Well, you know, George, I’m obviously careful because, I mean, I’m a physician and a health care provider. I am now much more comfortable in people seeing me indoors without a mask. I mean, before the CDC made the recommendation change, I didn’t want to look like I was giving mixed signals. But being a fully vaccinated person, the chances of my getting infected in an indoor setting is extremely low. And that’s the reason why in indoor settings now I feel comfortable about not wearing a mask, because I’m fully vaccinated.Obviously the science didn't change overnight. Fauci and the CDC understood long before last week that masks outdoors were not helpful in general, much less for vaccinated people. In fact the CDC knew long before last week that mask wearing in general for fully vaccinated people was basically unnecessary.
This is one of those cases where you sort of have to respect a little of the do as I do attitude. I mean, as stupid as it was, Fauci and other liberals continued to "lead by example" when they continued to wear masks in situations where it was useless to do so. Now, that example they set was a stupid example. Leading by stupid example is still stupid, but better than being both stupid and a hypocrite.
At the end of the day this was about virtue signaling and political rhetoric. Liberals have been demonizing anyone who did not comply with their mask wearing Nazi style lock step for so long that giving up the concept that their mask wearing was a sign of something noble or intelligent must have been very hard to do. It makes you wonder where they go from here?

Observers of conservative politics say it’s perfectly logical that Trump fans so willingly accept his counterfactual statements about the pandemic and go along with efforts to discredit scientists in order to delegitimize politically damaging statistics. For years, Republicans have successfully seized upon a larger cultural trend of diminished faith in experts around issues like climate change.
“We think expertise is this very exclusionary idea, which it is, because it’s supposed to be: Not everybody gets a vote on how to fly the plane,” said Nichols, who wrote about the trend in a 2017 book, “The Death of Expertise.” In the pandemic, “This rejection of science and of expertise [has] become [a] demonstration of political loyalty. That’s the part I didn’t expect — that there would be an entire political movement, led by the president of the United States, to basically disavow science.”
In a recent interview, Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that because science still holds a place of esteem and authority in the wider culture, it has become a proxy for those who want to lash out against authority figures.
The current President of the United States. Doctor Fauci and again the CDC.
Scientific studies show that masking saved thousands of lives. And because of people like you and Trump, hundreds of thousands Americans are dead.

By demonstrating craven loyalty to Donald Trump despite his lies about the 2020 election, the Republican Party is no longer simply playing for the base. By questioning the very integrity of America's electoral system, it now represents an open threat to the US constitutional order.
WASHINGTON, DC – This period in US history could go down as the moment when America’s democratic system for electing a president – the most consequential duty of US citizens – was broken, perhaps for good.

The Secret Tax Loophole Making the Rich Even Richer!
How do we prevent America from becoming an aristocracy, while also funding the programs that Americans desperately need?
One way is to get rid of a tax loophole you’ve probably never heard of. It’s known as the “stepped-up basis" rule.
Here’s how the stepped-up-basis loophole now works. Take a man named Jeff. At his death, Jeff owns $30 million-worth of stocks he originally bought for a total of $10 million. Under existing law, neither Jeff nor his heirs would owe federal tax on the $20 million of gains because they’re automatically “stepped up” to their value when he dies — $30 million.
Under Biden’s proposal, Jeff’s $20 million of gains would be taxed. And don’t worry: Biden’s proposal doesn’t touch tax-favored retirement accounts, such as 401-Ks, and it only applies to the very richest Americans.
As it is now, the stepped-up basis loophole enables the super-rich, like Jeff, to avoid paying more than $40 billion in taxes each year. It has allowed them to skip taxes on the increased values of mansions and artworks as well as shares of stock.
In fact, it’s one of the chief means by which dynastic wealth has grown and been passed from generation to generation, enabling subsequent generations to live off that growing wealth and never pay a dime of taxes on it.
Unless the stepped-up basis loophole is closed, we will soon have a large class of hugely rich people who have never worked a day in their lives.

It is "bonkers" to read the obvious statement that Fauci admitted that he wore the mask to avoid "mixed signals" regarding CDC guidelines.
and somehow related that statement to someone actually saying that the scientists are Democratic Democratic hoaxers who want to turn the country into a marxists economy and political system to take away private property and companies.
I mean, let's start with the term "actually".
Do you know what that term means, Roger?
Obviously you don't, or you would not have used it in these regards.
More to the point. The first statement has nothing to do with the second statement. That is "actually" a fact.

So here we are, 14 months or so after “two weeks to slow the spread” and “fifteen days to flatten the curve,” finally being allowed out of our jail cells and “permitted” by elected and unelected bureaucrats to breathe fresh air without wearing a slave muzzle. As the prisoners in Don Pizarro’s dungeons sing in Beethoven’s mighty opera, Fidelio: “Oh what joy, in the open air / Freely to breathe again!”
How did you enjoy your first taste of totalitarianism, America? And for your own good, too!
Yes, fellow citizens, “cases” of the dreaded COVID-19—a very likely man-made, gain-of-function “disease” with a 99 percent survival rate—are now down in all 50 states. Even with less than half the American population fully vaccinated, the “crisis,” such as it was, is over.
What’s more, after the so-called “red states” began ignoring the pronunciamentos of the almighty health poohbahs, the CDC abruptly announced that masking is no longer necessary in most circumstances, thus pantsing their own senior officials who up until a few days ago were warning of “impending doom” should the country reopen.

The CDC jumped the shark for me when they took on the gun violence issue.
Gun violence ain't a fucking disease.
They want to make Antifa and BLM terrorists organizations.
Well alky, that's because they ARE domestic terror organizations...
Hacked Training Manual of the Washington DC Metropolitan Police: Antifa is "by far is the most violent we have dealt with over the years."
Publicly they continue shielding Antifa.
The left even maintains that antifa "doesn't exist."
But here's what the police dossiers say:
Andy Ngo @MrAndyNgo
Last week the DC Metropolitan PD suffered a massive data leak after being hacked by a Russian-language syndicate. Among the leaks include law enforcement training on #antifa's ideology and tactics. The material is surprisingly accurate. I'll quote it here rather than screenshot:
DC MPD: "Antifa--the movement is a conglomeration of left-wing autonomous, militant anti-fascist groups in the United States. The principal feature of antifa groups is their use of direct action."
DC MPD: "They [antifa] engage in varied protest tactics, which include digital activism, property damage, physical violence, and harassment against those whom they identify as fascist, racist, or on the far-right."
DC MPD: "They [antifa] tend to be anti-capitalist & they are predominantly far-left & militant left, which includes anarchists, communists & socialists. Their stated focus is on fighting far-right & white supremacist ideologies directly, rather than through electoral means."
DC MPD : "This group by far is the most violent we have dealt with over the years."
DC MPD: "As you all are aware during the Inauguration of President Trump this was the group that destroyed property, assaulted any Trump supporter they ran into includ[ing] the elderly. They have no moral compass on who they go after."
This is the key conclusion in the internal DC Metropolitan Police training material on #antifa: "If you do not believe in what they [antifa] believe in, you are a target of violence."
Whoever compiled the report understands the most important things about antifa.
The internal training material from DC MPD on #antifa also includes various law enforcement strategies and tactics to counter them but I won't quote here given the information may be sensitive.

Tuesday Fucking Funny episode.
The attorney for alleged insurrectionist and “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley says that his client and other accused Capitol rioters were uniquely vulnerable to being misled by former President Trump’s lies. “A lot of these defendants… they’re all fucking short-bus people,” Albert Watkins told Talking Points Memo. “These are people with brain damage, they’re fucking retarded... But they’re our brothers, our sisters, our neighbors, our coworkers—they’re part of our country. These aren’t bad people, they don’t have prior criminal history. Fuck, they were subjected to four-plus years of goddamn propaganda the likes of which the world has not seen since fucking Hitler.”
Watkins has unsuccessfully tried to have Chansley granted pretrial release on the basis of his unusual dietary needs, and his client having been fed misinformation by Trump. Some experts told Talking Points Memo that the emphasis on Trump’s role in inciting the riot may be a smart tactic for getting lighter sentences.

The Steele Dossier shaped US politics for 4 years. Journalists now will pretend they mocked the salacious parts -- they didn't -- but the core fraud of it contaminated everything. The most gullible ones who promoted it -- @Maddow, @NatashaBertrand, @DavidCornDC -- were rewarded.

The only reason the Steele affair isn’t already thought of as maybe the biggest scandal in the modern history of American journalism is because the ostensible “victim” was Donald Trump. Virtually everyone in major media was complicit in the fraud, and many are still proud of it.

But Russia, Russia, Russia! Russia gets a waiver!
Despite all the "election interference" Biden strongly implied was a causus belli for actual war.
Sounds like another story NeverTrump will ignore.
Because they were always in on the leftwing political operation from the start. Always. From the start.
The Biden administration will waive sanctions on the corporate entity and CEO overseeing the construction of Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline into Germany, according to two sources briefed on the decision.
Why it matters: The decision indicates the Biden administration is not willing to compromise its relationship with Germany over this pipeline, and underscores the difficulties President Biden faces in matching actions to rhetoric on a tougher approach to Russia.
...
The State Department will also acknowledge the corporate entity in charge of the project -- Nord Stream 2 AG and its CEO, the Putin crony and former East German intelligence officer Matthias Warnig -- are engaged in sanctionable activity.
However, the State Department will waive the applications of those sanctions, citing U.S. national interests.
This planned move seems at odds with Secretary of State Antony Blinken's statement, made during his confirmation hearing, that "I am determined to do whatever we can to prevent that completion (of Nord Stream 2)."

Days after a bipartisan agreement was reached in the House to form a commission to examine the roots and events of the January 6 riot at the US Capitol, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced Tuesday that he opposes the bill.
"Given the political misdirections that have marred this process, given the now duplicative and potentially counterproductive nature of this effort, and given the Speaker's shortsighted scope that does not examine interrelated forms of political violence in America, I cannot support this legislation," said McCarthy.
Which doesn't make any sense because, well, the legislation that would have created the commission was developed by Reps. Bennie Thompson (D-Mississippi) and John Katko (R-New York). And Katko had made clear that he was negotiating on behalf of and with the imprimatur of the Republican leadership.
So, what's really going on here? Why would McCarthy throw Katko directly under the bus -- sending a message to every rank and file Republican that the leadership has zero problem making you look like a fool if it behooves them?
Two reasons, actually.
1) McCarthy doesn't want to testify under oath about his phone conversation with former President Donald Trump on January 6. As CNN reported, Trump told McCarthy on that call that the rioters "are more upset about the election than you are" and the GOP leader responded by insisting that the people overrunning the Capitol were backers of the President and that he needed to tell them to stand down.
A week after the riot, here's what McCarthy said on the House floor about Trump and the riot:
"The President bears responsibility for Wednesday's attack on Congress by mob rioters. He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding. These facts require immediate action of President Trump."
But, as it became increasingly clear that even Trump's role inciting these rioters would not turn the GOP base away from him, McCarthy changed his tune. In late April, in an interview on "Fox News Sunday," McCarthy said this about his January 6 call with Trump:
"What I talked to President Trump about, I was the first person to contact him when the riots was going on. He didn't see it. What he ended the call was saying -- telling me, he'll put something out to make sure to stop this. And that's what he did, he put a video out later."
That is, of course, fundamentally inaccurate. Trump waited hours before releasing any sort of statement about the riot. And, when he did call on the rioters to go home, he reiterated the Big Lie about the 2020 election. "We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election and everyone knows it," Trump said in a video released by the White House that day. "Especially the other side. But you have to go home now. We have to have peace."
The broader point here is that McCarthy has been VERY cagey about that January 6 phone call -- and there continues to be questions about whether Trump and McCarthy have spoken about the call since January 6.
"Leader McCarthy has spoken to a number of people in -- in large groups and small groups since the sixth about his exchanges with the President," said Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney (R) on "Fox News Sunday." "I think it's very important that, you know, he clearly has facts about that day, that an investigation into what happened, into the president's actions, ought to get to the bottom of. And I think that he has important information that needs to be part of any investigation, whether it's the FBI, the Department of Justice, or this commission that I -- I hope will be set up."
2) McCarthy wants to be speaker badly. Last week, McCarthy led the charge to remove Cheney as the third-ranking Republican in the House because she voted to impeach Trump for his role on January 6 -- and her outspoken belief that the former President should not play a central role in the party's future. His decision on the January 6 commission has to be seen in relation to that move, as both are based on this reality: The Republican base doesn't believe that Trump lost the election -- and is already seeking to rewrite the history of January 6.
McCarthy has drawn the conclusion that there is no path to the House majority in 2022 that doesn't run through total and complete support for Trump. And, selfishly, that the best way for him to ensure that he will be the choice for speaker if and when Republicans win the majority is to stand in total opposition to anything that tries to put blame for January 6 insurrection on Trump.
Combine those two factors and you see why McCarthy was willing to totally and publicly undermine Katko in support of both his personal and political ambitions. It's transparent, yes. But McCarthy is playing hardball to keep his political career on track.
And let's never forget that he ran the Benghazi investigation in order to keep Secretary Clinton from being the first woman President.
He's a scummy bastard.
BLM Has choosen a side.

Huge news!
The New York attorney general's office said Tuesday night it has informed the Trump Organization that its investigation into the company "is no longer purely civil in nature" and is now a criminal one.
Why it matters: New York Attorney General Letitia James' office is now working with the Manhattan district attorney's office, which has been investigating the Trump Organization for potential bank, tax and insurance fraud.
Driving the news: New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) announced last August that her office had filed a lawsuit to compel the Trump Organization to comply with subpoenas related to an investigation into whether former President Trump and his company improperly inflated the value of its assets on financial statements.
Fabien Levy, a spokesperson for James, said in an emailed statement: "We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA." Levy declined to comment further.
What they're saying: Representatives for the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment on the news, first reported by CNN.
But Trump has previously denied any wrongdoing and called the investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance a political "witch hunt."
He may end up in jail.

Republicans in the House and Senate should not approve the Democrat trap of the January 6 Commission. It is just more partisan unfairness and unless the murders, riots, and fire bombings in Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, and New York are also going to be studied, this discussion should be ended immediately. Good news for Georgia and the Republican Party. Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan won’t be running again for office. He was the one who, along with Governor Brian Kemp, stopped the Georgia State Senate from doing the job they wanted to do on the 2020 Presidential Election Fraud. Duncan’s fight against Election Fraud made him unelectable. His former top aide, Chip Lake, said that the Lieutenant Governor would not win another term in office. Lake said, “I think he was an accident, and this is what happens when accidents happen in politics. They become one and done.” Now maybe the Georgia State Senate and House will build up the courage to expose the large-scale Presidential Election Fraud, which took place in their otherwise wonderful State. Let them just look at the State Senate in Arizona to find out what Leadership and Patriotism is all about!

Joe Biden, having already presided on the worst economic recovery since World War II as Barack Obama’s vice president, could oversee one even worse. … Biden came into office with every economic feature in his favor. Thanks to Operation Warp Speed, his White House inherited the most remarkable vaccine production process in history. Because the coronavirus recession was created by preventive lockdowns and demand shocks, not underlying failures of the economy, the country seemed keen to roar back to our pre-pandemic prosperity of unusually tight labor markets and steady natural wage growth of early 2020. Love Donald Trump or hate him, there is no denying that he oversaw the obliteration of our former conception of what constituted full employment. Gates is vice chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, one of four Republicans on that body. On Monday afternoon, he made his frustrations with the ongoing “audit” of votes from the 2020 general election in that county apparent.
“It’s time to say enough is enough,” Gates said. “It is time to push back on the ‘big lie.’ We must do this. We must do this as a member of the Republican Party, we must do this as a member of the Board of Supervisors. We need to do this as a country.”
In addition to his comments at the news conference, Gates was one of seven signatories (most of them Republican) to a brutally blunt letter offered in response to questions posed by Arizona state Sen. Karen Fann (R). Fann, as president of the Senate, has been the legislative face of the vote-counting effort that her Republican-led chamber authorized. The questions she posed were apparently inspired by the team leading the audit, a group called Cyber Ninjas, and centered on various vague allegations of improper handling of ballots or deleted material.
The response from Gates and his colleagues is unsparing.
“The Arizona Senate is not acting in good faith, has no intention of learning anything about the November 2020 General Election, [and] is only interested in feeding the various festering conspiracy theories that fuel the fundraising schemes of those pulling your strings,” the letter to Fann reads. “You have rented out the once good name of the Arizona State Senate to grifters and con-artists, who are fundraising hard-earned money from our fellow citizens even as your contractors parade around the Coliseum” — the location of the vote-counting effort — “hunting for bamboo and something they call ‘kinematic artifacts’ while shining purple lights for effect. None of these things are done in a serious audit. The result is that the Arizona Senate is held up to ridicule in every corner of the globe and our democracy is imperiled.”

The GOP is in a bit of disarray.
While most of its members continue to display an unwavering loyalty to former President Donald Trump, a smaller but prominent group of more than 100 Republicans are gearing up for a breakaway plan. News of the effort surfaced last week when House Republicans ousted Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney from leadership after she repeatedly challenged Trump for falsely claiming the 2020 election was stolen from
It’s not clear yet what Cheney’s exile will mean for Republicans like her who are anti-Trump and ready for the party to move forward without the former president at the helm, but the GOP’s breakup with Cheney once again raises the question of whether the party will experience an exodus (Cheney, for the record, has said she’s running for reelection).
A splintering of the Republican Party has long been speculated, and while it’s hard to know whether this is, in fact, a turning point or an isolated incident that will soon recede from the headlines.
Nothing will change, and the GOP will remain the party of Trump.
Of course, it’s also possible that the drama with Cheney is a mere blip and the GOP will continue down its current path where members are judged for their fealty to Trump and those deemed insufficiently loyal are either booted from their leadership roles or forced to navigate their place in the party without strong political allies.
Based on recent events, this scenario seems the most likely, especially since the GOP barely tried to rebrand itself after suffering losses in 2020 and, in state legislatures, lawmakers still show an unwavering loyalty to Trumpism. Trump continues to dominate the Republican Party’s rhetoric, agenda, and fundraising. For instance, at the state level, Republicans are going all in on pushing restrictive voting bills to perpetuate the “Big Lie,” and at the national level, they are still embracing Trump as their leader. At CPAC, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz even declared triumphantly that Trump “ain’t goin’ anywhere.”
One big reason why Trump will likely continue to influence the party — at least in the short term — is that he’s successfully won over non-college-educated white voters, a powerful bloc of the GOP’s base. Plus, the ousting of Cheney — and subsequent elevation of New York Rep. Elise Stefanik to the No. 3 GOP role in the House — shows that being a congressional Republican today is no longer about possessing conservative bona fides but about blindly adhering to Trumpism.
