However, during the hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Gilead Light acknowledged to Hogan that bear spray was never used, despite video clips presented earlier in the case.
Khater’s attorney, Joseph Tacopina, told U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Hogan that Light did not “mention the two defendants had been doused by pepper spray administered by police moments earlier.” More from WTOP:
With 20 MPH winds that day and no actual evidence that any bear spray was actually used, it would appear to be likely that the eyes and skin irritant that certain police officers complained about was more likely than not their own pepper spray being blown back in their faces. Like it or not, there appears to be no "non-liberal logical reason" to believe that it was bear spray.

Now, of course the prosecutors in this case will not allow the lack of evidence that anyone used bear spray... they will simply move into the area of proving the "intent" to use bear spray to make their case. These people had lives, families, jobs and were passionate. They loved our country. Very few breached the capitol despite being egged on, by among others, a CNN rented cameraman with antifa connections. Who was charged initially but then released. All people who died were Trump supporters.

A New York Post reporter who authored a story falsely claiming that migrant children were being given copies of Vice President Kamala Harris' children's book announced on Tuesday that she'd been "ordered" to write the "incorrect" story and resigned from the paper .

Police released footage of the events leading up to the death of a Latino man in Alameda, California, showing officers kneeling on the man’s back and shoulder until he became unresponsive. The video contradicts officials’ original account of the incident.
Mario Gonzalez, a 26-year-old Latino man, died on the morning of April 19 after what police claimed was a “scuffle” and “physical altercation” as they attempted to restrain him, followed by a “medical emergency.”
But body camera footage released on Tuesday afternoon after an outcry from Gonzalez’s family and the public did not show him being violent or fighting officers at any point.
Instead, in the video, officers approached Gonzalez, who was standing alone in a park with some bottles of alcohol in a basket. Gonzalez calmly spoke with officers for nearly nine minutes before they attempted to place his hands behind his back. Police pinned him facedown on the ground and at least two officers appeared to get on top of his back, one kneeling on his shoulder, for about five minutes until Gonzalez became unresponsive.
Police said Gonzalez died at the hospital, but the video showed that he had stopped breathing on-site and that one officer declared “no pulse” shortly after officers began CPR.

Wildlife conservationists are outraged after video released by the New Yorker and The Trace Tuesday shows the head of the National Rifle Association and his wife fatally shooting two endangered elephants in Botswana in 2013.
The news outlets said they obtained a copy of the video, which was originally filmed for an NRA-sponsored television series but never aired due to public relations concerns.
In the ten-minute video, Wayne LaPierre, Jr., executive vice president of the NRA, can be seen shooting and wounding a savannah elephant his guides tracked for him in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. The video shows LaPierre failing to kill the animal with three shots at point-blank range as the animal lies immobile on the ground.

US taxpayers paid Donald Trump's resorts in Ireland and Scotland in 2017 for previously undisclosed visits by his family and the Secret Service, The Scotsman reported over the weekend, providing further evidence of how Trump's family benefited from his time in office.
The Scotsman said its report was based on invoices and spending records obtained by American Oversight, an ethics watchdog in Washington, DC.
The documents included an invoice for 5,400 pounds, or about $7,000, from Trump's Turnberry resort in Scotland dated August 14, 2017, the report said.
The Scotsman reported that it was unclear who visited Turnberry that month but that Trump's son Eric had flown to Scotland the previous month to play golf at his father's resorts.
The newly disclosed expenses also included invoices for 5,310 pounds and 6,680 pounds, in July and April 2017, from Trump's Doonbeg resort in Ireland to cover Secret Service accommodations during Eric's trips, The Scotsman reported.

t’s now been over three weeks since a torrent of sensational headlines about U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) blared from corporate media newsrooms. It sounded about as bad as it could get for the representative from Florida’s 1st Congressional District; breathless claims that he was “under investigation for underage sex trafficking” touched off a media frenzy.
No stranger to controversy, Gaetz’s initial instinct was to confront the allegations live on Fox News with Tucker Carlson. While many saw it as a bizarre interview, it may at least have been the right move in terms of staring down a bloodthirsty establishment.
As several weeks have passed, though, the controversy seems to have generated more heat than light. Indeed, this might be the longest running “sex scandal” in the nation’s history without an accuser.
But the media has been busy. Since the original story broke, there’s been a drip of follow-on stories at outlets like the Daily Beast, Politico, the Washington Post, and CNN—all using a shady collection of off-the-record and dubious government sources.
Unsurprisingly, given that sourcing, none of the stories have contained anything close to serious detail or evidence. Reporters keep dropping tidbits of evidence likely to be emanating from within the Justice Department, yet none of which confirms any of the headline-grabbing allegations.
Few of these articles even attempt to deal with the wild allegations first made about the congressman. Writing in Politico on Tuesday, Betsy Woodruff Swan stated: “[Gaetz] has not been charged with a crime, and no women have publicly accused him of sexual misconduct in the three weeks since the New York Times first reported on the investigation. He has denied any wrongdoing.”
Note how—after making a sensational media splash for maximum public relations damage—the accusations against Gaetz have shifted, from shocking and unsupported claims of underage sex trafficking and pedophilia to the less scurrilous (and still unsupported) accusation that Gaetz had sex at parties. Crucially, there has not been any evidence of payments, prostitution, or underage girls.
