Latest on Covid

Now approximately 175,000 deaths under Joe Biden (30% of all deaths)

He had a plan to stop Covid in it's tracks

Now obviously everyone had assumed that with a vaccine being pushed out at 2-3 million people a day, with all of the people previously infected (and therefore would have anti-bodies) that we would be seeing a massive drop in cases and deaths. But we are still seeing 50,000 or more new cases and hundreds of deaths a day.

Not that I am "blaming" Joe Biden, anymore than I "blamed" Donald Trump. What this points out very factually is that Joe Biden did not have a plan and we are not as far along as most people would have expected based on the rate of vaccinations. All this means is that there was never really any silver bullet here. The virus is going to do what the virus is going to do.

Well, India started allowing mass weddings and mass political assemblies, and now they are having the worst exploding rates of cases and deaths in the world. They are in a horrible situation regarding lack of enough oxygen, and people are dying because of that.

FACT SHEET: Executive Order Establishing the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment

APRIL 26, 2021 • STATEMENTS AND RELEASES

Today, President Biden will sign an Executive Order establishing the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment. The Task Force will be dedicated to mobilizing the federal government’s policies, programs, and practices to empower workers to organize and successfully bargain with their employers. Chaired by Vice-President Kamala Harris and Vice-Chaired by Secretary Marty Walsh, the Task Force will include more than twenty cabinet members and heads of other federal agencies who will take a whole-of-government approach to empower workers.

Background

President Biden and Vice-President Harris have long championed workers’ rights. As the President has said: America was built by the middle class, and unions built the middle class. Throughout our country’s history, unions have been the driving forces for advancements in workers’ rights and improved living standards for union and non-union workers. They have fought for higher wages, greater job security, safety and health laws, essential benefits like health insurance and retirement plans, and protections from discrimination and sexual harassment for millions of workers across the country. Sixteen million workers in the United States are union members or in a job that provides them union representation. More than six in ten of those workers are women and/or people of color. Union workers earn roughly 13% more than non-union workers on a similar job site. They also experience drastically lower rates of labor standards violations, like employers wage theft or workplace safety and health hazards.

Despite the importance of unions to our economy and democracy, and nearly 60 million workers today saying they would join a union if given the chance, American workers have faced increasing barriers to organizing and bargaining collectively with their employers. Economic change in the United States and globally, technological developments, and the failure to modernize federal organizing and labor-management relations laws so they respond appropriately to the reality found in American workplaces have made worker organizing exceedingly difficult. The result has been a steady decline in union membership in the United States over past decades. In 2020, union members made up just 10.8% of the U.S. workforce, down from more than 30% in the 1950s.

Sweden still allows everyone to do everything... they don't seem to have any problems like India?

In fact, Sweden (criticized for being a top 10 deaths per million) are now falling down the charts and currently reign at 30th. They are now in the lower half of Europe when at one time they were near the top.

I guess we never really know how these things will turn out or why it attacks certain places more than others. As much as liberals would love to pretend that they have the answers.

Vice President Kamala Harris will serve as the Task Force’s Chair and Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh will serve as the Vice-Chair. The Task Force will be comprised of more than twenty cabinet members and heads of other federal agencies that have powerful levers to help the Task Force carry out its mission. The Task Force will engage with a diverse set of leaders in the labor movement, academia, advocacy groups, and beyond to seek ideas for potential federal action and feedback on initiatives under consideration.

The Task Force will be a historic effort to put the federal government’s policy of encouraging worker organizing and collective bargaining into action. The Task Force will endeavor to achieve the following four goals:

Lead by example by ensuring that the federal government is a model employer with respect to encouraging worker organizing and collective bargaining among its workforce.Facilitate worker organizing across the country by taking an all-of-government approach to mobilize the federal government’s policies, programs, and practices to provide workers the opportunity to organize and bargain collectively.Increase worker power in underserved communities by examining and seeking to address the particular challenges to worker organizing in jurisdictions with restrictive labor laws; the added challenges that marginalized workers in many communities encounter, including women and people of color; and the heightened barriers to organizing workers in certain industries.Increase union membership across the United States to grow a more inclusive middle class and provide workers the opportunity to come together for the purpose of mutual advancement, the dignity of worker and workers, respect, and the fair compensation they deserve.

In the wake of the latest Covid-19 surge that has left India grappling for medical oxygen and other essentials to save lives, Indian-Americans are gearing up to help the country overcome the pandemic.

Indian-American non-profit organisation Sewa International USA, is aiming to raise five million dollars — has already raised over 1.5 million dollars — in response to the deadly second wave of Covid-19 in India within less than two days. It is sending an initial shipment of 400 oxygen concentrators along with other emergency medical devices and supplies to India immediately, the organisation said.

Sewa is working on procuring more from multiple suppliers around the world to ease oxygen shortage caused by the surging numbers of Covid-19 cases in India. The organisation said it has started the “Help India Defeat Covid-19” campaign to ship oxygen concentrators to Indian hospitals.

Sewa is also providing food and medicines to about 10,000 families and more than 1,000 orphanages, and senior citizen centers across the country, it said.

Slow Joe didn't need a plan. The table was set for him and placed on auto-pilot by Trump, and all Dementia Boy needed to do was NOT fuck it up.

What's particularly impressive to me is the double masks POST vaccination. Vaccination rates are waning in some states, mostly by the young, who are wise enough to ask -

"If you've been vaccinated, why mask at all?"

Good question.

Slow Joe was the lone world leader on a recent web-ex who sat double-masked WITHOUT our flag in the frame.

The United States has also partly vaccinated about 41 percent of its population and said Sunday that it had removed impediments to the export of raw materials for vaccines to help India control the world’s worst outbreak.

India is recording more than a third of all new global cases each day, averaging more than 260,000 new daily cases over the past week. The country’s sudden surge, driven by the spread of a newer variant, is casting increasing doubt on the official death toll of nearly 200,000, with more than 2,000 people dying every day.

Experts say the official numbers, however staggering, represent just a part of the virus’s spread, with hospitals overwhelmed and lacking critical supplies like oxygen.

India is home to the Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine maker. But only about 8.6 percent of India’s population has received at least one shot of a vaccine. Its surge led to the Indian government’s decision to withhold exports of doses that many low- and middle-income countries were relying on. The vaccine rollout in Africa, which was already slower than it is in any other continent, could soon come to a near halt because of the suspension.

Public health experts say the number of global cases is most likely surging because more contagious virus variants are spreading just as people are starting to let their guards down.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. will begin sharing its entire pipeline of vaccines from AstraZeneca once the COVID-19 vaccine clear federal safety reviews, the White House told The Associated Press on Monday, with as many as 60 million doses expected to be available for export in the coming months.

The move greatly expands on the Biden administration’s action last month to share about 4 million doses of the vaccine with Mexico and Canada. The AstraZeneca vaccine is widely in use around the world but not yet authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The move comes as the White House is increasingly assured about the supply of the three vaccines being administered in the U.S., particularly following the restart of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot over the weekend.

“Given the strong portfolio of vaccines that the U.S. already has and that have been authorized by the FDA, and given that the AstraZeneca vaccine is not authorized for use in the U.S., we do not need to use the AstraZeneca vaccine here during the next several months,” said White House COVID-19 coordinator Jeff Zients. “Therefore the U.S. is looking at options to share the AstraZeneca doses with other countries as they become available.”

More than 3 million people worldwide have died of COVID-19.

About 10 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have been produced but have yet to pass review by the FDA to “meet its expectations for product quality,” Zients said. That process could be completed in the next several weeks. About 50 million more doses are in various stages of production and could be available to ship in May and June pending FDA sign-off.

The U.S. has yet to finalize where the AstraZeneca doses will go, Zients said. Neighbors Mexico and Canada have asked the Biden administration to share more doses, while dozens of other countries are looking to access supplies of the vaccine. The doses will be donated by the U.S. government, which has contracted with the company for a total of 300 million doses — though the company has faced production issues.

AstraZeneca’s doses in the U.S. were produced at an Emergent BioSolutions plant in Baltimore that has come under increased regulatory and public scrutiny after botching batches of the J&J vaccine. The U.S. pressed J&J to take over the plant and, as part of the effort to ensure the quality of newly produced vaccines, directed the facility to stop making the AstraZeneca shot. AstraZeneca is still looking to identify a new U.S. production facility for its future doses.

AstraZeneca’s vaccine was initially expected to be the first to receive federal emergency authorization, and the U.S. government ordered enough for 150 million Americans before issues with the vaccine’s clinical trial held up clearance. The company’s 30,000-person U.S. trial didn’t complete enrollment until January, and it has still not filed for an emergency use authorization with the FDA.

To make a defamation claim in California, you must prove four things:

That someone made a false statement of purported “fact” about you:That the statement was made (“published”) to a third party; That the person who made the statement did so negligently, recklessly or intentionally; and,That as a result of the statement, your reputation was damaged.

California law recognizes two types of defamation: libel and slander. The main difference is whether a defamatory statement was made verbally (constituting slander) or in writing (constituting libel).

Reputation is a difficult task but given your history of being a racist rodent bastard posted already posted comments.

If I follow up you will need a good lawyer.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on Monday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) would launch an investigation into the Louisville Police Department, the second such probe announced in the last week.

The so-called “pattern or practice” investigation comes after the death of Breonna Taylor, an African American woman who was killed last year by Louisville police during a no-knock raid on her apartment.

“Those investigations, and the recommendations and actions that ensue, do not only protect individual civil rights. They also assist police departments in developing measures to increase transparency and accountability,” Garland said in the announcement at the department's headquarters.

Kevin McCarthy’s pathetic revisionism.

As new polls remind us, the GOP continues to have a base problem — the vast majority of Republicans still refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of the 2020 election.

But the GOP also, quite obviously, continues to have a leadership problem as well. Case in point: the feckless, possible future House speaker, Kevin McCarthy.

After a brief spasm of candor in the wake of the January 6 insurrection, McCarthy has spent the last few months scrambling back from his unwonted show of independence.

Sunday morning we got a look at where that has led him. Via the Daily Beast:

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) repeatedly dodged Fox News anchor Chris Wallace’s pointed questions on Sunday about the top Republican’s Jan. 6 call with former President Donald Trump, insisting his conversations with the former president are a personal and private matter.

As McCarthy squirmed, Wallace pressed him:

The Fox anchor specifically referenced Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s claims about the call.

“She said while the January 6th riot was in full force, you phoned President Trump and ask him to call off his supporters and, according to you, she said, the president responded, ‘Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election then you are,’” the veteran anchor explained. “Is she right? Is that what President Trump said to you?”

McCarthy immediately deflected, instead claiming he was the first person Trump spoke to after the seditious crowd broke into the building and that the then-president promised him on that call that he’d do something to stop the violence.

He's a pathetic loser.

When you hear the panic porn from India, remember:

1) A month ago it was Brazil. The Brazilian variant, overrun hospitals, eekamouse! Since then cases are down 30%, deaths 20%.

2) India has had 1/12 the deaths per capita as the US. Some reversion to the mean was sadly likely...

3) India has terrible income inequality, desperate poverty, and semi-functional public hospitals at the best of times.

4) MOST IMPORTANTLY: this is all a distraction from three straight months of very good news in the US.

And after enormous social media pressure Biden has finally released the raw materials for the vaccine he was withholding from India.

Some say it was political payback to withhold.

And Biden/Harris is definitely political, at least whoever is pulling the strings.

Did Joe ever figure out how to take his mask off ?

Obviously much harder for him that it looks
