Have liberal anonymous sources changed their minds?
So pretty much from the time that it became apparently that Pelosi and gang would misuse their power of impeachment a second time, the "sources to be" have determined that there as an ever-increasing group of GOP Senators who were planning on voting guilty in order to purge Trump from the GOP. These sources had everything from evidence of behind the scenes conspiracies, to secret statements being leaked to CNN, and everything in between. In the minds of these liberal political pundits, the Senate was almost certain to find Trump guilty, which would then provide a second vote to ban him from running for public office again.
This was always nonsense. I stated as much from the start.
Now, apparently these same sources are changing their tune. Apparently they are now hearing (or claiming to hear) that a bunch of GOP Senators really really want to vote to find Trump guilty, but are "under pressure" from powerful pro-Trump forces to acquit him all the same. According to these sources, it now appears unlikely that Trump will be found guilty, based on an equally dishonest and untrue concept that Republican Senators are now unwilling to vote their conscience.
This, of course, is just as nonsensical as the first rumor mill.
The truth is that there has always been a small faction of anti-Trumpers who became largely marginalized as Trump evolved as President. If anyone was talking to CNN, it wasn't mainstream Republicans. It was those ostracized and disgruntled anti-Trumpers making shit up. What likely happened is that these anti-Trumpers felt suddenly empowered after Trump's election defeat, probably thought that Capital riots provided them with an opening, and made some poor assumptions about what the mainstream Republicans were thinking or what they were going to do.
But if you look at what happened to Liz Cheney when she voted to impeach Trump, or even what happened to Mitch McConnell back in Kentucky when he simply provided a fairly negative statement about the President, it's fairly obvious that there really isn't the sort of anti-Trump sentiment that some might believe there is (or should be) within the mainstream portions of the Party.
So what about the impeachment trial itself and everyone voting their conscience?
Let's be clear.
The idea that the Capital riot amounted to a plan to take over the country and that Trump was pulling the strings is absurd at it's core. That is just an undeniable fact to anyone not afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome. Whether you believe that what the President did or didn't do in the lead up to the riot was not appropriate, his behavior is a long ways from the allegations that he was leading an armed coup against the Federal Government.
The political play here seems to be similar to the first impeachment. Find something that you believe that the President did that was inappropriate. Define it as a horrible crime against the fabric of our nation, and then challenge that everyone who doesn't agree with your description as akin to believing he did nothing wrong. The argument is logical fallacies wrapped around logical fallacies.
That didn't work the first time and it won't work the second time either.

BIDS Biden Is Demented Syndrome #BIDS.
Is all over the right wing mow.
Let's be clear.
The idea that the attempted Insurrection
amounted to a plan to take over the country,by murdering the Vice President Pence and the speaker of the house of representatives Pelosi and that Trump was pulling the strings to stop the counting of the electoral college votes is absolutely correct at it's core.
Even the conservative former majority leader Mitch McConnell said that it was an Insurrection. He didn't use the exact words, but for reasons you refuse to believe Thecoldheartedtruth.
You have betrayed yourself
Mitch McConnell has not said the CNN story is not credible

Roger, you believe, killing domestic Oil, Union jobs is the right thing to do?
Although it is true that Mitch McConnell quite apparently wants to get Trump off the neck of the GOP, he is facing a lot of blowback on that. A lot of Republicans would like to be rid of Trump, but afraid to do what is necessary to cut him off, which would be convicting him and thus preventing him from being able to run in 2024.
Then too, in his anger Trump might very well hurt the GOP perhaps even more by forming a third party, something he would not hesitate to do, just to salve his ego.
So you see, the GOP is in deep doo doo however this may go.
1) If Trump is convicted, the blowback will be harmful.
2) If he is not, Trump's future shenanigans will remain harmful.
3) And if he forms a third party, that will surely hurt Republicans.
This is extremely intriguing, and I am looking forward with great delighted interest to what happens, whatever way it goes, for all are grim for the GOP.
Their options all are grim for them, joyful for me, for either way, the GOP gets hurt.
You're welcome. :-)
Either way, the GOP gets hurt.

Reverend...
Understand that Donald Trump got 95% of the GOP vote in the last election and that the GOP was almost equal to the Democrats in terms of percentage of the total vote.
That is something that no Republican candidate has achieved since Ronald Reagan. Bush came close in 2004, but the rest (Romney, McCain, etc... collected under 90% of the GOP voters and allowed Democrats to dominate the GOTV).
You seem very confused by what certain politicians, liberal media personalities, and never-Trumpers are saying or speculating about. At the end of the day this is pretty simple.
Conservatives have always been concerned with some of Trump's personal traits, wished he would have limited his Twitter output, conceded the election earlier, and sometimes not chased down personal issues in the public square.
But they also loved his policy choices, they loved the manner in which he fought back in areas where too many Republicans are afraid to go, and they loved the fact that if he actually got stuff done.
People like Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, and others are not reflective of the Party moving forward. I suspect that the GOP will nominate someone who isn't going to pretend that if they act liberal enough, that the media will decide to like them.
Reagan was hated by the left. Bush was called Hitler. McCain was called a racist old angry man. Romney was called a White elitists and a bully. In reality, these were probably four of the nicest people in all of politics and they were treated like the enemy. They were treated not much better than Trump was treated.
So Republicans don't win by going nice. Reagan won because he stood for something. Same with Bush. Romney and McCain lost because they had no convictions and because they thought politics was about moderation and compromise.
You seem to forget that the GOP is the 70-80 million voters, just as the Democratic Party are the voters. It's not Mitch McConnell and Liz Cheney and it certainly isn't about what some people claim that these people are thinking.
In fact what you hear about what Mitch McConnell or Mitt Romney or anyone else is thinking or planning or wanting... figure it's all worth about 1/100th of 1 percent of what actually matters as it pertains to the "Party" as a whole.
James, debate this topic.
Do you believe, killing domestic Oil, Union jobs is the right thing to do?
The Whole Republican Party Is on Trial

Max Boot:
“When the impeachment proceedings begin in the Senate, it will not be just Donald Trump in the dock. The entire Republican Party will be on trial. And there is every reason to believe that the GOP will fail this test — as it failed every other during the past four years.”
