Manchin not going along with plot to make D.C. a state!

Joe Manchin Just Says “NO” To D.C. Statehood Legislation
Manchin, a key swing vote in the closely divided Senate, said he believes a constitutional amendment, rather than legislation, would be required to admit D.C. as a state. His stance deals a major blow to statehood advocates who were hoping for his support after the bill passed the House last week.
Manchin cited findings from the Justice Department under Presidents Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter and comments from then-Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy in reaching his decision.
“They all came to the same conclusion: If Congress wants to make D.C. a state, it should propose a constitutional amendment. It should propose a constitutional amendment and let the people of America vote,” Manchin said in a radio interview with Hoppy Kercheval of West Virginia’s MetroNews, the full audio of which was provided to The Washington Post by Manchin’s staff.
So what do liberals say about all of this? Well the same thing they say when anyone disagrees with them. They simply call him a racist!
Joe Manchin is acting to sustain white power from a position of incredible, ridiculous, undeserved and unearned privilege and authority in the Senate. He is giving the middle finger to every progressive effort we have. He is pissing on the labor and sacrifice of Georgia voters, of voters in Michigan and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and Arizona. He is shitting on Joe Biden’s chance to make real change in this country.

So now, not allowing a city within the state of Maryland to become it's own state is racist? This, of course, is just another power grab. Democrats are concerned that the current make up of America is not going to cater to any sort of long term majority for them, so they are looking to change the map.

You start with adding two more states almost guaranteed to vote Democrat. Then you change the amount of Supreme Court Justices. We have had fifty states for over fifty years and we have had nine Justices for a hundred and fifty.

I would have no issues putting all three on the ballot as possible constitutional amendments. One for statehood of D.C. One for statehood of Puerto Rica. One to set the number of Justices at nine. We would just need to first find a supermajority in both chambers to get something like this on the ballot. Then you would need three quarter of the states to pass it.

Manchin is never going to have as much power as he does now.

The question is what he is going to do with. I can see him negotiate with senate Republicans a new more reasonable infrastructure bill. Where infrastructure really is roads, water/sanitation , airports and seaports.
One thing is certain, he's no friend of the radical left.

Roger on the prior thread advocated for 🐑🐑😷😷🐑🐑 thru June, 2021, and all will be right in the dystopian world of Neo-Socialist Biden.

Roger, is truly the least among us.

Pres. Neo-Socialist Biden ordered on Friday, April, 30th, 2021.
"requires travelers to wear masks at airports, on airplanes and on commuter bus and rail systems, through Sept. 13,2021.

Roger, how are you so under informed?

Biden’s Next 100 Days
Associated Press:
“Past the 100-day mark, with positive approval ratings and a far-reaching, nearly $2 trillion COVID-19 relief bill to show for it, Biden is now facing far more uncertain terrain. The president is racing against the calendar, governing with the most slender of majorities on Capitol Hill while knowing that historically the party that holds the White House loses seats in midterm elections, which would cost Democrats control of Congress after the 2022 vote.

“His next 100 days will feature his first foreign trip but will be dominated by his push to pass his expansive plans on infrastructure and children, families and education, which would expand the social safety net for children, increase taxes on the wealthy and fund projects that his critics say are infrastructure in name only.”

CNN:
How the economy is turning into a strength for Biden.

Democrats Are Open to Concessions on
Infrastructure
“President Biden and top Democrats are signaling privately they are willing to make concessions over Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan, or break it into chunks, if that will attract even a handful of Republican votes and allow them to notch a bipartisan win,” the Washington Post reports.

Roger and Jamie, noticed a shift in you two over the last few days.

Excuses for why Biden is failing.
You own it all, not one thing any Republican can do about it.

I wonder if somehow the Democrats can find a way to get rid of gerrymandering. I haven't looked into yet but

States are months away from getting the census data they need to draw new political maps, but courts are already filling up with lawsuits challenging the redistricting process.

One of the Democratic Party's most prominent lawyers quickly filed three suits in states where neither Republicans nor Democrats have full control over the redistricting process, in preparation for court action to resolve potential impasses over new maps. Ohio and Alabama are suing the Census Bureau over its delayed timeline for giving the states what they need to draw maps. New York is even contemplating legal action after the census count showed it missed out on an extra House seat by just 89 people.

I saw this last night.

Bill Maher was on his game per usual Friday night, and he riffed on a story about a school kid's science project designed to answer the question ... "Does your cat's butthole really touch all the surfaces in your home?"

Kaeden Griffin, a 6th grader from Tennessee, and his mom -- who was homeschooling the boy -- decided to crack the case by putting red lipstick on the buttholes of their 2 felines. The cats went here and there in the house and mother and son chronicled their results. He also said that her son gave her back the lipstick and she used it.
