Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was so sure of that outcome that he says he personally told Trump that this trial is still going nowhere. "I reinforced to the president, the case is over," Graham said he told Trump, per the Hill pool. "It’s just a matter of getting the final verdict now."
Graham was supposedly one of the Senators with whom the President had fallen out of favor, and was said to be "open to" a guilty vote if the case was proven. But with this statement along with reports that most of the Republicans have ignored the case being put forth by Democrats, it would take a minor (or possibly a major) miracle for impeachment to go anywhere.
All the rest is just political theater, as it has been from the start. I expect the real show to start when the Trump attorneys turn the tables and spend hours showing Democrats hypocritically call for political violence against Trump, Republicans, and even rank and file conservative Americans. I wonder if Democrats will "refuse to watch" that.
The only question will be by how many votes does the President win this deal?

indeed.
democrats are so fucking stupid, and so consumed by their Stage IV TDS, they can't even see that they're making a martyr out of the guy.
his support probably RISES, irrespective of a conviction. and stopping him from serving again? he's 74, for fuck's sake. he'll bluster that he wants to, but he won't run again. he's having more fun on the outside of the tent pissing IN, than he could ever have on the inside of the tent pissing OUT.
the dems in congress have all of the intellect and political savvy of the alky.
and you know what that means...
...THWAAAAAAAPPPPP!!!!!!!
The demise of the Rs is greatly exaggerated
Marcy Kaptur’s warning
Marcy Kaptur is the longest-serving woman in the current Congress.
She has also been in the U.S. House of Representatives longer than any woman has served there, in all of U.S. history.
She came to the Congress in 1983.
She is 74 and has been a Democrat her entire voting life.
You might think she is worth listening to.
As it happens, she has a message for her party: Wake up.
Wake up or you will lose the House in the next election and maybe not regain it for many years.
Wake up or you will lose the working class to the Republicans, for good.
It is already happening.
Ms. Kaptur points out that leadership in the House is dominated by members from the two coasts and from wealthy districts.
A political realignment is taking place. Rural America is already Republican and, more specifically, Trumpian. Now more and more working-class and working-poor Americans are leaving the Democratic Party and voting Republican. Why? Because they feel their plight, their reality, has at least been recognized by Donald Trump’s GOP.
Mind you, Ms. Kaptur thinks Donald Trump did nothing for these voters, and never seriously intended to. She also thinks he is psychologically “unbalanced.” But she recognizes what he recognized: what has happened to manufacturing and the working class in places like Toledo, Lorain, Lordstown and Youngstown, Wheeling, the Mon Valley, as well as parts of Greater Cleveland, and Buffalo, and large swaths of Greater Detroit.
She represents a district characterized by economic decline — Toledo, Lorain and parts of Greater Cleveland.
But these places and the people who live in them, says Ms. Kaptur, are largely invisible to her Democratic colleagues in the House who are busy forming caucuses around identity politics. They don’t get her part of America and they aren’t interested. She says that one colleague told her people should just move away.
And there is no one like her, no one from a district like hers, in Democratic leadership. “It’s been very hard for regions like mine, which have had great economic attrition, to get fair standing” in leadership, she says.
Instead, Ms. Kaptur says her colleagues tell her, upfront, that they don’t get her or her voters.
Why don’t people just move away from a place like Lorain, Ohio? Well, maybe because they were born there and their families are there.
Ms. Kaptur still lives in the same simple house where she grew up, in Toledo.
She is an old-fashioned Roosevelt-Truman Democrat. But does she feel like a minority, a lonely voice, in the House caucus and in her party? “Yes, I do,” she says.
Well, Ms. Kaptur is not going to retire or change parties or become a congresswoman without a party. She will keep on, and keep fighting for what she believes. Her latest cause is to establish an infectious disease unit in the National Institutes of Health.
But she, like many Democrats, is disillusioned and alienated.
A devout Catholic, she cannot share the obsessive enthusiasm of her party for abortion. She is for women’s rights and rights to privacy, but not for government funding of abortion or late-term abortion.
She is an environmentalist, passionate about saving Lake Erie, but she also wants to save the auto industry — all that is left of industry in Toledo or Detroit.
Cultural questions are tough ones, morally and politically, but most people seek a balance.
And, no small thing, Ms. Kaptur has been seriously disrespected by her party. She has been denied a major committee chairmanship after all these years — 20 terms in the House. Think about that and what it means to disrespect that.
“I think economics can bind us. I think that when we divide into too many subgroups, we lose the overarching theme,” says the congresswoman.
She’s right. Dead right.
Plaskett describes in chilling details how the mob wanted to kill Pence, Pelosi
Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) described in chilling detail how the rioters set out to kill Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and how close they came to not only the first and second in line to the presidency, but also their family and staff.
“They said that anyone they got their hands on, they would have killed, including Nancy Pelosi. And that, quote, ‘they would have killed Vice President Mike Pence if given the chance.’ They were talking about assassinating the vice president of the United States,” Plaskett said, citing an FBI affidavit.
She showed how the mob spread out through the Capitol searching for Pelosi, and that so grave was the threat to her life that she was taken to an off-site location away from the Capitol complex.
She read from one rioters’ own Facebook post: “The first of us who got upstairs kicked in Nancy Pelosi’s office door and pushed down the halls towards her inner sanctum, the mob howling with rage Crazy Nancy probably would have been torn into little pieces, but she was nowhere to be seen.”
“Crazy Nancy,” Plaskett said. “That’s Trump’s nickname for the speaker of the House.”
By Felicia Sonmez and Elyse Samuels
“Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify,” Trump said. “USA demands the truth!”
She showed video of the rioters chanting: “Nancy, where are you, Nancy? We’re looking for you.” Another tauntingly called, “Nancy. Oh, Nancy.”
Security video also shows Pelosi’s staffers running into one room where they barricaded themselves, and then inside an interior room. Minutes later, the rioters are seen in the same hallway where the staff had just been, and men are seen throwing their bodies against that outer door. One gets inside, but gives up when faced with the inner room.
The staffers could hear them calling for Pelosi as they ransacked and took over her office. Plaskett points out that in the now-infamous photo of one man sitting at a desk with his foot on it, he is carrying a stun gun the FBI identified as a 950,000-volt walking stick, a weapon that could have caused serious pain and incapacitation had it been used.
“President Trump put a target on their backs,” Plaskett said in closing, “and his mob broke into the Capitol to hunt them down.”

GOP Senators Themselves Bolstered the Lie That Drove the Capitol Riot

Philip Bump:
“The House impeachment managers arguing for Trump to be convicted by the Senate are… framing that day as the culmination of months of incitement by the former president.
Before the Nov. 3 election, Trump claimed that he could lose his reelection bid only if rampant fraud occurred;
once he lost, that’s precisely what he alleged.
Week after week, Trump elevated any random allegation of fraud in an effort to show that something suspect had occurred,
to create a miasma of uncertainty aimed at rationalizing his effort to peel back Joe Biden’s win.
It was successful:
Most Republicans still falsely believe that the election was marred by fraud.
“Trump had a lot of assistance in pushing that case,
including from the conservative media and his campaign team.
But he was also assisted by a large segment of the Republican Senate caucus, the group that is currently being asked to see his behavior after the election as part of an effort to overthrow the results of the presidential election.
“Nearly half of the Republican caucus, in other words, is being asked to judge that the falsehood they helped propel was an instrumental part of an attempted insurrection against the U.S. government.”

Fat chance they will suddenly become honest enough to stand up for what the entire world sees as the obvious truth.
Scott is right that this is just political theater. The difference is, the truth is being told by our side; denied by the other.
That is how history will record it,
because that is how it is playing out.
Demonstrations against Trump is freedom of speech.
Inciting an Insurrection is a high crime or a misdemeanor.
Trump put a target on the speaker of the house of Representatives and incited murder.

Anyone who watches what happened at our US Capitol and does not think it was horrible is not an American. Anyone who does not know who caused it by lying for months about voter fraud has been brainwashed by the political equivalent of a cult. The Stop the Steal political theatre, tried to steal our democratic republic. Our former president is a evil human being, who only cares about himself and his power. I believe everyone who participated in the capitol insurrection should go to prison, including Trump.

Good people on both sides. These men invaded the Capitol
Like Reffitt, Mathew Capsel, of Marseilles, Illinois, continued threatening and illegal actions toward women even after he was arrested in Washington on Jan. 6. Two days later, Capsel violated a protection order — one of multiple violations in the past year — that was filed by a romantic partner after a report of violence (Capsel’s partner declined to speak with HuffPost). Capsel was also arrested for “battery, mob action and robbery” in 2012 when he was involved in an incident in which he allegedly hit a woman “3-4 times in the head,” according to a police report. He does not appear to have faced criminal charges following his arrest in that case.
The rap sheets of other rioters are littered with similar charges. A California civil court in 2018 issued a restraining order against Jacob Lewis, another Capitol rioter, to prevent domestic violence, according to court records. The 37-year-old Lewis is better known as the California gym owner who defied COVID-19 safety regulations.
Samuel Pinho Camargo, 26, was arrested for battery in 2016 after he “intentionally caused bodily harm” to his sister, according to a police report. The report states that Camargo broke a door off its hinges and attacked his sister. Both the sister and a witness told police that Camargo has “a history of anger issues” and “a history of him hitting them and leaving bruises.”
Dominic Pezzola, a former Marine, had a shotgun removed from his home after police were called there in 2005 over a domestic dispute. The police report notes that Pezzola had a protection order filed against him at the time. Pezzola, who smashed a Capitol building window with a police riot shield during the insurrection, is a member of the far-right extremist group the Proud Boys, which is known for its emphasis on “traditional” masculinity.
Andrew Ryan Bennett, who was seen entering the Capitol chanting “break it down!” and wearing a Proud Boys hat, has a long rap sheet that includes many incidences of violence against women. In 2003, Bennett was arrested after he broke down a glass door at a tattoo parlor and attacked a woman. He later served 18 months in prison for second-degree criminal assault.
Police responded to another incident in 2003 in which Bennett’s mother said her son “was out of control trying to fight” and “had been drinking and was becoming more and more aggressive to her and others,” according to a police report.
In 2009, police responded to an incident of family violence in which Bennett assaulted his sister and almost poured bleach on his 2-year-old nephew. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property and reckless endangerment. In response to HuffPost’s request for Bennett’s records, one record was withheld because it pertained to a child abuse case.

Fighting words are, as first defined by the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) in Chaplinsky v New Hampshire, 315 U.S. 568 (1942), words which "by their very utterance, inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace. ... Fighting words are a category of speech that is unprotected by the First Amendment."
Even if f the police officer is found not guilty, there will not be dangerous demonstrations because we elected President Joe Biden .
At trial, the central question will most likely be the exact cause of Mr. Floyd’s death. The county medical examiner ruled the death a homicide caused by a combination of the officers’ use of force, the presence of fentanyl and methamphetamine in Mr. Floyd’s system and his underlying health conditions. But Mr. Chauvin’s defense strategy, which has emerged in numerous court filings from his lawyer, Eric Nelson, is centered on presenting medical evidence that Mr. Floyd died of a drug overdose.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on former President Donald Trump’s second Senate impeachment trial (all times local):
4:50 p.m.
Rioters at the Capitol were targeting former Vice President Mike Pence, who refused to help his boss, former President Donald Trump, subvert the results of the 2020 election.
In video showed Wednesday at Trump’s second impeachment trial, rioters chanted “Hang Mike Pence!” and “Bring out Pence!” as they roamed the halls searching for the former vice president and other lawmakers. Outside, the mob set up a makeshift gallows on the field near the Capitol.
Rioters got as close as 100 feet to Pence. Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman helped guide rioters away from where he was hiding.
House impeachment manager Stacey Plaskett said, “You can hear the mob calling for the death of the vice president of the United States.”
House Managers Show Stunning Video of Capitol Riot
6:16 pm
New York Times:
“Whispered, panicked calls from terrified staff members barricaded in an office.
Violent scenes of smashed windows and kicked-open doors.
Frenzied audio between Capitol Police officers.
“On the second day of the impeachment trial, the House impeachment managers showed senators previously unseen Capitol security footage, offering a chilling portrait of the violence unleashed by the pro-Trump mob at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“The new evidence was introduced by Delegate Stacey Plaskett of the Virgin Islands, who crafted a methodical narrative of the day, marking each new video with a time stamp.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) continued the presentation.”
CBS News:
New footage shows Officer Goodman directing Sen. Mitt Romney to safety.
The Facts Justify Trump’s Impeachment
6:33 pm
John Podhoretz:
“I understand Republicans in the Senate are not going to vote in sufficient numbers to convict Trump
—let’s say because their constituents do not want it,
or he poses a political danger to them,
or, who knows, they might actually fear for their lives from the same kinds of people who were in the building on January 6.
"But how can they have watched the footage of Mitt Romney narrowly avoiding his own murder and not understanding that could have been any one of them?
And how can they avoid the understanding that the mob was there because Trump summoned a crowd to Washington on that day?
“Are they just going to let… it… slide?"
__________
Yes, but it won't slide off the GOP for a long, long time.
Get Woke and Go Broke.
"Sunday's Super Bowl was watched by just 91.6 million people on CBS, the lowest number of viewers for the game on traditional broadcast television since 2006."

“Like I have said all along that I am going to listen to the arguments and look at the evidence, and I’m doing that. Impeachment Video Reveals True American Horror Story
8:08 pm
James Poniewozik:
“We saw the attack the day it happened, of course. We saw more of it in the days after.
But we’d never seen it so completely, so sweepingly.
“What the impeachment managers put together wasn’t simply a deluge of shocking clips. It was a complex, edited narrative that moved us from one vantage point to another
— Mr. Trump, the mob, the police, the fleeing lawmakers and staffers.
“The daylong arguments also had dramatic structure,
including cliffhanger-like act breaks as the trial went into recesses…
But there was also a larger, serial arc that laid out, over the course of months,
the charge that Mr. Trump had primed his followers to believe he could lose the election only if it were rigged;
that he cheered on violence in his name;
that he publicized the Jan. 6 rally
and targeted politicians
— including his own vice president —
in a series of increasingly furious tweets.
“All of this was an effort to use the tools of television — imagery, emotion, montage — to build a case against a president who was made by and obsessed with TV.”
A WELL DONE LAYING OUT OF THE CASE.
Local Committees Attack Republicans Who Turn on Trump
9:06 pm
Washington Post:
“Since Trump left office, grass-roots Republican activists and state parties have become his vociferous defenders,
condemning and censuring elected Republicans who dare to deviate in any way from full-throated support of the former president.
That has created a backlash of its own, as some Republicans
— even some who eventually may oppose impeachment —
are pushing back against local leadership.
“The resulting clashes have laid bare the division in the Republican Party,
which some strategists worry will undercut the party’s chances in the 2022 midterm elections,
when winning House and Senate majorities are likely to hinge on a united party that can draw out Trump’s supporters and win converts from among swing voters who were repelled by the former president’s politics.
“As it stands, the party is still a long way from that sort of unity.”
AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE. :-)

Ex-GOP Officials Look to Form Anti-Trump Party
10:22 pm
“Dozens of former Republican officials, who view the party as unwilling to stand up to former President Donald Trump and his attempts to undermine U.S. democracy, are in talks to form a center-right breakaway party,” Reuters reports.
“The early stage discussions include former elected Republicans, former officials in the Republican administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Trump, ex-Republican ambassadors and Republican strategists.
“More than 120 of them held a Zoom call last Friday to discuss the breakaway group, which would run on a platform of ‘principled conservatism,’ including adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law –
ideas those involved say have been trashed by Trump.”
From a friend.
I sent the following letter to Senator Thune and another one addressed to Senator Rounds through their filtered email systems:
-------------------------
Dear Senator Thune,
I listened and watched with interest the propaganda, and outright lies that Donald Trump perpetrated on the American people before, during, and after the 2020 election.
I do not live in an information silo. I get my information from a wide range of sources. I learned to do that while serving in the U.S. Foreign Service from 1985 to 2006.
I watched live the sickening and treasonous rhetoric by Donald Trump and his enablers on January 6, 2021 in which, coupled with his previous propaganda incited a mob that he personally summoned to come from afar to attack our U.S. Capitol.
I listened to and watched the impeachment trial proceedings. There is no defense for what Donald Trump has done to our great Nation.
There is no defense for Donald Trump's conspiracy to commit attempted murder of Vice President Pence and members of Congress.
I call on you as an honorable Senator and citizen of South Dakota to vote that Donald Trump is guilty of the articles of Impeachment presented by the House of Representatives.
For Donald Trump's entire life, he has never been held accountable. Why? We are in a post truth era. Why?
Again, I call on you as an honorable Senator and citizen of South Dakota to vote that Donald Trump is guilty of the articles of Impeachment presented by the House of Representatives.
Sincerely,
None of your business
The RINO Wall Street Journal reports good news for President Biden.
The most severe surge of the pandemic in the U.S. has weakened significantly over the past month. Newly reported cases have now been under 100,000 for three days in a row, and have dropped by more than 50% over the past month, based on a seven-day average. Hospitalizations, which have also seen a steady and steep decline, fell below 80,000 for the first time since Nov. 18.
But those metrics remain high and new, more transmissible variants, officials say, could reverse gains. As states begin relaxing public-health measures amid easing caseloads, the White House plans to ramp up a public-safety campaign focused on social distancing and mask wearing. A new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said wearing a double mask or fitting a single mask more closely on the face substantially reduces the risk of infection with the Covid-19 virus.

Cases are decreasing and again masking works asshole
Fascist people have destroyed the Republican party now.
The early stage discussions include former elected Republicans, former officials in the Republican administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Trump, ex-Republican ambassadors and Republican strategists, the people involved say.
More than 120 of them held a Zoom call last Friday to discuss the breakaway group, which would run on a platform of “principled conservatism,” including adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law - ideas those involved say have been trashed by Trump.
The plan would be to run candidates in some races but also to endorse center-right candidates in others, be they Republicans, independents or Democrats, the people say.
Evan McMullin, who was chief policy director for the House Republican Conference and ran as an independent in the 2016 presidential election, told Reuters that he co-hosted the Zoom call with former officials concerned about Trump’s grip on Republicans and the nativist turn the party has taken.
Three other people confirmed to Reuters the call and the discussions for a potential splinter party, but asked not to be identified.
Among the call participants were John Mitnick, general counsel for the Department of Homeland Security under Trump; former Republican congressman Charlie Dent; Elizabeth Neumann, deputy chief of staff in the Homeland Security Department under Trump; and Miles Taylor, another former Trump homeland security official.
The talks highlight the wide intraparty rift over Trump’s false claims of election fraud and the deadly Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol. Most Republicans remain fiercely loyal to the former president, but others seek a new direction for the party.
The House of Representatives impeached Trump on Jan. 13 on a charge of inciting an insurrection by exhorting thousands of supporters to march on the Capitol on the day Congress was gathered to certify Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory.
Call participants said they were particularly dismayed by the fact that more than half of the Republicans in Congress - eight senators and 139 House representatives - voted to block certification of Biden’s election victory just hours after the Capitol siege.
Cases are decreasing and again masking works asshole
where mask compliance is highest, cases and deaths are highest.

The Entire Republican Party Is on Trial
7:29 am
Walter Shapiro:
“In truth, citizens of Paris in 1794 displayed more courage in risking the guillotine than Republican senators do in contemplating a Trump-backed primary challenge or being occasionally shunned at the country club.
“We are watching an entire political party on trial just one month after the failed putsch at the Capitol. Beyond Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz and their ilk, how can retiring Republicans with reasonable reputations like Ohio’s Rob Portman and North Carolina’s Richard Burr live with themselves as they ignore the evidence of Trump’s determined efforts to overturn a free election?
“It would be fascinating to know the thoughts that were going through Mitch McConnell’s cynical brain as he watched the Democratic presentation in his standard tight-lipped fashion. What may resonate with McConnell is not principle (good luck ever finding that in his mental makeup) but pure political self-interest.”
THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT COUNTS WITH HIM.
AND WITH REPUGS. POWER. IT'S ALL AND ONLY ABOUT POWER. NOT THE GOOD OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, BUT POWER, SHEER POWER.
“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) isn’t pressuring fellow Republicans to acquit former President Trump as the impeachment trial appears poised to wrap as soon as this weekend,” The Hill reports.
“GOP senators have discussed their individual views about the trial behind closed doors this week, including at lunch meetings, but McConnell has limited his remarks to procedural steps and the timeline.”
REMINDER: Kamala Harris Joked About Killing President Trump and Then Let Out a Horrible Cackle – Is This Impeachable?
Oh, the horror.
The Democrats are parsing President Trump’s words in their effort to impeach him and hide the real story, that they criminally stole the 2020 Presidential election.
But very few Americans are interested and most are outraged since the majority appear to have voted for President Trump. Americans have watched as our country and Constitution has been torn apart by Democrats with Republican consent over the past decade. No one liked Obama’s policies which is why America voted for President Trump. American’s loved President Trump’s policies and economy which is why they voted for him in record numbers.
But the Democrats were done with elections and so they stole it. Next, they attempted to impeach him in an unconstitutional effort to keep him from running in the future after the world uncovers their criminal deeds in stealing the 2020 election.
In this effort, they have such a week and embarrassing case that they are parsing his words and tweets in an effort to attempt to build their case. But what they haven’t considered is that if their rules are applied across the board individuals like Kamala Harris should be impeached.

Repeating what Roger has already admitted is not grounds for a lawsuit.
I was never charged for crimes allegations are a civil suit for divorce.
I fucked up my life and lost her.
But I have moved forward since.

This timeline of events on Jan. 6 in Washington, D.C., is based on public statements, eyewitness accounts from Wall Street Journal reporters, authenticated videos, testimony at the Senate impeachment trial and interviews with participants.
1 a.m. President Trump tweets: “If Vice President @Mike_Pence comes through for us, we will win the Presidency. Many States want to decertify the mistake they made in certifying incorrect & even fraudulent numbers in a process NOT approved by their State Legislatures (which it must be.) Mike can send it back!”
8:17a.m. Mr. Trump tweets: “States want to correct their votes, which they now know were based on irregularities and fraud, plus corrupt process never received legislative approval. All Mike Pence has to do is send them back to the States, AND WE WIN. Do it Mike, this is a time for extreme courage!”
Midmorning Before the rally of Trump supporters at the Ellipse, which would culminate in a 70-minute speech by Mr. Trump, a man with a bullhorn is walking around the National Mall telling people that protesters plan to march to the Capitol after the president finishes his speech. Others are spreading the word as well.

Around 10 a.m. A man wearing military tactical gear, standing with a group of people similarly kitted out, says within earshot of Journal reporters that he wants to forcefully enter the Capitol. The group engages in a minor scuffle with police after approaching the entrance to the Washington Monument.
11:35 a.m. A group of Proud Boys are already gathered on the east side of the Capitol, according to videos of the scene. One of them, Joe Biggs, can be seen equipped with a radio and coordinating with members of the far-right group. Dan Scott, another Proud Boys member known as Milkshake, can be heard shouting “Let’s take the f—ing Capitol!” only to be chastised by another: “Let’s not f—ing yell that, all right?”
11:57 a.m. Mr. Trump takes the stage at the Ellipse and begins his speech.

12:20 p.m. While the president is still speaking, hundreds of people begin making their way to the Capitol down Constitution and Pennsylvania avenues, many listening to Mr. Trump’s remarks as they walk.
12:35 p.m. Journal reporters arriving at the west side of the Capitol see dozens of men huddled in a large group in the street on Constitution Avenue and wearing military-style tactical gear, many of them in orange hats.
12:45 p.m. Trump supporters continue to gather along the fence line at the edge of the traffic circle of First Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue, at the base of the northwest lawn of the Capitol. Some call out over a first row of barricades toward five Capitol police officers standing behind a second row of barricades inside the stone gates of the Capitol complex. The crowd is mostly milling around.
12:48 p.m. The orange-hatted group in tactical gear marches down First Street NW and around the Peace Monument toward the outer set of barricades set up by police on the curb below the first staircase leading to the west front of the Capitol. They chant “F— antifa!”
