of all the other Western states.
Some New Mexico officials are now trying to defend themselves by saying they didn’t anticipate the new President would issue such a ban, but such protests ring rather hollow given that they most assuredly did understand that Biden plans to move ahead with his fracking ban, which would for all intents and purposes have the same effect. After all, virtually 100% of the drilling activity in southeast New Mexico targets the various shale formations in the Delaware Basin, and all shale wells require a frac job in order to be productive. Thus, a ban on fracking is the same thing as a ban on leasing and drilling.

Tonight the Senate majority leader Schumer got rid of the filibuster.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell backed down from his demand that any Senate power-sharing agreement include protections for the legislative filibuster, after Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema reaffirmed their opposition Monday to scrapping the procedural tool.
“Today, two Democratic Senators publicly confirmed they will not vote to end the legislative filibuster,” McConnell said in a statement. “They agree with President Biden’s and my view that no Senate majority should destroy the right of future minorities of both parties to help shape legislation.”
While Democrats hold the Senate majority, the chamber’s 50-50 split means that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and McConnell need to establish a power sharing agreement, also known as an organizing resolution.
Schumer had refused to make a commitment that would tie Democrats' hands and many in the caucus were growing angry with McConnell's resistance.
“We’re glad Senator McConnell threw in the towel and gave up on his ridiculous demand," said Justin Goodman, a spokesperson for Schumer. "We look forward to organizing the Senate under Democratic control and start getting big, bold things done for the American people.”

An explosion destroyed a home in Gaza Saturday morning as terrorists attempted to prepare explosives to purportedly attack Israel, according to an IDF tweet.
The explosion took place in the home of a Hamas operative and at least 30 were injured in the explosion, according to Israeli media.
Pictures posted on Twitter by the IDF showed the massive extent of damage to the house from the blast.
Avichay Adraee, the IDF spokesperson for Arabic media, said on Twitter that the explosion was a result of storing weapons in the house. Adraee went on to say that "the story of the house is the story of many homes in the Gaza Strip," that are being used for weapons storage.
"They have turned [homes] into warehouses of weapons, military parts and missiles for terrorist organizations and the people who pay the price in the end are the innocent civilians," Adraee said.
